[SP:F4] Anotha One <<Avalanche>>

Recommended Posts

With the rumors floating about another quest being released, Seul was determined to take it on sooner rather than later. First thing on the list was to retrieve a snowfrost though as it was something that was somewhat mandatory for getting through the mission in one piece. He left the snowy covered town of Snowfrost with haste, walking off toward the fields where he would find the field boss that dropped the item he sought. The battle probably wouldn't take a long time, but seeing as how his last quest took ages to finish that wasn't necessarily a bad thing from his perspective. "Just need to kill Avalanche and I'll be able to commence with step two of the plan."

It didn't take long to reach the field where Avalanche spawned and when he did he wasted no time engaging the giant snow elemental. He would finish it off with a single move, the trusty Cross Edge that depleted its health in an instant. It was almost too easy. "Geez, I didn't think you'd go down that quickly." He said with a smile as he retrieved the snowfrost potion. With that task out of the way there really wasn't much more left on his agenda for the day so it was nothing but rest and relaxation before the fights to come.

The walk back to town was a pretty peaceful one. Maybe the monsters in the area could sense how high his level was and chose not to attack him out of fear. "If only it was that easy." He mumbled with a sigh. It was a good chance to reflect on how far he had come though. A few months earlier he was asking people for help to take down such bosses, but now he was ending them with sneezes alone. It was great progress, but still didn't seem like enough. Why there were people who had already passed the level 50 threshold. He wouldn't be able to compete with that for much longer.

He needed some way to step his game up. The fastest way of leveling at the moment was to go through dungeons, but having no search capabilities made the matter... Tricky. Only people made for such tasks were capable of finding the entrances and the handful of people who could do so reliably were too high level to care about someone like him. No he would need to do it on his own. There were only fifteen levels separating himself from the top players in the game, but it felt like a large gap when he took a closer look. he needed a plan to catch up before the next tier of equipment became available.

At least he had some idea of what he wanted to accomplish next. First and foremost he would need to grandmaster his dagger... Something that should have been done ages ago, but he put it off for multiple reasons. The damage he was dealing at the moment wasn't horrible. It got the job done at least. But having access to the last set of moves and more damage overall would be a great asset to him in the days to come. Especially if he was planning on joining the floor boss battles as a regular combatant now that he was somewhat sturdy.

Afterward he'd take on the next quest in the Arabian Nights series. Going at it alone once again but at the same time being stronger and more prepared for the challenges he'll most likely face during it. Then The Falling of Tagas quest was going to be done. Not very many had completed it, but from the sound of it the quest was one worth doing. He debated going alone on that one as well... But it was a once in a life time type of deal and given the fact that parties were encouraged there would no doubt be people wanting to tag along for the fight.

It wasn't that he didn't like carrying people... It was just that sometimes he was better off doing things on his own rather than in a group. With a group he would only be able to move so fast. The rewards would need to be split and the chances of someone getting hurt increased tenfold. No, he would need to go alone for his own sake. A group would only slow things down and get in the way... Try to fight over the rewards at the end. He didn't need that. He didn't want it either. Everyone else would just need to come up with their own strategies for doing the quests.

With the thoughts taking a more sinister turn he decided it would probably be good to blow off some steam by fighting against the mobs in the area. A white furred rabbit hopped by almost completely ignoring him as it moved, but he couldn't say the same about it. The thing was easy prey and so with his dagger drawn he ran over and cut it open with the Cross Edge, leaving behind nothing but pixels as a result of the massive amount of damage inflicted upon the monster.

Before he could even collect his thoughts another rabbit appeared and just as the previous one did this one shattered to pieces with the execution of the cross edge. "Times like this I wish I had prosperity..." He said while going over the total loot he obtained thus far. Not much money to speak of but at least the mats he was getting would be useful later on down the line. "Alright, I can just keep this up until I get back to the town. I can make a small fortune doing this."

The next rabbit didn't drop any col unfortunately but it did produce a material that he eagerly scooped up once it was dead. The haul he was making was not a bad one at all. Each rabbit was going down pretty easily and all of the loot he was getting was more than he had been making lately. Most of his recent ventures resulted in not getting any money and with the need to purchase items becoming more prevalent he would need at least some income to get by.

It would have done him no good to press himself though. He squatted in the snow and looked up at the sky, waiting for his energy to return before attacking any more of the rabbits. The all looked so peaceful, even for bloodthirsty monsters bent on killing players. He couldn't help but wonder what it must have been like for them. Were they aware that their reality was all fabricated? Everything from the snow to their bodies was nothing but programming for a game. Yet they were all so real at the same time. It really was strange. As he thought he scooped up a small wad of snow and in it was a crystal; something else he could probably use toward crafting.

He tried digging around to see if there were anymore but it was hopeless since there didn't seem to be any in the immediate vicinity. "Oh well." He said with a shrug while turning his attention back toward the sky. How much longer would they all need to stay trapped in the game? Did anyone even want to go back anymore? Both were good questions but he doubted there'd be answers anytime soon for either. Despite the horrible situation everyone he met seemed to be coping with the imprisonment fairly well.

Well, almost everyone. Some players resorted to some dirty tactics out there to get ahead. He already made his thoughts on the matter clear at one of the previous boss meetings, but there was no helping those that chose such a path in life. Pkers aside, everyone else was doing alright. Or at least he assumed as much. The others would need to wait for the day they could all be free and until then he would do what he could to help out. Starting with picking up another crystal he found.

That was enough time spent sitting around though. It was time to get back in the action! Another rabbit was hopping around nearby and it looked like an easy target from a distance. Seul got up and swung his dagger at the monster but this one was different and managed to evade his blade, countering with its own kicking attack for minor damage. "Pointless..." He mumbled at the small creature. Why would it even bother attacking him? Did it not see what happened to all of its friends?

Just as he had predicted the rabbit was an easy victim as well, dying in the same manner as the other rabbits with the Cross Edge tearing it apart with two swift cuts. The loot he gained on this trip alone was proving to be more lucrative than his last few weeks out and about. Maybe it would be good if he went hunting more often. He never really bothered to int he past since his profession wasn't really one of much value around Aincrad. No customers meant no reason to craft and no reason to craft meant no reason to gather materials for crafting. Sure they were useful for trading as well, but that's why he always carried a good amount of Col with him.

Another rabbit hopped into view and as it did he made a dash toward it but ultimately ended up missing as the tiny creature dashed between his leg and to his back. It then delivered a miniature kick to his back for one point of damage. Seul brushed it off like he always did and raised his shield to ready his assault once again. "I've faced things way tougher than you bunny rabbit. I'm not dying in this field today by your paws!" Of course he wasn't expecting a response, but he was met with the little rabbit sound that they make in what he assumed was a challenge on his honor.

He activated Cross Edge once again and finished off the rabbit with ease. "Mo' mats, mo' problems." He said and smiled. It was a nice little collection he got through all the fighting, but maybe it was time to officially return to town to rest up. "Just a few more..." It wouldn't be the top priority anymore, but if he happened to see anymore of those rabbits along the way he wouldn't hesitate to finish them off for their loot. After all, somebody had to be the one to farm them.

It wasn't long before another rabbit ended up biting the dust. Maybe he should have been given the title of Rabbit Slayer after this point. Part of him was somewhat disappointed that the bodies of the monsters disappeared upon defeat as it probably would have been amazing to see so many rabbit corpses left behind in his wake as he strolled back to town. A missed opportunity if he ever did see one. There was no use harping on it though. If he ever had a chance to meet the creators of the game he'd be sure to let them know.

And another one. How many had that been now? He lost count somewhere along the way. Maybe it would have been best to just chalk it up to one hundred just to sound cool if he ever told the story about the time he killed all the rabbits in the fields surrounding Snowfrost Town. Yeah, that's what he would do. His energy was spent again but it wasn't like he was planning to be out for much longer. The town's gate was close enough to walk to and the rabbits had probably had enough fun for one day.

He stretched his arms out while entering the safe zone, taking the opportunity to look around as he did. Quite a few players seemed to be assembling parties to get ready to go out on hunts of their own, but he simply shook his head as he walked by. He was at a point where many of the lowly monsters lost their scare factor. He didn't need help very often anymore, but that wasn't to say he was going to rush into reckless situations now that he was a little tougher than the average player. He still had limitations and the sooner he realized that the easier it would be to live in this world.
