[PP-06] Deforestation - Flame Kitty Fiasco

Recommended Posts

Freyd was leaning against a nearby tree trunk, blending in surprisingly well with the shadows cast by the surrounding greenery.  He watched the exchange from beneath his cowl with the appearance of disinterest, but his ears focused intently on their words.  He had no interest in giving these people anything for free.  Merchants didn't stay in business long if they operated that way, and he'd only just opened up his shop a few weeks ago.  Vigilon didn't strike him as the foolish type either.  Surely, he wouldn't part with his newly acquired prize so easily?

"Maybe you two should just go collect your own, if you have such grand plans," he added.  Something clearly wasn't right with these two.  The woman, with her red hood, gave him an especially creepy vibe.  Lifting his sword to rest on his shoulder, he urged Vigilon onward towards the Amazon settlement.  "We can't afford to linger," he added in a voice barely above a whisper.

Freyd would simply tell the two players to just get their own if they had such grand plans. "Put it this way, We've recieved word from our allies that an attack has been planned against us. We need that <<Tiger Rage>> to help the underprepared members of our Guild so that their damage can be high enough to repel our assailants." The Female player explained. "Gah, those creeps from the Ultramarine Tide are gonna get it...they messed with the wrong Guild." The male player muttered. "...Alright, say that I actually buy this, who are you guys?" Vigilon asked, hoping that any answer they give might help him in finalizing his decision, which still seemed likely to be no. The Male player stood tall and firm. "We are the Knights of Cinnabar. Our goal is to rise up, so that we may play our part for the players' freedom, leading the charge, and expanding our horizons throughout the lands of Aincrad!" He proclaimed. So they were aiming to be a frontliners' Guild? "That little hodgepodge they call the frontlines can't possibly last much longer...A group more organized should be leading the charge. When the time comes, we'll take it from there, no one else could possibly handle it..." The female player noted. "I don't like where you're going with this..." Vigilon noted. "You guys want to take control of the frontlines entirely and indefinitely? Good luck with that." He remarked. "You want this potion so bad? You'll have to earn it. Half-Loss Duel." Vigilon decided, considering teaching these two a lesson. He looked over to Freyd. "Feel like teaching these two a lesson?" He asked with a smirk on his face.

Freyd watched silently as the exchange played out, his body still as a statue yet poised for action.

"You want this potion so bad? You'll have to earn it. Half-Loss Duel." Vigilon had declared, then turning to him and asking whether he wanted to teach them a lesson.

"No," Freyd replied, flatly and completely serious.  "They're taunting you and you're taking their bait - picking their fight for them.  I have better and more important things to do than engage in wasteful combat with a bunch of self-important thugs and blowhards."  He clearly meant the other two players.  Without waiting for a reaction, Freyd continued in the direction of the forest village of Krycim, leaving Vigilon in the awkward position of having just challenged two other players to a duel.  Freyd's party icon and stats vanished from Vigilon's UI a moment later.

"Don't slip on any branches this time.  Good luck."  And then he was gone.
