Even though the Boss Room for this floor had already been found, Mack was still running around in the limited amount of time that he had to explore the floor and level up prior to the boss raid. With the floor still being so new, there were still plenty of monsters to be dispatched, plenty of loot to be found, and plenty of experience to be farmed. Then there was the small fact of the matter that he needed col and materials. Well, not so much needed as wanted and the Blades were in Macradon's capable hands for the day so it was no big deal. That was how the red-headed giant had come to find himself in his current situation, surrounded by a small squad of green cloaks. So far, his mitigation and regeneration were still sufficient to basically protect him from anything that wasn't a floor level boss, but that would probably change before too long. Still, the fact was admirably illustrated by the way the swords and spears of the green cloaked undead skittered harmlessly off of his armor.

Mack: 125/125 (12/30) [Sword Art: Explode Catapult 3x3x14=126 DMG]

Green Cloak 1: -1/100 (Mit. 25) [126-25=101 DMG]

Green Cloak 4: -1/100 (Mit. 25) [126-25=101 DMG]

As the four green cloaked undead soldiers advanced, Mack slowly backpedaled. What he had in mind would be much easier if he was backed into a corner since that would force his assailants to all bunch up into one big group. Slowly, but steadily, Mack backed up until he had the knights right where he wanted them. Then he sprang his trap. Whipping Invictus across his body, Mack slammed the bearded axe head into all four knights from right to left and then repeated the swipe from left to right. Shifting his right hand up under the protection of the axe head, Mack then slammed his fist into the midsection of each of the Knights one at a time watching as each exploded in a shower of pixels before picking up his rather sizable haul of loot for the short, and violent, combat.

+3 ENG, out of combat

With the green cloaked undead having been defeated, there was nothing left for Mack to do but to rest on his laurels. Or, at least, to rest in his little corner where no one could sneak up on him in this fortress carved out of the side of a mountain. Before moving along any further, the wisest course of action was waiting for his energy bar to completely replenish itself. While it would take the monsters forever to kill him, it would also take his energy bar forever to recharge if he was constantly in combat. Keeping his dark eyes peeled and his head on a swivel, Mack watched in all directions as he seated himself in the corner of the corridor with Invictus resting easily in his lap. In a few moments, he'd be off once again.

+3 ENG, out of Combat (18/30)

Head still on a swivel, Mack kept a careful watch for any mobs that might spawn or that might try to approach him while he was still waiting for his energy bar to completely recharge. It was always a bit of a dangerous gamble to have to wait in a non-safe zone for the energy to come back. But, there was no other way to play it this time. Besides, it would have been much worse for him to be in this position if he was, for example, way up on the twenty-fifth floor. Not that it was possible to get to that floor of Aincrad yet. Fourteen was as far as they had reached. For now. Taking Invictus in his hands, Mack planted the carbon steel butt cap of the weapon on the stone floor and used the axe as a modified walking stick to push himself up and to his feet.

3 turns out of combat, energy full (30/30)

Checking his energy bar as he climbed back to his feet, Mack was pleased to note that it was very nearly back to a state of being completely filled. That meant that it was time to get moving to collect more loot and more experience from the castle. Shouldering Invictus over his right shoulder, the massive third in command of the Knights of the Blood Oath pulled the hood of his white trimmed crimson cloak up over his head to obscure his face and features and then began to move deeper into the castle. The ginger featured man didn't think it would take an overly long time to find some more of the green cloaked undead knights. Kill another four of them and make, at the minimum, another four crafting materials on top of the experience points they would give him. Not a bad trade.

As he continued to make his way through the castle, exploring rooms and searching for loot, Mack moved with a carefully light footfall. The simple fact of the matter was that he could move quite quietly when he really wanted to. Slowly, the mountain of a man crept forward, heading towards an open pair of stone doors and the pool of light that they were throwing out into the corridor beyond. Moving into the light that was cast by the doors, Mack peered inside and noted the presence of another small squadron of green cloaked undead knights. Of course, standing there in the light and framed by the doors, even computer generated mobs will take notice if you're not trying to be sneaky. Happily, though, they were too far away to attack just yet.

As the four NPC knights began to charge towards Mack, their cloaks flapping with the speed of their advance across what could best be described as some kind of ballroom, Mack sprang into motion as well charging across the distance that separated them as he drew back Invictus and readied himself to strike. Leaping high into the air, Mack dropped between the four undead warriors and began to go to work. Whirling in three complete circles, the leader of the Crimson Blades whipped the bearded axe in a flat circle. On the first pass, the weapon slammed into the legs of the knights, on the second pass it ripped through their rib cages and on the final pass it neatly decapitated all four of them before they exploded in a shower of pixels.

+1 Energy, out of combat

Moving about the area where he had so recently dispatched another quartet of emerald cloaked undead knights, Mack examined everything. The interesting thing was that, this time, the game engine had dropped four separate loot bags instead of one large loot back. Mack shrugged his broad shoulders and picked up each of the bags one at a time before adding them to his inventory. More crafting materials, and more col, one could never have too much of either of those resources. Sheathing Invictus, for the moment, at his back, mack laced his fingers together and cracked all his knuckles before checking his energy bar. Definitely time to take another short break, though he knew eventually he'd get to the point where he would have enough energy to not have to rest so often between engagements.

+1 Energy, out of combat

Having cracked his knuckles, Mack began to wander around the grand ballroom in which he found himself. Slowly, the massive man worked his way around the room's perimeter, searching for any potential hidden rooms or openings that might lead to greater treasure within the confines of the room. Finding nothing along the walls of the room the ginger featured man began to slowly spiral inwards into the room, searching all the while for what he was increasingly coming to suspect was not going to be present. Reaching the middle of the room, where he had defeated the knights a few moments previously, Mack unsheathed Invictus from his back and tapped on the floor of the room a few times to see if anything happened.

Mack growled and struck the floor of the ballroom a few more times with the haft of his axe. Why was there no hidden room in here? There had to be a hidden room somewhere in this castle. It was a castle. Castles always had hidden rooms. Growling a bit louder, Mack flipped the floor the bird and threw his hefty bearded axe over one shoulder. There was still more castle to explore and, if nothing else, more col and mats to be gained in loot. Dark eyes narrowed angrily, the red-headed giant stalked off in search of more undead knights in distinctive green cloaks to eliminate. Mobs and the hidden room that had to be around here somewhere.

Making his way out of the ballroom through the heavy stone doors directly opposite of the ones that he had entered by, Mack immediately found himself in some kind of entry hallway or corridor. High vaulted ceilings. Stone carved chandeliers. An overhanging balcony with four green cloaked undead warriors. Naturally, the undead immediately spotted the crimson hooded axe man. There was a sharp clatter of armor and weapons as the group of undead knights headed for the staircase that ran along the north wall of the gallery so they could get down to the level where the enormous axe man was and attack him.

Seeing what the green cloaked figures had in mind, Mack smirked from beneath his white trimmed crimson hood. Drawing the hood back to reveal his matching features, the axe man raised Invictus and charged across the room in the direction of the only staircase that came down from the gallery where the knights were stationed. Mack reached his destination just as the knights got to the bottom of the stairs and, from there, Invictus made short work of the small squadron of the undead. The broad steel head of the axe flashed in the candle light as, one by one, the enemies were vanquished in a shower of pixels.

+1 ENG out of combat

With yet another group of bad guys having been dispatched, Mack began to check out the newest room in which he found himself. The ceiling was every bit as high and impressive as the ceiling in the ballroom had been, though this entryway was considerably smaller in terms of space and narrower in terms of overall dimensions. A double row of granite columns went down the middle of the room. Starting at the pair of columns that were nearest to the doors that led back into the ballroom from whence Mack had come, the ginger mountain began moving from column to column, tapping on them with his weapon to see if any of them might reveal some hidden treasures.

As Mack continued making his way around each of the stone pillars in the entry hallway, he would occasionally tap at them. He couldn't safely go anywhere just yet anyway since he had to wait for his energy to recharge. So, looking for bonus loot seemed to be the obvious thing to do in the meantime. After several minutes of searching, he finally tapped on the right spot on one of the columns. A small stone panel slid open and Mack peered inside to find that there was a crafting material waiting right there for him to simply reach in and take. Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, Mack promptly snatched up the material and added it to his stores.

After winding his way in and out among the rest of the stone pillars and finding nothing else that was worth his time and effort Mack stopped and considered his options for a moment. Making up his mind, he tapped the air in front of him and scrolled through his inventory. With his mitigation rating being what it was, he wasn't worried about any of the damage that the mobs on this floor could really do to him. Therefore, the wiser course of action was to change out his gear for a bit to increase his ability to be able to hit targets. Hopefully that would make harvesting loot and experience from the floor that much easier.

Moving to the staircase where he had, so recently, dispatched the most recent group of green cloaked Knights, Mack ascended the stairs. From there, it was only a matter of time until he started looking through the doors. Naturally, the first door would be the guard barracks with another four undead knights inside. Truly, good things came in fours. With Invictus clutched tightly in his hands, Mack charged into the room. Once again he lashed out with the Explode Catapult sword art and, once again, four green cloaked undead knights were reduced to a shower of blue and white pixels under the furious onslaught.

With the knights dispatched, yet again, Mack began to pick his way through the barracks room. Four beds. Four trunks. Probably nothing good in any of the stuff. But, until you broke it open you never knew if they had delicious caramel goodies inside of them or not. Raising Invictus, Mack buried the blade of the axe into the nearest chest and pried it open. Nothing. Shrugging, he moved on to the second chest and repeated the same action with, predictably, the same result. Unless you were killing things the game engine was ridiculously stingy with the dropping of crafting materials.

Growling in frustration, the ginger headed blacksmith that also served as the third in command of the Knights of the Blood Oath and the leader of the Crimson Blades, moved on to the third chest. Raising Invictus over his head he tomahawked the head of the bearded two-handed axe into the top of the chest, splintering it so severely that the entire chest simply dissolved into pixels. Well, that was certainly one way to make sure that a given attempt to search a chest failed. Stepping back from the spot where the chest had so recently stood, the red-headed man flipped the chest of drawers the bird.

Moving to the final of the four chests in the room, Mack toed it curiously with his foot. There was the sound of something rattling around inside. A good sign if ever there was one. Wedging the broad head of Invictus into the gap between where the top of the chest met the rest of the box that held all of the goodies, Mack sliced through the lock and popped the lid open. There, inside of the chest, was a bright and shiny hunk of metallic ore. A crafting material. Quick enough the red-headed man scooped up the hunk of ore and added it to his inventory. One more crafting material never hurt anyone, after all.

Moving out of the barracks, Mack began making his way along the upper floor of the gallery once again. He tried several more doors, finding each of the rooms beyond those doors to be empty except for general stuff that was only really meant to serve the purpose of making the rooms prettier and less cookie cutter. Sighing, Mack tried the next door and found that this one was locked. "Locked," he muttered to himself. Well, there was one way to fix that. Taking a few steps back, he proceeded to slam the blade of Invictus into the door, watching as it dissolved in a shower of pixels. Immediately, an undead knight spawned in the room accompanied by one at either end of the gallery and one in the room Mack had checked just seconds earlier. For the moment, all were out of range.
