[PP-F6] Testing the Waters

Recommended Posts

If there was anything he commended Kayaba with it was his attention to detail within SAO. He must have traveled all over to get the various locations perfect. Dameon was now on Floor 6 testing to see if he could more or less easily farm solo so he could get stronger. Though he was honestly taking his time doing so as his memories of the real world had taken over him. This floor reminded him a lot of his time in the military especially his training. The hot sticky humidity while constantly having to maneuver around trees and deadly animals. He wiped his brow of the sweat his hood had failed to collect. He also lowered his cowl completely revealing his face as he drank a bottle of water, something he had avoided doing for all this time. In fact, he barely ate at all and if he did it was only for in game effects. Either way he looked at it he was likely on a feeding tube in the real world. He lowered his hood as well as he rested against a tree near a small river clearing. He had yet to run into any other players in this area which was good but he still had yet to find a registered mob either. This meant it had either been farmed or something much bigger was in the area. He checked his map trying to pinpoint his exact location in relations to the other towns. He had acquired their location from the info brokers. As a solo player he had to take extra precautions and spend more Col than those in parties or even guilds. He couldn’t let anyone else’s death rest on his conscious. Throwing the bottle away as it shattered into data fragments he stood up and made his way toward the river raising his hood and cowl again deciding to follow it further upstream, with any luck he would find the origin, likely a mountainous area where he hoped caves or other such things would provide mobs to kill.

Ever since his past two experiences in dungeons, one with Ssendom and one with Zandra, he felt that they may have been one of the best and easiest ways to level up quickly. Well, on top of being fun of course. Just going through taking on the same field bosses would get boring after awhile. All of these dungeons, however, held different bosses every time, adding a variety to keep players on their toes. Deciding with his newer, stronger, equipment, he figured he would give a shot at trying to find one on his own on Floor Six. However, Jomei found himself wandering the jungle for hours, looking for some hint of a hidden door or passageway. But at the moment, nothing was coming up. The man let out a heavy sigh and rubbed the back of his head, becoming weary of walking around aimlessly. As he walked, with his eyes closed and head slouched, he heard a small splash. Opening his green eyes, he noticed that he had stepped in mud that lined a river. "Huh.. never saw this before." he thought to himself as he looked up and down the stream. The man figured this would be a good time to take a break, so he did just that. Finding a nice tree to lean against, the man slid down to sit on the ground. He took a deep breath and rested his eyes, but they shot back open when he heard the sound of something shattering. He looked forward and saw another player, sitting across from him on the other side of the river. "Oh, didn't see you there." he said with a chuckle.

Dameon was also caught off guard for the moment when he saw the man there along the river bank resting. It wasn’t difficult to see that the man in front of him was a much higher level. ‘Oh so that is what happened to the mobs’ or at least that was what he would assume, after all the man look exhausted and had resorted to sitting in mud to relax. His gear was the biggest give away that he was a higher level and as a tailor himself he knew the man was at least nine levels above him. Dameon would continue walking toward the man his own gear crafted by his own hand as well as ordered from elsewhere and also unique at least cosmetically. “So what brings someone of your level down to floor six?” Dameon asked cutting to the point as he checked his map realizing it was all mapped out now that he had moved forward at least for the jungle they were both in. Dameon was curious to the man’s response that would be the best way to tell of the man’s level as well as his intent, though the green gem was also a relief seeing as he wasn’t a player killer, or at least not anymore.

Jomei looked up at the man as he walked forward to approach him from where he originally was. He asked what he was doing on this floor, commenting also on his level. Jomei smirked, for he knew that it was not possible for another player to know their level without it being told to them, so he figured the status of his gear must have been a dead give away. Jomei leaned forward and rested his elbows on his knees, still looking up at the player who approached him. "Well, I was curious to see if I could find any dungeons in the area on my own.. But I've been searching pretty much all day." he chuckled, "Guess my luck ran out in that category for now." he said to himself. "So I'm just taking a much needed break.. And what about you?" As he spoke, he lifted one of his hands off his his knee to open up the all familiar menu with the very light sound  of bells with each button he pressed. After scrolling a bit through the inventory, a green bottle materialized into his hands. He pulled off the cap to the bottle and slowly sipped at the water.

"I was trying to find dungeons as well. Though I have mapped the entire area in the jungle and nothing. Best chance is upriver towards the higher ground and the mountains," Dameon said having been patrolling the entire area for a few hours now. He looked at the man and his gear, there was no doubt he would be helpful in the dungeon or even be of help locating it. Yet Dameon was still a solo player and would try to avoid it. "Anyways, best of luck to you," Dameon said as he continued to walk up stream waving his hand behind him as if waving goodbye. Though it seemed every time he tried to leave like that he was followed. He already realized what he had done and sighed.

Jomei blinked in shock when the man mentioned he had been searching the area for a dungeon to delve into as well. He knew that dungeons were the new big thing after they were first discovered a couple of months back, so the idea of someone else searching for one was no big surprise to him. What shocked the Irishman was that he had not run into this man during his search, since they had both been searching for hours. "Yeah.. That does seem like a good idea." Jomei said, looking up the river, taking another sip of his water. He then turned back to the man as he dismissed Jomei, wishing him luck. Jomei pushed himself up and crossed his arms as he watched the man walk away, "You know, we can search together if you want. You seem like you can hold your own." Jomei said with a smirk, now standing watching the man walk away. "I don't mind the company."
