This day seemed slightly darker. More sand hung in the air, the Sun less brilliant. Something seemed slightly off. It was of little consequence. A milder desert would be happily welcomed by this not so weathered adventurer. It felt like she had gone into the desert and uncountable number of times, but in actuality the number could probably be counted on fingers alone. Allania took in a deep breath, taking in a lungful of the salty air. Let's go, she thought. It was time to once again gather materials. There was never a time that she did not need more, and now was unlike any other. If she wanted to continue crafting and providing the newcomers with their first set of armour. Allania walked further out into the desert, clambering up a dune to sit atop its crest. Leaning against a skeleton of a tree, its bark dried and peeled, leaving the bleached wood underneath, Allania looked out over the desert to find her first fight. It was the size she normally faced, so there would be little risk. Scratching the ears of Blaze, her familiar, Allania got up and set off. Nearing the enemy, Allania was crouched initially, but she could not hide her presence. When the Scorpions noticed her they attack, heading straight for her. Allania too charged straight for them. They clashed in the centre of where they had stood, Allania deftly deflecting the barbed tails of the beasts, before attaking herself, they too deflecting her dagger. Without a moment of respite Allania finally made a mistake, one scoprion caught her off guard, scraping her side. With her defence broken the other scorpions closed in too. Allania was unable to protect herself fully with her dagger in hand, taking multiple blows that were only marginally deflected. When the onslaught finally ended, Allania tried to leap forward but tripped over, her feet having sunk into the sand under the flurry of blows. Pivoting on the spot, Allania faced the Scorpions once again. Dashing forward, Allania began the circular dance once again, slicing into each scorpion that surrounded her. Try as they might, the scorpions were unable to land a blow on the pirouetting girl. Their barbs struck nothing but the sand upon which she had stood, their target having moved on to strike another Scoprion. This time however the Scorpions were prepared, having re-adjusted their aim, their tails struck true, scraping against Allania as they were launched forward. They would have been life ending blows, but Allania had her Boarhide bodice, that once again offered her the protection she needed to survive. However, this time she was unable to do so, as while she pivoted the Scorpions lashed out with their tails, causing her to stop on the spot and defend herself. Her dagger raised in front of her face, Allania tried to fend off the assault of tails but to no avail, she could not protect herself from their piercing blows. Each one landed a hit on her. Having spent the time trying to protect herself, Allania's attempted attack had lost its momentum, and thus did not land. Taking this opportunity, the Scorpions rushed towards her, pincers and tails a blur as they struck her. Allania just stood there within the flurry, her armour protecting her. Part way through the flurry, her thorns activated, scraping the next tail to strike her, its owner exploding into pixels, quickly followed by the next. Then the next. Until every one had exploded itself on her armour. Picking up the mats and col that were dropped, Allania walked away from the hanging pixels and sat down, taking a breather. While she was recovering, Blaze came over and nuzzled at her exposed leg with its cold snout. As the Boar nuzzled, Allania watched as her health gauge rocketed back up to full. "Thank you little buddy" she voiced, a warm smile on her face, scratching behind her little friends ear. As she scratched Blaze moved his head much like a cat does, positioning it so you're scratching in the perfect place. Lying down, her breath still recovering, Allania looked up at the sky. As soon as it was full, she would set off once again. There is no time to be relaxing, not with so much to be seen in the world. Above her there was a cloud, alone, solitary within the azure ocean of the sky, drifting from one horizon to the other, fluffy as one could be. Wait a moment. I cloud??? Allania thought, sitting bolt upright, A cloud in the desert? Maybe that's what felt off, what I couldn't place. There was a cloud. It was something so simple, yet to Allania it was spectacular. Not once had she seen a cloud in the skies above her on this floor, before now the sky had been as desolate as the land below it, if not more so. Once this tick had happened the bar slowly filled back up to full. Seems like I've been waiting long enough, she thought. Allania got up from where she had been sat, brushing the sand off from her body. Looking down at Blaze, Allania said "Time to go and find some new bad guys to fight, are you ready to go?". Watching as the little Boar bounced up and down on its tiny trotters, Allania laughed "I'll take that as a yes then". Taking her dagger from her sheath, Allania set off to try and find a group of enemies that she could fight in earnest. Heading towards them Allania attacked, her dagger spinning out and around at the creatures in front of her. Try though she might, her dagger cut through nothing but the air, the scoprions having retreated back a few paces before going back in on the assault. The assault of the scoprions managed to land a few blows on the girl, but they did little damage. When the blows came raining down upon her she was prepared. Allania attempted to dodge and deflect the blows, remaining upright so as to keep her centre as she did so. Having protected herself from the attack of the Scorpions it was her turn. Her dagger flew around her in a circle, but when the tip of the blade came to where the scorpions once were they were there no longer, having retreated backwards. Rushing towards the creatures who had retreated Allania spun around, her dagger whistling as it glided through the air. But once again that was all that it hit. Air. Nothing more, there was no crunch of carapace cracking, no resistance. Another miss. Sighing, Allania stopped her relentless assault, taking a short breather, but it did not go so well. The instant she stopped attacking the Scorpions took it upon themselves to return her the favour going on just as a relentless of an offensive as her, but they too struck nothing but air and sand. While walking back she got her legs caught on one another, losing focus she fell to the ground, giving the Scorpions ample time to continue their rain of chitin, striking her time after time, barely damaging her to their frustration, only taking much more damage as a result. Finally rolling away from the onslaught, Allania got to her feet and launched herself at the Scorpions in front of her, dagger once again singing as it cut nothing but air. All she had done was stand there, taking blow after blow from these scorpions, her armour carving grooves into their chitin carapace. They even seemed near to defeat, having not taken a single blow from her dagger! With slight frustration she leapt at them, her dagger carving a pattern in the air as well as their carapace, slicing them into millions of fragments. Her only hit had been the final one. It left a distaste in her mouth. Taking her materials and the dropped col she moved on. Searching in the sands nearby Allania was unable to find anything of use, causing her to move further afield. Spiraling out from where she had stood, searching systematically for anything. Blaze followed behind her dutifully, putting on an act to search for materials too, not quite knowing what he was doing but trying his best to copy Allania. It was a cute display, Allania stopping and watching the Boars snout to the ground, sniffling its way around. "Come on Blaze, let's keep moving" she called over her soldier as she wandered off, abandoning her systematic searching for the meandering random path that she normally pursued. Unsurprisingly as Allania weaved about the dunes she was unable to spot anything of use. Her spirits undampened Allania continued on. Never climbing a dune, simply walking along the troughs, tracing her path. As she wandered she spotted something not far off from where she stood. It seemed to glint slightly. Was it something she could use? Breaking her meander Allania headed straight for the item, crouching down and picking up the item. It seemed to be some mishapen scrap of metal, all bent a twisted into something unrecognisable. Regardless of what it may have once been there was no way to discern it. Even though she had got a material she was not about to stop, she needed materials for her store. You could never have enough. And thus Allania continued to meander through the desert, keeping an eye out for anything. Though just like before her find there was no hint of an item. Unrelentless, she continued to walk, leaving two sets of trails in her wake. One of a human. One of cloven hooves. Blaze and her walking side by side in the desert. Curious as to whether there was something there she headed towards it. Ducking down to get into the cave. It was a small entrance, she was not the tallest herself but she still had to bow her head slightly. When inside the cave she realised that is quickly tapered off into nothing but rock.
