  2. Home stretch. It had come to Oscar’s attention - after a long conversation with Sin - that the Guild was on the precipice of maxing out. As it turned out, when the entire group showed up to take on Field Bosses, the Token rewards were off the charts. By her calculations, it would only take one more run of Suppression in order to max out their Guild Rank. Which Vitalis supposed was one of the reasons why Oscar called them out to this hellhole. Vitalis didn’t do well with the heat. And it didn’t get much hotter than standing next to a volcano’s caldera. With the group assembled, he wasted n
  3. Vitalis had been in the neighborhood when the call went out. And by “in the neighborhood,” he was of course dumping every drop of energy he had into keeping the brave and stupid newbies alive. He had been lounging against the barrier wall, waiting for his energy bar to tick back up when Oscar and Warren hit the scene. His initial relief was dashed as the two of them both missed their marks by a mile. At least they were lamenting their ineptitude. Vitalis, now with a full energy bar, made his approach. It was around that time that the rest of the Guild showed up. They pushed through
  4. “Oh my God,” Vitalis said. “Get a room.” “I plan to,” Sin interjected. Vitalis sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. He shouldn’t complain. They didn’t need his babysitting. And though he was happy to do it, this was a nice break as far as he was concerned. He snapped his fingers again, activating <<Inspiring Speech>> to refresh everyone’s cooldowns before the boss fight started in earnest. “This is about all I got left in the tank,” he said. “Make it count.” Really, it was the perfect amount. Haste prevented him from regenerating energy from any sources afte
  5. “So has anyone else actually run a dungeon before?” Vitalis had. Or, at least, he had been present for a group that did run one. He’d always show up halfway through, when the strangers were stuck in and about to die. He never did see a clear though. Once they got their health up, most of the time they ran for the hills. Which was the pragmatic option. Better to live to fight another day. But everything he’d seen from his fellow Visionary members told him he would - for the first time - see the end of one. Which he honestly considered to be a treat. Any time he got to experience somet
  6. “Oh that’s a big boy,” Vitalis remarked with a whistle as the group found their way to the Midnight Ripper. It was a touch too close to the Settlement for anyone’s comfort. Which he supposed was why they were here. Why the Quest was called <<Suppression>>. Killing the thing would reset it back to its original spawn location - hopefully comfortably very far away from any unsuspecting or unprepared Players. “You guys know the deal,” he said. He brought his hand up, thumb and middle finger touching. With a snap, he commanded the winds. A burst of emerald light washing over the pa
  7. Vitalis nodded in agreement. He didn’t partake of any of the buffs. He didn’t need to. The one-trick pony of the party. It just so happened that his one trick was pretty goddamn good. He leaned against a wall, just outside of the safe zone. He really didn’t want to have to deal with dodging the guards. At some point, he would probably need to go do Redemption. At least to get this headache off of his head. But, what would happen the next time he was on one of his nightly strolls? Seemed like a whole lot of effort just to earn himself an Orange cursor again. Besides, he didn’t need to be a
  8. “You all never fail to impress,” Vitalis said. He’d always kept to himself. Content to wander - heal and help and save. He viewed it as a stroke of fortune to find people that not only shared his ideals, but were competent enough that he didn’t need to worry too much about them. They were not immortal, he knew that. But what might have made a lesser party quake did nothing to phase them. Just what had they witnessed and experienced together to make them all into these hardened veterans? It didn’t matter. He wouldn’t dwell on it. He would, however, enjoy times like these. Moments wher
  9. The tornado deposited them some distance away. Out of the Safe Zone and right into the fire. Before the group stood the Wicked Witch of the West - with all of her flying monkeys assembled behind her. She was just standing there. Menacingly. The hooting of her servants at the appearance of their new victims filled the air. Shrill. Terrifying. Well, it should have been anyway. Vitalis smoothed out his shirt, plucking errant twigs and leaves from the fabric. He didn’t seem to be at all perturbed. Why would he be? This boss was supposed to be by and large easier than anything else they h
  10. And it wasn’t a power play or anything. It was a kindness, she thought. Taking some of the responsibility off of Oscar’s shoulders. Actually being the Guild Officer she was, rising to the responsibility that Oscar had given her. The man had a sixth sense for things she found. Able to look straight through someone and see their untapped potential. Had he seen that in her? Had he seen some competent leader hiding behind that succubus veneer? While she waited, Sinnamon picked up a dusty tome that was meant to start the quest. As she did, the Teleportation Platform flared to life. O
  11. They were absolutely fucking insane. Touched in the head. What party just takes a break for comedy in the middle of a fight? Weren’t they supposed to be fighting for their survival? Being cautious and safe and trying to live another day. He looked out over them, horrified at first. But that soon abated. Why was he concerned? Their health bars were full. They were okay. Hell, the boss didn’t even get an opportunity to really attack - if you didn’t count that fire breath that Warren ate. So why shouldn’t they just enjoy themselves? Vitalis made himself useful, searching around the towe
  12. Arriving at the tower, the group made their way up to the top through a ruined staircase. It was much larger than it looked in the distance. The trek to the top took almost as long as the trek just to get to it. Finally, after much effort, they all made it to the top. But they wouldn’t have any time to rest. “That’s a big fuck off dragon,” Vitalis remarked. “Hold on, I’ve got something for this.” Vitalis had been saving something in the wings just for such an occasion. The dragon clocked them, swiveling her head in their direction. Vitalis raised one hand and snapped his fingers.
  13. “I AM OVER HERE!” Vitalis’ booming voice called everyone to attention. He stood outside of the entrance to the settlement, path barred by a big fuck-off minotaur with a wicked looking axe. “THE MINOTAURS CAN’T GET ME HERE!” The rest of the group exchanged glances, then quickly helped themselves to the food Oscar provided. After they were done, they made their way out of town, quickly joining their healer outside of the settlement. “Have you considered getting rid of that cursor,” Warren asked, draping his arm over Vitalis’ shoulder as they walked. “How? Solo quest. I
  14. Just who were these people? They were insanely efficient. It was almost scary. A far cry from the parties on the brink that he normal involved himself with. But, then again, he normally joined at the eleventh hour. When everything had already gone to shit and he had to heal for everything he had in order to keep them alive. But he’d barely done anything. “That was impressive,” Vitalis said. “Eh. We just work well together.” An absolute fucking understatement. “I can tell.” “Reminds me. I should take your name off the register. Totally didn’t mean to rope you in. U
  15. Arriving at the Paradise Islands, their target presented itself almost immediately. It was by and large the sort of boss that Vitalis had yet to fight. He’d mostly kept himself to the lower floors, so a crab the size of a house was definitely something that was outside of his scope. He was a bit concerned - if only for a moment - whether his party could deal with such a beast. And then he looked around. Not a one of them seemed particularly concerned with the presence of the boss. They milled about, readying their weapons and looking… bored. That was a bit of a departure from the no
