[F7-SP] Grandmastering the art of the two handed sword

Recommended Posts

Macradon sat on top on one of the big mountains of the 7th floor. He saw, meditated on it with all his swords he had been using around him. This mountain was one of the far out ones, one of those that were near the outskirts of the floor. Macradon had been going days to get out to that place and he was coming to a time where he was soon to grandmaster his skill, <Two-Handed Straight Sword>. He was wearing his robes and nothing else. Nothing hindring his body's movement when he was supposed to do his sword arts. His three swords, the basic starter sword, Dragon's Sorrow and Crusader. The three sword he had been using the whole game. The 3 swords were tucked into the ground, point first and formed a triangle on the top of the mountain. Macradon would sit in a legged position. Breathing slowly and calming his mind for what was going to happen now. He was at a time where he should hone his skills to the finest of levels. With that in mind, Macradon would sit up, still legged, with his back straight, his eyes closed and slowly breathing while taking in all the air from the tall mountains.

The first of his swords, the basic sword, was the sword he started his whole journey with. A basic zweihander without the ricasso. This straight sword was a big block of steel with edges, something Macradon wasn't fond of, but it had kept hin running through the game quite well. The basic sword was stuck into the ground before Macradon, the Dragon's Sorrow at his left behind him in an angle, Crusader at the other side. Macradon took a deep breathe and opened his eyes. He would lunge forward from his legged position into an ochs guard. On his way up he grabbed his basic two handed sword to aid him in the form of the ochs guard. He held the hilt at his head height, just slightly more above with the tip pointing forwards and his arms crossed. The raised crossguard protected his hands from oncoming attack from the front. Macradon would tilt the handle a bit and let it get down just a bit to leave it at an oberhengen. As he was in the oberhengen his sword would glow, Macradon would jump forward and lightly swing his sword above his heard, swinging it in an arc over his head so it would be place slightly behind him in a Vom Tag guard.

From there on he would strike downwards from the right side, performing the <Avalanche> sword art with near perfection. Macradon would keep his eyes focused forwards at his imaginary target at the ones he had used the sword art against. A quick flash of memories popped up into his sight. His first fight with boars where he had to stun them for him to survive, his first meeting with dragons and their fierce high damage single target attacks. Macradon would not be able to clear those one by one and let them attack all at once so Macradon had to eliminate the damage they could come with by stunning them for then to go onto another opponent and so forth. With the strong downwards strike he came to the alber or the fool's guard as it was known as. Arms slightly bend, sword pointing downwards and having the whole upper body exposed, or so the opponent were to think, as anything that would engage upon an opponent that was in an alber would either get their hands cut off or a stab into the chest.

Macradon would transition his alber guard to a more mid defensive guard, the pflug or the plow. The pflug guard was a mid guard defensive guard, most attacks theat could come from this guard would be stabs. The hilt was at hip height and the tip towards his target. Macradon would not look at his sword to correct the stance he would let himself in, he would feel it through his body, feel its movement and its restrictions. His right hand curved around the handle, his left somewhat holding onto the handle and the pommel. His right leg slightly bent at front. He would look forward and slightly angle his blade so that it was facing diagonally instead of vertical tilt onto the sword. The sword began to glow a dim light, the light began to glow brighter as Macradon rushed forward and put his left leg at front, more bent and the right leg would straighten as Macradon leaned forward and had the sword at his right side, arms stretched and a stab was going straight into where Macradon wanted the sword to go.

Macradon was standing in an awkward ochs guard, or more like an oberhengen, and would pull his left leg back to his right and stand up straight, piercing the mountain with his sword by its tip and would let it stay there. Macradon would stand there and think of the things he had been doing with that sword. This sword was one of the swords he had been using at the start, but it wasn't the sword he used the most, so it wasn't much to talk about. He would quickly turn to the Dragon's Sorrow, rush by it and grab it at his right side at the same time as he ran by it. He would angle the blade slightly so that if he would swing with his it wouldn't be upwards but more horizontal. Macradon would stop a meter or two after where the sword was and stand in a neben hut guard. A lower guard that would lead to low to mid strikes. A guard where the sword wasn't in any offensive or defensive position, leaving the fencer rendered defenseless. Macradon would get in proper stance and let his sword glow its bright light as Macradon would use the true edge and make a horizontal strike from right to left, then turn the blade around so the true edge was still facing the imaginary target he stood by and would cut again in extremely quick succession.

This was his main AOE attack when he was facing many monsters on the lower floors. It was first much later he learned the <Lightning> and <Eruption> sword arts that were stronger AOE, but Macradon had not been investing skill points into that and did not have those unlocked at that time. Later he unlocked the 2nd rank of his sword skill and had unlocked much stronger AOE abilities that he would be able to use properly. He remembered doing the quest <Long live the Queen> where many giant killer wasps were after him and he just had to try to take them out with his stun AOE alone, that was before he got his other strong AOE sword arts he could use. Macradon would stand straight up after the use of the Dragon's Sorrow. Of three sword he had had, two of them were used in the same rank while the third and final sword he was using was the one he had used the most. The one with the most damage increasing enhancements, the one that looked most sleek and the one that felt more like it was meant for him.

Macradon tucked down the Dragon's Sorrow and turn towards his sword, Crusader. With quick haste he ran by the sword, like he did with the Dragon's Sorrow, and grabbed it. He would get into a true neben hut guard. His low guard with his left leg at front slightly bent, his right slightly bent as well. His sword behind him, tilted downwards down to the ground. His hands placed on the handle for an upwards sweep. He would go lower down in his guard with his legs and the sword art would activate. His sword began glowing in a furious light. Macradon flew forward just a bit and swept upwards with his sword, making the first of three uppercuts with his sword. As his sword swung up and above his head he would take a step in with his right leg and swing his sword behind him again by the left and let the momentum swing the sword back up, making yet another uppercut, he would repeat that step and do the third and final strike. His sword stopped glowing and he would stand in a right einhorn, or unicorn as it was known as as well.

Right leg at front, sword pointing upwards like a unicorn's horn , his left leg at the back, stretched out. Even though the guard wasn't the best of guards, it was the one that would be entered when using the sword art <Scooped>, a sword art Macradon used a lot when he had first unlocked it. Macradon would keep the blade up high with his hands, but he would turn around and get up into a vom tag guard. From there he would angle his blade slightly, making his sword glow in a light color. His body would move by the help of the cardinal system and would be moved around accordingly to the chose sword art. Macradon first mad a normal diagonal cut with his big sword, cutting from upper right to lower left. From there he would invert the blade to he would still be cutting with the true edge. He would spin around himself by the right, swinging his sword with him, cleaving that imaginary target. As he finished his turn he would keep the swing going and let it cleave by his right and end behind him. He ended up in yet a neben hut guard again.

From his neben hut guard, he would swing his sword upwards from lower right to upper left with a swift motion, his right leg would follow into the cleave and take a step forward, Macradon's eyes keeping straight forward. He would keep the momentum of the swing but angle it a bit different than just using the momentum as an uppercut, he would instead direct the power to the swing to a more horizontal cut, making it a middle strike from left to right, taking another step, this time with his left foot. A gust of air would swoop by the mountain range and would fly and push onto Macradon. He would keep his cool and stand as strongly as possible, not getting moved by the wind.

From his hanging sword at his right, Macradon would bring his sword with the momentum to swing behind him and and above to strike down from the upper right to lower left, taking another step to really get a lot of force behind the swing. With his next strong swing he would take a quick rush towards and swing. Three out of four cleaves done, only one strong cleave last. With a quick spin around towards the right, the last big swing was swung that would cleave through even the toughest of tissue. Macradon would not hesitate to just stop there, but he had not much more to do as he stood and would remember the first time he used this attack.

He would slowly begin to remember as he closed his eyes and listened to the wind blowing by him. That was when he remembered, he had never really done it before. He would chuckle slightly, it was true that he had never been in need of the sword art , not completely sure why though. He would ponder back and think about the stuff that he had been through that needed the other sword arts, maybe he would find something that was something he used once or twice. He would get down and sit on the mountain rock in a legged position with his sword tucked down into the rock behind him. He would meditate upon it and think.

He remembered the next sword art that he actually used a lot in combat. He would lean back slightly and then forward quickly to get momentum for him to get up standing from the legged position. As he stood up he would take his sword and pull it up from the ground, doing some fancy spins with it and a few jumps for the fancy look, the jumps and spins were not practical in any sense, but it made Macradon feel really cool. As he re positioned himself to another spot, he would take a quick step forward from a mid neben hut with the sword behind him. He would charge up a burst of attacks from this position and get a lot of force being swung around.

As he got closer to the imaginary target he would move his upper body around to the left, swinging his sword with him. With his left leg behind him he would propel himself with it, making him spin around. He would cleave the imaginary create once with the spin. Macradon would lean back and stretch out his arms, the sword in counterbalance with his body, making him a spinning top of doom. He would spin around using his heel on the ground as his pivot point and spin around 4 times, cleaving through the imaginary target, obliterating it with his 4 deadly cleaves. He would come to a halt of spins from the momentum created by his propelling.

  • 3 weeks later...

After succeeding his fourth and last cleave, Macradon would take a step forward with his right foot and let the sword lose its momentum as it swung from right to left. Macradon would stand up straight again and look back, he had to be sure that his attacks weren't too wild without real technique in them, even as a masterswordsman, Macradon still had something to learn. He would prepare himself for the next sword art to be unleashed. He knew that he had to focus on the oncoming ones because if he wasn't prepared, they wouldn't be to much use. The next pair of sword arts would be those that would need skill and technique to get of just right.

He would take a deep breathe as he would begin to get his flow up through his body. With a quick motion he would swing his sword around and prepare his mind to get his skills up for some precise fighting with proper technique and proper art, it was sword arts for a reason. He would sigh and close his eyes, taking one last deep breath before he would open up his eyes with a quick motion, as he opened his eyes, he would move his arms down low, still holding his sword. He would make it as low as touching the ground with the tip of his sword. He would quickly look behind him, just in case anything like a rock or a hole would be in the way for him.

His sword began to glow as he got into stance, left leg forward, right leg back. His body slightly crouching forward. The hilt of his sword at his hip height and the tip down on the ground. Macradon would quickly turn around his body and turn his head towards his back. He would swing his sword above his head as his torso and body would spin 180 degrees around to get into the opposite position of where he was before. As he would land down with his foot on the ground after the turn, he would cleave his sword cleanly down with an extreme amount of force. Grass and small pebbles would be pushed to the side by sheer force and impact from Macradon's powerful swing. Macradon would exhale and inhale again, getting his breathe done. He would stand up straight again. This sword art, <Back Rush>, was one of the most devastating single hit sword art Macradon knew, and it was really helpful when anything would approach from behind.

Macradon would keep on breathing a few more heavy breathes and close his eyes, relaxing and concentrating on getting the next sword art off with finesse and ferocity. His next sword art to use was his strongest AOE sword art to date, <Fight Blade>. This sword art is one of the strongest AOE sword arts in the 3rd rank of skills, consisting of 6 deadly sweeps of attacks from varying angles with the two handed sword. Macradon would prepare himself and get ready to do it, he would open up his eyes and get going. He would fly forward in his rush and get his sword into a neben hut guard again to activate his sword art. He would swing with the sword once, twice, thrice, even continuing up to 6 cleaves with his big sword. Whatever would have been in his way would be devastated by now and would not be standing anymore. Macradon would sheathe his sword and and take a deep breathe again. He was getting exhausted by all the strong, heavy hitting sword arts. He would wipe off the sweat of his forehead and close his eyes, he would take a deep breathe once again and exhale, slowly getting his body to a calmed state where he would be able to work on the next sword art.

Macradon would sit down and relax, thinking about his next pair of sword arts to do. Only 2 more sword arts were left. Firs of his Astral Hell, his strongest single target nuke as of yet, and tempest, a strong hitting stun. Both were fairly simple sword arts in comparison to an AOE 6 hit, but Astral Hell was still an effective sword art which would trample most other sword arts at that rank. Macradon would think through, which to do when and where on this mountain top, just to make sure he wouldn't take a wrong step and fly off the mountain. He would picture the scenarios in his head, staying in the lines of the mountain top and stay on the flat surfaces. Macradon would open up his eyes again and analyse the terrain laying around him. He would pin point any place to start out with his sword art <Astral Hell>.

He would stand up from his legged meditation stance and look for his starting position. Just like the image he had in his mind he would find the spot with most space in front of him. From there on he would get into a com tag guard, a high offensive guard with the hilt at his head height and his sword pointed upwards, ideally for a downwards strike with a lot of force. From there Macradon would propel his food forward as his sword would begin to glow. When he had reached half a meter of distance with his propelling he would swing downwards with his sword, making as strong gust of wind sweep behind the sword. Next off was a strike from the middle left. As he would do the cleave he would take a step with the foot from where he would make a sweep, he would continue this for 7 strikes in total. 7 deadly and devastating attacks. Most mobs against him with that sword art would not live to tell a tale of the knight taking them down with his vicious strike. Macradon would stop once again to get some air, doing all of his sword arts were exhausting and the higher the ranks the more energy it took him. He would pant softly and try to control his breathe.

He would pant softly, slowly getting control of his breathe again. With a few more deep breathes Macradon would calm himself and ready himself for the last sword art to come, the strong one hit stun, <Tempest>. Even though it was a fairly simple move, the precision it needed was more than most master swordsmen weren't capable off. Macradon would charge himself up with energy, ligting his blade up above his left shoulder, letting it lean down his back with the pommel pointing towards the imaginary target that would stand a few meters from him. Macradon would lunge forward with his left leg forward as his sword began its dim glowing light. As Macradon would pick up in motion the light became stronger, charging in strength as well as ferocity in the strike. Macradon would finish off his lunge with a strong bud with his pommel into the empty air, making a shock wave from the pommel and back, visible by the leafs and rocks flying around from the wind up here on the mountains. Macradon would keep in stance with the pommel still forward and him being in a broad lunge.
