Takao lowered himself down a small cliff and slid to the bottom on his never-ending quest to map out portions of the fourteenth floor. His jade eyes lingered on the landscape in front of him. It spanned on in the direction he observed for what seemed like hundreds of miles, the absence of landmarks in the distance making judging an exact number near impossible. He turned and looked to the hill he'd descended down, noticing a collection of out of place vines. With a tilted head, Takao proceeded past the vines.

"Huh." Takao huffed out a breath as he glanced around. The area behind the vines became illuminated by self-lighting torches as soon as he'd stepped foot in the dungeon. "Guess this must be one of those sub-dungeon things. Couldn't hurt to take a look." Despite the low tone to his voice, the cave still carried an echo for quite some time, until it finally died down in the distance. Takao reached over his shoulder and pulled the blade free of the scabbard, ready to engage whatever might be thrown his way.

"Ah... More of you guys." Takao said aloud as he laid eyes upon the four shambling skeletons, identical to the ones he'd been fighting outside. "I guess I found where you were coming from, at least. Maybe if I beat up your boss, you'll stop buggin' me every time I walk around in this hellhole." He said, chuckling inwardly at the thought. Takao poised his blade and prepared a sword art, cleaving through all four weak monsters with precision, landing a single strike upon each.

"Man... You lot really don't know when to stay down, do you?" He mumbled to himself. Yet another four had appeared where the previous had fallen, replacing them with perfect replicas in both quantity and quality. Regardless of their statistics, Takao still attacked with the same ferocity as he had previously. Charge was used to augment damage, and a carefully selected sword art was used to annihilate their health gauges into nothingness.  "Four more down."

The last of the horde that rose from the waterlogged soil were four skeletal knights, armed in the same rusted equipment and tattered clothing that its previous brethren had fallen in. Despite their apparent buff in strength, the four would be no different. Takao prepared a sword art more typically used when grinding, but had found himself using seldom on the fourteenth floor thus far. The brunet unleashed the art upon the monsters and drained their health gauges with ease, leaving him alone in the dank cave he'd located.

Takao momentarily unequipped his armour once more and replaced it with the item finding unique he'd borrowed from a certain blonde front liner. "I wonder how long I can milk this thing now that the parry thing got fixed." Takao mused aloud, rubbing the length of his jaw as he walked. The cave had grown quiet the further he walked, which while slightly unsettling was a welcome change from the onslaught of skeletal beasts he'd been combating for most of the day.

"Lots of metal on this floor." Takao idly commented as he tore a chunk of ore from the cave wall. The mud had long since transitioned into solid stone, which gave him the opportunity to allow the mud to fade from his clothing automatically, per the system's rendering limitations. Technology had come a far way since the introduction of the NerveGear, yet there were still some obvious things it couldn't do perfectly, and simulating viscous liquids was difficult enough.

The narrow pathways that Takao had been proceeding down lead to a large door. The wood was rotted and waterlogged, the metal was rusted and fractured, and the hinges that held it seemed ready to collapse at the first hint of movement. Given the nature of the cave and the complete absence of anything like the door, Takao arrived at the conclusion that the boss lay in wait just ahead. He went about unequipping the Hands of Midas and equipped his armour in its place, readying himself for battle.

Before entering the supposed lair of the sub-dungeon boss, Takao did a quick check on his equipment. His sword was fine, the durability was more than enough for the battle and if it did happen to break, he had more at the ready. His armour was in decent repair as well, having only sustained minor damage thus far on the excursion. The trinket was fine, it hardly ever sustained any sort of harm. The buffs he had active from leaving Stonewall were active with plenty of time remaining, which meant he was all set for a battle.

Takao lifted his left hand and rested it on the surface of the door. The wood was damp, as he'd expected it to be, and seemed ready to crumble beneath the pressure he exerted to push it up. The hinges creaked and moaned as they moved, heavy door grinding against the cave floor as it slid open. Takao slipped through the opening and was immediately met with the sight of a much larger and somehow beefier looking skeleton, clad in tattered green cloth and lacking any semblances of armour. Just as he entered, the monster became aware of his presence. In one swift motion, the beast hefted its large sword up and turned, throwing the blade at the door. Just before it collided with his head, Takao sank down the door and let the sword impale the waterlogged wood. "Hah. Missed." He taunted whilst preparing for his own attack. The large skeleton charged at him, and whether its intention was to strike him down or retrieve its sword was unclear. Takao readied his own attack and struck the monster when it was within range; eleven glowing red wounds marked its bone an instant later.

"That was a pretty boneheaded move, don't you think?" Takao said, spending his time frozen in place laughing at his own terrible joke. He could tell just from the single hit-- or rather, the eleven hits-- that the wounded beast before him had plenty of health, and little mitigation. Or perhaps he had plenty of mitigation and little health. It was always hard to tell with his only point of reference being the movements of a coloured bar. The monster seemed to ignore him and his humour, as he'd expected it to, and went to retrieve its sword. Just as it did, Takao's movements returned to him. He prepared the same sword art again, and unleashed it unto the Skeletal Champion's back whilst it struggled to free the lodged sword.

"Ah, come on!" Takao said as he ducked underneath the monster's sword, which had just been freed and subsequently swung at him. "That was pretty humerus, don't you think?" His laughing echoed throughout the cave as the evaded the monster's violent swings with a certain practiced grace. He'd been in this sort of situation before, fighting a powerful monsters on his lonesome. Of course he didn't have Darkness Blade to aid him in shredding through the monster's nonexistent armour, yet something was telling him he didn't quite need it either. Another eleven hits found their way into the bones of the monster, reducing the single health bar it wore down into the threshold of red.

"Don't worry," Takao said as he thrust his sword through the monster's exposed skull. The last of his eleven hit combination, and the last combination he'd be using on the monster, had decimated its health bar. There was no colour residing within it any longer, only emptiness. "It's all going tibia okay." He chuckled inwardly to himself as he pulled the blade free. The instant the tip left the monster's skull, it burst into colourful confetti-like polygons and fluttered away into nothingness. "Well. That wasn't so bad."
