[PP-F2] "What is a Hero?" Saga - The Shadow of the Mountain - Part 1 (Flints, Endilix)

Recommended Posts

Raz wasn't especially appreciative of the fact that he had just been dumped, again, by Flints and Endilix, and left to do whatever. First they didn't want to let him go, then they didn't want him around. The two lovebirds needed to make up their mind. Raz felt like a teenager being stuck with his parents occasionally, and he hated every minute of it. And so, he had reached out to Endilix and told him that he wanted to meet him again on the second floor, explaining that he had information for them that might help them find out more about the thieves guild. Endilix had messaged that he'd meet him, and that was how things went. This was how Raz would pay his debt. He hoped that this would be sufficient to do so, though he figured that he would have to at least go through this adventure to ensure that he could get away clean.

Raz simply sighed as he waited for the two to show, standing out in the forests of the Second Floor.

As had been promised, Endilix told Flints of their next adventure and at dawn they went. Endilix hadn't gotten any sleep, and he hadn't really wanted to. Nor was he really all that tired. Razum-dar told them of a lead, a supposedly abandoned warehouse on this floor that housed thieves of the thieves guild. That was good enough for Endilix, as he made his way, presumably with Flints in tow. Endilix whistled a bit, surprisingly chipper despite recent events, and walked like a man determined as he made his way, until he saw Raz the thief standing in a small clearing in the forest, as his map designated. Endilix nodded, and walked up to Raz, giving a light bow, "Glad to see that I can actually trust you to be away for a night without running away entirely. I suppose some thieves do have honor."

Flints stretched out and gave a loud yawn to the world around her, sleepily rubbing her eyes yet trying her best to keep up with whistling Endilix. "I don't understand how you can: A, whistle. and B. be so chipper in the morning. aren't you tired? doesn't your body ache? of course not why am i asking you that. you're a morning person." Flints continued to whine and bicker until they reached an open area where Flints noticed a familiar tall, red-headed man. she peered curiously up at him before looking down and blushing. she quietly muttered "good morning Raz.." before going into yawning fits again and fluffing her hair. then it suddenly dawned on her. she never actually equipped her armor after following Endilix all the way to Razum-dar. she stared down blankly at her brown legs and toes and tried to figure out why she could see them while Endilix and Raz exchanged words.

Raz watched the two approach, immediately noting that Flints was not battle ready in the slightest. He addressed Endilix, giving him no more than a grunt at the honor comment, and looked back to Flints, taking in her unarmored form. Maybe Raz shouldn't be so mean. Raz can see why Endilix likes this one so much. Raz's eyes slowly drifted back up to Flints' as he said, "You should have at least come battle ready. Who knows what we could find in this warehouse. It's a den of thieves!" Raz flourished the end of that a bit, giving a bit of jazz hands as he shook his head, "But no, really. You should probably put on clothes. As much as Raz enjoys the view."

Endilix had hardly managed to contain his laughter at Flints' mumbling and grumbling along the way, but he hadn't honestly been paying all that much attention to the fact that the woman wasn't wearing her usual combat attire. Endilix turned as Raz began to speak and look over Flints, before cocking his head. As Raz talked about admiring the view, Endilix gave him a hard elbow and folded his arms, glaring at the man. "Trust me, even without the armor on she can still tear you to shreds, don't forget that." Endilix sighed and brought things back to the matter at hand, "Now, a warehouse, full of thieves? Now, I really hope you don't expect us to go in guns blazing, because I'm not up for becoming an orange player today. I would guess these are all actual players, right?"

Flints rubbed her eyes and looked up to Raz and Endilix again. She wondered why Razum-Dar was paying her so much attention. His words made her blush and pull on Endilix's shirt to cover up, along with tugging Antilion's tail to cover her butt as she became more red. But slowly she gave a smirk and stood tall. As if to flaunt herself as she hissed at them. "Hush both of you!" Flints quickly Equipped her usual combo of Amphibian hide and Hepheastus armor. She grinned as she felt the heavy claws rest on her back and gave a shiver "that hide is slippery and cold..." She shook her head and motioned to her frame. "There! Battle ready enough for you two? Shall we go and ambush these thieves?" She frowned when Endilix wanted to play it safe, and keep the thieves safe. She put her arms around both of the men's waists, not taking anything that was going on completely serious. She was still tired. She debated laying on the floor while they came up with a game plan. "I don't think Endilix is very sneaky...but I've been wrong before.." Flints gave a chuckle as she gently rubbed his and Raz's sides. "And what are we going to do if they are actual players? What are we gonna do with all the loot..." Flints licked her lips.

Raz was a bit shocked by Flints' sudden forwardness and slipped his way out of her grasp, walking backwards a bit before stopping a moment away to look at the two of them. "Now, Raz doesn't want to be a murderer, he's just a thief. Please do bear that in mind. If you want to be a murderer, then please just don't kill Raz. That's all Raz asks." Raz kept his hands up, a bit nervous at the way Flints was acting suddenly, unsure of how exactly to take this odd bloodlust she seemed to be under. "Honestly, Raz just hopes that this information, if if works in your favor, will mean that you let Raz go." Raz gave a nervous chuckle and a sheepish smile as he continued, "You can even keep all the loot!"

Endilix folded his arms across his chest, not pulling away from Flints, though hardly giving much of a reaction. "We're not murderers Raz. Right, Kita?" Endilix asked, hopeful as he looked down at the woman, though her bloodlust was certainly odd. Perhaps it's just a morning thing. She always did just want to eat the juiciest steak in the morning... Endilix shook his head with these thoughts, clearing his mind as he continued, "And we're not keeping any loot. We're going to give it back to the rightful owners. Come now, we're supposed to be heroes. Or I am. Saving Aincrad one good deed at a time and all that." Endilix sighed, "But if they're players, I don't want to kill them. They're people too, and as we've learned with Raz here, not all of them are bad. I hope you can see that, Kita."

Flints frowned and released Endilix and felt bad for scaring Raz. She withdrew a little and sighed. "I guess you're right. And if this really leads to anything, we have no right to keep Raz. Even know actually I'm surprised he's still here..." She didn't meet his eyes and she sighed again sadly. " then Okay. I'm not good at this planning thing. I'm just coming along for the ride..don't mind me..." Her words became more like mumbles until she was completely silent again and looking around at the scenery of the floor she lived on. It was beautiful in the morning. The temperature was just starting to change and warm up, but not too much. There wasn't a lot going on except for the trio standing out in the open, making grand plans...in the open. They were good at this, that was for sure.

Raz cocked his head at Flints' sudden withdrawl. As willful as Raz considered Flints to be, he wouldn't have expected her to suddenly withdraw the way she had. Raz had opened his mouth to speak, when suddenly he heard movement in some nearby bushes. Raz paused, listening, his words caught in his throat. But nothing happened, and so Raz began to speak once more, but this time to interrupt three men jumped out of the bushes and grabbed Raz, and made attempts to grab Endilix and Flints. Raz grunted and struggled against the man, but was unable to get free. Raz looked at them, before realizing that there were no player markers, and quickly shouted, "There are no markers, they're NPCs! Kill them!" But right after Raz shouted the man holding him cupped his mouth tightly, silencing the boy.

Endilix hadn't been expecting an ambush out here in the open. He supposed that's what they got for discussing this the way they had, although what struck Endilix was odd was when Raz shouted that they were NPCs. But Endilix had little time to think as this gave him free reign on the enemies. He quickly had his shield at the ready, and as the man behind him came at him, Endilix slid out of the way and gave a roar that shook the nearby trees. The thieves gave a snarl as the one who had tried to grab Endilix slid a curved blade from the sheathe at his side. He smiled, a gold tooth glinting in the sunlight. Endilix raised his shield and gave his own grin, ready for combat.

Flints' eyes were too busy taking in the scenery to fully process what was happening, the sudden burst of energy from Raz and Endilix had Flints' hair bristling. She hissed at the man who snarled at Endilix but paid him no mind, she was more worried about Raz. He was still a low level player. She quickly lashed out at the one who held onto him but missed. All the while slowly processing what was going on. Both of her comrades were more worried about if the enemies were actual players but Flints could care less what they were. Her friends were in danger. Well at least that's what it looked like at the moment. In the whir of things she ended up between Endilix and the thief who was after him. She stared at the man with a wicked smile on her face. "Let's dance!"

Despite Flints' attempts to intervene, the thieves cared little about her and instead each of them stabbed directly at Endilix with a three pronged attack, even the one that still had a firm grasp on Raz. Raz watched in horror as the man was skewered, but his health bar seemed to hardly be affected. The man was certainly a tank. And instead, it appeared that the thieves had a chunk of their own HP taken out of them by Endilix's armor and shield buff. Raz smiled, before taking advantage of the distraction to bite down hard on the thief holding him. The thief cried out in pain and released the boy, and Raz slinked away as he readied his weapon. But the thief wasn't done, as he went back to back with Flints and Endilix looking at the thieves surrounding them and then said, "Get down!" as he leapt into the air, his sword glowing gold as he spun around, slicing the three thieves in twain. Despite the ineffectiveness of the attack due to the thieves' armor, Raz was still proud of himself as he landed with a smile.

Endilix grunted as the three thieves thrust their swords into him, and he growled at them in response, watching as their health dropped due to his Thorns. When Raz had shouted to get down, Endilix instinctively ducked as he watched the golden blade slice overhead and hit the thieves around them. Endilix smiled, but wasn't about to be outdone by the boy, as Endilix took a step back and watched as his hammer glowed a deep red in his hand. He gripped it tightly as he slammed it into the ground, causing a ripple through the earth that hit each thief and drained their health bar a little bit more.

Flints watched as the two men worked almost in unison. Flints watched as Raz seemed to come more into himself, things came more naturally for him than even he seemed to think. But still being clouded by her thoughts Flints gave a quick swipe to distract the NPCs but failed. again. It was more than a little aggravating. And she hoped that she would stop missing soon. Or they would be here all morning. She looked over to Endilix and Raz and gave a sheepish smile as she backed away from the thieves. What else was she to do? By the time she actually hit they would be dead by Endilix's thorns, or maybe even by Raz. She hoped by Raz. It was cute the way his face lit up when he got into it. Wait. Where was she going with this? She shook her head and tried to clear the light blush that graced her cheeks. "You guys got this right?" Yes. Good job flints, cause now is a good time for jokes.

The bandits seemed annoyed by the way combat was going, especially the one that Raz had bitten. The bandits came in for another strike, and their swords bit deep into Endilix with their swipes as Raz managed to duck and dodge the one that had been most furious at Raz, but not enough to actually seriously hit him. Raz shook his head and did another spin attack in the air to hit the three thieves, his sword cutting into them with the golden glow of his blade. Raz huffed, unsure if he'd be able to do that again, but at least he was doing something.

Endilix cried in frustration as the three bandits sliced into him, faster than he would've been able to dodge. He didn't like the way they attacked in unison from three different sides, and Endilix decided he needed to quickly get out from the middle of them, especially with Raz spinning his sword around. It was only a matter of time before the boy hit him as well. Endilix dodged away from Raz's attack before taking a step out towards the outside of the bandits and gave an angry roar at the bandits, who all promptly turned to look at Endilix. Endlix banged on his shield and said, "Right here, guys. See if it works so well when you can't surround me!"

Flints kept her eye on Raz and his attacks, he tried his best to attack all the enemies and seemed to be doing a good job of catching them off guard, even if his attack wasn't very strong. She liked his attitude for the most part. But Endilix seemed to worry that Raz was getting to over zealous with his attacks; he ducked and moved out of the way and called attention to himself yet again. As he roared and caused the bandits to follow him like drones Flints singled out the enemy who first captured Raz. She poised her body close to the ground as her fists started to glow with power. She charged foward and hooked the bandit on her claws, slamming him into the dirt and hooking him again through the ribcage multiple times before throwing him down into the dirt. Letting him burst into pixels. She looked to the other bandits and licked her lips. Daring them to challange her.

Raz watched as Flints grabbed one of the bandits and practically tore him apart before giving the other two a death glare. The woman was frightening, and Raz was thankful that he was on her side. Yet more reason to continue to not be a jerk to her, despite his feelings on the matter. Raz shook his head and snapped into action as his sword glowed gold and he ran his sword through one of the bandits and spun and looked to Flints and Endilix, still excited that despite his damage output, he was still successful. Combat wasn't nearly as bad as he had thought it would be. The bandits, however, didn't fare as well as the red haired thief, as they made to swipe for Endilix, but clanged uselessly against the man's shield.

Endilix watched the combat flow in front of him and smiled. Things were going smooth for having been ambushed, and Endilix was happy that even Raz seemed to be enjoying himself. Perhaps we should go hunting sometime. I think these two would enjoy that. But that is for another day. Endilix thought to himself as he watched the thieves take poor swings at him, easily blocking the blows. Though, having been distracted by his own thoughts, Endilix's retaliation wasn't exactly anything great and he hit nothing but air. Endilix grunted and looked to the other two to continue their onslaught.
