In the heart of the woods, where the sunlight couldn't permeated the canopy, darkness reigned. A dense layer of fog hung over the damp foliage, the scent of wet leaves thick and rotten. The air also held a strange chill, far cooler than one might expect, even in the shadows. Silence, as heavy as the fog, hovered in the forest. No birds chirped, no squirrels chittered, and no rustle of underbrush betrayed the location of other woodland creatures. For a Floor with such warmth and beauty, this transition into eerie cold was unmistakable. Something lurked here, and whatever it was, it wasn't wholly natural.

A sharp snort echoed like a gunblast.

    Overview

    • The Labyrinth Guardian battle will begin when all four players have posted an introductory post, including their stats/equipment.
    • The scouting party may contact outside help, and swap out for a different Player.
    • Once all four participants have posted, the boss stats will be edited into this post, and the fight will begin.
    • Players will control the boss.
      • It will have its own rolls, but does not necessarily need its own posts.
      • Questions concerning the boss (stats, abilities, etc.) should be directed to staff.
    • Stats from the scouting thread (buffs, equipment swaps, etc.) may be carried over to this thread.
      • Equipment changes can still be made, and consumables taken, during the introductory round as well.
    • Once the boss has been beaten, another post will be made to end the fight and give the victorious party any pertinent details.

    Owij’be The Indomitable
    HP: 4000/4000 | DMG: 200 | MIT: 125 | ACC: 2 | Battle Healing: 220

Bloodied but Unbowed: For each source of damage dealt to Owij’be (Including DoT Effects), its mitigation is increased by 25. This fades at the start of Owij’be’s turn.

Unstoppable Force [AoE]: Every 3 turns, Owij’be will begin to rush through the arena. The blistering winds of The Cave will follow in its wake. Owij’be gains +2 accuracy and makes an attack against all targets, Dealing 300 damage on a success and inflicting [Bitter Chill] unless the target has [Antifreeze].

Titanic Bulwark [Equip]: Every 5th turn, Owij’be will gather nearby trees into its antlers and brandish them as a weapon. For as long as Owij’be has a branch in its antlers, it gains +50 Base Damage, +1 Accuracy on all of its attacks. This debris can be attacked like a normal creature to end this effect.

    • Titanic Bulwark | HP: 500/500

[Bitter Chill]: Target loses -2 evasion until removed, any further refreshes of this effect instead deal 100 unmitigated damage to the target. Purify will remove this debuff.

Demolish [AoE]: At any point a Titanic Bulwark loses more than half of its HP and is not destroyed or 4 turns have passed since its creation, Owij’be will use Demolish. This attack is an autohit dealing 300 unmitigated damage on all targets and inflicts [Bitter Chill].

Burned Hide | Owij’be loses -55 of its battle healing while burned.
Immovable Object | If Owji’be strikes a target who is under the effects of Rampart, it concusses itself and cannot act the following turn.
Dizzied | Delay pushes all of its turn based effects back a single turn.
Shocking | Stun (Familiar/Player) & Paralyze do not disable the boss, but instead remove/negate a single stack of Bloodied but Unbowed.
Frost Resistant | Cold Effects (Freeze & Frostbite) will not disable the boss, but will reduce its damage by 25 until the start of its next turn.

  3. In the moment, Hugh looked a bit like a spooked horse. His nostrils flared, and his eyes rolled wildly, unable to settle on any one thing for too long. As the accusations landed like blows from a fist, he soundlessly opened and closed his mouth. Finally, when there came a lull in the questioning, he inserted himself back in.

"Destin had no place here," the man snapped, jabbing a finger in the bearded NPC's direction. "That's why he was invited. Nothing happened in Ronbaru, so he had nothing to contribute. All he'd do is blow smoke. He's old, and half the time, no one knows what he's talking about." Destin's only response was to lift his bushy eyebrows, amusement, rather than insult, in his expression.

Next, he rounded on Kagami. "Brienne doesn't need an entire summit just to show her incompetence. She does it every damn day." Hugh's eyes drilled into the dark-haired woman, the venom in his words matched by the poison in his gaze. "Her entire tenure has been a farce, a parade of mistakes and bad choices. She ran her entire campaign on empty promises. Unity? Equality?" The former President seethed. "It could never happen. And why would we want it to? Why would we want that? The people of Ordsea do not need to concern themselves with the other territories. Did the Kings of old concern themselves with the pigs in their sties? The peasants? The brutes?" He glanced at Tiberius, Percival, and Fudral in turn. "Of course they didn't. And Ronbaru." His lips curled into a humorless sneer. "Dagan over there was right about you. Just a bunch of hippies."

Dagan surged to his feet, but Destin held up a hand to stop him. It seemed that he was more than happy to let the production play out. "We've given him enough rope," the scholar whispered, slanting a knowing glance toward Raidou.

Now watch as the man hangs himself.

"There was nothing coincidental about the cave in," Hugh informed Kagami. "I thought those idiot bandits had botched it up, needlessly shattering the crystals the way they did after I asked them to stage it like an accident. Apparently they weren't the idiots." He barked out a laugh. "I arranged the collapse, because it was just like that bumbling baboon to get angry and withhold his food supplies. It doesn't take much to upset a moron, does it?"

Tiberius snarled, hands clenching into fists, but respected Destin's wish to remain still.

"Burning the medicine was a precaution, to ensure Srona got involved. Watching everyone convince that alchemist he was being paranoid was just a nice bonus. And Fudral?" Now Hugh turned a wolfish grin on the Commander. "How does it feel, having your own men turn on you? Like you failed? Like you're incapable?"

The man held his arms wide, addressing the entire stage. "You're all incapable! You all failed! You would have without my intervention - I only sped up the process. There is no united world, and there will never be. The strongest territory will rise to the top, and as I've clearly demonstrated, it will be Ordsea, with me at the helm."

Finally, he turned to face Raidou. Arms still splayed, the doomed politician boomed, "Those soldiers will not arrest me! They don't take orders from you."

"But they take orders from me."

Brienne stood, surrounded by the other four representatives. Together, they formed a unit. "Guards, apprehend this man, and take him to the Ronbaru jail." She glanced toward Destin, who offered a small smile. Then she continued, "We'll all be involved in his trial, as he wronged each of us." Tiberius, Percival, and Fudral nodded, turning from Brienne to the sputtering, thrashing Hugh.

The leaders watched, a united front, as the thing that threatened their peace was locked away.

Just as their forefathers had done hundreds of years before.

  4. Epilogue

All around the cavern, the crystals gleamed. Blue, green, white, red, and yellow, a kaleidoscope of color. Only now, the hues seemed softer. Rather than clashing against each other, a violent battle for attention, they blended into a harmonious blanket of color. In the center of space, a scroll lay amid the still settling dust. As the first curious Player approached it, a feminine voice suddenly filled the air.

“If you’re reading this, then Wushen has been freed. I suppose it is too much to hope that you’ve succeeded in ending its life, as we were barely able to contain it. I also fear that I’m unable to ask such a feat from you, as I contributed to Wushen’s creation. We all did. As we gave in to greed, envy, and wrath, we allowed hatred to threaten our once peaceful existence. The negativity began to corrupt the Elementals that roamed the land. Just as humanity teetered on the edge of war, the Elementals joined together to form an enemy unlike any we had ever seen - Wushen, the Elemental Warlord.

Presented with this shared enemy, the leaders of the now-fractured civilization met to discuss our options. In doing so, we found ourselves also airing our personal grievances, and coming to understandings that we hadn’t been able to before. We began to mend broken relationships, and almost immediately, noticed Wushen’s strength weakening. Armed with this knowledge, we hastened our diplomatic efforts until the Warlord was small enough to trap. Using elemental magic uncovered within ancient texts, we created a golem to keep Wushen contained. To protect the people from its devastation.

This world is not perfect. The Elementals remain more hostile than they once were. Wushen, though imprisoned, remains a threat. Our people are still divided - all the compromising in the world could not unite us completely - but we’ve done our best to work together. The words of power, meant to unlock Wushen’s cage, were split among the leaders of our newly formed territories. Though we are separated, each will specialize in one area, allowing our cooperation to continue. We will work together to protect our people, from Wushen, from themselves, and from the possibility of history repeating itself.

I pray that we’ve succeeded, and that in doing so, allowed a future generation to finally bring about Wushen’s end.

    Humbly yours,
    Kielle, First President of Ordsea"

Sprays of color ebbed and flowed like streams of river, like cries of a watchful mountain. Like candle light and that of the stars. Despite troubled breath and burning lungs. Desire pressed on.

    Hope pressed on.

The same troubling peel of voices extrude the chamber in a reverberating spiel. The vary meeting of a roundtable having conquered its deep seeded corruption. A select few phrases echoed on past the myraid that seemed more focused.

    "a house divided cannot stand"

"What mistake have you made, Hugh?"
"Mr. Hugh, I would like to ask a question. What can you say to all of this?"
    "At some point, Hugh..."

A battle raged on two fronts, one of words and the other of blades. Wushen stirred, as its maw grew bright with a cyan blue permafrost. Determined to see this through, determined for its barrier. To protect it. Its strength falters and like a dying star, that light fades. What is left is an army of gnats, to which he believed beneath him wielding weapons of war.

They all closed upon him, mustering the last of their remaining strength to see this ended. Cuts and tears, that left their marks upon his scaled hide. As that bar drew closer and closer to its end. Eventually, it could not hold itself and like a mountain it fell. Each and every player would rush away from the beast or be crushed underneath its weight, as a living skyscraper fell from the heavens.

Ground shook, and tore asunder. Pieces of it broke up and upheaved in an uneven cacophony of fissures. When the dust finally clears, a crawled creeping of a illuminant starlike shine.

    *Pop*

And just as quickly it began. Wushen was gone.

To have come so far, yet feel as if they had gained nothing was the essence of futility. Wushen loomed overhead, immenent, impending in its quest to return All to Nothing. Those who fought against fate did so for naught, and would soon join the baleful chorus of those who had given in. This sudden wave of defiance… mattered little.
The Elemental Warlord balked at their best efforts, now fully intent on bringing its wrath to bear… though, perhaps with less fervor than before. To feel the freedom that came with the disunity of the people and be so close to victory and have it suddenly taken away was gutting, even for a force of nature.

Wushen's roar did not come again. Instead, it was replaced with a heavy sigh. It was the feeling of exhaustion, of depression, of angst that came when everything that was going so well suddenly started not to.

It was a feeling that the beast was all too eager to impart on these creatures, that it wished to share with them, and even afflict. Perhaps if they tasted futility again, it would motivate them to die.

Wushen offered to them the most bitter of fruits.

    Despair.

    Wushen, Elemental Warlord | HP: ????/???? | DMG: 200 | MITI: 15 75 | ACC: 4 | EVA: 0
    [Cannot be Targeted with Attacks]

    Petty:

    • Using [Delay] sword arts (Does not stack) will reduce the next BD 9-10 effect that a head will produce to BD:10 only, making a BD: 9 a normal attack.
    • In addition, a player using a Mass Healing Crystal without any hatred generation skills/enhancements gain +2 Hatred.
    • BD 9-10, Applies Keen 3 and Focus to Wushen, Brimstone, Caustic, Novalite, Serration, Overgrowth

    Beyond Care:

    • Each round at the start of the bosses turn before its post action, the highest hate from each group decays by -1. In the event of a draw then this ability targets the player that has any hatred generation skills/enhancements. If none is present it will be the last player to generate hatred outside of attacking.
    • In addition, every successful attack made against the player with the highest hate by Wushen directly reduces their hatred by -2

    Larger than Life:

    • DoT’s last half as long.
    • Wushen is immune to disables. However, when a Disable is applied, DoT effects applied in the same round will last their full duration. This also breaks Wushen's concealment on his HP Bars
    • Enhancement effects that match the element of a head are ineffective. Please see the head in question to see what enhancements it matches.

    Multi-Faceted:
During Phase 2, A number of different heads will cycle to each available party. One of the following heads will become targetable by a team: Brimstone, Caustic, Novalite, Serration, Overgrowth. If this head is felled, but any other remain standing it will become Flailing. These heads utilize Wushen's hatred values. The total HP of Wushen are shared with Heads, destroying one of the heads deals its full maximum to Wushen when felled.

    Cauterize:
After a head enters the Flailing state where it cannot be targeted except by healing effects, it remains at 0 HP. Using the First Aid skill or a healing item directly targeting (No Mass Heals/Field Medic target a specific creature) it will close off the wound and stop it from attacking temporarily. Using these effects on a Flailing head does not restore the bosses HP.

    Cordoned Room:
During Phase 2, The entire chamber will be closed off in sections using ice isolating the parties from interacting with heads not within their reach. This barrier can be conversed through but cannot be passed. Once a party's head (
Brimstone, Caustic, Novalite, Serration, Overgrowth) has been felled, players can as a post action begin to work to lower the barrier. Burning holes through the ice walls in some way by obtaining a combined LD total of 10 will melt them. Only LD bonuses from the following apply:

    • Nimble Addon
    • Searching Skill
    • Detect Addon
    • Reveal Addon
    • Scouting Familiar Skill

This action must be done to continue to attack the body by each party once the head has been destroyed.

    Total Destruction:

    • When all spawned heads are felled, the boss will attempt to regenerate them as a post action.
    • In addition, Cordoned Room will be re-activated

    Guidelines
    - Players will have until 11:59 PM EDT on SEPTEMBER 22nd to make their posts.

The eyes of the mighty Wushen darkened as lids scaly lids cascaded over them. The voices of the divided chaos, that fueled his power generation after generation, had ceased. Its neck twisted and writhed with excruciating pain as its scales tightened and compressed, causing the dragon’s size to decrease every so slightly. The focus points on its body, each one that represented a different element of the land, seemed to pulse at a slower rate. Even the elemental visages of Wushen himself that sprouted from either side flickered, the images almost seemed to try and hold themselves together and not give into becoming nothing but a dissolving mist.

This could not be happening. Not now, when he was so close to achieving his goal.

And it was the fault of this gathering of warriors that plagued this floor. HIS floor of the towering castle of Aincrad.

He would not stand for it, and he would not go down without a fight.

Releasing all of his pent of frustrations and rage, Wushen’s screeching roar caused the entire cavern to shake and rumble. Various crystal structures cracking and falling to the ground, the players just barely managing to avoid being hit by the splintering rain of colored crystals.

Using what power it had left, another wave of ice walls rose in place, though these much thinner.. their structure already showing signs of melting. And as three heads of the creature had fallen, another three rose in their place.

The ground beneath this section of the elemental warlord burn and sizzle, asCaustic.png vile green seeps from what were once Wushen's scales, now replaced with rough stone.  The air beside the physical form of the dragon, taken up by yet another ethereal head. Its scales craggy and broken, very similar to its physical counterpart. Sickly green eyes gather on this new grouping of insects - or 'players' as they call themselves - as acid begins to trickle from the corners of its mouth, like drool from a hound as it anticipates its next meal.

The dark scales on the side of Wushen's long neck now shimmer with a intense, incandescent orange glow. A palpable heat emanates from the dragon, enveloping the onlookers and transforming the atmosphere into an unbearable inferno, akin to standing at the very mouth of an active volcano. An awe-image.pnginspiring image, resembling Wushen's primary head, but fashioned entirely from a rolling, boiling sea of crimson energy looks down upon the players with fire in its eyes - both figuratively and literally. Smoke billows from the corners of its mouth, while a majestic mane of raging flame cascades down the length of its back. The entity Brimstone reveals itself to this new, pathetic batch of so-called warriors.

This sinister arboreal creature embodies an eerie and twisted fusion of woodOvergrowth.png and malevolence. Its monstrous form exudes an unsettling presence, with gnarled, jagged branches forming its scales, giving it a fearsome and foreboding appearance. Its contorted silhouette seems to whisper tales of ancient malevolence, foretelling ominous deeds to come.

The very presence of Overgrowth disrupts the harmony of the natural world, as it twists and corrupts the once life-giving force of wood into a sinister and destructive power, instilling fear and trepidation in all who dare to face its malefic gaze.

  16. The representatives listened in silence as Demian and Raidou lobbed them questions. Only once both had fallen silent did Percival lean forward.

“It’s a dangerous liquid, but it’s one that we use every day. It’s really impossible to get anything done without lantern-light, so everyone has access to it. We sell it in our shops, store it in our barns, use it in our homes.” He slanted a glare toward Raidou. “It’s lamp oil. Made from vegetable waste. It is flammable, yes, but this isn’t a toxic chemical. Most everyone has handled it at some point. One of the reasons I’m convinced this was arson is because the fire reeked of lantern oil. This wasn’t a single lantern knocked over, or even a jug sloshed accidentally. This was a deliberate act.” He frowned. “I believe the oil can be obtained in any territory. We all use it.” After the rest of the panel nodded, he concluded, “None of my people were able to describe the arsonists. They were too distracted by the fire, unfortunately.”

Percival glanced toward Tiberius, as if handing him the metaphorical baton. The farmer cleared his throat, then spoke gruffly. “Aye, in the mountains. It’s pretty big, but doesn’t go into other territories, s’far as I know. No casualties, but the crops were a loss, and my people took some hits.”

Fudral spoke next. “We’ve people in place to handle the money aspect. I spend most of my time in the field, doing the training, and working with the soldiers directly.” His expression hardened, jaw clenching beneath his thick beard. “It’s possible someone paid them off. I hadn’t considered it.”

As Kagami asked her question, Percival sat forward again. “It wasn’t much of a meeting,” the bespectacled man corrected. “I sent a message to the estate, explaining the situation, and asking for aid. None came.”

In response, President Brienne sighed. It was not the exasperated gesture of an annoyed woman, but the weary sound of a very tired, very stressed woman. Atlas might have all the glory for carrying the world on his shoulders, but in that moment, Brienne’s struggles seemed equally heavy. “And I’m incredibly sorry. The note arrived right around the same time that the bandits did, and in the chaos, it didn’t cross my desk until days later. We were focused on protecting important historical documents, fearing that the bandits might be after the journals of past presidents. That’s no excuse, but it’s all that I can offer you.” Her gaze met Raidou’s. “My party holds ideals that are… I guess you could say, radical, when compared to Ordsea’s past. The territory has tended to lean toward isolationism. Not necessarily building walls,” her gaze flicked toward Hugh, and she amended, “- though that was a part of his campaign platform - but more so just remaining removed from everyone else’s business. I never cared much for it, and I’ve always struggled to understand why we don’t cooperate. As I mentioned, it makes so much more sense for us to work together. Each territory specializes, which is fine, but should we not attempt to fill those gaps where we can?”

She reached up to scrub at her face, then raked her fingers through her riotous black curls. Kagami’s words were getting to her, that much was evident. The proud president was struggling to maintain her composure. “It’s been hard,” she finally admitted. "We won, but it was only a matter of a few dozen votes. President Hugh demanded two recounts, actually, and many still question whether the win was legitimate. I did want to go into politics, and see this dream of a united region become a reality. I just - well, to be honest, I never expected this much animosity. I truly thought that what I was doing was right, for everyone, not just Ordsea. And I do still think that cooperation is what’s best.” She breathed in deeply through her nose, then let the air slip past her lips. Twice. Three times. “I still believe people are inherently good. I have to believe that. But it has been so hard. The death threats, the protests, the constant questioning. It is enough to make me wonder if I’m cut out for the job. And if I’m wondering, I can’t fault anyone else for doubting me.” Her chin dipped momentarily, but she shoved it back up again, one final attempt at defiance. “I’ll continue doing my best, but if an election were held tomorrow, there is no doubt in my mind that President Hugh would be reelected.”

Relentlessly, these loathsome insects persisted, an enduring source of vexation that never ceased to trouble Wushen. They were an unyielding obstacle, a veritable plague that cried out for total annihilation from the very fabric of existence. In Wushen's grand design for utter mayhem and disarray, they were the solitary stumbling block, an obstinate band of warriors, adventurers, and misfits, defiantly standing in his path.

Wushen harbored an insatiable desire to obliterate them, to reduce their existence to nothing more than a gruesome tapestry of lifeless, mutilated remains strewn across the landscape. If only they would acquiesce to stillness, but alas, they persisted in their relentless pursuit of thwarting his malevolent ambitions, their ceaseless motion mocking his every nefarious intent.

The elemental visage of Overgrowth twitched and writhed as the small grouping of players prodded it with their weapons. The wood-like exterior that made up the scales and flesh of Overgrowth began to crack and splinter, a fog that chilled the warriors to the bone pouring out from the seams and cascading across the ground at their feet. Contrast to the raging fire that burned in its eyes, itching to unleash its power upon the lot of them.

Its eyes fell upon a single player, the heavily armored female that stood tall, despite facing Wushen’s wrath time and time again. Rearing back its head, it dove into the ground – its illusory form not disturbing the earth. Moments later, Overgrowth burst straight up from under Nari, like a twisted, mangled tree going through years of growth within an instant. It would not be felled like its predecessors – not without a fight.

    How dare they.

How dare they defy the might of Serration – of Wushen himself.

How dare they make a mockery of the elemental form of metal, who wanted nothing more than to cut through these pathetic fools like a hot knife through butter.

But their constant actions, their constant strategizing.. Serration could only look on, its metallic form creaking as it attempted to move, its razor sharp teeth chattering within its gaping maw, just meters away from closing down on any one of these players and ripping them to shreds.

The damage had already been done, by the time Serration found movement in its body once more. But they would not have seen the last of this form. No, they would yet face its fury.

Burning holes through the ice walls in some way by obtaining a combined LD total of 15 will melt them. Only LD bonuses from the following apply:

    • Nimble Addon
    • Searching Skill
    • Scouting Familiar Skill

This action must be done to continue to attack the body by each party once the head has been destroyed.

    Total Destruction:

    • When all spawned heads are felled, the boss will attempt to regenerate them as a post action.
    • In addition, Cordoned Room will be re-activated

A ball of fire began to gather within Brimstone’s mouth, gaining power by the moment. The air between these icy walls that trapped the small grouping of ants grew hot as the inferno grew. They would yet taste defeat by the hands of Brimstone..

Suddenly, the elemental wyrm’s movements became sluggish. The fire ball it had been charging up began to dissipate.

    No
    NO

The fire elemental found itself pinned in place, a temporary prison of the player’s making. Only able to watch as they continued to poke and prod at the ancient dragon. This only angered Brimstone, and in turn Wushen, even more. They would pay for their insolence with their lives.

  20. Wushen.png.e062d5bf203067e6506d60a456bff7f2.png

Pestilence. They were a pestilence. There was nothing more that they could be, nothing more that they deserved to be. They were here to torture it, until its final moments. Destroying what it was, what it controlled, what it saw over. Only a pestilence would do such a thing to the forces of nature. Only a pestilence could break down its forms in such a manner.

It would rid the world of this pestilence. It would tend to the natural order, return things to the ever flowing chaos that was and should be. The chaos that bred life, bred continuation, bred ending. It was that ending. It would not be ended by such…such disgusting things.

Wushen leaned back and roared, roared as the pestilence crept ever closer. Roared in anger, in fury, in torment. Roared in horror, in refusal, in despair. Roared, to bring fear upon that which appeared fearless. It would not fall here, not this time, not ever.

The final essence of Novalite fell in a glorious end. Its resistance has lasted longer than its brethren, giving hope to Wushen that it hadn’t known it could even feel. Hope, which shattered with the demise of its head, the loss of a piece of itself. It roared in pain; a pain that was born as much from the wounds that were opened on the outer layer of its body as those within it.

Wushen swore to itself then, there, that it would gain revenge. Revenge for the damage they had caused. Revenge for the torment that they placed upon it. Revenge…for their very existence. It was intolerable. Insufferable. It needed to end. Its eyes turned towards the things beneath it, the body readying as its tongue forked outwards, testing the air, looking for the opening it would need…

This sinister arboreal creature embodies an eerie and twisted fusion of wood and malevolence. Its monstrous formOvergrowth.png exudes an unsettling presence, with gnarled, jagged branches forming its scales, giving it a fearsome and foreboding appearance.

They came as if flies released from the sack that had housed them. Flittering, dipping beneath, biting at its scales. As much the pests as they appeared. They gnawed with their long claws, their teeth and beat with their limbs in ways that caused stings upon Wushen’s flesh. They were unbearable beneath its form, berating it without end.

Wushen felt the roiling within itself again, the desire to do nothing more than swat them all away. The desire to end their pitiful lives; lives wasted upon their attempts to overcome it. Lives which amounted to nothing in comparison to Wushen’s own. Lives that were beginning to give it a sense of danger…

image.pngA silvery liquid, reminiscent of the properties of mercury, oozes from the dark scales of Wushen, promptly adhering and solidifying to form an additional armored layer over the dragon's already formidable hide. The faint glow within the cavern reflects off its surface, revealing a lustrous, metallic sheen. In the blink of an eye, the liquid armor shapes into long, slender spikes, capable of piercing even the sturdiest of armors if anyone happened to stand too close.

A  ghostly, serpentine image of an imposing dragon head now appears beside its physical counterpart, covered in a gleaming armored layer. Its large mouth opens gradually, revealing a frightening array of razor-sharp teeth. With a savage and threatening demeanor, it lunges towards the players, unleashing its primal fury. The creature, aptly named Serration, bears its deadly presence, as indicated by the health bar hovering above it.

The wall was shattered and they came rushing forwards, their movement specks against the otherwise pristine floor of Wushen’s home. Their buzzing continued as they called to one another, ignorant of the danger they faced. Ignorant of Wushen’s power. Ignorant of the way in which they caused a feeling within it that it had not felt before.

Wushen hissed, a sound of escaping air that seemed to heat the area before it. It would not tolerate these things. It would not accept them. It would lash out, drive them back, send them into the end that awaited them. It would not surrender to…to these…

The dark scales on the side of Wushen's long neck start to shimmer with a warm, incandescent orange glow, gradually intensifying with each passing second. A palpable heat emanates from the dragon, enveloping the onlookers and transforming the atmosphere into an unbearable inferno, akin to standing at the very mouth of an active volcano. Suddenly, the dragon's hide erupts into a mesmerizing display of flames, coalescing into a frightful yet stunning ball of fire, trailing off above the group. As the blaze comes to rest, the flames gracefully take on the form of a serpentine figure, bearing two piercing eyes fixated on the unfortunate intruders who dared venture into Wushen's lair.

image.pngAs the flames begin to wane, an awe-inspiring image emerges, resembling Wushen's primary head, but fashioned entirely from a rolling, boiling sea of crimson energy. Smoke billows from the corners of its mouth, while a majestic mane of raging flame cascades down the length of its back. The entity now reveals itself as Brimstone, a fearsome manifestation of Wushen's power. Above its hovers another bar, glowing green and indicating the health level of Brimstone

  23. As Raidou dropped into another chair at the table, Destin’s already thin lips drew together. “Perhaps I didn’t make my earlier intentions clear enough,” he began tersely. “I will ask that you vacate the stage, and find a seat in the audience. This table is reserved for representatives, of which you are not one. If you are unable to do so, I’ll borrow one of Fudral’s burly men to help you.”

Tiberius scrubbed his calloused hands over his face, a gesture that betrayed his exhaustion, before he answered Raidou. “The cave-in happened last week. There wasn’t a ‘start,’ it just happened. We grow everywhere, but that spot had the best output of anywhere.”

Brienne leaned forward to answer her question. “The bandits wore the symbol of Braso, the same way the vast majority of soldiers there do.” To demonstrate, Fudral shoved back his sleeve, and showed the sword and shield tattoo on his forearm.

“I never suggested it was limited only to Srona,” Percival answered next. “I think it’s pretty clear from the fact they all happened on the same day that they weren’t. But my main priority in coming here was to prove that Srona was attacked, because there are those who refused to believe me.” Though his gaze flicked to Brienne, he said nothing more.

Fudral’s expression hardened at Raidou’s accusation, but he did not take the bait. Instead, he simply replied with a question of his own. “What good would soldiers be without food, medicine, weapons, tools, scholars, and strategists? We do not have access to these things without the other territories. It would be suicide to break our bonds with them.”

Hugh, the last to be addressed, gave a small shrug. “There would be an emergency election,” he stated. “A substitute would take her seat for a short while, but only until the votes were counted and a new President was sworn in.”

Demian approached the stand, and all gazes turned to him.

Percival offered a slight nod. “We don’t take too much at once, as it upsets the Grove Guardian. But we do keep a healthy supply, in case of emergency.” He clenched his jaw, blew out a quick breath through his nose, then continued. “We’d have had plenty for the cave-in, and anyone injured in the bandit attack, had our storage building not been burned. As for soldiers from Braso, we’ve hired them on a few occasions, when the need was high or we didn’t have enough people on hand to collect. It was incredibly expensive, and not something that we could afford to do often.”

Brienne looked from Demian to Fudral, then back again. “Fudral and I have collaborated a great deal since I was elected. His men often escort delegations from my office, or other Ordsean officials. I’ve also used them to guard my public appearances.” She hesitated for a beat, then finished, “While my team does scan each man’s credentials before assigning them, Fudral’s recommendation carries the most weight. He personally selected my bodyguard.”

Fudral nodded as Demian posed his final line of questioning. “It is correct,” he stated. “Most of the work that my men engage in is tied to Ordsea, as they can pay for the services. The reality is that my men need to eat, and food is expensive.” Tiberius opened his mouth to interject, but Fudral quieted him with a raised hand. “I do not blame Dagan for this. They must equip their farmers with the necessary tools, and the resources in Srona are not infinite. So too must my men be given the equipment to train and protect, which requires money. We do send small detachments to help guard Dagan food transports, but there are rarely enough resources and bodies to send to Srona.” Though he looked momentarily pained by the confession, he went on. “It is unfortunate, but that is how our current system works.”

“I’d hoped to change that,” Brienne inserted, jumping onto Fudral’s train of thought. “That was my entire platform. Working together to be more efficient, as a united land, instead of five territories. If Dagan needs protection, and Braso needs food, why should money be the deciding factor? Why could they not work something out between them?” She shifted to face Kagami. “Though I did win the election, I would confidently say that the most outspoken people in Ordsea opposed me. There were many protests, even a fairly rowdy one at our debate.” She frowned. “It was something of a slander campaign, not on the part of Hugh himself, but those who did not want to see me win. It was…” Her voice trailed, and though her spine remained ramrod straight, her hands trembled as they slipped into her lap. “... frightening, at times.”

Destin, who had positioned himself beside Brienne, gave her shoulder a grandfatherly pat. Recognizing her discomfort, he changed the subject by taking on a question of his own. “Yes, I’ll admit, the timing was an odd coincidence. Two weeks or so back, I came across some fascinating literature referencing a time before the territories existed. It spoke of ‘words of power,’ or phrases that held the secret to a unified region. As I’ve always been intrigued by the history of our boundary lines, I asked an adventurer to speak with each territory about these words. I thought the whole thing innocent enough, and of course, I never would have sent them on this quest had I known what was happening to each of you.” His dark gaze swept across the gathered representatives, then moved to the gathered Players and NPCs in the audience. “I don’t believe that they are present today. In truth, I’d forgotten all about it, as I never heard back. Did any of you speak with an individual about these words?” When Tiberius, Percival, Brienne, and Fudral all nodded, Destin’s bushy eyebrows rose. “Well isn't that interesting.”

The walls had risen, the congregation of elements aligned and pulled into essence and being. All had arrived at the call and command of the great Commander of the Elements cry. The tiny specks, annoyance incarnate, should have fallen as they were besieged by the power of the natural forces that would envelop them, overpower them, bring them to a crushing end just as all things would; fallen before the might of the elemental order. There was nothing more for them but to submit.

The eyes stared down from behind the wall of protective ice, frustration and a tinge of displeasure shifting across them as it watched them not only resist, but succeed in doing the impossible. The impossible…felling a head, leaving it desecrated and tortured. Obliterated from its natural beauty, as if it were nothing more than a simple obstacle to be overcome.

    "I don't want chaos."

        "This is a trust issue.”

The words seemed to echo through the hall, floating in as if from somewhere beyond. They lingered in Wushen’s ears, wrapping into its mind, causing it to pause. It glanced around, as if looking for something, shaking its head before turning back to the pests that scattered before it. Pests that stabbed at the heads that it had summoned, that it bore upon itself. Pests that worked together, that moved as one individual among a group of many.

It didn’t understand. It was all power, all controlling, the ruler of the elements. It would not be felled by these things. These things that should bow before it, should be thanking it for its mercy in ending them quickly. It did not understand how it could be…losing…?

It would burn them with venom, with toxins, with the very liquids of the elemental plane that would leave any beast screaming for a release from the torment. It would end them through excruciating pain and suffering, leaving nothing but their ephemeral screams to echo in the instance that they disappeared, forever.

Their world would be brought to a jarring halt, the electrical energy from the natural energies released within the essence of Novalite fusing flesh and carapace. It would render the pests into nothing more than ash and memory, a melted form of nothingness that could be consumed, or ignored, as it desired.

It growled to itself as they assaulted the beauty that was lightning and energy brought to bear; attempted to overpower it with their feeble attempts at nuisanceness. It laughed at their cuts and slashes, at their screams and despair. It heard, from a distance, the call of one that seemed to try and pull its attention towards it. In its moment of awareness, it accepted, giving them exactly the end they wanted, they deserved. And then it moved on, forgetting them in an instant…

Through thimble and thistle, it would quake fear into the beings that had dared to stand before it. It would remind them of the single instance of truth. Nature would not yield to the very creatures it created, allowed to live, and cared little for. It would ignore them no longer, and they would learn to regret it.

The very essence of Terra would be called forth through the form of Overgrowth, and they would beg for a reprieve, an end, to the torment that they would face. Wushen growled in anticipation, its eyes darting across the field. When it looked back, it could only shiver in an unfamiliar way as it saw the dispersing form of its once great incarnation; little more than a drift of memories upon the non-existent wind. It would get revenge, against these things that dared to harm the natural order. It would find a way…

    [Matches Blight, Fallen, Thorns]

Fist of Terra (Standard Attack): deals 250 damage to highest hate, Overgrowth gains thorns 4 until the end of its next turn.
Grasp of Gaea (Critical Attack): deals 100 unmitigated damage to all members of the team, and applies Freeze 2

    • Freeze 2: 96 damage when struck by an attack, cannot act for 2 turns or until hit.

    Flailing | HP: 0/2000 | DMG: 200 | MITI: 75 | ACC: 4 | EVA: 0

Flailing: Cannot be targeted by any post action unless it is a direct healing effect.
Last Ditch (Standard Attack): deals 200 damage to highest hate
Bulldoze (Critical Attack) deals 100 unmitigated damage to highest hate and inflicts [Stunned]

    Wushen, Elemental Warlord | HP: ????/???? | DMG: 200 | MITI: 75 | ACC: 4(+3) | EVA: 0
    [Can be Targeted with Attacks]
