Hakai sat near the exit of the sixth floor settlement. She had been lazy lately, and had barely gotten any SP at all, or done any quests. It was about time that she made some progress on her build, and she really needed to get stronger, especially with all of the player deaths and player killing that she had been hearing about. She gripped her claws tightly as she waited for the two other players she had asked to carry her through quests to show up. She certainly couldnt do this alone, and it was a bit dangerous for her, but it was the best way to make allies and grow stronger at the same time. After this quest she would need to set out and grandmaster her weapon of choice, as well as gain another two ranks in martial arts. And that was only the beginning of the build that she was planning.

In the centre of the main settlement of the sixth floor there was a disturbance in the teleport gate, a ripple, and then a brilliant flash of blue as a figure clad in black red and gold armour strode out of the gate. "This is the floor..." Xion said with a sigh as he looked at his messages, finding the one that detailed where he was to meet with a lower levelled player to help them with a quest, and luckily one that the tank had not completed yet, so there was quite a bit in it for him. "Hmmm...one of the main exits..." he said to himself as he made his way to the agreed meeting place, and as he approached he saw a player, one that appeared to be female, and equipped with wild dance claws. As the tank got closer he nodded to the girl. "So you're the one that wanted to do the quest... I think I've seen you in the event boss fights, and only the second person I've seen with wild dance..." he said to the girl as he leaned against a nearby wall, looking at her equipment that didn't seem horrendous, but it was clear that she wasn't taking any hits. "Either way, I'm Xion..."

Hakai glance behind her as she heard footsteps, smiling as the man approached her. She recognized him from the event bosses, as most of the lower level players were bound to do. He was certainly one of the premiere tanks during those events. And judging by the flashy and rather heavy looking equipment, he was all set to tank for this quest. She glanced down at her own armor. A breastplate with evasion buffs and arm guards with mitigation. She was prepared for if things went downhill as well. He seemed to be taking note of her equipment ad well, although judging by his facial expression he wasnt too impressed. "Ive never met anyone else whose used them." She said with a smile. "I like to think of wild dance as my own little unique. And im Hakai. I definately recognize you as well, although I'm not sure that we've ever really met in person." She stated, standing up and slipping her claws into their little sheaths at her sides.

"There is one person...a player by the name of Kalesh who showed up to the boss raid meeting..." he told the girl as she replied to his comments on her weapons, although he chuckled at her calling it one of her own little uniques. "That is a nice way to think about it, although actual unique holders would say otherwise in all honesty...well the two unique holders that are left anyway" Xion said before he stopped leaning on the wall, sending the girl a party request before looking back at her. "Let's get going then..." he said, shortly walking out of the gate and towards the area in which the boss would spawn, the tank saying little as he was focused on getting there, although some thoughts did cross his mind due to their brief talk about uniques.

The name Khalesh sounded familiar, although Hakai was pretty sure she had never met the player who went by that name. She followed the Xion out into the wilds, thinking about the fact that there were only two unique holders now. She hadnt been aware of that fact until Xion had mentioned it, but it was certainly useful information to have. Uniques seemed to be an important part of the game, and she knew that a lot of them had been lost due to the fact that their skills made them a target. That just meant that there would be more available down the line though. If there was even a limit to the number and types of uniques though. As they appraoched the spawning point for the boss she spoke up after a short pause. "I dont deal a ton of damage at once, i specialize mainly in damage over time, so you might have to tank for a while while the effects kick in." She explained before taking a step out into the burned woodlands that made of the bosses spawn area.

As they walked Xion thought about the fact that, as he had said there were only two unique holders left. He chuckled. "Gives me a chance to get one..." he said to himself as the forest that they were in slowly changed into one with only charred trees and a scorched ground beneath their feet. They were close. "That's fine...I rely on taking hits for my damage anyway, my thorns deal more than twice the damage of my normal attacks, and more than my most powerful sword art at the moment..." he said with a sigh. "I guess that's what you get for putting all of your SP into mitigation huh?" he said with a smile before hearing a loud roar and the crackle of fire near them, turning to his right to see the Byakko standing there. "Our target...stand back Hakai..." Xion said before grabbing his glaive from his back and walking towards the Byakko, inhaling deeply before letting out a bestial roar that attracted the attention of the beast. The byakko then swiped at him, the tank narrow dodging backwards as the flaming claw came at him. "Go for it, I have it's attention"

Hakai nodded, acknowleding Xion and filing away the information on his build for later. She had once   had aspirations to be a player killer, quite a while back, but her encounter with a dispicable player killer and the recent murer of her strongest ally had trned her from that path. She had experienced the pain of loss and wouldnt wish it on anyone. Still, information was a sueful thing, and Hakai planned to be leading these floor boss batles soon enough. She gripped her claws as Xion pointed out the enemy and prepared to attack once her had aggroed the boss. As he let out his roar she charged in and tried to send a swipe at the giant flaming beast, but missed. She used the momentum from her miss to continue on past the boss and out of range again.

Xion watched as the girl in his party went to strike the beast but missed, carrying on a bit after due to the momentum that she had built up in her charge. "Unfortunate..." he said as he looked to the Byakko, the eyes of which were trained firmly on the tank as it raised it's paw, the appendage coming down towards Xion who dodged with a sidestep. "Now to make sure that it won't hit her..." he said before howling once more to ensure that it's attention wouldn't switch to the girl.

Hakai spun around, glowering at the beast. She was about to just charge in and swing her claws wildly when she heard Xion howling agaìn to make sure that he maintained the bosses attention. She took a mmoment to take a breath. Her next attack would need to be precise and coordinated. She doubted that she would be able to do any damage with a high end sword art, so she prepared to slice the creature a single time and get her damage over time effects. She charged at the boss, slashing her claws through it's eye. The red slash marks popped up, but within moments they had shifted to a green color and were making sizzling noises. Now she just needed to refresh the DoT's whenever they started to deactivate, and they would have this fight. "That'll take a good chunk off!" She called out to Xion.

Just after Xion howled and was swung at by the Byakko he saw Hakai focusing herself for an attack, it was obvious that the girl was trying hard to make sure that her strike found it's mark, and Xion was interested to see what she did exactly with those caws of hers. As he watched her claws dig into the skin of the Byakko he was surprised to see that she had applied some kind of bleed or poison. "I see..." Xion said to himself before the girl yelled at him, the teen nodding in response. "I'll have to make this count then" he said before the boss rushed at him, the tank being struck dead in the chest and sent flying back a few feed by the force of the impact. "Bloody thing..." he said, slowly getting up as he noted with dismay that it's HP bar remained unchanged. "Bypassed my thorns" he muttered before charging, swinging with his glaive but missing before backing off as he allowed his HP to regen.

Hakai smiled as she creatures health bar dropped by quite a bit, her poisons doing their work. It would still be a short while before they stopped working, but Hakai was determined to try to refresh them as much and as often as she could. She rushed in and delivered aother swipe along the beasts side before retreating again. She certainly didnt want to be targeted by the creature, she doubted that she could take the hits. She had seen Xions health bar go down and then rise up again. She didnt have health regen like that.

Xion watched Hakai land another hit, which was good as the girl was having better luck than him in the fight and was dishing out more damage than him in DOT than he had, although the boss had bypassed his thorns which was the main source of Xion's damage. "Ok...bloody thing..." he said before the creature charged at him again, pinning him to the ground with one paw and raking his body with the claws of the other before releasing him. "D-damn" Xion said with a grunt as he got up, looking at the dent in his HP bar that the creature had made. "You'll pay for that!" he said before swinging at it with his glaive, missing once more.

Hakai frowned as Xions healthbar went down quite a bit. The stronger of her DoT moves had run out, so she ran at the beast again in an attempt to renew it. She missed though, and continued on past it. She hoped that Xion would be able to regenerate his health and dodge the boss, at least for a short while. She needed to get that Blight effect going again or they might be in trouble. She really needed to upgrade her damage... The only damage she was doing to this was through her weapons effects.

Xion frowned, the battle wasn't going as smoothly as he thought it would, the beast had already bypassed both his thorns and some of his mitigation twice, and his HP regen wasn't 100% reliable. "At least her DOT is working...but she needs to reapply whatever effect she had on it before..." Xion said to himself, he wasn't knowledgeable when it came to DOT effects but he assumed that she had applied some sort of advanced bleed, blight maybe. The Byakko swung at him again and Xion saw it, the wide arc was too telegraphed for it to get past his guard. The tank moved his shield to deflect the blow, the beast's claws scraping against it harmlessly as a small amount of his HP dropped. "Bad choice" he muttered before the Byakko roared and recoiled, feeling the sting of the player's thorns as a chunk of it's HP dropped along with some more from Hakai's DOT. With a grin, Xion ran forwards and tried to stab the boss but missed again, but it meant little as he had already done a significant amount of damage to it through thorns. "Have at it again Hakai" he said as he watched his HP rise again.

Hakai ran at the creature, sending a haphazard slash along it's side. Nothin happened though, besides the normal red damage mark, letting her know that she had completely failed to activate any damage over time effect. That was one thing that she really disliked. Her damage over time effects were very unreliable, and as far as she knew there was no way to make them reliable. Maybe Kayaba would come out with a patch or something? She sighed. She would undoubtebly continue to have to rely on luck for her damage, at least for the time being.

Xion watched as Hakai slashed the beast again, her claws doing little damage on their own, showing Xion that she wasn't a typical DPS build. "It's all from her bleed effects...interesting..." he said before seeing the Byakko's eyes angrily staring at him, the tank grinning as he answered the beast's challenge. The two charged at each other, Xion's shield blocking the strike from the byakko as he followed up with a strike from his glaive which did little damage, but once again the beast backed off as a chunk of it's health dropped from the combined thorns and bleed damage.

Hakai smiled as Xion attacked the boss himself, not doing much damage but just enough that he would maintain the attention of the mob if she got a crit. She rushed at the enemy, this time activating a sword art unlike the other times. She danced around the mob, her claws slashing four times, actually making a dent in the boss that didnt come from her damage over time effects. She glanced at the boss and it's health bar. Her effects were all activated and the boss was almost dead. She glanced over to Xion. "It's dead, it doesnt matter if you hit it or your thorns activate or whatever. Just hold it's attention for a minute or so." She explained, grinning.

Xion smiled as his partner landed a good blow on the beast with a sword art, doing more damage than usual. "Good...This will be finished soon..." he said before looking at the now enraged Byakko, the beast was furious and baying for the tank's blood. "Good..." he said before preparing himself for the attack as the boss charged, the player raising his shield as the Byakko's claws scratched the metal, it's HP instantly dropping ton zero as the DOT from Hakai's claws and his thorns took effect, destroying it's HP as the beast exploded into blue shards of data. Xion smiled as he collected the loot. "Do you want to take this potion? It gives you a +2 to damage, more useful for you than me" he said to the girl as he walked over to her.

Hakai smiled as the boss attacked Xion and then died because of Hakai's poison. She happily accepted the potion from him. "Thanks, i'll be sure to use it in the next boss fight." She replied, befre glancing back to where the boss had been only a few moments ago. She felt like she had done a lot, like she had gotten a lot stronger, but truthfully, a level one could have done what she had just done. It was all the claws. She sheathed them and then looked over to Xion. "That was quick. Theres still quite a bit of time left before dark, are you up for finding another quest?" She asked, turningt o face him fully.

Xion smiled and nodded as the girl accepted the potion. "Put it to good use...a damage boost like that can do a lot" he said before sighing and leaning against what was left of a burnt out tree, attaching his glaive to his black as he gave his muscles a bit of a rest. "It was Quick, but such is common when i take on bosses, they're done before too long. Although, most of the damage there was done by you and those claws, I've never seen a DOT with quite as much damage as that..." he said as he looked at the claws, trying to figure out why they were so strong. Could they have been demonics like Macradon's weapon? No, he doubted that a lower level player would have one. "I'm up for more questing, although I may want to bring someone along with me..."
