She had yet to pay a visit, but Teion had heard that Isen had opened up a Tailoring shop on the third floor. She had also heard that he was fresh out of materials, and she jumped on the chance to go hunting with him again. She was out of materials again herself, so she was hopeful that the both of them would be able to get a lot today. She had sent him a message the previous day and they agreed to meet just outside of town on the first floor. She had an extra piece of armor to lend him that would give him a solid amount of mitigation, so she was hopeful they could venture out to the more dangerous parts of the level without worry.

She leaned up against the bark of a heavy tree a fair distance away from the city gates, waiting patiently for him before starting the search for materials.

Making his way to the first floor to meet Teion, Isen tried to quell the worry in his stomach. Considering his past luck hunting, he had some trepidation about farming monsters. Hopefully the bits of gear he had been able to collect would be enough.

The man saw Teion leaning against a tree near their appointed meeting spot and picked up his pace. Waving, he called, "Good morning! Here's hoping we get enough materials to set us up for a while."

Turning towards the open field, he asked with a bit of worry in his voice, "Ready?"

Teion grinned, pulling her axe out from behind her. She gave a small wave as Isen approached. She was about to make a quick turn and head out before stopping as she remembered something. "Oh!" She stopped next to him, swiping her hand in the air in front of her and pulling up a menu. She opened a trade window and dropped in a rare armor, Shining Guard. She hit accept and waited a moment for the trade to complete. "Here, you can borrow this for today. It'll help you out a ton in combat." Isen didn't seem very much for plate armor, but she was hoping the bulky protection was worth it, especially since she was hoping to explore farther out from the city where they would likely find some stronger monsters than before.

When the trade was complete, Teion wasted no time in setting out into the field. She spotted a small swarm of hornets a short distance away. Running up to them, the blade of her axe glowed a bright blue and she slid to a stop, swinging her axe in front of her and cleaving the giant insects all at once. Their HP dropped to zero and their bodies shattered in a bright light. She took a deep breath, grinning again with confidence as she turned back to Isen and gave him a thumbs-up.

Isen accepted the armor and equipped it. It was much bulkier than he was used to, and he would have preferred leather, but he certainly would not turn down the extra protection it offered. He equipped his coat over it and turned to Teion. "Thank you! This puts me a bit more at ease hunting out here." He was about to suggest they get started when she was already running off, cleaving through monsters. 

He decided to start off small, and took to searching the ground first. He came up with some loose plants, happy to have found something already.

Teion sheathed her axe behind her as Isen foraged nearby. "So I've heard of some caves that are out past the open field areas. I was thinking we could check those out. Maybe we can find some rare loot!" She said excitedly, making her way through the grassy areas. She ignored some of the sparse boars wandering around nearby. They had a chance for loot, of course, but she was feeling eager to be exploring again. She hadn't been out of her comfort zone in quite some time, and having someone else along helped to boost her confidence.

Isen followed Teion as she spoke. "Sure! Sounds like we should be able to find something interesting down there." As they walked, he scanned the ground, looking for more parts he could use. Noticing something, he carefully bent down and dug out a small plant, adding it to his inventory.

He worried a bit about facing stronger creatures, but he was confident that the armor Teion made him would keep him safe.

The pair continued the trek for a while until they could see a small cave in the distance, still within the grassy area. She squinted, making out the creatures skittering around in front of the entrance were...spiders. "Urk..." A displeased sound escaped her and she frowned. She looked around, not spotting any other caves until much farther out, and sighed. "Well, it's not glamorous, but it's a cave." She took a breath and steeled herself as she pulled out her axe again. A small group of spiders stood idly in the surrounding grass. She bounced lightly on the balls of her feet before forcing herself onward and starting her attack. The creatures were nearly half her size, but with a strong sweep of her axe she managed to critically hit, causing them all to drop at once. Relieved, she figured the mobs around here weren't too much higher level. "Shall we?"

Isen stopped short as Teion waded into battle. He watched her sweep through a pack of spiders as if they were made of cloth. Emboldened by her charge, he found a slightly smaller spider and used his new claws to swipe at it. Surprisingly, it exploded in a burst of pixels at the lightest touch, leaving the fighter with a stunned look on his face.

"Apparently that one was just a baby..." he laughed, turning to Teion. "Shall we continue?"

Teion kept her axe at the ready as she ventured into the cave. It was dark, but it didn't look like it went very far, so the bright sunshine outside provided enough light for them to see the back of the cave wall. She spotted another single spider skittering around, this one much smaller, and dropped her blade down on it, easily killing the creature. It seemed like a baby as well, which just left her with a creeping feeling that there had to be bigger spiders around to make smaller spiders. She had been collecting an impressive amount of materials so far, so she decided she would have to deal with the unsettling atmosphere for the sake of treasure.

Isen followed Teion down into the cave, weapons at the ready. They seemed to have hit a small stretch of empty caverns, as nothing was attacking them yet. Speaking quietly so as to not draw unwanted attention, he said, "It looks like they are further down. Most of them probably avoid the light outside; we should be careful."

On the way down, he noticed that the walls seemed to be glowing. Coming closer to the side of the hallway, he saw that it was a luminescent moss. He added it to his inventory, sure he could use it somehow.

Teion walked slowly as they continued through the cave. She kept a cautious grip on the handle of her axe and squinted to see clearly in the dim light. It wasn't long before they came upon a dead end, and Teion looked around a bit puzzled. "Ehh? Is that it?" She asked herself in confusion. Eventually, her gaze drifted upwards to the high cave ceiling, and she jumped back with a startled cry. "Eek!" She brought her weapon up in front of her, trying not to fumble. A huge spider dropped down from the ceiling, landing in front of them. The monster wasted no time in trying to strike them, but luckily missed them both. Teion tried to calm herself and react quickly, bringing her blade up and coming down along its side. She hit her mark, but the blow didn't deal as much damage as she'd expected. She mentally cursed herself, realizing her energy had barely started regenerating. If she were able to use a sword art, she would've done some serious damage.

Isen froze, startled by the sudden drop the monster made. Fortunately, it landed clumsily and missed them both. Teion took what seemed like a strong swing at it, but her axe appeared to barely scratch the spider. Isen carefully made his way around it, and attempted to strike from behind. He dealt a glancing blow, barely making a mark. '...This might take a while...' he thought, shocked by how well armored the beast seemed to be.

Teion took a deep breath, steadying herself as Isen attacked after her. The spider took another swipe at her, luckily paying him no attention. Fortunately, the monster either didn't have much accuracy or she was having good lucky with dodging today. Teion hopped out of the way of the beast's attack and gripped her axe to prepare another strike. She saw her energy had ticked up just enough for her to afford her go-to sword art, Ultimate Breaker. Draining her energy yet again, her blade glowed brightly before she threw three consecutive strikes at the monster, leaving three bright red gashes across its front. The spider reeled back and its HP dropped considerably with the attack.

Seeing Teion's massive attack force the creature to reel back, Isen took the opportunity to move back in and swipe at its hindquarters. He managed to land another glancing blow, leaving three tiny marks. 'I'll just have to keep chipping away at it while Teion takes the brunt of it.' He felt bad for her having to tank the beast, but he knew he would stand no chance against it.

As the spider swiped at her once more, the creature stumbled and missed completely. Luckily, they seemed to be doing a pretty good job of taking down the monster, even if it was a lengthy fight. As she brought down her axe, her base attack didn't do much to it, but her critical caused the bleed to refresh, slowly ticking the monster's health down. Teion grinned, seeing its HP run dangerously low--hopefully one more successful attack would finish it off.

Isen saw the spider sway, and went in for the kill. He put all of his force behind a horizontal slash and left a set of red slashes in the beast's abdomen, and it exploded in a cloud of pixels. A loot window popped up as he caught his breath, and he frowned, seeing that it only dropped one material.

"Well, that was disappointing. Where to next?"

Teion frowned with the disappointing drop, putting her axe away and taking a deep breath. The fight tired her out, especially since she started out with so little energy. Placing her hands on her hips, she squinted and looked back towards the way they came. "Well, maybe we should avoid any more big ones..." She trailed off, starting to walk slowly back towards the entrance of the cave. They'd been in no danger of dying, but the reward wasn't worth the time they had to spend dealing only a little damage at a time. She spotted a shining vein of ore along the edge of the path, stopping a moment to pull out her axe and take a swing at it. The managed to collect a piece that she could place in her inventory.

"You would think big ones would drop better loot... I think I'm just unlucky," Isen laughed. As they made their way out of the cavern, he attempted to find more glowmoss or any other plants, but was unsuccessful. 

They left the cave and came up topside, where they began to search for monsters and other materials. As he searched, he thought of what he needed to do with anymore materials he got. First would be Emerath's coat, followed by a tool. Thinking this prompted him to ask, "If I got materials and col, would you be able to make me some tools?"

Teion exhaled loudly,  "Mm, I think it comes down to luck for everyone." She shrugged, trying to forget about the disappointing lack of treasure. She shielded her eyes from the bright sun by holding up her hand. "Well, there are probably bigger caves a bit farther. We can head over that way if you want!" She suggested. Bending down to retrieve a bundle of herbs hiding in the grass, she smiled at Isen's question. "Yeah, definitely! A tool will help you out a lot, especially if you're just starting."

Hopefully we will get luckier on drops." Isen began heading in the direction of the other caves, looking for materials along the way. Unfortunately, none were to be found. He kept pace with Teion on the way, on the lookout for any other hostile monsters.
