Itzal 0 Posted July 23, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2016 (edited) As Itzal warped to floor one he wondered where a good place to camp was. Velnia and he had decided to train before nightfall but they had to set up the campsite first. They already had the firewood and several rabbits Velnia would fry for them, but again they needed somewhere to camp first. Itzal had found several cloth pieces that nobody was using and was confident that he could make a suitable tent with the equipment. He thought for a little then decided that the best place to camp would be a tiny cave near a forest. He knew just the spot. As he began the long trek Velnia glided onto his shoulder. He smiled at her. Ever since she entered his life he wore a smile more than usual. She was a true gift. Edited July 29, 2016 by Itzal
Itzal 0 Posted July 23, 2016 Author #2 Share Posted July 23, 2016 (edited) He smiled when she pulled a few loop the loops as they approached the mountain. She always loved them, and he had the fortune to find out why. Any time they ended up high in the mountains the view was simply stunning. Unfortunately for Itzal he still had yet to master mountainous terrain. Climbing trees and traveling from branch to branch was easy, but steep inclines and jagged terrain? Difficult at best. So today Itzal planned on traveling on the terrain to practice. That's why Velnia was so excited. The place they had teleported from, an area in floor 3. There was a lake between two mountains, with an overhang perfect for a shop, with a crystal cave nearby. As he walked he noticed a patch of edible mushrooms. He smiled. 'Food for Adhae' he thought and picked one. ID# 64562 LD: 20 +1 MAT Edited July 23, 2016 by Itzal
Itzal 0 Posted July 24, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted July 24, 2016 (edited) As they drew closer to the forest by the mountains, Itzal spotted a wolf in the bushes. It growled at him but otherwise it didn't come anywhere near. Itzal presumed that it was because of his fairly high level now. He walked on and the wolf's eyes followed him but that's all that did. Shrugging he decided to put the thought out of his mind. He'd probably hunt it sooner than later but first they had to set up camp. When they reached the mountain he smiled. Yes, there was a clearing by the cliff side, uphill too so it wouldn't get flooded if it rained. Itzal pulled out the supplies and began putting up the tent when he heard a growl. He turned around with Retributor already in his hands when he noticed that there was not one but four wolves. An ambush. He sighed. "Can you finish setting up Velnia? I've got some pests to deal with." She nodded and he marched over to the wolves. Mob details: 4 wolves <> 20 <> 5 MIT <> 3 dmg Edited July 25, 2016 by Itzal
Itzal 0 Posted July 24, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted July 24, 2016 (edited) The wolves charged at him one by one and he evaded them all, smacking the last wolf on the rear as it passed, causing it to yelp. The other three charged after him he evaded them all. He swung at the third one as it passed by but it dodged him fairly easily. Itzal watched as they circled and surrounded him once more. He saw that they were going to be more cautious this time so they wouldn't charge again. Or so he though. The wolves rushed him out of anger and although they were close to hitting him they didn't touch him due to his armor. Even if they did land a hit on him they would have dealt minimal damage at best. After evading all their attacks he knocked them all away with a swing of his sword's flat side. Itzal 0 Posted July 25, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted July 25, 2016 (edited) With all four wolves on the ground he repeated his feat, striking them all again in a row. After striking them they jolted and rose to their feet. But by the time they had done so he was already climbing a tree, preparing to make an attack from above and be safe in the process. Those wolves were brain dead, whether or not they had strategies built into their system. They couldn't put two and two together. They didn't have logic like Itzal. Itzal 0 Posted July 25, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted July 25, 2016 (edited) The wolves stirred and saw what Itzal was doing and reacted faster than he had anticipated. They charged and jumped at him, grabbing the back of his cloak and yanking him down. Once he was they ripped at him with their claws. The surprise attack had caught him off guard and they hit some vital areas before he could use his legs and arms to block them. Still, even with the critical attacks they still only dealt minimal damage. Itzal 0 Posted July 25, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted July 25, 2016 (edited) Itzal shoved them all off and jumped to his feet. When he did he had to swing Retributor multiple times to keep the wolves away from him. After that they engaged once more, striking and evading neither side landing a hit. Back and forth they struck and once or twice Itzal made a jump at one and had to rely on instinct to save him from the attack that came from behind. After deflecting the incoming wolf they forced him back to the center. Itzal 0 Posted July 25, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted July 25, 2016 (edited) Now that he was surrounded they struck at him again. One wolf attacked him up front while another ran at his legs, causing him to trip. With that they lunged at him with raking claws once more. After a few hits he swung his blade at them but they jumped back. The evasion gave him enough time to stand on his legs before they came at him again, renewing the strike, parry, dodge pattern once again. This was taking forever. He jumped into the air when they struck at him again and unleashed a sword art, striking all of them at once. He dealt them a massive blow and seeing the red pixels emerge had granted them the bleeding effect. As soon as he landed they struck at him but it didn't matter. This fight was nearly over. Itzal 0 Posted July 26, 2016 Author #11 Share Posted July 26, 2016 (edited) Itzal let the monsters hit him one last time before they fell apart from the bleeding effect. He waited for the loot menu to come up but none did. "Dang it!" he muttered. He had been hoping for more materials, or some col at least but his luck seemed to be running dry. Maybe he should just look for materials rather than fight monsters. He sighed and headed back to where Velnia was. He stopped in total shock to what he saw. The tent was perfect. The fire was placed and set up in the most perfect way. And Velnia was gliding over to his shoulder. When she did he looked at her with amazement. "You are a true blessing," he told her. She smiled at him and looked over at the monsters before he shook his head. "No freaking loot. Again," he muttered. He sat down on a log by the fireplace. It hadn't been lit yet but he still felt a warmth from being around it. Itzal 0 Posted July 26, 2016 Author #12 Share Posted July 26, 2016 (edited) Itzal wondered if Velnia could cook up a stew but he doubted it. Still, he knew a little about making stew. At least, he knew you needed meat, veggies, water (or was it broth?), dump it in a pot and cook it over the fire. So Itzal told Velnia his plan and she went out looking for a thick log of some sort that she could slowly burn and carve into a bowl. Meanwhile he went out to search for food. They had the rabbit from the fourth floor, but they lacked the veggies. He looked around but didn't see anything. "It's a freaking forest, how are there no veggies?" Itzal 0 Posted July 27, 2016 Author #13 Share Posted July 27, 2016 (edited) Itzal thought he saw an herb and walked over, but before he touched it he recognized the plant as poison ivy. When gathering materials with Verus not long ago he made the mistake of thinking it was a perfectly fine plant and plunged his hands into them, getting a serious itch problem. Shuddering at the memory he decided to look for something on the mountain. There were after all, plants that grew on mountains. Itzal 0 Posted July 28, 2016 Author #14 Share Posted July 28, 2016 (edited) Itzal turned around and made his way back to the campsite. He was pretty sure he saw a path up the mountain so he wouldn't have to climb the whole way. He thought about that for a moment, wondering if he should get a skill allowing him to preform acrobatics. Nonetheless he would make his way up the mountain. He could only think of herbs and such but who knows? Maybe he'd find a carrot or two? They were much better than broccoli, of that he was certain. Itzal 0 Posted July 28, 2016 Author #15 Share Posted July 28, 2016 (edited) Itzal made it to the top and looked around for something he could use but found absolutely nothing. Great. He walked all the way up there to find squat. He sighed as he turned away when he saw something. Well what do you know, there was a carrot. He pulled it out and signed when he saw that it was barely enough for half a stew. He knew that there would be nothing left of the carrot after dinner. (this way he can still have the stew even with the poor roll :) ) He made his way back and was genuinely but wonderfully surprised to see a crudely carved pot over the fire with water and meat in it. Velnia smiled and Itzal saw that she was stirring it with her tail. As he cut the carrot and put the tiny pieces into the stew he grinned at her. "You washed your tail right?" She rolled her eyes at him, causing him to laugh. ID# 64987 LD: 3 Edited July 28, 2016 by Itzal
Itzal 0 Posted July 28, 2016 Author #16 Share Posted July 28, 2016 (edited) Itzal watched as she cooked their dinner, wishing there were more materials lying around but he didn't spot any so he simply took a seat. After a little he began compiling a list of songs he could possibly write. At the top was a love song inspired by his sister Aimi, though his progress on that was poor at best. After that he thought about topics that related to gamers. Winning, rookies, games, consoles, etc. So far he had topics but no good song came to his mind. Itzal 0 Posted July 29, 2016 Author #17 Share Posted July 29, 2016 (edited) While waiting for Velnia to finish he walked along the side of the cliff. Maybe he could write a song about players who fight for the rookies. He was about to toss the idea aside since he couldn't think of any other players who'd do that, when he realized that that wasn't true. Especially in this death game there are players out there who'd be willing to fight to protect and assist low level players contrary to players who fight to make themselves stronger and beat up the new kids. Now that he had an idea he could work with it a little. He stopped when he saw a large ore by the stony wall and smiled. Lucky him. +1 MAT ID# 65021 LD: 15 Edited July 29, 2016 by Itzal
Itzal 0 Posted July 29, 2016 Author #18 Share Posted July 29, 2016 (edited) Itzal walked back to the campsite when he heard Velnia give a cry and smiled when he saw the finished stew. He realized a mistake though and was about to point it out when Velnia swooped down and picked up a bowl for him to use that she also made. Itzal shook his head in amazement at what his dragon could do. Though he made a note to order a few supplies for future camping trips. He sat down and poured some of the stew into his bowl and indicated that Velnia could have the rest. She eagerly dived in and began slurping and chomping through every bit. Itzal shook his head again. "By the way, where did you get the water?" he asked. Velnia jabbed her tail in a general direction and Itzal could kind of see the river off in the distance. Itzal 0 Posted July 29, 2016 Author #19 Share Posted July 29, 2016 (edited) Itzal told Velnia about his idea for a song and she listened intently. When he was done she nodded slowly, causing him to frown. "What's wrong with it?" She hesitated, then shrugged since she couldn't communicate it. He sighed with frustration. Although their communication was great, there were some things that couldn't be said without words. He gave up on that and worked on finishing his stew. It wasn't good stew, but then again not only was it low quality food, but they weren't cooks. Sure Velnia was ok, but compared to any player who had a decent cooking skill this was almost equal with bread. At least it was different he thought. Itzal 0 Posted July 29, 2016 Author #20 Share Posted July 29, 2016 (edited) Itzal sighed and decided he'd talk with the group about the song. He didn't want to but it seemed he'd have to share with them if his songs were going to sound good. Now that their supper was over he yawned and looked at the sun begin to set. Eager to see the view in all it's glory he called Velnia to his shoulder and began heading up the mountain again, keeping an eye out for any materials. Just like the first time he found nothing. When he reached the ledge he could see above the tree tops and the sun making it's last few steps over the horizon. Velnia and he sighed in contentment. This was truly beautiful.
