Allania opened her eyes a crack, light was streaming now into the cave where she lay. For a moment she forgot where she was, but the memories came back to her quickly. She was out in the desert, searching for a sub-dungeon. Groggily shaking herself fully awake Allania felt the warmth of Blaze squirm against her torso. It was a comforting warmth, something that was nice to wake up to. Allania pushed herself to her feet, sleep still in her eyes. On her feet Allania stumbled towards the edge of cave, poking her head out into the open air. It was certainly day time outside, the Sun was high in the sky, well on its way to its peak. She had slept for a long time in that cave, slumbering for many an hour.

It was time to go out searching once again. She then stepped outside the cave, stopping for a moment to bask in the sunlight. It was a bright day and blisteringly hot. It was no hotter though than any other day. "Time to get to work" she said, stretching wide.

From where Allania stood she could see a group of Toads, they were huge but they would be no match for her. With her dagger in hand Allania set off at the creatures. When within range of them the Toads turned and launched an attack, their tongues lashing out, but they struck nothing but air, Allania having dashed from side to side to avoid the tongue blows. It was then Allania's turn, her dagger arcing out infront of her, however, just like the Toad's tongues she hit nothing but the air, missing her blow pitifully.

Pivoting on the spot, Allania launched herself at the Toads, her dagger hitting this time. She only managed to hit as the Toads had not the time to react, not expecting the girl to change directions that quickly. Her dagger sunk into their flesh, but it was not a deep wound, the thick hide of the toads offering much protection. With the surprise of being struck the Toads made a lousy attempt to hit Allania, their tongues lashing out aimlessly, strike the sand around her, some more than a meter away.

Allania smirked at their attack, it had been pitiful. However their attack had done one thing, it had made her overconfident. Allania leapt forward, disregarding whatever dangers they may pose and attacked, this time they were ready though, hopping backwards to avoid her tiny dagger before they went on their own offensive. Their offensive this time was concise, accurate, their tongues flying from their mouths as they slammed into Allania slight frame, knocking her to the side with a grunt. Her armour protected like it had done all the times before.

Allania sighed, launching forwards after the blow, but was once again struck, this time being sent flying. Allaia skidded across the sand, sending up a spray around her. Her attack attempt had failed miserably, the only plus side was that the thorns on her armour had taken effect, dealing a lot of damage to each one of them. Allanai slowly got back to her feet, dagger in hand and ready to attack once again. Hoping this time that she'd be able to hit.

Standing for a moment, Allania calmed herself. She was out of range of the Toads,  so she had a moments respite, they would have to move before they could land a blow. It seemed that the pause was all that she needed,  stepping forward Allania ran in a zigzagged path, moving erratically so that the Toads could not aim, their tongues striking the sands beside her. When within range her dagger whipped round, and she started to spin in a circle, slicing into each one of the Toads thick hides.

It seemed both parties were getting familiar to one another attacking pattern now. The Toads moving slowly as they may but still avoiding the dagger's blade. Just like them, Allania did not have to move quickly anymore to avoid their attack, moving just a fraction so that their blow would fall short or fall besides her. Whichever it was made little difference, as a miss was a miss after all. Blaze was just sat at the side of the battle, watching with interest as Allania and the Toads dueled one another. She may have been outnumbered but she had an unfair advantage over them.

Even if they had learnt her attack pattern it did not mean much to her. Allania just increased her speed, moving and darting about much faster than a moment ago, catching the Toads off guard as she once again sliced into their thick hides. With her speed she easily dodged the blows from the toads, it was not even a challenge at the speed she was moving,  the strikes not even coming close to landing. The Toads looked worse for wares now, another blow like that would end it.

Allania knew that she would not be able to maintain the pace she was at, her energy would soon be depleted. Making one last attempt Allania dashed forward, her dagger cutting into the Toads one more time. As she cut the Toads responded, swatting at her with their arms. All the blow hit, as she cut into them they bludgeoned her. It was her victory though, as once she finished her spin the Toads disappeared into fragments, blowing away on the wind.

Allania had not a moment of respite. As soon as her dagger had been lowered another set of Toads erupted from the sands around her. This was going to be a long day. Allania looked at her energy gauge. Completely out. She could barely do a basic attack she was so exhausted. It seems as though she'd have to bide her time, wait out the attacks until she could actually attack. So that's just what she did, she stood there, barely moving as the Toads circled around her and attacked, their tongues lashing out and scraping against her armour. They did barely any damage to her and her armour did much damage to them but what Allania was more satisfied with was that her energy gauge had ticked up once.

Allania watched as her energy gauge ticked up once more. It would not be long now until she could go after them and attack in return. But for now she had to work on avoiding their attacks, as she had some energy now she felt up to moving about, even if it was sluggishly. So Allania did just that, as the Toad's tongues began to launch towards her Allania lurched to the side, ducking under one of the tongues, dodging them all. They had not expected her to move after their last attack so were not aiming for a moving target.

Tick. Her energy gauge had filled up another unit, but it was still not enough. Not enough for her to dance with her dagger, thew dagger which would fly around her as she sliced into all the Toad's that surrounded her. Until then she just had to suffer the blows, the blows which rained down upon her, striking through her thorns. The thorns were not doing a lot in this world, failing most miserably at their role. But it was of little consequence, something that she would have to consider once this battle was over, yet she could not attack, her thorns were not doing anything and her health was slowly whittling its way down, these Toads would be unable to finish her however. Confident in her abilities Allania got ready to attack.

Tick. Another point of energy, this one however was enough, enough to finally attack. With a smile on her face Allania leaped towards the towards, spinning through the air as she danced her dance, her dagger whistling through the air as it cut into the Toad's slicing deep. It was not enough to end them but it was a solid blow, and solid progress in her fight. While she spun she could not avoid the blows of the Toad's who's tongues had lashed out towards her, they did hit but ended up being deflected by her armour, scraping against the thorns. Finally, she thought, happy that her thorns were finally doing their job.

Defeated. The toads were finished.  Allania stood there, looking around as the red pixelated fragments hung in the air, dancing in the breeze. It was a beautiful yet haunting sight. Beautiful in the way they danced, the way they hung there without a care, a breath taking marker of those that had just passed. That was just it though, why they were haunting, it was an indicator of death, be it player or mob alike, everything went out with the same glaring red shards, that hung there.

Allania stood there panting for a short while, her energy gauge was still nearly depleted. She could not let herself collapse just yet, she needed to regain at least a semblance of her composure. Slowly walking her way towards Blaze Allania stood next to him, catching her breath. Once her breath had been marginally regained she sat down besides him and began to idly stroke at his head, her fingers sliding across his soft fur.

While Allania was scratching at his ears, stroking at his fur, effecively making a big fuss of him Allania felt a cold circle against her skin. Looking down Allania saw as Blaze rubbed his cold, wet and little nose on her hand, nuzzling at it with vigour. While he nuzzled away relief began to stretch out from there, numbness replacing her pain. He was using his heal ability to recover her, to help her regain the health that she had lost. Allania sat there asnd watched as her health bar slowly filled bakck up to full.

Allania sat there and just continued to pet at Blaze, he seemed to be enjoying himself fully, reveling in the attention. Allania lay down on the ground, basking in the heat of the Sun that still hung itself high within the sky. It was not a lot, but she had a nice situation going for her in this world. She had a shop, she had a few people she could rely on, she had Blaze and she had her gear, the gear which had saved her more times now than she could count. She had been here a measly month compared to some peoples years, but she felt like she had been settling in well, adapting to the way the system worked. Thinking less and less of those that had been ripped out of her life when she entered this world.

Her energy had been full for a while but it was only now that Allania hoofed herself to her feet and made ready to head on off. Her health bar was full, Blaze having helped greatly in that "thank you little buddy" she said warmly, bending over to scratch at his ears before standing back up and stretching out. There was still a lot of light, the Sun still high above her head having on just pasted noon. Completing her stretch she looked down at Blaze and spoke "Come on, time to go again" before heading on off up the next dune. Off up to her next adventure, be it a fight, dungeon or materials. Who knows?

Cresting the dune Allania saw the desert span out around her, there were many a monster at play today. Rummaging in the sand for food, fighting for dominance. It was just the normal day in the desert, just with a tad more activity. Allania let out a great sigh, she was at full health and energy but she was not up to fighting yet. Having decided she was not going to go on a fight Allania began to scavenge about, searching for any and all materials that could be found in this desolate desert. Materials not gathered from slain enemies.

Allania finished her search for a material, quickly getting distracted by the prospect of finding yet another sub-dungeon, They were fun things to find, something unique. something new. Something no other player had yet set foot in, unexplored. It was something that she loved the idea of, to find places no one had seen yet, to visit every nook and cranny of this world. She knew that it was never going to happen in its entirety, even if she was her for another 10 lifetimes she would not exhaust what the world had to offer. It was a depressing thought, but one that made every discovery all that more precious.
