[SP-F5] Going sunbathing pt II

Allania was back in the desert again. By now she had grown accustomed to the heat. It was a refreshing change compared to the mild temperatures of the first floor where she used to frequent. On this floor the ground may shift beneath your feet, mobs may rise out from below, like they're breaking free from hell itself just to say hi, but it was nice. It was the floor that she now frequented whenever she wanted to go gathering, hunt monster, anything really.

With that, Allania set out into the desert, her hand covering her face, protecting her eyes from the blazing sun. The Sun which hung high in the empty azure sky, raking the ground with its blistering rays, causing the ground itself seem hostile itself.

Out of the hostile sand beneath her came four giant Toads, coated in the blistering grit. Before she could react they lashed out at herself, all of them striking her with their tongues. The blow was so hard that it went straight through her thorns. Being knocked back, Allania fell to one knee. Unsheathing her dagger Allania launched at the beasts infront of her, her dagger blade slicing through their soft flesh.

Allania turned on her heels, launching back at the creatures only to fall on her face as the sand shifted beneath her feet. As she fell the Toads lashed out at where she had once stood, missing her by a fraction. Placing her hands firmly on the sand, Allania hoisted herself back to her feet, opening her mouth to let that sand fall out of it. That had not been her finest moment.

Allania stood there, waiting for them to hit her. But for some strange reason they kept on missing, as if they were trying to hit where they thought she would be and not expecting her to stop moving. Sighing, it seemed like they wouldn't land a strike this time, she thought. And it seems neither will I, she thought, she dagger piercing nothing but the air as she lunged for another one of the creatures.

Allania walked among them, once again barely moving. And again, they just couldn't seem to hit her. What was it that made these creatures unable to touch her? Shrugging away the oddity, Allania stopped within the circle of them and - as if in slow motion - brought her dagger up and began to spin, once again slashing each on of the Toads deeply. It seemed like they would not last another blow, Allania perceived.

Allania tried to replicate what she had just done, moving slowly and bringing up her dagger to dance with it once again. However this time, the Toads seemed to have caught on, striking at Allania before she could hit any of them with her blade. But just like with all those creatures when she was with Hydra, the creatures just exploded on her armour. Picking up the materials and col that they dropped Allania moved on.

Before Allania could get any sort of distance, more Toads launched out of the ground around her. They were much like the previous four, roughly the same size and strength. Sighing, Allania knew this was going to be a long day. Taking her dagger in hand she rushed towards them, swinging it round in a large circle, though missing them all with her cut. As she spun it seemed that these Toads were unable to predict her movement and thus were unable to strike her.

Allania had no time to waste. Never stopping her dance, she continued to spin, her dagger tracing the same circle she had cut just moments before. This time however the dagger hit it's mark, and spectacularly so, leaving a deep red garish gash on each of the Toad, a testament to her strike. Though once again they missed. This would pass so much faster if only they landed a hit, she thought.

This fight could not be called a fight. It was just a slaughter. Once again spinning, her dagger slicing the air with the same ferocity as her previous pirouette Allania cut through the swath of creatures around her. Each and every one exploded into shards in the air around her. Allania went and picked up the materials, brushing away some of the red pixelated fragments that hung in the air and continued on her way. Maybe she'd have peace for a short while.

What did I expect? Allania thought as the next wave of creatures rose from the sands around her. Scorpions this time? At least it's a bit of variety, she admitted to herself. Taking her dagger in hand, Allania launched herself at the nearest scorpion, hoping to wedge her dagger between the chinks in its carapace. Her dagger though simply deflected off the armoured plates of its shell. Rolling to one side, Allania managed to avoid the barbs aimed for her heart.

Allania launched herself forward once again. She was running low on energy so if this strike hit or miss she'd have to weather a few blows before she could do a thing against them again. Allania's dagger flung round in the circular arc that she was oh so familiar with now. Cutting deep into each scorpion. But she was out of energy now, and could not attack. With that thought in mind, Allania hopped back, just dodging the blows of the creatures around her.

 Allania did her best to dodge the barbs and claws of the Scorpions. Each one was attacking unrelentlessly, no chance for a breather. So Allania continued the waiting game, biding her time until she had enough energy to once again strike out at the creatures. Once this battle is over I will surely need a break to recover my energy, if not my health, she thought. She had not had a chance to recover since she had begun fighting this day.

Seeing her energy gauge tick up once more, Allania launched herself back into her deadly dance. Her dagger singing as it cut through air a carapace alike. It seemed like there was no effort to it anymore. She had landed blow after blow on the creatures today, only once had they even managed to strike her. These battles have been dull, Allania thought, not an ounce of risk, I'll recover almost instantly once I've fought as they've done so little damage. Though she was once again out of energy and now had to wait once again.

Finally, she thought, they've actually managed to land a hit and not explode at the same time. "Well done to you good sir," she said, doing an extravagant mock bow towards the first scorpion who hit her first. Giving all the other scorpions more than ample time to land their own blow on the bowing girl. Even though they had managed to land a blow it was nothing to her. Her armour protected her fully from such a strike, all but the smallest amount of damage actually got through. Oh well, at least it's a start, she thought.

Noting once again that her energy had sufficiently regenerated to the point where she could strike them once again, Allania stood up, ending her bow. Launching herself forward, repeating the exact same blade dance she had performed but a short while ago. This time though the scorpions did not just stand there to get hit, they back away why shooting their barbed tail forward. Both avoiding getting hit but also missing, their barbed tails falling short of their target.

Panting now, Allania stood there, remembering that the thorns on her armour were a thing. Just standing and waiting Allania wnted the scorpions to strike, hoping that they explode themselves on her armour. After a moments hesitation the scorpions moved forward readying their barbed tails. Sending their tails screaming towards her, they lightly scratched the girl, but her armour scraped deep gashes into their tails, reducing their health to zero. Allania stood there, panting as the red fragments that used to be the scorpions hung in the air around her. Time for a break, she decided.

Allania slumped to the ground, it had been a tiring fight. Not a single moment of rest inbetween fighting those 12 monsters. 12?!, Allania realising just how many creature she had slain in a row, with them taking less than half her health. Allania was kind of impressed with herself, but she definitely needed a break now. Allania lay down from her slumped position, extending her body so that she could breath easier. It had not been long ago since she almost died on her first day, when Hydra had brought all those charging towards her and Alakir all at once. Speaking of Alakir, Allania began to wonder what actually happened to him. Is he still alive?

She had not heard from the player since she had last seen him. Opening her menu, Allania scrolled down to her friendlist, not even finding the name. Allania began to panic for a moment, sitting bolt upright. Was he dead? she fretted. It was a sad but very real possibility in this world. Lying back down Allania began to mull it over once again, doubt entering her mind. Did we ever add each other to our friendlists, she pondered. This thought brought her a ray of hope. Maybe he was not dead afterall. Letting out a sigh of relief Allania looked back up at the empty sky above.

Feeling her energy recover, Allania picked herself up off the ground. Brushing the thin layer of sand that had formed upon her while she had been lying there. It was time to do something productive once again. Wandering about Allania began to search, for materials, monsters, dungeons even. Whatever. Allania just searched. While searching Allania spotted something glinting in the sand a short distance off. Walking over to it Allania recognised it as a material that could be of use. Crouching down, Allania picked it up, blowing off the sand that had gathered, then added it to her inventory.

Allania continued to search in the small area she had found the first material. Burrowing in the sand Allania was unable to find anything. She had however managed to recover all her health. So Allania sat down on the sand and began to ponder what to do. Should I call it a day here? she thought, not wanting to have to go through another montage of monster like she did a short while ago. Deciding that heading back was the best option, Allania stopped searching for materials.
