The First of Many [SP-F2](Complete)

Recommended Posts

Having slain that group of bandits, Darius would not be sated. He would continue looking. Continue fighting. Continue killing. It was a combined effort between his desire to sate his anger and his desire to gain more materials. One more group would do... one more... enough to destroy just a few more. Driven with fury, Darius practically ran about through the forest, searching for another group of enemies. He looked and looked until he came upon another group of four bandits. Fours, fours, fours. It seemed coincidental that all the groups roamed around in the same numbers. That would not start Darius as he stepped forth to attack them.

With his vision red, wanting nothing but his enemies dead, Darius attacked, marching forward as his enemies backed. On to slaughter, hide your daughter, blood there would be, for a dud was not he. Doth thou even rhyme? If not, you commit a crime. Dropping verses as fast as he puts enemies in hearses, Darius went forward. Or something like that would be said if the battle was narrated by some crap rapper. No. Those would not be the words used in Darius' head. He was a fan of metal for life, as metal was he. Now craving music like he craved eviscerating the bandits before him, he charged.

[AFTER ROLL REACTION:] Yet despite how epic Darius felt, he charged blindly at the enemy, leaving himself open and his weak spots bare. The bandits struck true, evading Darius' attacks and each dealing crits.

So close... Victory... He could taste it on that virtual tongue of his. There was a certain power in victory, no matter how small. It washed away all doubts, regrets, and grievances. It gave confidence, bravado, and strength. Victory was something Darius had too little of when he needed much more. He had always been an underdog, but crushing enemies, no matter how strong or weak made him feel better about his place in the world. His place at the bottom. It was a near inescapable position, having to climb through everyone else, but he was trying. He would not just lay down and die like so many others. That is why he kept fighting. That is why he charged them again.

[AFTER ROLL REACTION:] And it was with that reckless bravado, the undeterred determination, that Darius charged heedlessly forward, leaving himself open. The bandits kited him and his mace, dodging his attacks and hitting weak spots, but in the process killed themselves off of his thorns while the crits could not get past his mitigation. They shattered into pixels, leaving Darius nothing but materials.

-4 to Darius' HP(9dmg-12mit=-3dmg. Each enemy must deal at least 1dmg. -4HP)
-13 to Bandits' HP (-13 to All Bandits' HP (18dmg-5mit=13dmg. -13HP)
+4 to Darius' material count (17 total)

After the last of the bandits killed themselves Darius finally stopped, heaving great breaths. Only sixteen enemies... only sixteen... it wasn't enough and would never be enough. Yet Darius was tired... so tired. Adrenaline was great when you had it, but as it leeched away back to where it came from it left you so weak... weaker than anyone should ever be. Darius just wanted his full equipment... He just wanted it so bad. Having sheathed his mace, he settled for punching a nearby tree with his fist. Pain shot through his arm, but it was what he needed. His nerves calmed as repressants went through his system to dull the pain. Anger, insanity, instability... they plagued Darius. It was his price to pay to live. It was a price well worth it.

He left the second floor, going back to his workshop on the fourth.
