"Let's end this!" He shouted as he charged forward, his ring of lunar might shimmering within his weapon, waiting to be unleashed. He leaped into the air and spun once, drawing a circle around himself with his spear, the pent up energy following the blade of his weapon. The ring hummed and sat in place for a moment before expanding outward, catching all of the creatures hard, destroying one and adding his critical effects to the remaining two Gatekeepers.
Beat landed and grinned as he watched the two gatekeepers' health bars drain. He turned a malicious gaze towards the Black Guardian, "Looks like my time table has moved up. You're mine now!." -

Weeping Wounds - Every target that attacks Fenrir will suffer 75 Thorns damageRed, pixelated blood dripped from Fenrir's wounds as it panted, realizing that its' demise was upon it. With so many players to keep track of, it was having a terrible time avoiding the majority of their assault. Still, the fact that it was managing to evade at all was impressive and Beat figured that a smaller group would have been significantly pressured by this encounter.
Surprised there isn't a player maximum on this guy. We just have too many cannons pointed at this guy. I almost feel sorry for him...almost...
As everyone continued to force the beast in various directions, Beat maneuvered behind Fenrir, approaching from the air to remain silent as it snarled at Shield. "Where are you looking!?" He shouted as he released his dimensional stampede and was pleasantly surprised to see his critical effects makes each strike tht much more powerful. Each blow seemed to blow away a part of Fenrir's body as he howled in agony before finally bursting into a shower of red pixels.
Beat landed and pumped his fist into the air as he beamed at everyone, "Yeah! Well done everyone!"

He was suddenly happy that they had rested before the fight and wondered if they would have had enough energy to finish this fight without taking the extra time. They were in no rush, but it was something in him that enjoyed pushing their limits.
Okay, let's keep pushing!
Fenrir moved across the battlefield, attempting to shake his pursuers and no real avenue of escape as Beat's spear glowed once more. With a sharp turn, Beat cut the wolf off guard as he let his attack loose once again, pelting the creature's body with another rain of blows that continued to chip away at its ever decreasing health pool. They were so close to victory under the hardest possible condition a group like this one could hope for. -

A feeling of exhilaration filled his body as Beat triggered his charge skill. A sinister, red aura surrounded him and made him feel as if the slightest movement forward would send him flying. He dug his heels into the ground beneath him and eyed the frost wolf menacingly.
"You never really had a chance, but you should at least see what we're really capable of."
His spear left a shimmering trail behind him as he closed the distance to his target in an instant, his approach creating a thunderous boom as his sword art went off. Each strike dug deeper into that strengthened hide, bring an eve wider smile to Beat's face. As his attack expired, he looked at the wounded creature, who was now covered in red, glowing marks, "I'm not going anywhere now. You and I are going to hang out until this is finished." -

Weeping Wounds - Every target that attacks Fenrir will suffer 75 Thorns damageThe steady pace of a controlled fight wasn't always the most interesting, but it was a good sign that everything was going to plan, and that meant people were safe. Chase's health was improving steadily and Shield continued to hold Fenrir's attention. Beat glanced at their target's health and knew what was coming. The last part of Ragnarok was the most dangerous part. With how much damage the group could put out, Beat figured they would be fine, but not everyone had his precision.
Bad luck can cost lives in this game...Beat shook off any pessimistic thoughts and ran forward once more, the air whipping around as he flew into a furious combination of strikes that brought Fenrir ever-closer to his ultimate form. Beat could feel each blow being stopped just a little more and it was frustrating to see his own health going down as well. He growled and created some distance between the two of them as he prepared to charge.

Weeping Wounds - Every target that attacks Fenrir will suffer 75 Thorns damageWith another round of attacks behind them, Beat's eyes glanced up at his HUD. Chase's health was lower than he was comfortable with and Fenrir had just managed to heal himself and his stats had gone up considerably. Still, with Shield holding aggro and Fenrir showing no evidence that he possessed an area of effect attack, Beat figured Chase was safe enough as long as he didn't manage to pull threat somehow.
Alright, everything seems under control for now...With Ragnarok under way, Beat knew the rest of the plan. His battle spear shimmered with power once more as he ran forward and pelted the wolf with a rapid series of powerful strikes, still without any sign of a critical strike effect. With how much offense the group had brought to the table, Beat figured is wasn't a huge issue, but he did enjoy the extra damage it afforded him.

It was true that between Lilith and his battle healing, here weren't a lot of creature that actually posed a meaningful threat to one of the toughest players in the game. Still, given what they had managed to do, Beat wondered how true Shield's assessment really was. Sure, it would take a while, but even these damage numbers surely had some potential. The younger player ran to Shield's side before charging his attack as one of the creatures leaped in to attack once again.
"Oh no you don't!"
Beat jumped into the air and spun, once again releasing his signature area of effect sword art. The ring of energy expanded, catching the leaping one hard in the face, knocking it on its back along with a healthy collection of DOTs. The others suffered the usual damage, but it was good that Beat now had three creatures suffering his critical effects."You know...there might be something to a dot build..." He said out loud.

The damage was devastating and he swiveled his head toward the sound of Shield's voice. He took off towards the beasts as he shouted towards his partner.
"You take aggro, I'll get them away from him if I can!"
Beat dug his feet into the ground as hard as he could as he filled his weapon with his strongest sword art, his teeth gritted as he continued to stare at Chase's nearly depleted health bar. He leaped into the air as he reached Fenrir, unleashing his sword art with everything he had, hoping for a critical strike. The multitude of strike landed true, but the dark aura imbue to his spear from his pendant never flares and no golden holy light shimmered from the attack.
"Damn!" Beat growled as he finished his assault, managing to draw the gaze of the beast again. The player glared back and brandished his spear twoards the creature, "You won't take any of us today, I swear it!" -

Black Guardian of Chattur'gha: HP: 1158/1,575 | DMG: 420 | MIT: 105 | ACC: 2 | EVA: 2 | Blight [24 - 1/2] Bleed [24 - 1/2] Env [12 - 3/4]Beat watched as Shield strained against the weight of the Black Guardian's claw. The damage was inconsequential, but it was still impressive to see monsters that could inflict any sort of real damage on the sturdy tank. Beat ran forward and torqued his body as he leaped into the air and wiped his spear across the whole group, a pale, yellow wave flying forward and crashing into them.
"Get off of him!"The guardian roared in pain as he lifted his claw off of Shield, while the Gatekeepers were blown back a few feet before regaining their balance and shouting in an unknown language at the spear wielding glass cannon. Beat grinned at them and gave them the finger in response to their taunts, "Don't worry, you'll be done soon enough." He was surprised to see the monsters acknowledging him directly, but it was clear that it was more for flavor and suspense rather than an actual game function.

Weeping Wounds - Every target that attacks Fenrir will suffer 20/50/75 Thorns damage.Watching as the large wolf emerged, Beat remembered the plan and held back the instinct to activate his charge skill and simply maneuvered around the chunks of rock and ice, making his way towards the beast. It snarled as he approached, releasing a chilling roar that pushed against him as he continued to close the distance between them.
"Now now, we can't have a dog that barks like that! Bad dog!" Beat shouted before unleashing his sword art. His form luminesced as fifteen spears seemed to strike out at the frost wielding canine, each one striking unerringly and with thunderous force and each one chipping away at the beast's impressive health pool. Beat's brow furrowed as the attack expired and the canine's angry glare focused on him in a way that told the young player that he would need more than that to bring him down. It was quite the gesture and one Beat planned to challenge. -

Beat blinked as @Mari came over and brushed off his chin. He normally didn't bother wiping his face off until after he was finished, but this woman clearly had a problem with it. Oddly, Beat didn't seem to mind her doting over him as he continued to take bites around her arm. He took his time chewing and swallowed before replying to her, "I doubt it. Most players carry plenty of standard rations. The cooking profession just leaves you with a lot of extra food, so I make things I enjoy."
She looks tired, I think a pick me up is in order!
Beat finished his bento and dismissed the trash back into his inventory before a small thermos of soup appeared in his hand. He grinned and held it out to her, "Here, this soup is good and should wake you up a bit. It has a little bit of a kick to it, but it's not too spicy." -

Beat's fingers danced in the air for a moment before a small bento box appeared in his free hand. He pulled the black chopsticks from the box and began eating as he watched his energy bar slowly refill. He liked to imagine each bite as a certain amount of energy and tried to time bites with a tick up on his energy. The bento itself was rather small, but had a helping of cooked spinach, a small portion of tonkastudon and a small portion of mixed berries. It was a light snack with plenty of energy packed into a small container.
Beat's eyes scanned the group as they recovered, he eyes meeting @Mari's at one point. The gaze lock they held made his stomach tense somewhat before he gave her a bright smile. Something about her always made him want to smile and pass on some of his cheer to her. -
Beat felt as if an opportunity had literally slipped away as she took her hand away and though he didn't quite understand, the knot in his stomach dropped slightly.
What was that?
As they reached the door, the soft glow from the torches lit up their features enough to see. He retrieved her hand that he had unknowingly been missing since they had entered the stairway and stared into her blue eyes, a soft expression on his face despite the somewhat serious tone in his voice, "I know you don't know me too well yet, but you need to know that I don't just say things." He paused for a moment and shook his head, "It feels like lying."
Her next words caused him to squeeze her hand harder as he helped her pushed the door to floor twenty-one open. As he led her towards the hot springs, he turned his head to look at her, his fingers intertwined with hers, "You worry about scaring me and others away a lot I've noticed, but you know," he spoke as the revelation came to him, "I don't scare easily, and I would think that you would come to me before doing something like that."
The sound of the hot springs grew louder as they eventually reached Beat's two-story home which seemed to have a diner attached to the side of it, facing the road. He let her hand go and turned to face her, beaming with a gesture towards his home, "Welcome to Beat's Eats! Are you hungry?"

Beat gave Mari a confused look as she mentioned ulterior motives before giving her a reassuring smile, "Don't worry, you're not the kind of orange player I'm after, I promise."
I can't blame her for having second thoughts about that though. She doesn't know me that well I guess and I did almost swing on her today.
A spring entered his gait as she agreed to go with him to his home. This would be the first time that he had hosted company outside of his usual customers. A small bundle of tension began to well up in his gut, though he figured it was just the thought of a new guest in his home. As they reached the oversized doorway that marked the stairway and began to make their descent downwards toward floor 7, Beat responded, "Yeah Mari? What's u-" the knot of nerve suddenly quadrupled as Mari's fingers intertwined with his. He focused to successfully keep his breathing steady as his arm began to feel like it might go numb any minute.
You're supposed to be the rock, go with your gut, it'll be fine.Beat's hand, which had hesitated, suddenly began listening to him again and he squeezed her hand back as they carefully resumed making their way down the increasingly dark stairway, "Everyone needs a rock they can lean against. I don't know that anyone has ever gotten that from me, but I think I'm glad that I can be there for you." He hesitated again, focusing on the heat between their palms. Words came spilling out of his mouth again and the sound of their footsteps echoed through the cavern, "I like spending time with you Mari, but not the same way I enjoy Shield's company...not less...It's hard to explain, but it just feels right."

"Okay, one more lens. Those glasses have to break when he dies right?" He said out loud, studying the now cracked frames of the glasses he had targeted from the beginning of the fight. Something about taking Sebastian down a peg on top of defeating him mattered, but it certainly added a vein of fun to the fight, something that it needed given the certainty of the outcome.
He held his spear out and began to fill it with energy as he approached. Sebastian seemed to take notice and slowly took a few steps back, seeming to know what was coming and understand. Beat smiled as he leaped towards his target as he had already done twice before, "Could have just taken off the shades bro!" He shouted before his strongest sword art tore through the glasses, shattering them and the rest of Sebastian's face as he crumbled into pixels. Once the dust settled, a large, chocolate egg rested on the ground. Beat's eyes grew wide and he lifted it, knowing the potential that rested inside, "SHIELD! RARE DROP! EVAL! HOLY CRAP!" he shouted, bouncing up and down with the egg in his hands and beaming at his partner.

Beat watched as the group managed to free both remaining soldiers before Hel managed to finish healing herself. As he had said to Freyd before, it really was nice to coordinate with a good group of players. It made him optimistic for the approaching floor boss fight and a wave of relief came over him as he began to charge his first real attack, his charge skill spiking a red aura around him.
Hopefully it won't be a repeat of the elven council fight...
Beat shivered at his recollection of the boss fight that drove him away from the frontlines as he charged forward, covering the distance in an instant before his form seemed to multiply, each strike unique and impossibly fast thanks to the charge skill and the nature of the sword art. As his last blow struck its target, Beat glanced up at her health bar, noticing how little damage was taken away. He smirked with confidence as he prepared to strike again.

Beat would have whacked himself on the head if he was alone for forgetting. He had gotten so caught in recent events and Mari was so unlike any orange player he had ever met, that the idea that she was still banned from settlements was an almost ridiculous notion to him. "Right. I'm really not sure how I forgot." He said with a chuckle, scratching the back of his head. A sense of unease at his social blunder ran through him briefly, a sensation he rarely felt as he was accustomed to just being a little more than most people could readily deal with.
Get your shit together Beat...As she mentioned returning home, he shook his hand and laughed, "My place will be fine! It's not in the settlement, so you won't have to worry." He gestured towards the stairs she had mentioned with a smile, "Plus, my restaurant is part of my home, so I can make us something good to eat!"

Soldier 3: 40/40Beat looked at Freyd and grinned with a nod as he moved to another chain, beginning to untangle to metallic rings from one another. Normally when he quested, it was only him and Shield, which meant that the compliments he received were normally limited to 'nice job' and 'well done', but nothing specific like the one he had just received. It was validating to hear the compliment coming from a fellow damage dealer.
I guess it isn't the first, Baldur isn't withholding compliments after all...
Beat continued to work on the icy cold chains that bound the soldier, who seemed to be coming to his senses more as more chains were removed. He glanced to Freyd and decided to return the compliment, "Thanks, you're not so bad yourself. It's good to run with a group that can coordinate without too much effort." He removed a final chain from the soldier, only to realized that there were a couple of more wrapped around the man's legs.

Soldier 3: 40/40Beat eyed Hel's health bar and went through his options for a moment. With damage being relatively moot until the soldiers were released, she simply needed to be stunned so that she wouldn't be able to protect her captive soldiers. The thought of swapping to his stun weapon occurred to him, but with her health where it was at and his estimate of her mitigation, he figured damage would force her past half and effectively stun her by forcing her to heal.
Simple enough and if we're lucky, we can get both of them in one attempt.
"Alright guys, get ready to make for those soldiers! I'm pushing her past fifty percent!" He shouted, before running forward and peppering the goddess of Hel with a flurry of strikes, his form moving in a blur between each blow. As his sword art dissipated, he immediately charged towards the soldiers, knowing that Hel would now be forced to heal.

He leaped away from the creature that burst through the floor and eyed each creature as he reflexively charged his spear. Realizing he was on the back foot, Beat dug his foot into the tile and kicked forward, his red charge skill propelling him forward.
"If you're so eager, let's see what you've got!"
With and twist in the air, Beat unleashed his pale yellow sword art, the ring of energy flying out at blistering speed, knocking two of the spider-like creatures down and catching the third gatekeeper in the midsection and driving it into the Guardian, both creatures suffering the full effects of his weapon. Beat grinned at the two off color health bars that were slowly draining, "Nice! That should shorten this fight considerably."

Victory was practically a certainty, so the goal of breaking the shades sitting on the rabbit's face was currently his focus. "You know," He started, wagging his finger at the large bunny, "those are some pretty sturdy glasses, but they can only take so much. Just a matter of time."
The young damage dealer ran forward again, and as before, he leaped up to face level with his target and charged his spear, "Don't wear those inside! Let the light in!" He shouted before his form luminesced and strike began to rain down on the face of the creature. The cracks he had made in the lens with his previous attack began to widen until finally, the dark lens of the glasses shattered, leaving one last lens to crack and shatter. Beat grinned widely as he landed, pumping his fist as he looked up at the rabbit, "One down! One to go!"

As they were drawn into the whirlpool, Beat's consciousness faded as a soft female voice echoed in his head.
I'm proud of you...
In what felt like only a moment, Beat snapped back into reality covered in a cold sweat and a half rotten women in front of him. He returned her sneer as he dismissed the mysterious voice he had heard as Hel's. He prepared to charge as Freyd managed to provide a good distraction with a stunning sword art, changing Beat's plans entirely."Nice job! I'll start freeing the soldiers!" He shouted as he quickly made his way to the four NPCs who appeared to be town guards. They had large glowing chains binding them to Hel's throne and Beat began pulling these chains off of one of the soldiers, finding reasonable success. "Don't worry, we'll get you free!" He said to the man, despite knowing this was almost certainly an NPC.

His spear shimmered as he considered Shield's reply, "hmm, so lots of teeth, mouths and legs. This game was weird, but creative I guess."
"Alright boys," He started with a grin while reeling his now fully charged spear back, "It's been fun, but I have a guardian gatekeepers guy to kill...I guess..." He unleashed his attack in a nearly instantaneous full turn, the pale yellow wave expanding and catching each of the horrors in the midsection and passing through them. A couple of them staggered forward momentarily before falling in twain just before shattering, but two of them were obliterated upon contact with the wave, shattering into pixels as it travelled.

Beat cackled as she mentioned Shield. They had gotten married to enjoy the obvious benefits that the wedding rings offered, but never had Beat considered what other players thought about their arrangement. He supposed there had to be people who thought they had a friendship beyond comradery. Beat flashed his wedding ring and pulled up the info menu on it so Mari could see, "Plus one damage and all I have to do is be married? Easy choice."
"You could have...would have died because of me."
Beat's eyes softened as his smile remained, though he felt some effort was required as his own voice rang out in his head, his gaze focused on her eyes as her hand brushed his unmanaged bangs from his eyes.
So what if I die?
"I guess I just wasn't thinking in the moment." He started, chuckling as he made way to his front door, "I follow my gut for most things. I suppose it might get me killed some day if today is any example." Beat tried to live in the moment as much as possible, but the feelings of dread that normally accompanied introspection seemed to be absent for now. He placed his hand on the knob of his front door and looked back at her, "But at least if I had died, it would have been noble. That's pretty good right?"
Beat cleared his throat as he quickly opened his front door and gestured for Mari to follow. Even Shield had never seen the inside of his home, though this fact escaped Beat for the moment. He took his shoes off and stepped further inside, "I don't think anyone has ever seen my house haha!" He said, now wondering what she would think about his design choices. The interior was very modern Japanese and from where they were, she would see part of a large living space with vaulted ceilings.
