[SP-F17] Olympian Hunt 1: Nimean Lioness

With the latest floor being heavily Greek inspired, Oikawa felt the most nerve-wracking itch to explore what this floor had to offer. With recent happenings still tugging at his mind, and the upcoming boss fight, he realized now was as good as of a time as any to take advantage of the new floor. Having already been on the floor for the last couple of days due to his training with Helios and the newly acquainted Avilon, the blonde decided that he'd just stay on the floor a bit longer to see what it could offer him. This search would of course start with materials.

The Nimean Plains, an area apparent crawling with Nimean Lionesses and Armored Soldier, seemed ever expansive as the young man stepped into them. His gaze lighting the typical golden hue as he searched for materials while simultaneously attempting to avoid any of the nasty creatures the map description spoke of. Initially unable to find anything worthwhile, he continued to paw around the starting area of the plains in hopes he didn't miss anything worthwhile. His luck seemed to strike gold as he uncovered a Lions Nail.

I suppose this doubles as not only a material but a marking. Lioness' have passed through here recently. This may also be a warning and traveling further may prove to be actually interesting for once. Taking a step forward, Oikawa solidified his choice to continue further. Equipping his rapier, the blonde dove head first into the first actual stretch of plains. While nothing immediately jumped at him, he figured keeping his guard up wouldn't be too terrible an idea. Glancing around, he spotted another Lion Nail.

Trail seems to warming up, thought the blonde as he collected the material. Placing it in his inventory, he paused to survey the landscape once more. His gaze shifting over every inch of grass, as he attempted to reveal anything hidden. Suddenly, a small rustling of grass caught his attention. Three, no four minions seem to be heading this way. Judging from their outline and the floor description, they must be Armored Soldiers. Gripping his rapier Oikawa, readied himself to plunge into battle.

As the soldiers broke into the blonde's attacking range, Oikawa quickly unsheathed Orochi and began to set the pre-motion stance for Delta Attack. Cocking his arm completely back, he watched as his blade took on the faint hue of gold, his left hand taking the same visual effect. Feeling the surge of power, he quickly leaped into the Armored Soldiers. The Charge enhanced move let loose a ripple effect that increased his damage output towards the first soldier. Quickly eliminating him, Oikawa raised his blade to the rest.

Egging them on, Oikawa taunted each of the remaining soldiers to come at him. The angered souls then took his challenge. The first of the three remaining soldiers charged at him, thrusting his spear at the player. Tucking to the left, he managed to avoid the attack. Rolling to his feet, he narrowly avoided the second soldier's attack. Weaving to the left, he side-stepped the third soldier's attack and let his rapier tear into the mobs chest. Using his Concentration skill, he focused on eliminating the soldier before him.

The two remaining roared out in either anger or mercy as they realized, against Oikawa, they had no chance. Turning to face the last two minions, he only smiled at them as they charged at him. With pixels still falling from their last attempt, the rapier-wielder was confident in his ability to outlast the both of them. Side-stepping the first of the two's attack again, he slipped past both of them. Appearing behind the second soldier, he quickly rapped his chest with three quick thrusts. Eliminating yet another mob, he turned to the last one and gestured for him to come meet his end as well.

Falling for the taunt, the sole surviving Armored Soldier charged the blonde. His attack completely missing the mark as the blonde stood there. I didn't even move and he missed. Has his Athenian spirit been broken that much? Nah couldn't be, mobs don't have conscious like that. At least I don't think they do. Shaking his head, he drawing his rapier back once more, he tore into the last mob and watched as he shattered into pixels. Satisfied with the battle of sorts, he figured he's need to rest to at least regenerate his energy.

Sitting down, Oikawa decided to get a nice long breather in. Despite his bravado, he knew if anything attacked him right now, if he couldn't one-shot it, he'd be in real trouble. A sigh escaped his throat as he looked about. The plains now seeming joyous and quiet once more. Swiping the air, he removed his shield once more and re-equipped his Leopard plushy. Figuring he might as well search for materials while he waited for his energy to recover, he scanned the area once again; unfortunately to no avail.

It seems like I used up all my luck when killing those sub-par armored soldiers. Shame really. Despite their crazy high health, I still managed to one-shot them without breaking a sweat. perhaps there is another challenge for me out here. I remember the map claiming Nimean Lioness' prowled the plains. Maybe I'll run into one if I can find a sub-dungeon or something similar. Having been lost in thought, he nearly forgot to check behind him. As he rummaged through the grass, he managed to find another material.

Pocketing the material, Oikawa looked up to his HUD and noticed that his energy had completely recharged. While he was excited, he decided he'd keep looking for materials and signs of a sub-dungeon. If I can find a dungeon, I'm willing to bet that a Nimean Lioness will show up eventually. Snapping back to reality, Oikawa hoisted himself up as he continued to look around. Sifting through more grass, he managed to find yet another material. Seems I stand corrected regarding my luck hehe.

With grass surrounding him on all sides, it was a wonder how he found any materials to begin with. The savanna like plains seemed like it should be home to far more creatures than just armored soldiers and nimean lioness'. Sending a gloved hand through his blonde curls, Oikawa continued to traverse the grassy fields in search of materials and a possible dungeon. He figured if he could find a cave dwelling or something, that'd be his best bet at locating the Nimean Lioness. Pressing forward he continued to follow the trail of Lion Nails.

Grass lowered with each step he took. Trampling the digital plains seemed almost to peaceful for him. He would've thought crazy beasts be would be running rampant in a place like this, though now that he thought on it, he was rather glad he wasn't being mauled by some Chimera or Gorgon. He wanted to avoid the Fates of those that did in mythos. Continuing on, he spotted yet another material lying about. I must be really close. There are far too many nails around here for it to be a coincidence. Let's see whats up ahead.

Looking over the ridge he had quickly come too, he spotted a network of caves and burrows like that of meerkats back in the real world. The main difference being that theses caves and burrows were enormous, meaning they could house Minotaurs, Cyclopes, and Nimean Lioness'. Excitement begin to rise in the blonde as his reveal began to flicker. He was pretty close to finding a dungeon he could feel it. Swiping through his inventory, he selected his Tiger's Rage Potion he had acquired from Byakko and drank it. He would need all the fighting power he could muster against floor level mobs here.

Letting his skills do all the work, Oikawa let his head drift from side to side as he searched for the sub-dungeon. His golden eyes homed in on a cave not to far from where he stood. Launching off down the ridge, the blonde quickly shortened the distance between himself and the cave. Entering it, he prepared his rapier as four more armored soldiers came filing in. While they certainly had an advantage in numbers, their HP bars were far smaller than before. Twirling the rapier, he gestured for the creatures to come at him.

The four minion mobs charged at him rather excitedly after his little taunt. Shaking his head, he focused in them. Timing their attacks, he quickly maneuvered between their blows. weaving and evading their slashes as he positioned himself to unleash a Twilight Resurrection on them all. Cocking his arm back and raising his rapier high, he slammed the ground and let loose a flurry of jabs and thrusts on each creature; quickly eliminating their health, but not enough to completely kill them. Leaving nothing but a dust cloud in their wake, the mobs charged again.

Unable to evade their attacks this time around. Oikawa watched as his health bar barely took any hit. With his shield still equipped, he managed to deflect a majority of the damage and much to their unfortunate luck, they were also now paralyzed from striking said shield. With a smirk producing on his features, Oikawa quickly took advantage of their immobility and launched another devastating AoE. This one while weaker than the one before it, put them in death range of his next attack.

With paralysis still affecting the armored soldiers, Oikawa had no reason to falter in his assault. He immediately charged up another Twilight Resurrection and let the end of his blade tear into the soldiers, or s he thought as he managed to inflict zero damage on them. Just as he thought of ending it, a creature roared out and escaped the shadows. While not all to menacing in looks, her stats told a different story. Looking at the massive HP Bar the creature bolstered, Oikawa hoped he hadn't bitten off more than what he could chew.

Prowling around behind the remaining soldiers, the Nimean lioness pawed the ground and roared out at her subordinates. With the call to action ringing loud and clear from their leader, the minions scurried into formation before spearheading right for him. Seeing the attack coming, Oikawa took the wave head on and opted to attack all four of the remaining mobs from within their attack. Tearing through them quickly, he turned his gaze to the Nimean Lioness still prowling about behind him. Drawing in a calming breath, he checked his energy and sighed. He could survive a couple blows from the lioness and hopefully it would proc his paralysis so he could regenerate some the energy. But first he would need to go all out.

Choosing to not engage the lioness juts yet, Oikawa made his presence scarce as he backed away into a corner. If he could just avoid combating the carnivore for a few more seconds, he could regenerate all his energy and engage her at full strength. Keeping his eyes peeled, he watched as the prowler lurked back and forth between where the blonde once stood and where the creature had dismounted from. Sniffing around, the lioness was still unsure of where the blonde had relocated too.
