  1. “NOOO!” The sound ripped out of him, a guttural cry. It was primal and broken, mixed with panic, rage, and desperation. Calenia strained against the knight’s vice grip. Her voice was silenced as its fist tightened around her throat. Leron screamed and shouted, slamming his spear into the knight over and over to no avail. He made a last ditch attempt at freeing his familiar by jamming his weapon through the knight’s wrist, but it simply blocked with its free arm. To Leron’s surprise, Calenia didn’t break apart as intended. Her form shifted in the knight’s hand, expanding until sh
  2. From Cardinal came something new. It outstretched its crystalline arms, taking in the vile air of the 29th Floor. It moved lithely, ghost-like, ignoring obstructions in its path like they were as insubstantial as dust. Pixels spasmed out of control, and strange, abrupt audio queues sounded at random intervals. Something wasn’t right. Something was broken. The player known as Leron encountered it first. At level sixty-three, there was virtually no monster that coul
  3. a sequel They expected Morningstar would come. The precautions Uso-Tsuki had put in place to stop him were, in truth, only meant to slow him down. The inner council--the very best of Uso-Tsuki's assassins--were mere pawns that drove his goal to fruition. It was a suicide mission for all but himself. He traded the lives of his followers for that of his old friend and leader, and when all was said and done, he would take his rightful place on the chieftain's throne. Marsonia was nearly his. The Chief's quarters were just down the hall. There were no guards stationed outside,
  4. He shook his head. "I figure it's because I've already done the quest. There's not much translating required if you can piece it back together." "Or maybe I did try learning Spanish and I just can't remember." Pollux's eventual translation led to their completion of the quest. "You keep the tablet. I think I still have one from ages ago," he said, not bothering to stifle through his messy inventory to confirm. It seemed to him like the type of item worth keeping (because eventually he'd do the questline! eventually!). In keeping with his promise, Morningstar would pay for lunch.

  6. The lancer shifted his stance defensively. In a panic, he retreated from Morningstar, desperate without his wall. Morningstar scoffed, flourishing his blade in a quick, elegant fashion. He charged, impaling the knight through his back. When he shattered, a prompt appeared, indicating quest completion. He clicked it away and stood alone amidst the pixelated remains of the knight, on their way back to wherever they came from. He didn't stop to look over his rewards. Instead, he stepped back on the road to Charko, where Typhoonflame was likely still waiting. The walk back was quiet. His
  7. He knelt down, helping Typhoonflame up. From his inventory came a sparkling blue crystal. "Take this. Activate it and it'll take you back to town. I'll finish up here and meet back with you when I'm done. I'd feel more comfortable now if you were in a safezone." He expected her to argue, but she didn't. He thanked whatever god was out there and moved back into the fray, allowing her to vanish behind him. Maybe her fractured health bar scared her. Maybe she simply had the sense to run when things looked grim. It didn't matter. Whatever the case, she was safe. Morningstar stretched his
  8. note: typhoonflame has left site so i will be continuing alone. Typhoonflame met his challenge head on, but her inexperience would cost her. She moved to strike the lancer but mispositioned her strike, lodging her weapon into a tough spot of his thick armor. She jiggled it but could not get it loose in time. The stun wore off and the lancer gloved hands around the blade, keeping her from retrieving it. She had no choice but to let go; however, she stayed put, struggling to free it from his monstrous grip. This gave the shielder the perfect opportunity to jump in and protect his partn
  9. NIGHT dragged him by the collar when he went the wrong way; he yelped, choked out by the blind girl. “random question, have you used it to look for ghosts at night before?" "Oh don't even get me started. I've seen one in Snowfrost, and in Senimoh, and in the Tablelands, and in..." "i heard there was this one place on the twenty-seventh…” "Really? That sounds familiar." Dying flames sputtered inside hanging lamps left unattended on the ground. Star shut off his night vision, examining the weary faces of the Dagan villagers. "Worth a shot," he replied. Without the mass h
  10. Freyd urged the party to push the kings towards the flame--so Morningstar did just that. He bullied the healthier slime king into backing up, forcing it to kite away from him and trap itself between the bite of Star's blade and the burning embers caused by (whatever caused them). As the flames latched onto the king's gelatinous body, Morningstar advanced. They destroyed the creature on two fronts: wild flames climbed its back, searing its green flesh into smoky black ooze, and Morningstar's sword caught in its thick organless gut. The damage ticked together, and it's health bar crumbled i
  11. Knocked aside by the swipe of the king's spear, Morningstar groaned. He clutched his ribs, picking himself up. To Mina, he nodded. "Just doing my job," he said, curling his fist into a thumbs up. In actuality, it hurt a bit. He wasn't fond of being hit--who was? (tanks probably). That's why he valued speed so much. Be quick and don't get hit, right? Too bad the Forgotten Time King was his equal. He pulled up beside his teammates with a hobble. Then, he attacked. It was a quick swipe of his blade, directed for the king's midsection. He lashed at the undead giant, driving his

  14. "KP's a real maybe. It's a spooky place. I wouldn't be shocked to find out the sword was there." "Can we axe the labyrinth too?" Bee asked. "How come?" "I think it's been cleared." Beneath furrowed brows, Morningstar studied her face. “Oscar was heading there, last I checked. You think clearing it caused the quest to begin?” Bee only nodded. It was no more than a guess, and hardly educated at that. But she was confident. Morningstar trusted her gut. If the labyrinth was cleared, he figured that the sword would be elsewhere. Why steal from the labyrinth only to stay the
