  2. She looked at him, honestly surprised as all heck that he seemed to truly be worried about her. She knew that they had agreed to do some quests together, but this level of worry was new to her. She nodded though, a soft smile on her face, "Yeah, nothing that won't end on its own. Are you good?" She didn't want to be the reason that someone else was hurt too badly, though, looking at his health bar, he was better off than she was. "It's okay, I'm just glad that I had help with this one. I might not have faired this well solo." That was the honest truth there. She knew that if she had gone solo, she might be dead. That wouldn't be a great story to have told to her family. Well, they wouldn't know how it happened, just that it happened. Okay, those thoughts aside, she looked at Chase again. "We should head back to town and rest for the night. Perhaps we could pick up a new quest tomorrow?" Yes, she was inviting him back out, but only if he felt like it.

  3. This dual headed snake was starting to really get on her damned nerves. She was happy to stay out of Chase's way to make sure that he had the room to be able to attack the thing. But of course, the shifting sands was not helping either of them at all. She watched as Chase's attack missed the snake, and she even heard the curse that he growled at the snake. She waited, and watched, waiting for the perfect moment.

There. She charged for the snake, and quickly hit the snake. She was expecting it to miss, but instead, she managed to keep her footing and she hit the snake. The true sign that it was dead was the fact that the snake vanished in the pixels that signified death. She waited a few moments, waiting for the sand to stop shifting with the snake's presence gone. Once that was settled, she looked at Chase, leaning against her spear a bit.

"Well, that was... intense." She managed a small chuckle before walking over to him.

  4. She just shrugged, there was no point in feeling sorry about a two face snake who wanted to call someone a friend. No point at all. He accepted the offer of food though, and she started to guide him to a little shop of sorts. "I found a place that gives a variety of food. You should be able to find something that you like there." She didn't know what he liked, so taking him to this shop would be the best idea really. Less chances of angering someone and making a new enemy today. At least, she hoped that was going to be the advantage to this place, she didn't know, nor really understand other people anymore. At this point, they all just confuse the crap out of her, and she didn't know how to stop that confusion from coming to bite her in the ass anymore. Today was a good day to attempt to at least make sure that the day wasn't going to end with another attempted dagger in her back.

  5. Having some kind of confidence thrown her way for her craft was kind of nice. Now, she just needed to believe it herself really. "Thanks." She smiled as she thanked him for that small boost of confidence, only for it to vanish in time. She was glad that Chase had hit the dual-headed snake, but at the same time, it apparently felt like hitting them both in the same attack. It actually caught her by surprise, so she hadn't been prepared to defend herself in any way, shape, or form.

She looked at Chase and gave a quick nod, "Probably as alright as ever when getting that surprise attack." Man, that shit actually hurt a bit, and this poison wasn't going to help much in that regard either. She just sucked that up though and took her turn, rushing right for the snake before she quickly hit it. It was almost dead now, perfect. As she moved away from it, she checked her health and status, this poison was going to last for a while and probably even after the boss was dead. At least she had the health to be able to survive that.

  6. Okay, so she wasn't going crazy, yet at least, so that was nice to know. She nodded lightly as she moved her spear so that it was in a better position to attack. She doubted that she'd have a good counterattack rate like Chase, but she could still at least just hit the darned thing. While they both had a different stance, it still showed that both were ready for anything. There was another rumble, this time closer to her feet, and her grip tightened on the spear.

"Oh? Feel free to stop by at any time, then. If I don't have it in stock at the time, I'm certain that I could get it made." She was giving him the offer, because it only felt right, plus, she needed some kind of business to come by. She probably should have picked a more noticeable place than where the shop was, but that could be dealt with at a later time. "Right now, my best work in potions, but I'm still learning the others." She would have continued talking, but the ground burst in front of them.

The two-headed snake finally showed itself and seemed to just stare at them, so she decided to go first. "Here goes nothing..." The words were muttered before she went for the snake, but the sand under her feet started to shift as the snake moved, so she adjusted her footing and still managed to stab the snake, dealing some damage. "So, the ground moves, perfect." She said that loud enough for Chase to hear as she moved to be out of his way.

  7. She looked at him finally, he had pulled his hat down, and it made her wonder if she said something wrong. "Sorry, I didn't mean to offend.... I just came here with a friend, and it went poorly." She wasn't in the mood to divulge more. This was supposed to be a happy time right? Possibly, but they were also stuck in this game, unable to log out and go home. She didn't even know how long they have been trapped anymore. She felt like it had been forever, but what if it was just the game making it feel like that?

She couldn't really nail that mystery on the head, and she would be lying if she said that it didn't bother her a little. But, that wasn't a thought for now. She stopped just before the teleporter and looked at him. "Um... okay? It wasn't really out of my way though, but if you're hungry, there are some good things up here to eat right now."

    @Entropy

  8. Boy, when he wanted to talk, he could do just that, and it didn't bother her in the slightest. Instead, she just intently listened to everything, and smiled. "It's okay. I think it's cool that you can make trinkets. I'm an alchemist, so I just make potions and stuff." She chuckled lightly before looking around. It wasn't until she felt some kind of rumbling on her feet that she felt like they were getting close. "Did you feel that?" Of course, that could just be her nerves getting to her about fighting a snake. It was a little too close to home as a reminder after all.

But, the rumbling under her feet stopped soon enough, and she just looked around. She was starting to think that she might have just imagined that. "Either we are getting close, or my imagination is getting the better of me today." She wasn't sure which one it was really, but hopefully Chase could help determine which it was.

  9. She had honestly gotten so used to just walking silently, so that had transferred into her walk right now, even though she was guiding someone to the teleporter through the maze of a town right now. She looked back at him when he said something, and she shook her head, "No, not at all." She knew that more of an explanation was going to be needed, she just didn't know how to exactly say it or anything like that.

"I just don't talk to others that much anymore, or ever." She didn't know if that was going to help explain much of anything either, but she didn't know this guy well enough to divulge. Plus, he used daggers. Dagger users couldn't be trusted at this point, and that was a thought that she was going to stick with no matter what. But, that didn't mean that she couldn't attempt to be nice to them.

    @Entropy

  10. "I've seen the girl that hangs with Koga use purple sword arts." She mused the thought out loud as she walked, her gaze was more looking around, still trying to see if she could find this snake, but there was nothing just yet. "I honestly think mine might go a mixture of black and brown, or white and brown, it all really just depends I think. I've been trying to decide a certain look, but just haven't really had the mindset to do so."

She had turned away, so she didn't notice that Chase had looked over her and her gear. But when he asked about it, she looked back at him, "Actually, I had my spear and armor made by Koga and my bracelet was by his partner, Noctua." She didn't know the true relationship between those two, so she wasn't going to assume anything. She thought for a moment, wondering if she should ask him where he had gotten his gear. After a few moments, she settled on asking, "What about you? Where did you get your gear?" She was now hoping that she wasn't over stepping any kind of unspoken laws for conversations.

  11. He was murmuring something, and she didn't know if that was something for her to reply to, so she didn't. Instead, she focused on attempting to see if she could find where this snake was. Would it be bad if she imagined that this two-headed snake was her ex-best friend? Because honestly, that was how she might look at it. Neph knew that she wouldn't be able to actually harm Lethia in any kind of way, so perhaps this truly was the best form of therapy for her right now.

She looked at him when he talked about his old sword, "I don't know, I think this one works well with your colors too. The bright white from the sword gives an interesting contrast to your blues." Okay, so perhaps she shouldn't have gone into alchemy in the game and instead tailor or something, but she still liked the chemistry feel that she kind of had with her alchemy. "I actually haven't made a true color scheme for myself, though I'm starting to think it's going to have some black in it because of Bast."

There was a slight shrug with her words, a color scheme hadn't been something that she had truly looked at when she started the game. She just started with the basic colors for a new character and that was that.

  12. She had been about ready to explain what she meant, but Chase was already trying to remember what it was that would show them where the boss was. She waved off his apology though with a smile, "It's alright. I honestly don't expect you to remember everything right away." She wanted to help him feel better on that front, it wasn't entirely his fault. Who knows how long it has been since he had last done this quest.

She looked at her spear and thought on the best way to explain what her inspiration had been. "When I got the game, I had been in the process of studying Egyptian Mythology. Nephthys is an Egyptian Deity, while Bast was named after the Egyptian goddess of protection and cats. Spears had been the choice weapon of the guards, and well, it just seemed to fit my theme when I started the game." That was the moment that she realized she might have talked too much, but, he wanted an answer, and she was more than willing to tell him the answer.

"Your weapon choice seems to work perfectly for you, plus, you have an amazing weapon to go along with the choice." She always liked seeing people who have the best weapons to go with their choices of weapon skill. Most of the time, they just seemed to pair perfectly.

  13. It was starting to feel like she might be able to just do most of these quests alone at this point. But, she wasn't going to point that out right now. It was probably already known after all. She was getting stronger as they went on doing these quests. She nodded though, "Must have been that easy if you don't remember it." There was no doubt now that she might be able to finish this quest pretty fast. She didn't mind that really, easy quests to kill were good, because that meant that she didn't need to worry about it taking forever.

His worry about keeping her unharmed though was sweet in its own little way, and it was something that she wasn't going to say aloud either. Some things were meant to just stay silent. Plus, her frequent thanks to him was probably already annoying enough. She quickly followed after him as he headed toward the exit for the safe zone. "I'm probably asking too many questions as we walk toward these bosses, but, is there any kind of signifier of the boss like with Byakko?"

  14. She couldn't blame him for wanting to attempt the festival. It seemed fun, but she wasn't fully into it either. Then again, it involved people, and she wasn't much of a people person anymore. "Getting lost is easy when an event is going on. A lot less space to walk." She just kept guiding him through the different tents and things that had been placed up for the event, while Bast walked closer to Entropy than to Nephthys. Protection and all that.

She shook her head though, possibly faster than she had originally intended, "That would involve me actually feeling comfortable around people." It was a matter of fact statement, one that could be easily seen by how she carried herself. She kept distance between herself and everyone, there was even a good amount of distance from him, even though Bast was filling it with her panther self. She didn't even turn to look at him as she said that, she just kept walking, trusting her familiar to protect her.

It hadn't taken long for them to get to the seventh floor. She took a quick moment to see if she might be able to learn anything else. Nephthys looked at Chase once she was done making sure that she was one hundred percent ready, and she smiled lightly. "I'm all set if you are, and truly, thank you for the company." She felt like she needed to say that more, perhaps it was because she didn't truly know too much more about social interactions anymore.

"So, a two-headed snake?" There was a bit of disdain in her voice, but that was something that she could easily just get past. Killing the snake would be good therapy. "When you fought this boss before, how hard was it by chance? I just want to make sure I'm making a somewhat suitable game plan in my head." She liked making sure that she was going to not die or fail anything. Plus, having a game plan is something that helped her feel a little more prepared for the fight.

  16. Bast was just glaring at Entropy, and Neph wanted to know why, but she also didn't want to know why. She was just going to trust her familiar right now. She did nod though and pointed in the right direction of the teleporter, "This way." She attempted a small smile as she started to lead the way over. "You're welcome, though why are you on this floor?" She kind of hoped that he wasn't up here to hunt monsters, because that was basically a death wish for someone of his level.

She was trying to inquire about him, mainly because she doesn't trust dagger users. Not after Lethia's attempt on her life so long ago. She already had the feeling that trusting him wasn't going to happen, but now that she truly knew his weapon style, she wasn't going to trust him as far as she could throw him. She was going to attempt to keep an open mind though.

  18. He at least had a good outlook on helping her out, which was probably better than some others might think or feel. She wasn't going to fight it really, if just following her was making him feel useful, then that was all that mattered. Of course, she didn't mind his company either at least, she was starting to feel more and more like she didn't need to worry about being killed by either a monster or a player with him around at this point. It was making her think that perhaps reaching out to others to level with them would be a smart and good idea as well. "As long as you feel useful, then I won't mind you keeping me company."

She walked into the town and found the NPC easily. She walked over, talking to the Amazon about how Byakko was dead now. The NPC seemed to be genuinely happy about that, but for long would it last was the real question on that. But, once she got her rewards, she walked over to where Chase waited for her. "Yep, we should be good to go to the next floor." Perhaps she should have done this a while ago, go through the quests and do them. She knew that she missed some lower leveled quests, but she'd just kill them easily later, or perhaps help someone who needed to do the quest as well.

  19. "I can agree with that," her agreement with his statement was fast. She wasn't one who wanted to deal with more trouble. She knew that there would probably be less trouble for her if she were to actually give a guild a thought, but that involved a level of trust that she didn't know if she could hand out still. With Chase alone, she was still slowly feeling like Lethia wasn't about to just jump out of a tree and stab her to death. She knew one thing though, if she saw Lethia's name on the Monument, she wouldn't know if she should feel relieved or sad. Feelings were complicated, and this game just seemed to make that complicated feeling worse.

"It's appreciated, but if you feel like I might be biting off more than I can chew, feel free to go full out." She really did appreciate the fact that he was trying to make sure that she didn't feel useless, but at the same time, what was that making him feel right now. "I do hope that you aren't feeling useless right now. I don't want you to feel that way either." She was just kind in that way, she liked to make others feel included, when she wasn't looking over her shoulder to make sure that a certain white haired snake wasn't behind her.

She took a moment to glance at her experience, how much she would get for this quest, and what the next higher leveled quest was. "If I get the experience I should, we could always go to the seventh floor and do Case of Wurms." She looked at him, a small smile seeming to be on her face, "Thank you, for offering to come along."

  20. She looked at her spear and nodded a little, "It suits the theme that I went with when I created my character." She smiled a little thinking back to when the game wasn't attempting to kill them for good. But, that time was far in the past at this point. "Honestly, I struggled a bit at first still. The energy cost was a lot at first, so there was really not much I could do." She thought back to when she first started to fight things to get stronger, and she shook her head. She wondered if all weapon skills were like that.

She heard him muttering to himself, but she didn't comment on it. There were just some things that she wasn't meant to hear or ask about. She looked at him and offered a soft smile, "It's alright." She started to walk after him, trying to think of something to say, but at the same time, they both had admitted that they are more used to the quiet. She looked at him, "Thank you. I took the energy drain to heart last time and grabbed a mod to help lower that. It seems to have helped right now. You did great too. It's nice to not feel like I'm going to be in trouble if things go sour."

She smiled lightly, giving him a small nod, "I'll be sure to let you know." If she couldn't manage to run away that is. She was good at that, running. It had become something that she could easily do to get away from people and monsters. But, as she stared down Byakko, she didn't feel like running at the moment. She wanted to fight, and she wanted to win. Was this how it felt to actually have someone on her side instead of against?

She watched Chase and Byakko, noticing that the beast's health was almost depleted. That was a good thing, this could end in one more good hit, and the forests should be safe, at least until it respawned again. She did feel bad though when the beast whimpered from Chase's hit, but, it was also the beasts fault for lighting a forest on fire for no true reason. She looked at the fire that was starting to try and threaten them, wondering how she could stop it, when she watched some ice start to put out some flames. Chase's familiar was pretty interesting, and very helpful against fire.

She looked at Chase and chuckled before she focused back on Byakko. She'd focus on that reply once the beast was dead, mainly because she didn't feel like getting hit by fire or anything. Using her skill once more, she hit Byakko, having to adjust a little when he tried to move from her attack, but he got hit, and his health fell to one. The fire's around them vanished as Byakko vanished from their view. "I can't tell if you're impressed or not." She looked at Chase as she walked over, commenting on his remark about it being a while since he was her level.

Ah, so she had said the name, "I don't know if she is or isn't honestly, I haven't seen her since day one. Kind of want to keep it that way." She really didn't want to see that woman again, there was no friendship that could be salvaged after that attempt on Neph's life. She was happy to let that topic go though, because it wasn't something that she wanted in her mind twenty-four seven after all.

She nodded in agreement after a few moments though, she did wish that she was outside this game as well. "Life almost seemed easier out there than in here." There was a tiny shrug that came from her afterwards. She looked toward the fire when Chase brought it to her attention. In fact, there was Byakko not too far behind the fire. He wanted her to attack first again, and she nodded, "Alright." She didn't know what to fully expect, but she didn't mind that.

She at least had someone on her side who was going to help her out if things got rough. The moment that she saw Byakko fully, she did a silent prayer, hoping that the new mod that she had, was going to truly help her right now. Her spear started to channel her sword art as she rushed the giant fire tiger. With speed, she let the skill go, hitting the boss for a good amount of its health. She then quickly moved back a few paces, giving Chase room, and only then realizing that Bast was a full-grown panther once more, watching Byakko.

She knew one thing, "Getting that mod was a good idea." She had watched as her energy dropped less than it had the last time she used this sword art.

  23. She looked at Bast and smiled a little, "Yeah, she's been the only one on my side since Lethia tried to kill me. It's been easier to talk to her than another player." She hadn't noticed that she dropped her old best friend's name, but she didn't seem to care about that. She was still worried about him, wanting to be sure that he wasn't skipping sleep to help her with this.

"In that case, you're welcome. The company is still something I'm not entirely used to, but, it's nice really." She looked toward the smoke, and she wondered how fast it would be until they were upon the fire, and ultimately, Byakko. She looked at Chase and nodded as she started to follow him, her hand gripping her spear a little tighter than it had been before. It wasn't that she was scared of forests, it was more that fire bothered her, but she wasn't about to let that stop her from helping those who needed her help.

She chuckled a little though, "I've seen some familiars who don't talk at all. Each one is different, and they tend to take after their player more than anything else. Bast only talks so much because she was my only conversational partner." It was the truth, Bast was a talkative panther because of her. So that meant that she should probably talk less, right? Nah, she was going to continue to talk to the panther about everything and anything at this point.

  24. He didn't catch what she said as a joke, and that might have been a good thing with how horribly it sounded in her own mind. She thought of her brother, and shook her head, "I don't know if I can call it him ditching me. He came in with friends, like I did, and his friends don't exactly like me. So, I think it could be more called me separating myself from more problems." She just blurted that all out, absentmindedly, and of course, she didn't know that her brother's friends had died already. She never got that far into a conversation with him since everything happened with Lethia.

She looked at him when he yawned, and instantly worried if she had woken him up or stopped him from being able to sleep. "I didn't disturb your rest, did I?" She was actually worried about that, because that was a fast way for her to become an enemy to some, to be a bother. No matter how many times she had to tell herself that someone wouldn't answer if they didn't want to.

"Bast can't talk back like a person can, but I've been learning the differences in the sounds that she does respond with. It's kind of amazing, all the different sounds that a panther might be able to make." Of course, there was a theme behind her name and Bast's, but that was probably a conversation best left alone. She looked ahead, and squinted a little, "It looks like we might be headed in the right direction." She pointed ahead of them, but slightly to the right, there was some smoke, but it still seemed a little far from them currently.

  25. She nodded and looked back the edge of the village. Right now, she saw nothing, but that could all change the moment that they leave the village and actually start walking. She looked at Blizz though and smiled a little, before reaching out to lightly pet the familiar. He really was cold to the touch, but nothing that was too cold.

As he mentioned to get moving, she quickly sent him a party invitation. She figured that it would be best to be in a party, just in case. "Smoke, that shouldn't be too hard to find. As long as it looks the same in game as it does in real life." That was probably bad humor, but it was an attempt at humor, something that she hadn't done in a while. She looked at the kitten sized panther that had climbed onto her shoulder, the claws of the cat digging into the leather straps that it was able to find on her armor.

"I got Bast because I planned on going at this game purely solo. No parties, no anything really. Just me and her. I trained her to be a protector, so I have that extra mitigation on top of what my armor skill will give me when I put points into it." She lightly pet Bast's tiny head. "She's been my only friend honestly. My brother is in the game too, but he's got his group, so getting her early was a way to not be alone anymore." She stopped petting the panther's head as she looked around, trying to see if she could spot any sign of smoke yet.
