<Let There Be Light> [PP-F2(Quest)]{Hikoru}(Completed)

Recommended Posts

Darius stood in front of the crying mother as she pleaded for any of the various adventurers passing through to save her daughter. She had run off with a friend to play in the nearby caves, but had been attacked by monsters and separated. Now she was lost in the dark caverns native to this floor, and it was up to Darius to find her. Rather than just rushing head first into the quest, he sent out a notification calling for anyone nearby to come aid in the quest. The most notable part of the message was "Large Col multiplier quest reward." If that didn't bring in some prospective members, he didn't know what would. He now stood next to the crying mother, becoming more and more aggravated at her automated weeping.

Hikoru was walking around the third floor, being done with crafting for the day. As he did so, he went and decided to check and see if there we're any quests that he hadn't done yet. He smiled and quickly made his way to him, his Familiar gripping onto his shoulder tightly. He made his way to the town teleporter, and made his way to Floor 2. He went to where the Quest said to meet the player, and he walked there to see a player clad in dragon-like armor. He came over and tapped the players shoulder

"Excuse me." he said "But are you the one needing some assistance for this Quest?" He asked quietly. He heard a squeak and saw that his Familiar, Sutetchi coming over and trying to sniff the new player. He laughed and held his arm out towards the player "My names Hikoru, and this little guy trying to sniff you is Sutetchi, my Familiar." He said with a small laugh

"Yes," Darius would reply to Hikoru's first question. The fact that he could've snuck up on Darius to tap his shoulder without Darius realizing immediately gained Darius' approval; and distaste. It was rude to touch strangers, especially by sneaking up on them. Darius looked over Hikoru for a moment, failing to realize his peer had his hand out-stretched. It was left in the air for an awkward amount of time before Darius saw it, firmly shaking it with a plated-fist. "I am Darius," was his simple and gruff answer. He was not one for socializing, especially when there was business to be done. All in all, Darius came off as rude and cold, and while he did not necessarily mean to do this, it was just how he naturally was.

Hikoru nodded as the man said his name gruff and quickly, and he liked that in a person. He personally didn't like having to drone on and on in conversations, unless he was either on a date or talking to an old friend and catching up. He personally liked to stay silent and listen, or say a few words and get to business quickly. He nodded at the man and send him a Party Invite, so he could keep track of his health and Energy levels and know when to have him stay back for a turn or two. He liked this man already. He stood tall and strong, even for his lower level. He seemed to know what he was doing, and confident in his abilities, something that he wasn't always able to do. He knew he would be the stronger player, but this man would be the one in charge, no doubt.

"Alright, just lead the way and we can get going." He said with a small smile. He whistled and Sutetchi stop scampering back and forth, resting on his left shoulder. He scratched the creatures chin and neck, making it rub into his fingers, enjoying the feeling. He smiled and stopped, the creature wanting more but understanding that it was time to focus. He stood by the tall player and waited for him to start leading, as he had no idea where he was going

Darius would accept the party invite, seeing that the player, Hikoru, was over ten levels higher than him. Without an answer or indication, Darius turned and started walking. They weren't given the exact location of the cave the little got lost in, only a large highlighted grid on their map. They would have too search for it. For how long was based on either their skill or luck. It was not like they were hard pressed for time however, as the day was fresh, a few hours before noon. The sun shone bright, the birds sang in the trees, and the day was jolly. To everyone else maybe. The edges of Darius' mouth, the only part of his flesh that was visible, always seemed to be tugged down into a grimace, infinitely scorning the world. Together, the two searched for cave they were looking for.

[After Roll Reaction:] After searching for ten minutes, neither player seemed to be able to spot the cave. They continued looking.

In order to find the cave, either player must roll a 14+ on the LD.

Hikoru followed silently, unsure of what to expect. But as he did so, the man didn't seem to know what or where he was looking for. He sighed and pulled up ahead of the player, turning around and looking at the player with his arms crossed. His familiar tried to do the same, but failed and almost fell off of his shoulder. He helped him back up, then crossed his arms again

"Don't know what your looking for?" He said with a slight tone of amusement. He sighed and continued forward, starting to look around for the cave entrance. Suddenly, he heard a small voice say something, almost like a scream. And he turned in the direction, and saw the entrance behind a bush. He pulled it aside and whistled to the man. "Over here, you first." He said as he held the bushes over so the man could get into it

The corners of Darius' mouth tugged down as Hikoru effortlessly found the cave they were looking for. It seemed that Darius' luck was down, while his ally's was up. Either or was a good thing. It was primarily Hikoru who would be doing the damage, so Darius wished for him to have good luck. Hopefully they wouldn't actually have trouble fighting whatever it was that scared the little girls off. Even though Hikoru finding the cave effortlessly irked Darius, what truly irked him was the fact that he whistled to Darius to get his attention, as if he were a dog. His already downturned lips, turned down a little more. Without speaking, Darius walked past Hikoru towards the cave. Who knows how long it would take for them to find the girl, especially as Darius looked on into the dark cavern. He turned to Hikoru, saying one word, "Ready?"

Hikoru nodded and entered the cave behind the large man. He knew that he was a decent tank, but he would need to have backup, and with his Unique Skill, he wasn't going to be much help. It was almost as if he was an anti-tank, never drawing the attention of the enemy, which made him a good DPS Character, if only he could deal more Damage. He sighed and entered, letting go of the bush and continuing on-wards into the dark cave, grabbing his weapon, the Eclipse of Shadows, and breathed silently, enjoying the sound of of only his and Darius's footsteps echoing off the dark walls of the cave

Just before entering the cave, Darius would open his inventory and equip a new helmet and shield. The helmet being <Albatross>, giving him +9 mitigation, and the shield being <Aegis>, giving him +18 thorn and paralysis on crits. The reason he did this was because they looked odd when not in the full set, which was still waiting for completion. Darius would rather not roam around Aincrad with mismatched armor, looking like a toddler that was allowed to dress himself that day. The only people who ever saw the mismatched set were those who partied up with him, so it did not bother him that much.

Darius gains +9 DMIT, +18 Thorns, and Paralyze

[After Roll Reaction:]As they entered the cave and went deeper, the cave got darker and darker, almost to the point where you couldn't see. No doubt it would affect their combat with whatever they came in contact with. Hopefully they could the girl soon and leave this place. With this vain hope, Darius searched for the girl, but was unable to find her or a monster. Hopefully his peer would have better luck.

Hikoru watched as the player equipped new armor, and he sighed as he started to look around for bats. He knew that it would probably be a bit, but he wasn't sure. He breathed and started to search, wandering around the dark to see if he could find anything. He looked and saw a giant back above him. He smiled and went for a swipe at the creature, and hit it, finishing it off with Cross Edge, finishing it in one shot. He gave a small smirk and stood up

"Found and killed one!" He said with a small laugh. He sighed and looked for his partner in the dark, seeing if he could make his way back to him

It wasn't hard to find Darius. He appeared next to Hikoru out of the dark, almost astonishingly quite for someone wearing heavy armor. It was simple to follow someone's voice. More so the sound of them slaying a monster. His mouth tugged downward at the edges more than usual. It was a mixed blessing that he took his peer along. He had effortlessly found the cave, then slew a monster in one attack, but at the same time made it look so easy compared to what Darius had been able to achieve. "Just listen, try not to count on sight," he would tell his peer, advancing farther into the cave to search for the monsters impeding their way to the girl.

[After Roll Reaction:] Yet try as he might to find an enemy, he could not. There was no sound to listen to if the enemy did not move, and Darius had a feeling they would not move unless they basically ran into them.

Hikoru found the player and gave him a nod as the man told him to listen, but sometimes it was hard, as all he could hear was the footsteps echoing off the walls. He just breathed out silently and continued forward, breathing deeply and continuing to search, doing his best to try to listen and look at the same time. But sadly, he focused too much on trying to listen and didn't bother looking up, probably missing multiple bats and he just sighed, now starting to look up and seeing if he could find any bats farther in the cave

{13}<- Post number to keep track

As they searched, his peer finally seemed to not be able to do everything perfectly. He did not find a bat and wasn't able to slay it with nothing but a flick of the wrist, or so it seemed. Not that Darius wanted him to fail, but to do less well would be good. It would make Darius look less useless, as Darius hated being useless more than anything else in the world. He was useless enough in the real world and could hardly stand being useless in this world too. With a fierce determination, he looked for a bat. May his excellency, the creator of this world, Akihiko grant him the luck to find one overgrown creature.

[After Roll Reaction:] Yet try as he might, Darius was unable to find the blasphemous cousin to Dracula. The dark was hindering them more than he would've thought.

Hikoru continued to look, knowing that there were probably bats all around him, he just had to see them to attack them is all. He couldn't swipe around willy-nilly, because he would soon deplete his energy and leave him helpless to any bats that could attack him. He breathed and continued to search around and above him, seeing if he could make out any bats within the darkness around him, but sadly, all he could see was black, black, and more black. He sighed and continued forward, seeing if he could find any bats, or the young girl that they were supposed to find

As Darius and his peer searched, they wandered aimlessly through the dark, winding cave tunnels. They hadn't met anything for a handful of minutes and the silence around them was eerie. It was almost crushing. If it weren't for the fact that his peer was in the cave with him, he would be unsure if he was actually anywhere at all, instead just in some dark dream. As he looked, Darius began rapping his mace onto his shield, making a loud 'ding' each time he did so. He hoped it would draw out a bat.

[AFTER ROLL REACTION:] And it seemed to work. After a few raps on his shield, a terrible shriek came from farther down the cave. The flutter of wings soon followed and a bat shot from the darkness at Darius. He stumbled backwards, quickly ducking to avoid the bats claws. He didn't even try to swing at it, and neither took damage.

Hikoru heard the clacking of a shield from his ally, and soon a screech was heard, indicating that he had found a bat. He quickly ran over and leapt at the giant bat. It wasn't expecting him to hit, and he smiled as he landed on its back and sliced it's neck. It screeched and he jumped sending two roundhouse kicks to it's head, taking it to the ground and it soon turned into nothing but pixels. He smirked and stood up, sheathing his Dagger and giving a nod towards Darius

As the bat flew past him, Darius heard his ally take decisive action. A few quick steps and the a split second of silence, followed by a crash before there was a shatter of pixels, briefly illuminating his peer standing above where the bat had been. They now had one of the quest requirement out of the way. Now they had to find the girl and be done with this place. It would've been hard enough if the cavern was just that, a line of random tunnels stretching and expanding Akihiko knows how far, but to make matters worse, it was very dark. If the girl were sobbing, shouting for help, or doing anything that could help them locate her it would be wondrous. Instead, Darius had the nagging feeling that she was up and about walking farther into the caves in an attempt to get out by herself. Regardless, he searched, finding nothing.

Hikoru nodded and continued to search for the small girl. Now that the bats were defeated, it would be easy to find the girl without a problem, but the darkness would make it difficult to find her easily. Even with her yelling and screaming, it was hard to make out exactly where it was coming from, since it echoed off the walls. He sighed and continued to search around to see if he could find the girl that they were searching for. He followed the screams and soon found the small girl, huddled in the dark. He came over and held a hand out to her

"Come on, let's get you out of here." He said with a smile. The girl was scared at first, but she soon took his hand and stood, then held her hands up, wanting to be carried. He smiled and picked her up, holding her with his right arm and coming over to Darius "I found her, let's get her home."

  • 2 weeks later...

"Of course." Darius had been remembering the paths they had been taking, making a map in his mind. It was majorly intact. The fights with the bats drew his concentration away from envisioning the mental map, so there were bits and pieces missing from it, but Darius thought he had a pretty good idea of where to go. He started to lead them out, but the darkness made it especially hard to put a map to what they were walking through as there was no landmarks, just the vague sense of what turn they took where. After a few wrong turns and twenty minutes or so of walking, Darius led the small group out of the cave back into the forest. The light was blinding at first, but soon grew back to normal as his eyes adjusted. Now all they had to do was return to her to the mother and they would be done.

Hikoru followed the player around, following aimlessly, only being able to move forward by the sound of his footsteps. Soon though they were surrounded by light from the entrance of the cave. He shielded his eyes from the burning rays of light, as after being in the dark so long, one's eyes start to get used to the dim lighting of the cave. As he appeared in the sunlight, he got a better look at the young girl. Dark Brown hair, and Hazel eyes, almost the same as his younger brother.... He sighed and looked around for the mother, seeing her not far off and he brought her over. With a smile the girl shrieked and squirmed, and he let her down and she ran over to her mother. With a smile and a few tears, mother and daughter we're finally re-united. He smiled and walked over to the other player, holding a hand out with a small smile

"Excellent job. I suppose we're done here, and we can get moving our separate ways. Glad I could be of service, and I will definitely be in contact with you." He said, and he shook the mans hand and made his way back towards town, happy with how today had gone
