[PP-F5] Desert dwellers (Hydra)

Allania had sent a message to Hydra earlier that day reading: 

'Do you want to go and gather materials again together? If so meet me on the fifth floor, it's nice and sunny up here'

Allania now sat just inside the gate of the Town on the fifth floor, just off to the side so that people pass by and get into the desert. It was quite quiet in this Town, not a lot of adventurers seemed to frequent this place. But it meant it was nice and peaceful. It also meant that there would be little competition when it came to hunting the mobs. With that in mind, Allania lent back against the wall, looking up at the bright blue sky. It was a hot day today, hotter than the first floor ever was. But it was a good day to go hunting, good visibility.

"So hot..." Hydra dragged his feet through the deserts of floor 5 to the meeting point he had agreed to meet Allania in. This was his first time adventuring out into floor 5 and it was the most barren floor yet. "Water..." After what several hours of walking the spearman reached the gate of the town he was supposed to be meeting Allania at only to see she was there. "Ah sorry, I got lost in one of the deserts..." The spearman slumped down in the sand and took a drink out from his inventory. After several minutes of regaining his breath he looked at the dagger user. "Okay im ready, where should we head to next?"

Seeing Hydra walk towards her Allania raised her hand and waved calling out "Hey there". Waiting as he arrived and slumped in the sands moaning for water, it reminded Allania of her first time here, it may have been just a couple of days ago, but she seemed to have acclimatized slightly to the environment here. Allania was patient while he drank from his waterskin and caught his breath. "So, shall we head on off into the desert then, to go and meet some new monsters to hunt?" Allania asked while a smile once again spread across her face.

Hydra nodded before smiling himself. "Here check this out, I go it off a blacksmith called Mack." Hydra withdrew the weapon of his back and showed it to Allania. A brand new spear called lightning strike. he burnished bronze tip reflected the golden color of the sand as the pair began walking. Compared to his old spear this one was slightly bigger, but still easy to handle in his left hand. The brunette looked towards Allania pondering what hand she favored in battle, it wasn't clearly on inspection so he made a menal note to check later.

"oohh" she said, gazing at the weapon, "that's a fancy spear. And Mack? I was going to take him up on the offer but changed my mind as I acquired the weapon I use now" she said as she took it from the sheath, "it's just a basic dagger, but helps me to deal extra damage". Once that had been said Allania led the way out of the Town, heading back into the desert. As she reached the top of a nearby dunes Allania started to scan the horizon for any potential monsters that they could fight.

Hydra lagged behind of course, he was dreary and half awake most the time but being stuck in this heat was really bothersome. He hated the sun, or rather the heat, both in Aincrad and out. Allania was smaller and had far more stamina than him leading the way up the dunes. The spearman had made sure he had stocked up on enough water before they headed out. "See anything!" He shouted up with a rasp voice parched of thirst. Waiting for a response he slumped down at the bottom of the dune to regain some energy that he had expended walking.

Hearing the question called down from below, the wind carrying it upwards, Allania began to search the horizon for a group of enemies. Spotting a small group of scorpions, just 4 in size, Allania called out to Hydra "Aye, I see a group, not that far from here. Four scorpions. Though they look quite tough, so you should let me tank their hits. I'm not sure your armour will be able to handle it". With that, Allania slid down the sand, it spraying from her sides as she went. Coming to a halt by Hydra "Does that sound good to you?".

Hydra nodded, he had trained in the forests of floor 1 when fighting boars and other lower level mobs as well as alongside Nix and Xion two tanks when taking down a large wasp. This case wasn't much different. His skills allowed him to evade hits whilst dealing heavy blows from behind the cover of friends and other players. "Alright sounds good..." The spearman took a few more breaths before euipping his spear and going about's the usual routine. He gave a half smile to Allania and waited for her to engage the creatures in combat.

Allania ran ahead of Hydra, making sure she was the one that the creatures saw first. Getting close to them Allania started to spin around, her dagger on the end of her outstretched arm cutting into all four of the Scorpions, easily taking their attention. All four scorpions tried as once to leap at Allania, their spear-like barbs shooting forward trying to pierce the girl in the Boarhide Bodice. Luckily for her, they were unable to land a single hit upon her, as she continued to spin out of the way.

Hydra smiled as he watched Allania run ahead and swivel with her dagger in hand. Glancing down at his spear he said to himself "Alright time to see what you can do." The spearman rushed out at this point, using his standard tactic of hit and retreat. A huge surge of hope rushed through his body and he begun to wildly swing his spear above his head. In a flash the spearman had run through all the enemies "1, 2, 3, 4" rotating his spear around his body at incredible speeds it looked as though he were dancing on the hot sand. Hydra broke through and stopped, finally finish his movement by stabbing the spear into the ground and kneeling down. There was a brief moment as the sound of several hp bars could be heard depleting and all four mobs then shattered into digital crystals. Hydra looked upto the bright blue sky and smiled and then collapsed onto the floor.

Seeing the player dance through them, his spear but a blur in his hands, Allania could not help but be impressed. He had definitely improved since she had last fought alongside him. Rushing through the floating pixels, Allania slid in the sand to his side, "Are you okay?" she asked, worried as she had never seen someone collapse after doing an attack. She looked down at his panting form and took water out of her inventory, offering it to him with a smile. Hopefully he'll be okay, that was spectacular, she thought, it had been a wonderful dance to watch.

Hydra lifted his thumb, he was still to out of breath to speak. Raising his hand the spearman accepted to the water skin and quickly drank from it. After several gulps, he finally felt himself begin to stabilize "Thanks for that, I needed it." The Brunette had suprised himself, he felt as though the spear was controlling him and not him the spear with the manuveur he had just completed. Sitting up he said "You did some good damage youself." Slowly staggering to his feet the player was soon ready to move on, "Alright where to next..." Glancing ahead all he could see was desert. He had heard a few tales of dungeons being found on this floor but the area looked scarce.

Hearing him say 'You did some good damage youself. ' Allania could not help but laugh. "I did but a scratch to the creatures, and then you came along, showing me up and smashing holes into them with that shiny new spear of yours. And I think before we move on that you should rest for a moment longer, you have still barely caught your breath" she said, pushing him back into a sitting position. "You just stay there while I go find another group for us to fight, potentially one that's slightly larger, seeing how much damage you can dish" she said with a smile, before scurrying back up the dunes which moments ago she had slid down to tell Hydra about the group of creatures they had just fought.

Hydra watched as Allaria ran back up the hill, "A larger group..." He lightly sighed at the girl's enthusiasm. At the rate she was going it would not be long before she would overtake him in level. The thought didn't bother Hydra that much, to him a level was not a power status but a symbol that marked one's courage and determination. He looked up as he rested, waiting for Allania to return and pondered about all the frontliners, he wondered to himself why they were fighting. For themselves? For another? For the thrill? Hydra pondered why he was fighting himself, it's true that he wished to help others but truthfully he was scared behind his smile.

Spotting a group a short distance off, this one was significantly larger. Twice the size of their previous group. Allania let out a quiet squeak of excitement. This could be a risky battle, but it would surely be a fun one. Calling down to Hydra "HEY! COME ON UP HERE, I SEE THE NEXT GROUP" at the top of her lungs. For this fight they'd have to cross this dune to the next, and the easiest way was just going straight over. So Allania sat down atop the dune and waited for the Spearman to arrive.

Hearing Allania's voice and feeling refreshed the spearman got back to his feet and approached the dagger user. As he reached the top of the brow he looked towards the area Allania had identified. A few sandstorms had mustered so it was a little hard to make out but it was clearly a larger sized group than the one from before. "After you..." The spearman jokingly bowed and gestured his hand towards the monsters. Before picking up his own spear and readying to prepare for his next attack. Hopefully this battle would be over as quickly as the last. (all energy restored)

Allania waited for Hydra to arrive, then returned his bow with a curtsy then slid on down the dune, right into the midst of the foes. Sliding down the dunes, sand sprayed on either side of the girl, making her presence abundantly clear as she laughed on her way down the slope. As she slid the scorpions barbed tails lashed out towards her, missing her by just a fraction of an inch as she slid through them. Standing up, brushing the sand off of her, Allania launched herself at the nearest group of four, her blade spiraling around her in a circle, hitting nothing but air.

Hydra having just used his <<Tirbal Fury>> couldn't help but attempt it again. Lifting his left arm about his head he once again began to wildly spin his spear cutting through half of the group as he did so. After the massacre he turned his head, he couldn't collapse now the half of the MOBs remained. The spearman paced back a few steps, he could feel the pain developing in his chest and coughed. The rest was up to Allania now, all he could do was dodge and dive.

Allania stood there. The plan had not worked. All the scorpions left turned on Hydra and attacked. All of them piercing him with their barbed stinger. Every. Single. One. They all sunk deep into the spearman. Allania was frozen, it was not meant to go like this. No! They were meant to go for her. With that, Allania ran for her friend, tackling him out of further harms way but when she looked at him he seemed to be fine, completely uninjured. Sighing a deep breath of relief, realising that he must have dodged the blow, Allania stood up, turning to the monsters and lashed out at them, her dagger once again hitting nothing but air.

Hydra realized the precarious situation the two were in. He was now the target to all the angry creatures which was not ideal. Hydra already worn out looked to Allania "Im going to try and retreat for now." See if you can divert there attention onto you. The spearman although worried managed to pull a smile off. "Thanks for charging in by the way." Having said that he began to stumble away from the battle, hoping his pursuers would fail to reach him to make another attack.
