Ebony walked away from the blacksmiths shop, having just complete the quest <<Worn Out Welcome>> with her friend Ace. The sun was still in the sky, and she felt like there was still time for that quest that Manta had suggested a couple of days back, <<Essence of Steel>>. She tapped out a quick message to Manta, detailing the situation and how she would like to power through the quest before the day ended. She was sure that Manta would help her out, and hoped that she wasn't pulling Manta away from more important things.

As it happened, Manta had been hanging out next to the floor nine teleport, bemoaning that one more skill point that she needed to max out her sword skills. If only she had saved those five skill points she had spent on charge. And alert message popped up, notifying her of the new message and she glanced it over smiling. It looked like she was going to get the skill point she needed. Ebony came to her rescue once again. She hopped onto the podium and called out the name of the fourth floor town, Snowfrost. Within seconds she was standing in the cold of what she believed to be the most beautiful floor in Aincrad.

Ebony took her time getting to the fourth floor. She didn't expect Manta to get there any time soon, so she stopped by a blacksmiths to check out his selection of shields. None of them fit her fighting style though, so after about twenty minutes of browsing she left and stepped onto the teleport podium, traveling to the fourth floor. She didn't know about Manta, but she'd always felt that the fourth floor was the most beautiful.

Manta looked up to see Ebony appear at the teleport. She had been waiting for ten minutes, but it wasn't a big deal. She waved to Ebony to draw attention to herself and let her friend know that she was there. "Hey Ebony! Im all set to go on this quest." She called out before checking her equipment over just in case she wasn't. As it turned out, everything that needed to be equipped was equipped, and she actually was all set to go. She hoped she could take the quest boss though.

Ebony heard Manta's voice and saw her friend waving to her. She smiled and walked over to her friend, her armor still equipped from her last quest. "Heyo Manta." She said, greeting her. She was also ready to go, with her wooden pendant, stiletto dagger, and heavy metal armor. "So what's the plan? You distract the boss for a bit while I heal you, and then Ill attack it a bit as long as you dont need healing?" She asked.

Manta gave Ebony a nod. She seemed to be getting the hang of partying. More than that she seemed to be more confident lately, maybe due to the increase in her strength. She smiled and motioned forwards towards the exit to the town. "Your going to have to be the one to wake up the boss, but ill step in front right after and drawn his attention to me. If we play it right it should be perfectly safe." She said, starting to walk.

Ebony nodded back. The two of them seemed to do a lot of nodding to each other. Ebony followed Manta out of the safe zone and towards the cave where the boss resided. They finally reached the cave after a a good long walk, and Ebony picked up a nearby bone, walking over to the skull. She thought about what she was doing for a moment, wondering if this was at all safe. Probably not, but Manta was there to shield her, like usual. She slammed the bone down on the skull, creating a deafening gong noise, before running back behind Manta, the roar of an angered mob boss behind her.

Manta walked alongside Ebony in silence. They had both been doing this sort of thing often, so the silence didn't seem awkward, or foreign. They both had things on their minds, Manta the clearing party and the new floor, Ebony the support race. When they reached the cave, Ebony seemed to pause a bit before hitting the skull. Manta stepped forwards in front of Ebony and waited for the monster to exit the cave. It was huge, but that didn't mean anything other than that it was slow. Manta ran at it, determined to get the first hit. The beasts paw slammed down right in front of her, forcing her to dodge instead of attacking though.

Even with the bit of mitigation that Ebony had, she wasn't prepared to confront that thing head on. She didn't bother doing anything while Manta charged forwards and did an epic dodge to the side. Manta either had to get hurt, or hit the boss before Ebony could do anything at all. Still, she pulled out some medicine patches and prepared to use them if she needed to. Her dagger was in her other hand, so she was prepared to do whatever she might need to.

Manta glared at the creature, shifting her weight between her two feet in preparation to attack. It looked like she would have to use an extra skill for this. She activated <<Concentration>>, and sprinted forward at the creature, her rapier held at the ready. The Snow Beast slammed another paw down at her, but she weaved to the side and activated <<Penetrate>>, sending four extra strong stabs into it's leg.

Ebony continued to stay back and wait for her opening. She wanted to charge in and stab the boss a few times, but then she and Manta would be targeted equally and that would be dangerous for her. Plus, she didn't do all that much damage anyways, so it would be too much of a risk for too little reward. Manta seemed to deal a good bit of damage, but Ebony was used to that. They had been grinding together for a long time, and the only difference that Ebony was seeing in Manta was her health bar. Where was the extra damage Ebony had been expecting?

Manta was glad that Ebony had the sense to hang back, if only for the moment. Most mobs in this game worked on a hate system, and she needed to get a bit of a headstart on hate before Ebony started to attack. Manta ducked underneath a swipe from the snow beast and let loose another barrage of stabs on the creatures other leg, dealing another good bit of damage. Manta was rapidly running out of energy, and she could only hope that she would have enough.

There it was. Now that Manta was ahead on the hate, Ebony was free to attack. She needed to be careful to stay with less hate than Manta, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem. Ebony ran forwards, making sure to keep out of Manta's way, and activated <<Fad Edge>>, stabbing her dagger into the Snow Beast's leg four times as hard as she could. She didn't do anywhere near as much damage as Manta, but every bit helped.

Manta smiled proudly at Ebony as she stabbed the creature, dealing a good chunk of damage for being a support character. She looked back to the boss in time to see one of the Snow Beast's clawed paws coming at her head. She dived to the side and rolled, coming up and leaping up in front of the boss's face, activating <<Penetrate>> again and sending a rain off blows onto the creature face. That was all she had. She was pure out of energy now, and would need to wait for it to restore before finishing the creature off. In the meantime she would dodge its attacks and keep it off of Ebony.

Manta's latest attack seemed to be a critical, likel meaning that the creatures hate had gone up extra. She moved over to the bosses other leg as quickly as she could, trying to distribute the damage equally along it's body for reasons eve she didn't fully understand. Maybe she just preferred symmetry or something. Ebony drew her dagger back and activated <<Fad Edge>> again, stabbing into the bosses leg four times before retreating back a bit. Manta looked like she needed to regenerate some health, so Ebony would attempt to bring the bosses health down as much as she could in the meantime.

Manta stepped back a bit, still drawing the creatures full attention. Her gaze was drawn to Ebony, who was still attacking the mob, her dagger flashing as she stabbed the Snow Beast multiple times. Manta looked back to the beast in time to see the clawed paw moments from hitting her in the stomach. It was too late to dodge, and the claws sliced through her, taking out almost half of her health, They needed to kill this thing quickly.

Ebony watched as Manta got hit by the beast, her attack draining almost halfway down. Her first reaction was to start running towards her friend in an attempt to heal her, but she resisted. It would do more good to take the creature down and then help, so that the Snow Beast couldn't do any more damage to her friend. Ebony drew back her dagger, using the same skill for the third time in a row and stabbing the beast a few times.

Manta was flung through the air, falling over and rolling when she hit the ground. She got back to her feet quickly, noticing that Ebony was still stabbing away at the Snow Beast, bringing it's health down low enough that Manta would be able to kill it if she could just manage to hit it. She ran at the creature, her sword glowing blue as she activated <<Rip Ravine>>, carving a V with two slashed into the bosses chest. The boss's health bar drained down to zero, and it burst into pixels, dropping an item right in front of Ebony. Manta smiled and walked over to Ebony, sending her the loot that she had received. And there was a lot of it too. That boss had given her over a thousand col. "Congratulations Ebony."

Ebony smiled as Manta got up and charged the boss,  landing two strikes and killing it. Something fell to the ground in front of her, and Ebony stooped down to pick it up. <<Essence of Steel>> was the name of the item, and she put it in her inventory just as Manta walked over and sent her the col from the boss fight, saying Congratulations. Ebonys eyes widened at the amount. That was from this one boss? She didn't complain though, and hit the accept button. "Well, that's over now." She glanced over at the horizon, seeing that the sun was about to dip below the horizon. "Thank you for helping me out. We should probably head back though." She suggested.

+ Essence of Steel

+1250 Col
