[SP-F12] <Lord of the Seas>

Recommended Posts

The dampened earth reeked of rainwater and decay. The sludgy ground squishing beneath his boots with every step, only reminded him how much he hated the rivers of the twelfth floor. Paw prints lingered behind his muddy steps, indicating that his familiar, King, was in tow. The leopard cub seemingly becoming far more adventurous since their return to the front lines.

How long has it been since we've been outside the shop? Two months? Three? The time itself has passed for more quickly than one would've hoped. With the recent Brigade drama things are in a rather uneasy state. Not to mention I have so much to catch up on.

"King, let us make haste. There's a rumored sea creature lurking along these waters and I wish to claim victory against it."

Traversing across the mushy path, the blonde and leopard somehow managed to get just outside the city's limits in record time. The amount of ground left before they would encounter the rivers of the floor was shortening rather quickly. Looking around for options, the General spotted a dock not far ahead. Looking down to King, he nodded in the direction of the dock and quickened their pace. The tiny leopard ran alongside him; mud splattering his grey coat along the way. Approaching the NPC Fisherman who seemed to be heading the dock, Oikawa accepted the prompt that popped up as they arrived.

The NPC Fisherman soon turned to him and spoke; "Looking for a ride across the river? I'd be wary young guy. There's a wyvern about terrorizing our waters and he seems rather formidable. Although I can get you across, it's a hefty fee given the situation. Do you still want to go?"

The blonde looked down to King. The cub yawned then nodded, a sign that he was okay with this despite hating waters. Accepting the opportunity to ride across, Oikawa and King quickly filed onto the boat. The fisherman released the noose around the dock post and hopped into the wooden pallet that was supposed to get them across the river. Settling into the rhythmic rowing the fisherman produced, Oikawa relaxed as he kept his eyes peeled for this wyvern.

Waves lapped at the edges of the boat as the trio waded across the lake. The blonde's eyes drifted in and out of focus as he found comfort in motion of their movement. King lounged about at the foot of Oikawa, quietly snoozing as they drifted on. This peaceful serenity, like all things came to an end, as a ripple erupted beneath. Something massive was n the move and NPC didn't hesitate in calling out what he thought it was. Scales broke through the surface as the Azure General Groggily rose to his feet and eyed the beast on the move. King raising his head, remained at rest as the blonde drew his blade motioned for the NPC to halt the boat and move behind him.

"You better be a challenge Lord of the Seas." Dropping into the pre-motion for <Over Radiation>, the General surged forth. Leaping from the boat, he activated <Charge> and racked the scaly beast with thirteen jabs and thrusts that soon activated the paralytic venom his sword bathed in. Rendering the beast immobile, Oikawa knew this quest was going to be a cake walk.

"Oi! This is the beast that has been terrorizing this floor? Tis' nothing more than an over-sized lizard that can swim." A tainted grin emerged from him as he drew his blade once more. Soaring through the air, he grabbed onto one of the rugged scales of the wyvern and whipped himself around so that he was seemingly straddling the beast. Standing, he brought his sword back, activating <Over Radiation> once more. The beast roared in pain before disbursing into thousands of pixels and causing the blonde to drop into the boat. The reward menu appeared informing him that he had received Lightning Rod, 2 Materials, and 1500 Col.

Plopping back down into the middle of the boat, Oikawa looked to the npc guide and motioned for him to continue taking them t the other side. I'm already halfway there, I might as well gather some materials while I'm out and about. Plus it gives me a reason to make King do something active hehe. "Please go ahead and take us to the other side. Despite that encounter taking far less time than I had hoped, we have other business we can attend to." The guide nodded and continued rowing them out to the land.

The waves settled as the boat approached the dock resting ashore. The blonde stood, groggily yawning as he stretched his arms to the skies above. King followed suit though his stretching consisted of flexing his paws and arching his back. The duo then exited the water craft and headed off towards the direction of the caves just within the mainland. "Don't go anywhere please. We'll be back as soon as we're done gathering some materials." Nodding, the guide sat on the post and gazed out to the sea. Well then, we best get to hunting.

  • 2 months later...

Stepping to the mouth of the cave, the blonde peered into the darkness that seemed to threaten them with empty promises. Unequipping his badge, the blonde procured his leopard plushie and attached it to his wrist as it gave him extra luck when searching for materials. Motioning to the cub by his ankles, Oikawa began to head towards the entrance. The darkness swallowed up as they entered. It didn't stay dark long however, as the cave slowly begin to light itself up again. The first of many tunnels appeared, offering him options. "Left or right King?"

The cub pawed at the ground for a bit before looking p to his master and and looking towards his options. After some internal deciding, the cub moved towards the right side tunnel. "Right it is. Keep your eyes peeled." The two then began to break off towards the tunnel. As they traversed the crumbled earth, Oikawa kept an eye out for glowing ores. It seemed he would be in luck as just as they passed the first of a few columns a glowing ore revealed itself. "One down, a few more to go."

Pressing forward, the blonde scanned the cavern for more ores. His luck seemed to have woke up on the right side of the bed today as he had already found at least 1 ore. "King, you see anything yet?" The cub growled, a definitive no or rather an uninterested no. "Come on you lazy cat, the more ores we find, the more money i get, which means more stuff for you. So help me out haha." The cub pawed around the base of the next set of columns, but much to his dismay, nothing was found.

"Better luck on the next set. Come on." Gesturing for the cub to continue tagging along, Oikawa continued to search the walls and clusters of rocks that surrounded them. His mind suddenly paused as a new thought crossed it. Where are the mobs at? Surely this cave has some type of creature lurking in these caverns? Hmm best not jinx myself. Looking back up, the ex-azure general continued to look along the walls. His eyes settled on another glowing piece of gem protruding from the wall. As he yanked the gem from the wall, something grunted behind him. Turning around he snickered, "Guess my concerns were heard by Kayaba. King, lets end this quickly."

Glaring at the three <Cave Knoll(s)>, Oikawa grinned as he reached for his rapier. Just before drawing it, his eye caught yet another material, gathering the item, he placed the material in his inventory and moved back in front of the cave dwellers. "Well now that you have my undivided attention, what do you wish to do with it?" The cub behind him yelped as he opted to step back and watch from afar, not that the blonde was opposed to that given King's apathetic nature. "Just sit tight buddy, this will be over quickly."

Shooting forward, Oikawa drew his blade and targeted the first knoll of the trio. His blade lit up as he activated <Charge> and <Penetrate>. The rapier struck through the knoll, piercing it's chest, arms, and throat as it dispelled into pixelated polygon fragments. "One down, two to go," exclaimed the blonde as the two other mobs approached. Neither of them seemed eager to leap into the death that their comrade had just succumbed to. Gesturing for them to come at him, Oikawa grinned as he prepared another <Penetrate>.

The two creatures remained un-moving as the blonde's rapier glowed once more. Activating yet another <Charge> <Penetrate> combo, the flash of white and blonde burst forward and made quick work of the next knoll in his way. The final and last knoll had apparently had enough, the creature snorted and charged forward. Winding its club, the creature knocked Oikawa across the torso, pinging his HP for a single point of health. Looking down, the cloaked boy could only laugh at the pitiful damage the creature displayed.

Not wasting anymore time on the creature, Oikawa unleashed a final <Charge> and <Penetrate> unto the beast, causing it to immediately disburse into fragmented polygons. Sighing, he collected the loot from each creature and sheathed his rapier. "Let's go King. I feel like we can explore a bit more before heading back. At least the next sub-tunnel that is." Guiding the snow leopard, Oikawa and his companion headed down the next tunnel. Rocks littered this part. Hopefully they could find something worth while.

Scanning the rocky barren tunnel, Oikawa kicked around pebbles in search for some more ores. King sniffed around the columns as usual. Although his skill involved healing, the leopard was more than capable of helping him find materials. The duo searched high and low until ultimately they found nothing. "Guess we should head back then. Lets go." Trudging back, the pair of companions, made their way back to the first tunnel. From there they would head back to the boat. And from there, back to the city.

Having returned back to the original tunnel, the blonde didn't hesitate to do another quick search to make sure they hadn't missed anything. It seemed King had the same idea as well, as he quickly sniffed across the floor searching for what the ex-azure assumed was materials. The two of them combined researched the sub-tunnel, turning up nothing all the same. "Welp we were off to such a good start, lets go ahead and get out of here. I have some orders to complete anyhow. These few materials will suffice."

Oikawa and King emerged from the rocky crevice and looked for the guide. Still tied to his post, the NPC waved them over, motioning for them to climb aboard. Reaching down, the blonde plucked King off the ground once more and plopped the cub atop his head once again. Stepping into the boat, he nodded tot the NPC so they could begin heading back home. The waters rocked steady as the NPC paddled back to the shore across. Though his original reason for coming was rather quickly dealt with, the rewards he had reaped far outweighed the inconvenience.

The ride back was shorter than the ride to, which seemed customary in any journey anywhere. Though he could certainly attribute it to the fact they didn't have to battle a sea monster along the way. Taking a step off the boat, he looked towards the NPC and thanked him, the old guide bowing o him in return. Parting ways, the blonde headed back to the main settlement of the twelfth floor. The road back seemed to take only minutes as he neared the warp gate. Stepping into it, he muttered "Starting City, Floor 1" and felt himself and King get whisked away back tot he floor where it all began.

The settlement of safety and beginnings suddenly materialized into sight as the two returned back to the first floor. "Welp, that was fun I suppose. We have orders and you need food so lets go handle those before we do anything else more taxing haha." The cub simply yawned and nestled into his mess of blonde hair as his master led the way towards the market. Once King's food was collected, they'd promptly return back to the shop so he could finish the orders he was sure was building up in anticipation of the next floor raid.
