[PP-F4] How does One Fight an Avalanche?

Recommended Posts

She could remember the feeling of snow upon her flesh, and this mountain was bringing back all the reasons why she hated the winter time. Shivering as she trudged up the mountain didn't even help as she was still out on a quest. Someone told her that this mountain was going to have an Avalanche or something spectacular happening that if someone didn't take it in time the mere amount of snow would then wipe out all the wild life around. Shrugging she continued forward before she heard the crunching of snow. A beast of vast proportions was now stirring. Snow white like the rest of the white topped mountain. As it lifted it's head high in the air Erin already began to panic deciding that it was a better plan to live and fight another day. The little quest cursor showed up though over the creature making her scream in fear. "Ahhhhhhhh! Not a normal Avalanche! Not a normal Avalanche who thought that a newbie could do this type of quest!" She sprinted away from the beast now barreling forward on her till she fell into the snow. Crawling forward and hiding behind a giant boulder. "Please don't notice me-" squeaking she then was covered up by a mound of snow that fell off the boulder onto her essentially acting as an icy tomb.

Zelrius was doing... absolutely nothing to be quite honest. It was recently that he had just completed the Essence of Steel quest with Shizuka, and now he was out and about wandering and being lost in his own thoughts. Despite his resentment for the Winter Wonderland floor, Zelrius found himself here one way or another. He threw a hand backward, giving his Azure and gold furred cloak a nice flap, knocking all the snow off of it and his shoulders. The golden haired boy had been lost in his own thoughts, the only sound being made other than the crunch of his feet on the snow, was the slight jingle the sheaths on each hip and the two pendants around his neck gave. Zelrius stopped a moment, pulling back his gloves to fit nicely on his hand, their white and golden design never ceased to impress the Commandant.

It was during this time that Zelrius approached the <<Avalanche>> Quest area, and in doing so, heard the loud squeak and shouting coming from it. Smirking, Zelrius decided it was time to show off, even if just a little. Sprinting at incredible sppeds thanks to the stats and skills Zelrius possesed, he drew his two sword charing right toward and then through the boss, killing it instantly.

ID 39237 BD 4+4 ACC = 8 Hit. MD 8-3 EVA = 5 Miss

7+4 Fallen = 11+5 Charge = 16*27 = 432

Zelrius 180/180
Erin 4/4

Avalanche 0/100 DEAD

Lying in the snow wasn't exactly her plan for a walk in the wonderland of snow none the less. A loud sneez errupted from underneath the snow she began squirming underneath. As she squirmed though she found out she was stuck. Oh gosh no, I can't move! The once frightened girl was now mortified, was this the place she was gonna live from now on? "I'm going to die like this as a frozen human-sickle," the quest complete message being her only key that some one was around. "Hello someone out there?" She stopped realizing that whomever it was may not have been friendly, then again she was also desperate. "Please, if you are there I could use some help I seem to gotten myself buried." Out of the snow she probably would have sounded a bit muffled until she began to scream realizing she may not have been heard.

Zelrius glanced around, unable to see any potential players that could have spawned the Boss and pulled it out of it's habitat. Even am not fast enough to run out of sight like that... He thought to himself, taking into account his own speed, even with game assistance he still wasn't that quick. He shrugged and began to walk away when he heard a bit of muffled conversation, or what he thought was conversation, followed by a high pitched scream. Slowly trudging over to the place he heard it, Zelrius gave a little dig through the snow to reveal another player under it. His arrogant smile only grew wider when he saw the player, extending a gloved hand to her to help her out. "Don't suppose that was your Avalanche that I just killed, was it? Sorry to ruin your fun, I enjoy showing off far too much." He gave a slight chuckle. "Allow me to introduce myself: Zelrius, Commandant of the Azure Brigade, Champion of the Clash of Blades Tournament, Level Forty Five. If it is not too much trouble, I ask that you introduce yourself, Mon Cheri?" The same aristocratic speech pattern followed by the French phrase was just how he spoke usually, and by now, was habit.

Her screams continued till she heard the muffled crunching of snow under what she assumed was footsteps. "Oh thank you dear Lord in heaven for not leaving me to freeze!" She shouted as the snow about her was shuffled to the side. A rather embarrassed expression now popping up as the gentleman offered a hand to her it was gloved so it really wasn't touching for the most part either way as she took it she would undoubtedly be hoisted out with great ease. The only obvious equipment she had was the a set, ring and necklace offered to her by her friend and the starting whip. "No you didn't steal my Avalanche, er well yes that was my Avalanche to slay but I was sorta running away when you showed up." She sighed a bit depressed that she hadn't read the information on the quest form. "Thank you so much if you hadn't shown up I probably would have been killed." A quaint little bow was performed by the blonde woman to. "Thank you Messieur," she said pronouncing it flawlessly, she then placed to hands over her mouth realizing that she hadn't want to give away any personal information in game. "I mean thank you sir." An embarrassed expression now shown through despite having been buried alive just recently.

Zelrius laughed a little at her introduction and rubbed the back of his head "If Messieur was French, I apologize, but I do not speak it fluently. Latinam linguam meam fluent." His latin coming out almost perfectly, with exception of a grammatical of the am usuage error that was difficult to fix due to the Language being lost. He withdrew his gloved hand and gave a slight bow in courtesy to her own. "Killed? That would be rather unfortunate, as I wouldn't be having this little conversation right now. Happy to help, kind of." The last bit was more to himself than to her, but he didn't give any comment or reaction to it. Zelrius could tell that she was become a bit embarrassed by facial expressions, but couldn't quite place for what reason. He glanced her up and down, giving a quick glance and then continued "I am headed back to Snowfrost Town. If you're up for it, you're free to accompany me to a nearby inn. Lord knows you may need it," He spoke, referencing the snow she was covered in. Turning around and walking off, his dress shoes making a click with each step and his pendants jingling, Zelrius headed off back in the direction of the nearby town.

As he laughed at rubbed her head she began to blink, "Oh so you don't know french but you are in Latin that is cool. I personally haven't ever learned much outside of French and English. " Smiling to the man who had lent his sword in the slaying of the boss she unexpectedly triggered. "Yeah dying this early on would have been quite upsetting for myself, as I just decided to start taking on  missions outside of the city. And I must admit I would appreciate being escorted back to civilization." She brushed off some of the snow on her outfit revealing that she was wearing rather simple snow clothing that was rather restricting for battle. At least she wasn't frozen though. She stumbled behind him through the snow silently looking down at the footprints he was making. Her own acting like that of a cats following step for step as she began to giggle in a playful tone.his pendants jingling, Zelrius headed off back in the direction of the nearby town.

"I understand and can do conversational French, but I am fluent in Latin and English. I find it intriguing that you do know French. What drove you to learn it?" The question coming out in his clear, aristocratic tone.  Zelrius had just begun to swagger gnigerly through the snow, lost in thought for a moment as the two approached the town. He took a second to glance around and enjoy the scenery. Despite being terribly cold and full of annoying players, Zelrius actually liked visiting the floor, though often didn't stay for too long. The mountains in the distance, sparkling with white snow at their tops, and the grey clouds that moved about on the floor to occasionally allow a sunny day as it did now, allowed for one to see all the way across the floor in each direction. They approached the Capital city of Floor 4, Snowfrost town. There were tons upon tons of wooden buildings there, more and more being built every day as more players get shops and find housing there. As they approached the expanding town, Zelrius gave quick note to how polite Erin was, a rare occurrence among players as of lately. As they approached the Cafe that Zelrius often visited with other players when travelling to this Floor, the golden haired Commandant reached out and opened the door, holding it open. "After you, Mademoiselle."

She gave him partially startled look as he asked why she learned French to begin with, "Well I actually didn't learn French, I learned English since I'm actually fluent in it, see I was born in France-" Stopping abruptly in the snow as she caught herself telling others in game where she lived. "I-I don't know why I'm telling you all this about me anyway umm do you enjoy the mountains and cold weather?" If it hadn't been obvious she was trying to get the subject off of herself despite the fact that this was the first time in the game that she had been alone with a male player before. She squirmed a bit uncomfortably in her jacket as she recognized this. As they wandered farther off, she finally began to spot the glorious capital city of Floor 4 she smiled and now rushed ahead smiling. "It's gorgeous!" She shouted gleefully completely forgetting the fact that this still was a game and traveling was safest when one shouted. She stood there taking in the view before Zelrius took the lead once again now en route for what looked to be a quaint cafe. "How polite of you," she smiled giving a jaunty skip through the threshold. Sniffing the air she hopped up over to a table and sat down rather abruptly at a table still shaking.

Zelrius then walked in after she moved in, letting the door swing gently closed and click. He swaggered on over to the table she bounced to, his arrogance showing clearly through the way he moved and carried himself about. He decided to comment on her first words. "Born in France? Not often you find any Nationals here in SAO. Especially not European." He spoke, thinking about his own origin. "Although most were born elsewhere, the majority of players were located in Japan when this all began. There are few from other places, beings it is difficult to connect properly to the server from across the world. Being an avid Gamer, I made sure to personally have the right connection so that I could log-in from my home in Mid-Western America." Zelrius said these things, as if it didn't bother him whatsoever to share information like this, given as he didn't see as it very personal. Though, it was her comment following that confirmed she didn't want to talk about it a whole lot. "Do I like the Mountains and Cold weather? Not really, given it is not much different from what I am used to out there," He gestured to the door, his thoughts drawing him back to the outside world. Mid-November. Makes this floor an almost perfect replica of what my backyard would be like. Mountainous and full of snow. He was drawn back to reality and gave a polite smile. "If you want anything from the server, feel free to order whatever it is you'd like. I am more than capable of buying this whole town, let alone treats for a Lady such as yourself."

As she sat their she began to jostle about trying to find a position that she felt was comfortable. first was the lady like pose that she normally maintained that was a bit to obvious. She already basically told him that she came from a different country. "Well my parents were quite rich and he knew that I adored playing the latest and greatest video games," she grimaced after thinking about all of this. "Oh dear." She realized now that this game probably had ruined her mmorpg days for good. Hanging her head rather depressed she groaned, "I'm never going to be allowed to touch another computer in my life if I ever get out of this. Maybe making it out of here isn't the best plan." She sighed looking back to her companion. "But yeah money can get you anything  they say so I guess it really does since I'm probably now hooked up to medical supplies like the rest of us. "I personally always loved to see the mountain tops and the snow dancing about in the breeze. I could live without the cold though." She laughed. After being offered to by whatever she wanted she blinked and began to ponder, "Seriously, I haven't had anything but bread and water since I came back." She stopped and pondered, "Umm could I have a mug of hot chocolate please. Oh and crepes."

"Aye, money can get you anything. Though I never had a lot of it growing up," He gave a sigh and then noted her Attitude toward escaping the game. "Funny enough, I agree with you that escape may not be the best plan for myself either. Though not for the same reasons. Alas, Those two are not subjects I'd like to discuss in the middle of a Cafe to a Lady I have just met, No offence." He truly wasn't trying to be rude, Zelrius was just often secluded and found himself very untrusting of others. As he sat down, the boy rested his ankle on his knee, a very formal pose, but one he sat in often. Resting his chin on his palm as his elbow propped his arm up on the table, Zelrius listened to her opinion on the snow and mountains subject. "Well, there are places I believe to have better scenery, and more importantly, better weather than this floor. Prehaps I should take you to see the tower mountains and Fortress cities of Floor Seven. Or maybe you'd like to visit the great Cathedral in Taft on Floor Eleven." He grinned as she ordered, deciding to make comment to it. "Interesting choice there..." He stopped and creased his eyebrows trying to recall a name. "Forgive me, but I don't think I ever caught your name, Comistissa."

"Oh you came from a more humble dwelling?" she said uncertain of why she suddenly decided to expression her odd mannerism as a lady. As he began to comment on the reason why he wouldn't want to leave the game Charlotte then began to feel quite stupid. "I-I'm so sorry I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable I was just ... sorta thinking out loud how my father is gonna be now." She hanged her head and waited now for the mug to arrive. "OH right how rude of me not to introduce myself after all you saved me an all. My name is Erin ... I wasn't very creative as you can tell." She laughed before now brushing her hands through her blonde wavy hair. "I thought that it would be appropriate given all of the snow."

"Lady Erin then?" He gave a small smile and extended a gloved hand for her to shake, his way of officially introducing himself.  "Uncreative? Heh, not as bad as me. People called me by Zelrius in the real world too, so it kind of just stuck. It's been years since anyone has referred me to my actual name. Almost to the point where there are some days that I cannot recall it off the top of my head." (OOC, That is in fact a real thing that has happened to me xD) (Back to IC) "Humble isn't exactly the word for it. It just certainly wasn't overly comfortable. It had its ups and downs. But I am not one for telling sob-stories." He had commented, and for the most part it was true. Zelrius didn't find his home and life story all that saddening, for the most part it was average. The occasional bump in a mostly straight road was the proper analogy for it. "No, uncomfortable is not the word for it. Do not worry, Mon Cheri. If you don't mind me asking, Your father? If you wish not to answer, I am more than okay with that."

She eyed his hand being extended out to her and she grimaced uncomfortably as she didn't normally go out of her way to share contact even if they were clothed in such warm clothing that kept skin from touching. However, her manners got the best of her as she didn't want to be rude and changed her expression to that of a smile. "It's a pleasure to share such a nice encounter with you," a childish smile now offered to her friend as her hand shook his. "If you don't mind then I think I will just keep calling you Zelerius, or maybe Zel if that is ok?" She wasn't certain if that would be opposed against for any particular reason, she knew some people were quite particular about the manner which they are called. "Uhh yeah my father is sorta a CEO of a head company hence the reason I'm now in this game ... I just don't think he will approve of my video game habit now after all of this." She said gesticulating about the incident that caused them to be stuck in this game.

"Eh," He began and looking up, his dark blue eyes looking up at her, a smile crossing his face "you can call me Zel, Lady Erin. I find you more tolerable than most of the other people in SAO. And that's saying something, given I found you under a pile of snow." He spoke, just as Erin's order had come back. Quickly thanking and paying the server, Zelrius nodded to the NPC, and redirected his attention to Erin. "I could see why this particular incident would shy him away from games, but at the same time, as a Head CEO, I am going to assume he's got some smarts to him. Does he really think anything like this will ever happen again? I personally doubt it will. In the odd event someone does pull a similar stunt in the future, local governments or something of the like will have precautions for it before hand. So, hopefully, you may keep playing games after this one." As he said these things, Zelrius wasn't sure why he was trying to defend her want to play games, as the argument held no importance as of right now, and wouldn't for a long time. Maybe it was because of how unimportant it sounded that Zelrius liked it so much, it was a short escape from the stress that was the life of the Commandant of the Azure Brigade.

She blinked, "More tolerable huh. Why would you feel that anyone else in this lovely world is less tolerable other than the occasional player. I myself haven't ran into anyone who I have felt to be unpleasant even the npc's have been nice to me."  Looking back she noticed that the server carried with him her order a cup of hot chocolate and a crepe to boot. Both looked extremely delicious just like the ones she use to get for breakfast back at her house. She slowly lifted the crepe to her mouth and began nibbling at i like a rabbit. As he mentioned her father being smart and this never happening again she could honestly believe it happening again. "Still that is all meaning that I manage to survive through all of this. "Anyway what have you been doing in SAO, obviously you must have been powerleveling or assisting in on the boss battles to get to this level. Are you part of a guild or just one of those solo players who just go crazy against the bosses?"

"You haven't met enough people, or maybe they're just nicer to you for various reasons." Zelrius said, in light of all the back lash and hate h's gotten from the likes of Azide and Takao. That, however, was another story for another day, Zelrius wasn't here to be lost in his thoughts and reach a mental state of hate for the world. As of now, he was relaxing in an inn with someone whom he just met, and honestly, he was fairly happy at the moment, a rare concurrence in recent events. It was at that moment that Zelrius' menu reminded him of a Wedding event within a few hours and he gave a sigh, closing it and then looked back to Erin. For a moment, the golden haired Commandant fought off his emotions of sadness as he thought of Tristan, his only true friend in the world, was being whisked away by a girl. Zelrius' smile faded in moments, the thought of which was detrimental to his mood. Attempting to fake another smile, Zelrius replied to Erin. "As I said when we met, I am Commandant of the Azure Brigade. An Elitist guild that only invites the best to be in. As for SAO in general, if you want the full story, You'll have to ask nicely. Quick TL;DR though: Lots of grinding, Boss fights, Guild Politics, and boredom. Nothing special,"

"That could be possible, that and most of them have been female although I use to be much harsher in video games ... until I guess I got terrified of this one for obvious reasons." She looked down to her mug as she took a few more bites finishing off her crepe completely. Her hand lightly clutching the spoon and stirring about the hot chocolate as the steam emanated off of it. "Commandant, you certainly have made yourself well known in this world if you are that high up in the guild," She eyed him looking past that fake smile of his. She couldn't have been certain about all of this but he didn't seem quite as happy as he once was at the start of this gathering. "Is something going the matter? I hope that I didn't offend you or anything I honestly didn't mean to but you seem a bit gloomy about something? Want to talk?" She smiled again as stopped her stirring motion that had kept the spoon swirling about long after she removed her hand from it.

"All I advise is that you are careful of other people. Not everyone is sunshine and flowers, especially not in SAO." As he made this comment, his throughts drifted to people like Mari and Daeron, whom were cruel and mean for no reason in particular. While the two were always nice the Zelrius, they seemed to just jump the gun on other people and intentionally be mean. For a moment, Zelrius glanced at the creoe and regretted not ordering one, but didn't say or make any facial expressions to it, Switching his attention back, the boy answered Erin's reply. "Known? More like infamous..." He was certainly notorious for various things, of which he really didn't feel like recalling at this moment. He jumped slightly at her questioning him. It was rare that anyone noticed his inner feelings and then asked him about them. For a moment, Zelrius let the smile fade and he creased an eyebrow at her, wondering and curious. Re-giving his smile, "No, nothing is wrong, Mon Cheri. Just gave thought to a friend's wedding, and decided I should probably head there soon."
