  1. Frostbite lake. Despite the, almost intimidating name, Katherine, or, Eatos, wouldn’t deny it was stunningly beautiful. The girl never left the first floor, and for a good reason, she was low levelled and at risk of monsters. But, when she heard about a lake the shimmered in the winter weather, she hoped it was worth the risk. And now, before her eyes, it had been. The girl sat on the grass watching out over the slowly rippling water, she allowed her mind to roam. She loved places like this lake, she was alone it was peaceful. What more could a person ask for?

‘Well, not to be trapped in a death game for starters’ she reminded herself ‘Then again, if I wasn’t, I couldn’t see this lake’. It wasn’t like her life back home, but, it was a start. The lake, the view and the beautiful coldish weather had made the girl nearly fall in love with the 4th floor, even if her combat level suggested she stay on the first for many levels to come. She knew, if she become stronger, she’d love to stay on this floor. When she became stronger. She knew she’d level up slowly with how she was doing it, slow, tedious almost, but she do it. She didn’t have many people to do it with. She’d made two, three, friends, but, she knew that friends weren’t always reliable when you’re doing quests below your station. She pondered her options as she sat at the late, admiring its innate beauty.

Of course, she hadn’t heard about the rumoured monster on the 4th floor. If she had, she’d never of come that night. So she sat there, at the side of the lake, and hummed to herself as she enjoyed the scenery around her.

  2. She was, at first, taken aback. Despite that fact she asked, she had expected both of them to decline her. She wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth, after all, they were even offering to help her mine! Her original worry was of monsters near the mining zone, which was a little bit out of town. But, with three of them, that fear had died. After all, what monsters would hang around in the low level mining area?

Of course, there were two obvious benefits for Stryder and Mist offering to help her mine, it would be quicker and they'd be easier to defend themselves from an attack. Of course, a slight worry she had was experience gaining. If she let others get the minerals for her, would she gain mining exp? She wasn't sure, but hoped it wouldn't affect her too much. And even laughed watching Mist swing her pickaxe around. After her swing AT stryder, which brought some level of 'fear' into her, she realized she should be the one to 'lead' them. After all, she doubted they were coming with her because they were getting their own minerals. They were doing it out of kindness for her, so she didn't want to waste their time anymore than she already had. Following the prompt on her map, she started walking towards the...exit of the town.

"I-its this way guys. L-lets go!" She said, and almost as soon as she started walking, the humming came out. She paused for a few seconds at the edge of the town of beginners ,took a deep breath, and stepped over it, headed to the mine.

  3. The walk to where Naomi was waiting for them, in Eatos’ mind, was uneventful. The town of beginners was safe, and if the girl was completely honest with herself, boring. It wasn’t that she disliked the town, she enjoyed the safety it brought to her, but she never had been that good at paying attention to her surroundings. As the trio walked, she allowed her mind to roam. At first it fretted over the possibilities of what monsters they’d run into, before she allowed herself to dismiss the danger. There were 3 of them all doing a level 1 quest, surely it would be fine?  If she was trying to do this quest on her own, she might worry, but with three of them, she felt ssafe.

With the threat of death warded off, her roaming mind explored worlds while the girl started to hum, and after only a short time, shifting her humming into singing. She opted to singing the same line on repeat, her voice shifting in pitch each time.

“You, are the oceans, grey wave. Destined to seek, life beyond, the shore” her voice came out soothing, but each time she finished the line she shook her head as if unhappy with how it came out, before trying it again slightly different. She didn’t sing it loudly, just slightly louder than her humming. She was dragged out of her daydream, not by any volition of her own, but rather, Damiens voice. Her singing cut off immediately as she spotted an individual leaning against a wall and the quest marker leading to her. Was that, Naomi?

“Let us begin” she said in agreement, nodding over at the boys in the party.

  4.  Team? Eatos raised an eyebrow at the word, were they a team? In her eyes they were allies of circumstance, all acting selfishless to get what they wanted, and if someone came along to help they wouldn’t say no. But she, if she was honest with herself, wouldn’t call herself Stryder and Damien a team. Or at the very least, not in the traditional sense of the word. But she wouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth, if they wanted to help her, it was help she was more than happy to accept.

She began following Damien, who began the walk towards the NPC Naomi. Her mind went back to the quest, it had mentioned combat, although she couldn’t recall the number of enemies they’d be required to fight. She hoped it wasn’t much after all, and with three of them….Well, she just had to have faith that she’d be successful in keeping enemies off of her while attacking. She knew bits and pieces of target selection of monsters, although she would feel safer if she fully understood. The less opportunity to have monsters attacking her, the safer she’ll be.

  5. Eatos approached the Blacksmithing Vendor, a broad NPC male with a thick brown beard and eyes that shined at the girl. She walked up to the stand, but paused with uncertainty. Was a quest going to just pop up? Or did she have to converse with the NPC in order to begin her quest. After several moments of silence, it was the latter.

“Excuse me” she said softly “Is this where I can start becoming a Blacksmith?” she asked. Right as she said the word ‘Blacksmith’, the NPC spun all its attention onto her.

“Of course my dear, this is where all beginning Smiths start! Now then, are you prepared to join the line of Blacksmiths who pour their soul and heart into each piece they create? If so, then I’ll need to see you work” The Large NPC smiled as the Quest Box appeared in front of her and she read over it. The quest, seemed simple enough. Create an Iron Weapon, like what she had. It wouldn’t buff her damage, but it would at least get her on the right path. She wouldn’t have to rely on drops, items being rewarded by the killings of monsters. She pressed the blue circle, accepting the Quest.

“Excellent!” The NPC boomed “First thing you’ll need is this, a Pickaxe! Using this you can acquire Ores that’ll allow you to create your equipment. Mine several Iron Ores, then bring them back here to smelt them into a weapon!”

Eatos spotted the newly acquired item and took a deep breath. So she’d have to mine, if only a time. In her mind, she hoped that someday, she’d be able to get players who would mine for her, go onto the higher levels she wouldn’t want to, and trade ores for weapons, or even pay them. Col was always going to be important in her long game plan. But first, she needed Blacksmithing levels, and it all started with this quest. She had to, this is what she was now. A blacksmith. She started humming as she strode back over to Mist and Stryder, smiling at them both.

“I got the quest..f-for blacksmithing…I just need to mine some ores, make them into a blade and I can start” she informed them, smiling at Mist, a silent thanks for the girl getting her this far “…S-say, I know neither of you probably wanna…but would either of you mind coming with? The mining places would be out of town, a-and I’d rather not go on my own…” She knew it was sad, in a way, that she was that scared of leaving the town on her own, but it was. She’d never left it, found it safe because no monsters could ever touch her. But, outside of the walls, that’s what scared her.

  6. In a way she felt bad having the girl apologise to her, was she that bad at hiding how she felt? She had thought she had a stronger poker face, although, maybe with being in a ‘new body’, her poker face would need work. That’s when she finally noticed the new arrival of Stryder, another online name. She knew she’d have to get used to calling herself Eatos, but that filled the girl with a new worry, one she knew was childish yet she couldn’t chase away. What if Katherine died in here, and she, as Eatos, survived? Would she even be herself?

While that thought did invade her mind, it was prompted removed by Mist informing her she did know where she could start a job, or ‘Profession’. The girl perked up and followed Mist, smiling at the shorter girl.

“Thank you thank you so much Mist!” She said as she started to look around at the nearby NPCS. She quickly spotted one that caught her eye, after all, she enjoyed cooking in the real world, why not learn here? Although there were two factors that stopped her. The first being a realization that, while cooking could be enjoyable, the system of SAO might oversimply it, and more importantly, it was a less than demanded skill. The stall nearby that caught her eyes however, she liked the look of. Smithing. In a game of combat, she quickly realized there would always be a demand for weapons and armour. That’s where she would earn her income, that would be her start.

“Blacksmithing….” She muttered out loud as her mind calculated the likelihood of people purchasing armour and weapons, High, which would then allow her income and, with that, Money, or Col. “I wonder if I’ll have to gather ores or something…” she allowed her thoughts to escape as she slowly wandered towards the stand, her mind trying to calculate possible incomes and, during its calculations, ‘forgetting’ the existence of Mist and Stryder.

  7. Katherine was slightly taken aback by the girl, even if she had informed her about the use of Professions. She hadn’t meant to come off as rude, although, she had sorta assumed the smaller girl was, well, younger. She hadn’t meant to be rude, although, the more she thought about it, the more it could have come off in that manner.

“I-I’m Eatos…” she introduced herself after Mist, realizing it was common to refer to yourself with your online alies, not your real name. Despite the boy, who had tried to attack a wall, walking over, the girls mind skipped over him. She didn’t mean to, it just dipped and dived and he failed to make the cut, therefore Eatos’ attention was enthralled upon Mist. “T-these professions, you said theres a quest start right…? I’m sorry to be such a pain, but are you able to point me towards one? I’ve got no idea where anything is in this town…”

She wasn’t proud of it, but despite all her time in the town, she was lost in the town. The time being overrun by fear and worry, and her daydreaming wanders, had failed to give her any proper sense of direction in the town of beginners. She just hoped others were less dreamy and actually paid attention to their surroundings.

  8. Katherine had to agree with Damiens point. Money, or Col is Sword Art called it, was critical. She knew that all too well from real life, so that was, without a doubt important. Along with experience points and skill points. She drew her Rapier and looked at the blade, smiling slightly. While it was true that the first skill points she used was on the Rank 1 Battle Healing, which would make her harder to kill, it also meant she didn’t have any offensive abilities to speak of. Although, with 3 of them in the group, she was less worried. Between the 3 of them, they’d have enough damage to stack onto a single target, and assuming they weren’t completely overrun by enemies, she felt, confident.

Hearing Damien point out the location of the location of the mansions, and with it, the NPC they were sworn to protect, she looked. It wasn’t a direct route, but how hard could it be to find? She realized, after asking herself the question, that she shouldn’t be the one to answer it. After all, each time she started walking her mind began to wander…

“Very well, should we get going…?”

  9. Katherine wouldn’t lie to herself, she was actually excited when they both seemed to agree with her about grouping up. The main reason was simply she didn’t feel confident doing the mission by herself and not getting killed, and she promised herself that she’d survive no matter what. With two others, surely they could help her fight right? The combat system didn’t seem too complicated, but she’d rather not find out it was and die because of it.

As her mind wandered to the combat system, she moved a hand onto her hip and traced over the blade that sat there. An Iron Rapier, a thrusting blade, a dueling blade. She smiled slightly, seemed her fascination in history wouldn’t ever die huh? Her idle mind was forced back into reality when a party invite appeared, offered by the name of ‘Stryder’. This caused her to frown, that name…was familiar, yet she couldn’t place it why. Blaming it on her imagination acting up once again, she pressed the circular blue button and checked out the other person. ‘Damien? I’m sorta jealous, he has his real name almost…’.

Once again she allowed her mind to roam, until Damiens voice awoke her, causing the girl to shake her head slightly. He was mentioning a map, and it took her several moments to realize she hadn’t acception the escort quest! She quickly brought it up and accepted it, and just like Damien said, a map appeared pointing, closeby?

    “Y-yes. I see it. It’s nearby I think…” she said softly.

  10. Eatos looked back and forth between the two males that had arrived. The new arrival had asked if they were going for the quest, but there was no ‘they’ between them in her eyes. Although, as she allowed her mind to think, the more it seemed beneficial. 3 of them, even low levels, doing a quest designed for a level 1, would made the quest more than safe. Her odds in her favor to survive was something she liked, before she eventually nodded her head at both the boy who was here before her, as well as the new arrival.

“I was looking at it also” she said softly, smiling at them “I-if I may, perhaps the three of us could embark on it together?” She suggested. She wasn’t certain about splitting, that being, if they would get less rewards, or the enemies would be tougher, given 3 of them were doing the same quest together. But even if they got less from it, it was a start. While not an expert in this style of games, even she knew that at a lower level, you didn’t need my experience to be able to level up. And these type of small quests were a perfect place to start!

  11. Eatos looked over at the shorter girl, and at first, her eyes were drawn to her weapon. A large spear, which was almost comical on the shorter girl, but, each to their own. If she felt more comfortable with that weapon, there was no reason for her to comment otherwise. Of course, listening to the girl opened up a whole new kettle of fish. She seemed, dazed, was the word Katherine selected. Lost, confused. While she sounded sweet, she also sounded lost. That wouldn’t do. Eatos smiled widely, and opened her mouth to say ‘Its ok, how about we try and remember?’, when she heard someone say ‘Stupid Wall’. Unable to stop herself, she looked over.

She spotted him a good few metres away, a male who was obviously frustrated, although she doubted it was the walls fault. After all, she’d nearly walked into one barely a minute ago.

She turned her attention back to the girl in front of her. It was unlikely this girl knew about where to gain money, but it was worth a shot? Maybe that’s what the girl was going to ask her?

“Well, I’m sure it’ll come back to you” she said, trying to make a big-sister tone although she doubted she was any good at it “I’m actually curious, do you know how to like…earn money in this game?”

Katherine Zekk, or in Sword Art Onlie, Eatos, wandered around the town of beginnings all the while humming to herself. It was the tune she'd always hummed to herself, and slowly her mind began to wander around and about, her body walking on auto-pilot. That was, until the girl nearly ran into another player and she shook her head several times, turning her amber eyes onto him. The fact alone she'd nearly run into him was embarrassing, after all, the town wasn't overall that busy, meaning she shouldn't be able to run into them.

"I'm sorry, I didn't look where I was talking" she said to him, apologizing for her absent-mindedness before turning to face the board. She'd heard of it, where you got quests and leveled up. Katherine knew she wasn't capable like the people who fought on the front, who were clearing the game. But she felt useless, sitting, trapped almost, on the first floor. Even if she wouldn't be fighting the bosses, being able to level up and help in another way, was her aim. That's when she spotted it, the 'Escorting Nobility' quest. A simple escort that was recommended for level 1's? The box popped up in front of her, but she hesitated. An escort would be fine, except it required her to fight....And she didn't feel confident in not dying.

    Welcome aboard.

  14. She continued her walking through the marketplace, humming a soft tune to herself and completely oblivious to the trialing player she'd managed to pick up on her walking route. This continued through the market where Eatos didn't look at the shops around her, her amber eyes staring up into the sky as her body walked on auto-pilot, her mind with away with the fairies.

This daydreaming was cut short, as was her humming, when she nearly walked into a wall. The girl shook her head, frustrated at herself for being so whimsical sometimes. She needed to get her new life in order, not play around with the fairies in her mind. She looked around, eyeing the circular spawning room. Her eyes moved across the rooftops, and the ironcy set in for her. This place could have been beautiful had it not been plagued by death. As she looked around, she finally spotted the player who had been following her.

She looked down, if only slightly, at the new girl. 'Has she been...trialing me? Why' was the first thought that crossed her mind.

"Hello, I-is there something you need...?" She was rather perplexed but the revelation that she had been followed, but the girl looked harmless enough. Enough for her not to even rest a hand on the Rapier blade that sat on her hip, after all, she was in the town on beginners and trapped in a death game. Shouldn't people help each other out?

  15. Midi.png

Katherine Zekk thought that she'd be entering a fun new world where she could live out a fantasy. The reality was far from pleasant. She'd been dropped into a game of death and murder, where any wrong move could result in death. She hadn't taken it well at first, refusing to believe the reality of what she was facing. However, slowly, the truth dawned on her and she had no choice but to accept it. She was trapped here until the game was finished.

"Very well, I don't have a choice" she muttered to herself as she dragged herself out, and back into the town of beginners. She returned to the first place she knew, the large circular center. She allowed herself to take a deep breath, and closed her eyes. She needed to think. She needed...income. To generate income was the first step in establishing herself. Although the next question was how, and one Katherine, better known as 'Eatos', couldnt' answer. So she walked around the town, planning on hunting for that answer.

However, the girls hunt died as soon as it begun. She was walking past each stall, humming to herself, and her mind wandered away. The daydreaming 20 year old collage student walked the streets of the town of beginners, not watching where she stepped.

    About: History/personality

Katherine ‘Clary’ Zekk was born and raised in England in one of the suburbs close to the capital, London. Her family was well educated, wealthy and, most importantly, busy. Both her parents worked full time jobs in the city so it fell to her elder brother to help her grow up. She always got along with her brother, and despite his annoyance at the parents absence, she couldn’t be. She understood they were busy, that their wealth wasn’t given to them, but worked for. Growing up it was something that always proved influence over Katherine, she, much liked her parents, valued money.

She got herself a job during high school, working to make her own money. She loved it, not the job, but the payments. The freedom to purchase whatever it was she wanted without fear of money. She quickly ventured down the road of books, created her own mini library where she’d spend days cooped up slaving over the pages of her beloved books, the novels where anything, and everything, could happen. It was during this time she found her 2nd love, history. She pushed herself to learn what she could about human history, and most specifically, conflict. For a reason she couldn’t explain, she found war fascinating and heavily studied the wars of the past.

After graduating high school, she took the same path her brother did. She packed up her things and moved out of home, becoming a lodger at her local collage as she began her degree in history. It was here she met her roommates, who introduced her into gaming. While Katherine was often in last place during party nights, she found games fun and starting splitting her income between food, books and games. When she heard from her friends that a virtual reality game was being released, she couldn’t not pre-order the game. She knew she wouldn’t be that good, but she played for fun. She couldn’t wait to plug into another reality. If only she’d known she couldn’t escape.

However, the girls part is far from pleasant. From the age of 16 to 18, the girl was being constantly drugged by a friend, who become her boyfriend. Adam Tautin, a convicted Serial killer. He used the girl as a weapon, an alibi. The girls calmness, mixed with medication he was slipping into her food, made her capable of 'fooling' a lie detector. However, for him, it wasn't enough. Soon, he had her at the murders, making her watch for his gradification. Then, he used her as a lure, pulling his victims into his grip. Finally, using a knife, got Katherine to claim lives of her own. After two years, he was finally arrested. During the case, Katherines testimony was the sealing deal behind why he was convicted with a life sentence without parole.

However, while drugged, Katherines mind was far from calm. During the time, the girl had killed 32 people, a fact that was 'missed' by the lawyers, partly because they needed her to have a strong testimony, and many doctors made it clear: The drugs in her system made her extremely compliant, meaning she was not accountable for her actions, even if she doesn't believe it.

    Virtues:

Understanding/Empathy: Katherine prides herself on trying to take in both sides of an argument. Whenever someone does something many consider to be ‘selfish’ or ‘rude’, she’ll try to understand why they did it. Much like how she realized how much her parents cared for her, she knew that no one is mean by nature, but by circumstance.

Calculated: Katherine has learnt much from her parents, one key thing was assessing risks against rewards. Before embarking, she’ll often try and pre-calculate the possible gains against the risks. By doing this, she’ll avoid wasting needless effort and concentration. The more efficient, the better.

Forgiving: Katherine’s empathy, her ability to try to understand why, to try and place herself in another position, causes her to be quick to forgive once a mistake has been made. She tries to never hold a grudge, and will forgive the same person several times if she believes they aren’t intentionally screwing with her. Her forgiveness, while vast, is easily cut if she believes the person is trying to take advantage of her.

    Flaws:

Hoarder: While Katherine does indeed deal with money very well, she is less adapt with what she purchases. She dislikes throwing away anything that can be ‘useful later’, even if it is damaged or seemingly useless.

Cold-Hearted: The business life is cut-throat and Katherine knows she had to be cruel. She’ll at times find herself being particular harsh in order to get what she wants, disregarding what the other individual may want or their side of the argument. She will do this for a personal gain, as she values money and its importance on her freedom. If that means she rips off someone to do it, so be it.

Indulgent: Katherine has grown up never having to suffer any form of financial hardship, and has spent the majority of her life being able to purchase whatever it is she wants. She’ll toss money around with little regard, if she wants it, she’ll get it. Clothes, foods, books, never has she been denied them.

    Neutral:

Daydreamer: Despite being 20 and attention a collage, Katherines often allows her imagination to run wild. This mostly occurs when she is in a library, but can occur when she is lacking something to do. Often times she’ll daydream about one of her books, or a story within history, something to allow her mind the freedom to roam.

Nice, and yeah I helped when I could! ^^

If you ever need any aid feel free to message me or another member of the site. I am sure they'd be happy to help. :3

I think i've mostly got my head around it? It's nice to find a system that is properly structured and set-out, despite the huge information i spent most of today learning, it's a really nice shift. But if i need help i'll be sure to ask :)

    Welcome to the site! ^^

You're the one styrder mentioned was helping him no? He's been throwing me links and such which have been super helpful in getting my head around the huge differences in this site and my old one.

  19. Not a fan of doing intro posts to new sites, but figured why not.

Hi, I got by the online alias Eatos. I've been doing rp stuff since late 2012, found this sight recently and, since I enjoyed sao, figured i'd give it a shot. Ive got a friend who just joined recently, but outside that i'm not too sure how this sight operates compared to previous places. Umm, i'm a writer of sorts and yeah. Not sure what else to say, never been a fan of writing these so i'll just leave it here.
