[PP-F3] Fancy necklace «Search for the Hoya»

Recommended Posts

Allania had agreed to meet up with Hydra a few days ago, agreeing to meet up and try to do another quest. This time they'd be up on the third floor, a floor that Allania did not frequent, opting for the deserts blistering heat over anything else. It seemed like a simple enough task that they were going to set out and do. All they need do is navigate the forest to find a fancy person's tomb, fight some sort of guardian and then pick up the pendant. Allania had heard that it was a prized treasure, an item perfect as a gift for wedding, be it you who was getting married or as a gift to the happy couple.

The day was a mild one, not hot like the desert above, but not warm either. It would likely only get colder as they ventured into the forest, the canopy of the leaves blocking the sun which she was currently basking in. Sun? Allania had a moments weird thought, did they have a sun on every floor, and were all the same size. She knew that stars came in a large variety of sizes and where even was this star? As there was a floor above their heads, so it could not be that far away, could it?

Shaking her head of the thought, Allania continued on to where they had planned to meet, on the edge of the third floors main settlement.

"Ahhhh" Hydra let out a long satisfying sigh as he basked in the cool conditions of the third floor, he twirled his hair as he lay on the prairie fields. The spearman reached over to his left and plucked a daisy from it's stem. He took a gentle sniff, truly taking in the aurora of his surroundings. The peace lasted a few moments "I feel like im forgetting something..." His relaxed face screwed up when he remembered he had another quest to do with Allania. He let out a small groan and picked himself off, the variety of flowers and individual blade's of grass he had been picking at all fell off him at once. "So do you remember where we were going Twilight?" His familiar was flying around so carefree like a bumble bee on a summer's day. The brunette decided to leave her to her own thing and took off towards Delilah village, a medieval town which gave him flashbacks of the area he lived in England.

The best thing about this floor was the vast array of flowers of all colors, Hydra decided to equip his own cherry blossom pin from the spring festival. He hadn't remembered much of it but it didn't bother him. After walking through the town, browsing the shops and sinking his teeth into a candy apple. The player eventually arrived at the meeting point, a small forest. He was only a few hours late and was sure Allania wouldn't mind.

Allania had waited there a long time. After the first half an hour she concluded that he was going to be late, that or he had forgotten. Deciding just standing there would be dull Allania sat herself down on the ground and decided to have a short nap. She would wait until the day hit twilight, as with night came to monsters that made the mobs from the day look like fluffy sheep.

As she lay there, the air cool upon her face, the ground soft beneath her, the floor's moss acting like a bed, soft and welcoming. In such peaceful conditions Allania quickly fell to sleep, breathing in and out slowly and silently, obscured by some bracken surrounding her. She had chosen the spot to lie as it was comfortable yet offered some cover from any mobs that came wandering through the clearing.

Hydra found Allania sound asleep on a bed of moss, he wasn't surprised he had taken his time getting there. "I best not disturb her... Now what shall I do?" The spearman looked around for anything interesting, a sense of peace and serenity surrounded him. He felt like there would be nothing that would give him more freedom than watching the stars. A small glade opened up not far from where Allania was resting, just in case anything were to happen they'd both be close by. Hydra sat himself on a fallen tree trunk and let his shoulders relax. A vast array of digital lights covered the sky, it would be nice to go up and grab them. Several floors also dotted the skylight, there shadows made out from the small lights. The brunette had nothing else to do so started humming a tune to himself (<sound of tune hummed>) he kept it down, just in case any monsters were lingering by.

Allania slowly awoke, her eyes opening a fraction at first, expecting there to be the blinding light of the Sun piercing through the canopy. She was not blinded however, it was dark, and her eyes needed to adjust. Groaning quietly as she pushed herself up into a sitting position Allania looked around, see that it was night. I must have overslept, I wonder if Hydra ever did turn up, she thought to herself. With it night time Allania thought it best to probably head on off back to the safezone, however while she was readying herself to leave she heard a faint humming, carrying over the bustle of the leaves around her. Curious as to what it was Allania headed in the sounds direction, quickly spotting Hydra who was sat up against a tree. "Hey" she called out to him, trying to keep her voice quiet so as not to startle him.

Hydra heard the voice of Allania rippling through the tree's. "Oh you're awake..." He said turning his head. "Sorry I got a little held back in the village." Slowly he raised himself from his seated position, "What was this quest we were given again?" The brunette made sure to keep his voice down at the risk of any monsters that may have been near by. Remembering that it had something or other to retrieve a pendant of sorts. The spearman unsheathed his new spear and tested the point, sinking it into the dead bark of the tree. It cut through nicely, it gave him more confidence and more security.

"Don't worry about it, I had a nice nap while I was waiting for you" she said with a small yawn. "Nice spear" she said while admiring the new weapon her friend had, it looked nice, though as a weapon it was something that was a bit bulky for herself. "Oh yeah, the quest, it's to go find this tomb place and get an item. Simple find and gather, though as it is a tomb there will likely be some form of guardian or protection upon it, so it's good to see that you've brought your weapon with you". It was already dark, so finding the Tomb was going to be even harder, the forest was supposed to be akin to a labyrinth by day, so who knows what kind of torture it would be like during the night, though Allania opted to keep that for herself. "Shall we set off then?" she opted.

"Thanks and sure, is this tomb in the forests of wavering mists by any chance? I hear rumors it is guarded by a group of red Minotaur..." The thought sent a shiver down his spine, he quickly checked his pockets for any rope thinning back to the mythology of Theseus, unfortunately he had nothing like that to use. "Ah guess I will have to make do with out." Once he was done foraging around he nodded to Allania who had now become the stronger of the two. If he were to lead he had no doubt it would end in him walking directly into a tree. The brunette let out a yawn and waited for further instructions, the chill of the night settling down on his body.

"I believe it is, " Allania admitted, "And red Minotaur? That sounds like it will be interesting" Allania noted, looking forward to the potential battle ahead of her. Allania did not really know how to get to this tomb, just that it resided within the woods. "Well, to be honest with you" Allania said, puffing out her chest a little and looking off dramatically "I have no clue where the place is within the forest" she said with a smile on her face, and feigned pride in her posture. "Shall we head in this direction?" she asked, pointing in an arbitrary direction, it was into the forest, but apart from that she was no more specific. "Though I am open to suggestions" she added before beginning to walk off in the direction she had motioned.

Hydra laughed a little, he hadn't explored much of floor 3, so he agreed that there was no general direction to go off. "Good idea!" With that he started to tail the dagger user, keeping an eye out for any signs they were getting near. The spearman assumed that any sign of mist would be the easier way to tell how close they were getting. "You know I hear there's a great treasure to be found in the forest of wavering mists..." He mumbled, his voice lacked the enthusiasm the sentence deserved. Other than small talk he remained silent most the way, much was his introverted nature. Hydra felt comfortable in remaining silent around people he knew. "Trees here trees there..." He repeated in his mind as they casually strolled along. Something seemed a little off and his eyes were growing remarkably heavy, he was also yawning far more than usual.

With Hydra's word instilling a tad of confidence in her, knowing that neither of them had a clue really as to where they were meant to be going just that it was hidden deep within the forest. They walked together in a content silence, weaving their way through the trees of the forest. The silence was nice, comforting, they had become so familiar that they needed not to speak every instant, it was nice to have a friend like this in the world. They had been wandering about for the better part of an hour, or that's what it felt like and they seemed to have made no progress, for all she knew they could have ended up walking in circle such was the weaving path they took. There was no beaten path here, so who knew how close they were their goal, or if they were going the correct direction.

Hydra stopped walking whilst Allania went up ahead. He tried calling out but his voice had grown weary. "Urgh..." The brunette glanced around, he saw the tree stump the pair had been at before. "Didn't we pass this?" The brunette suddenly became very concerned, had they just been walking in a circle for ages. Gulping to himself he glanced around, he felt insecure as though something deep within the forests were watching him. Hydra grasped the hilt of his spear and stood in the opening. His eyes were alert and animalistic, like a wolf that was stalking it's prey. Only this time he was the prey defending himself from whatever was out there in the forest.

Allania slowed her pace as she noticed Hydra was beginning to flag behind her, unsure what was up she slowed to a halt. Something was clearly wrong, Hydra had a crazed look in his eyes, one that she had not seen before. His hand was upon his spear, his head darting from side to side, as if looking for something. Walking towards him, Allania drew her dagger and held it up in a defensive position, her back to his so thy could see from all angles, her eyes scouring the woods for something amiss. Over her shoulder she whispered to Hydra "What's the matter?".

The sound of someone approaching caused Hydra to quickly swing his weapon around, his spear cut through the air and found itself being pointed at Allania... The brunette was surprised, he had completely forgotten she had been with him "Sorry... we've been fooled..." He responded in a serious tone. The sound of a branch snapping caused his attention to quickly divert. He remained in a low position, almost like he was stalking the area but instead backing up as the sounds grew nearer. "I think this is the forest of Wavering Mists... we've been trapped since we started." With each breath his sense grew cleaner, a cold sweat ran down his body. Hydra quickly glanced at Allania and signaled to move down another route in the forest than the one that had sent them in a loop.

When the spear was turned on her Allania stopped for a moment, unsure how to respond to the tip in her face. When Hydra apologised Allania flashed an understanding smile then went to her position at his back. "Trapped?" Allania repeated, she knew that this place had been deemed a labyrinth by the players of the world but she had not realised it would be so subtle. Seeing his signal to move Allania followed his direction, whispering to him "take the lead, I'll keep our back guarded", still looking around for any and all enemies that could be approaching her. It was an eerie place this forest, especially at night time. This is why I wanted to come here during the day, she thought.

Hydra listened to Allania and nodded, his sense of direction wasn't great but his sense were particularly keen right now. "How long have we been here?" Hydra thought to himself as the pair strolled through the forests. As the spearman walked forward he felt something pressing under his boot. "Huh..." He glanced down at his feet and saw several human like bones scattering the floor. He was already paranoid but this took the breath out of him. Deep down he repeated to himself that they were cosmetic, implemented into the VR by a code, players burst into crystals after all. Something about it sent him into discomfort though, they looked almost real. Hydra staggered backwards into a tree parshly in discomfort and parshly in disgust. "The Red Minotaur..." he muttered, "Dammit..."

Allania followed on behind Hydra, her eyes ,looking out for any potential danger, every so often she got distracted though, looking about, her mind wandering as she wandered. Allania wasn't paying attention when Hydra suddenly began to stagger backwards, only noticing when he was about to collide with her. In response Allania twisted her body out of the way, she had avoided Hydra but was off balance herself. Allania hopped about, her hands waving around her as she tried to regain a sure footing. Once she had recovered she turned to Hydra, curious as to what the issue was, "Is everything okay?" she asked him, concern written upon her face.

Hydra just pointed at the bones when Allania asked him if he was okay. "Do you think they are real?" he felt slightly stupid asking that question. Something in his mind suddenly clicked, "If these are bones, it could be likely that this temple is around." The spearman's voice carried with the mist that had suddenly become thicker, soon it would be hard to see. The brunette didn't know what to do so simply stood back and awaited Allania to react to the situation. The sound of owls twooting could be heard amongst the tree's, it truly felt like he was trapped in a horror story.

Allania walked up behind Hydra, rested her chin on his shoulder and looked down his arm at where he was pointing. What she saw was a bone, most likely from a human. Allania gasped, taking in a breath before remembering where they were, this is SAO, bones aren't a thing that occur here unless decorative, she thought, when things die here they explode into pixels so it must be cosmetic. Re-assured in herself now, Allania slowly let out her breath before wandering around Hydra's arm to get a better look. Crouching down she inspected it, before picking it up and biting hard into the bone. In front of her a purple sign popped up saying 'immortal object', she then turned to Hydra, a smile on her face and said "it's just cosmetic, see" before throwing the bone towards him.

While she was distracted by the bone Allania did not spot the enemy approaching them, when she had looked up and threw the bone she noticed a hulking figure of red fur behind Hydra. It looked to be one of the minotaurs that had been mentioned to her when taking this quest, "it seems like we're here" she said with a gulp, taking out her dagger from its sheath at her hip.

Hydra saw Allania go over to the bone and casually lift from the ground, he turned around and almost threw up. What made it worst was when she lobbed it towards him. "Blurgh..." He went behind a tree and threw up on the floor. "Don't do that!" He noticed she had her dagger out and was looking at him. He casually stared back for a few seconds before shrugging in confusement, "What?" Then he realized, the sound of huffing behind him made his face go pale. His first instinct was to dive forward screaming in tears as he did so. Fortunately this was the right call, the Minotaur's axe swung over his head. Still screaming and closing his eyes in fear he turned around and started slashing at the area the minotaur was stood. The first few hits caused it to shatter into crystals, he hadn't realized and was now just hitting mid air. After expending half his energy from the sword art he carefully peeked only to see nothing of the beast remained.
