Takao 0 Posted March 21, 2016 #1 Report Share Posted March 21, 2016 Takao stumbled through the warp gate platform of the eighth floor as he hopped on one leg, desperately shaking off the mud that had accumulated on his equipment from the fourteenth floor. The eighth was more pleasant, even if the humidity of the jungle themed section of Aincrad offered very little in the way of comfort. He was still surrounded by moisture, but of a different sort this time around. Over time, the mud that coated his boots and pant legs began to disappear into nothingness; slowly fading away as the NerveGear prioritized what it needed to render. A sigh escaped his lungs and he glanced around the colourful floor, happy to be seeing something other than grey and brown. Takao commented, more so for himself than to strike up conversation with the dragon on his shoulders. It was different. The colour was a welcome change, yet the environment wasn't much of an improvement. But comfort wasn't something that the wildernesses of Aincrad specialized in. They specialized in hellscapes, filled to the brim to deadly monsters that had no problem thinking twice about rendering a player limb from limb. Takao and his familiar proceeded out of the eighth floor's settlement and delved into the jungle, almost immediately encountering a small grouping of large slimes. Even so, it was more col in his wallet, more materials in his pocket, and more experience under his belt. He couldn't complain even if he wanted-- this was exactly what he was doing this for. Takao raised his blade, poised it in just the right way, and launched forward. He was used to monsters spawning in either groups of one or four, anything in between seemed unusual and, if he were to be frank, downright inefficient. Only a select few sword arts could be used to attack multiple enemies no matter the user's martial ability. Takao had tried and failed to do so in the past, the system was solid in that regard. Two enemies meant he would have to exert energy to fight one of them at a time, or a bulk of his stamina to get them both in one fell swoop. The former would likely be a more efficient use of his time and energy, yet Takao was more interested in wiping them out quickly. He select a sword art, prepared the necessary pre-motion stance, and unleashed it unto the piles of unsuspecting slime. Four of them impeded his path, preventing him from progressing further into the eighth floor. The monsters weren't particularly common for the floor, or at least he didn't think them to be. He assumed more jungle themed monsters would populate the similarly jungle themed floor, and yet here he was, fighting gigantic piles of gelatin. "It's a good thing you guys aren't like the Gelatinous Cube. Now that'd be something terrifying." The metal flexed and bounced as it made contact with the soft fabric of his clothing. The brunet dropped his sword into the scabbard and pulled the baldric from his shoulders. He slumped down onto the ground, taking a long, easy breath in before laying supine in the grass. Despite being nothing than an elaborate animation made to simulate the real thing, Takao couldn't help but feel a bit envious of their freedom. They had nothing more to do in their lives than exist, while players like himself weren't afforded such a luxury. It was interesting for such a large group of people to have such a centralized focus. They were all fighting the same common enemy, and even if there were some anomalies in the herd that might've sought to hinder their progress, they were still moving ever forward. The monsters, although well above average statistics for their respective tier of Aincrad, were still easily obliterated by the brown haired, green eyed hunter. Four more had fallen in the seconds that passed, slain by the Inundator in one fell swoop-- or rather, three well placed hits between the four of them. How he managed to do so, he wasn't quite sure himself. But one thing was for certain. He examined the item as the stem and roots disappeared, their durability having been reduced from the simple action. A small window appeared following some skillful menu navigation, and gave small tidbits of information on the flower. He took a step forward and prepared his sword art. Then he took another and swung once, cleaving the closest cube in twain with the single blow. Quiet mutterings to himself oft helped clear the clouded thoughts that polluted his mind, threatening to distract him from whatever task was at hand. In this case, it was resting. "Would make grinding a whole lot easier. I wouldn't run out of energy as quickly either." Following his short, almost maniacal bout on the eleventh floor less than a week prior, the brunet had found himself stripped of the parry skill when the skill allocation costs changed. He pulled the weapon free of its wooden and leather holding, the quiet rasp of the edge sliding against the scabbard's innards bringing a small smile to the corner of his mouth. "More meat for the grinder," He said, chuckling to himself. "Or... more slime for the grinder, I guess." A shrug flexed his shoulders just before he launched into an attack, dicing through the monsters with practiced grace and ease. By the time they turned to face him-- assuming they had faces to face him with-- Takao had already launched into the sword art. It was covered with vines, much like the dungeon he'd located on the fourteenth floor, yet considerably less conspicuous in the context of a jungle theme. "Let's get to work on clearin' this thing.
