[PP-F1] combat basics <Itzal and Mossino> Completed

Recommended Posts

As the two of them walked outside Itzal thought hard about how he was going to train Alisa.  She would probably still be nervous but with him guiding her every step of the way he figured they should be did of that soon.  Theyd start with basic combat in the game including an explaination on sword arts.  Once that was out of the way they could move on to tactics and styles.  If she was going to be a scout and damage dealer they needed to get her set up on damage first.  With damage finished they could work on her physical strength as well as mob grinding.  Once she became strong enough they could start on parkour, which Itzal believed was very important for scouts.  As they continued he figured he could add more or edit some of it if need be.

"Alright, we'll do what we did last time.  I'll get the attention of the mob and you do as much damage as you can.  Hopefully I won't miss this time," he finished with a grin.

She walked out with him towards the field, listening to what he had to say. She smiled and nodded, but she spoke nervously. "Ah...erm..yeah! Okay! sounds good senpai!" She sighed lightly, drawing her rapier from the menu. She was a bit spooked, yes, but she knew she had more HP and damage this time 'round. Well, actually, no not more damage. Checking her stats she realize only skills and weapons affect damage, not level. She sighed again, it would still take two hits to take down a simple boar! She shuddered, she didn't want to get hurt. She would have to get use to this pain though. If she wanted to be a front liner, she needed to. Steeling her resolve, she looked on, ready to fight and train herself with Itzal's help.

She gave him a wider smile at his light joke. "Lets do it!" It was obvious she was slowly getting more confident.

Itzal smiled to her and this time drew Retributor before hand.  He picked up a good sized rock and threw it with incredible speed at a boar, angering it quickly.  Exactly like last time, Itzal waited until the boar reached him, then dodged out of the way.  He nodded to her this time, knowing that she understood exactly what she had to do.  This might turn out better than he imagined.  If they took down two boar and rose her confidence again he could explain sword arts to her.  It may sound a bit complicated to her at first but once she got the hang of it, combat should be a lot easier for her in the future.  As long as she timed it right.  If she didn't then she'd be wasting energy.  Itzal knew of course that unless you had meditation or gear with the recovery enhancement you had to wait till out of combat to regenerate energy.  And that took time.

Watching Itzal draw the boar, she readied her Rapier, knowing it was nearly time. He easily angered it and it charged at him, but, Itzal, being a much higher level than it, easily dodged out of the way, leaving it coming towards Alisa. She saw the break in its defense, unable to stop its charge. She moved forward swiftly, attempting to impale its head...

But, she missed. Somehow her hand just faltered and it went off course, barely missing the head of the boar. In her confusion she overstepped and the boar nearly hit her, but, she dodged, watching it turn around and go after Itzal again. Her eyes widen and she calls out, "Hey! Watch out senpai!" She waits for him to route it again so she can get another hit in.

Itzal turned and saw the boar just before it made a square hit on his chest, pulling out an 'oof' from Itzal.  The impact would have been worse if it wasn't for his mit.  Even with it though he had nothing to worry about.  These boar were so below his level he was sure he could take on a horde of them by himself.  He grabbed the boar's tusks with his left hand but refused to strike it with Retributor.  He wanted Alisa to hit the beast at least once and she couldn't do that if he killed it in one hit.  He pushed it's tusk hard to the right and watched it roll onto the ground.

"Don't worry about it Alisa, happens to the best of us!  Give it another go!"

Alisa cringed a bit as she saw him get hit, but, she realized how high a level he was at that point. His HP barely went down. She smiled lightly, and readied her Rapier. She took a few rapid steps towards the boar, and drove the Rapier down upon its exposed belly...

The hit lands squarely and impales the boar's stomach, making it move quickly out of the way, making its bestial sounds in agony. She steps back, grinning. "I got it senpai!" she states, as the boar just kind of stands there for some reason or another. She dealt a good, clean, two damage to the boar, and it was close to death at this point. She readied herself for the boar to attack her, but, it missed when it came after her, badly actually.

OOC-  Next time we fight a mob, know that only the person who started the fight deals the mob's damage.  You don't need to roll for the mob so that makes it easier for you.  Otherwise hate would be pointless  :)

Itzal smiled when she hit it and grinned widely when she got excited.

"Great job!" He shouted and saw the boar turn it's attention to her.  Before it could attack however he made a swift dive for it and drove Retributor into the boar's side.  As it squealed it shattered into crystals.  He didn't bother looking for loot.  Unfortunately with his high level presence there would be no loot for a while.  Until she reached his level that is.  Still he did find some boar meat.  Maybe Adhae or Alisa, when she got the profession, could cook something out of it.  He stored it in his inventory and turned to her smiling.

"Alright good work!  You're starting to get better at aiming."  He thought for a moment and decided to show her sword arts next, and later in her training do practice spars with her to develop her fighting style.  Probably once she gained her first armor skill and reached a decent level.  They could then do a half health duel.  Competition was always a good way to raise one's skill and strength.  "Let's work on sword arts.  It's important and you'll use them a lot.  Watch me first ok?" he suggested.  He threw a stone at another boar, preparing the demonstration.

Alisa smiled at the compliment, always enjoying them. She watched him take down the boar after getting hit. She still instinctively asked, "Are you okay?" She tilts her head, looking at him as he talks. Sword Arts? What was that? Ohhh, were those special skills like in other MMOs, like this games version of magic. I see! She states in her head.

She stands behind him as he angers another boar, ready to watch the demonstration of these skills. She seemed rather interested at this point, and was watching intensely.

OOC- http://www.sao-rpg.com/topic/8918-sword-arts-and-you/  Sword arts deal extra damage based on multiplication.  It's hard at first but becomes easier quickly.  For example:  Itzal uses snake bite, so it's his base damage (5)x2x1.  The result is ten.  As for energy your amount matches your level.  Itzal is level 13 and therefore has 13 energy.  Since snake bite uses two energy Alisa can use this sword art if she needs to inflict greater damage.  And for the ps viewing this I forgot to mention that none of these mobs have MIT  XD

Itzal watched as the boar charged and prepared his sword art, explaining the process to Alisa.  When the boar was close enough he unleashed snake bite, his blade glowing dark red as it sliced through the boar.  The creature made another square collision with Itzal as the last one had right before it shattered but he didn't even budge.  'So this is what it feels like to be a tank' he thought.  After the demonstration he stuck Retributor into the ground and picked up another rock.

"Sword arts are very useful but take up energy.  If you use up all your energy at the beginning of a fight you could be in trouble.  I like to wait until I feel I'm about to land a critical hit."  He repeated his action of drawing one boar over.  "This time when you strike use snake bite to take him out in one hit.  If you feel your going to miss though, cancel the action so as not to waste your energy ok?"

She watches his movements and his sword arts in awe. Woah! That was so cool! As he talks she opens her menu to see if there are any Sword Arts she can use. After looking at the five she can use, she sees the one she wants to use. 'Rip Ravine.' Was its name. If she pulled it off she could instantly kill a boar. She readies her rapier as the beast draws near, it glowing a faint, bright light. As the beast nears Itzal she steps forward, and...

She misjudges the speed of the boar and it travels past her towards Itzal and she completely misses her attack that I was going to spend a lot of time describing.

She looks dumbfounded, "A-Ah! S-sorry Senpai!"

Itzal saw the boar was a little confused from the attempted attack and used that time to reassure her.

"Don't worry about it, we all miss sometimes.  Heck I miss more times than I'd like to admit!"  He heard the boar begin to charge and this time was prepared.  When the boar was close enough he swung his hands upward, grabbing it's tusks and throwing them into the air, flipping the creature on it's back.  She may not have enough energy but she could still practice.

"Hit it now!" he called.  Once she landed a hit with sword arts they could do a little more practice and.  Then what?  Call it a day?  Perhaps they should pick up a routine.  In the morning they'd exercise together, and later fight monsters.  After she became skilled with fighting monsters they could begin more advanced practices.  Still he felt something was missing.  He needed an assistant.

She felt lightly embarrased about missing until Itzal comforted her a bit. Smiling, she listened to him talk until he flipped the boar, knowing it was going time she took a few steps forward and went to stab the boars stomach again. Easy hit right?

But, as she was bringing the rapier down, she fumbled and the boar rolled out of the way, making her impale the ground. "Eh!?" she shouts, pulling her sword out of the ground. "Where'd it go!?" She questions, not realizing the boar went under her legs and behind her.

Itzal saw her stumble when the boar rolled out of the way.  He forced himself not to chuckle but he let a smile show though she was too busy looking for it to notice where it had gone.  He saw the boar make it's way around her and charged Itzal.  Tired of this little game of hide and try to beat up the player who's way out of it's league, he made a simple jab as the mob ran into him.  It shattered into pieces and he smiled gently at Alisa.  She did not deserve jokes to this as he knew she might take it the wrong way.

"Alisa, it really is ok.  I wasn't joking when I said I missed more times than I'd like to."  He thought for a moment and made a decision.  "How about this?  After a few more days of training I'll buy you a sword.  I can tell you about the enhancements later but let's start by trying one more time with another boar ok?

OOC-  I have to go to work soon, make sure your post doesn't have combat in it ok?

Alisa was frowning from missing twice and she sighed. She laughed lightly realizing the boar was under her. Smiling lightly at her own stupidity she listens to Itzal. "Okay!" She states, excited again, "Sorry for missing so much again Senpai..." she states, an air of embarrassment in her voice. "Let's keep going at this, I'll promise I'll use a sword art properly before the day ends!" She states, determined to do something right.

Itzal smiled.  Being a mentor felt strange for him but he enjoyed it at the same time.  Not to mention she had thought about becoming a scout like Itzal.  When they practiced stealth skills together, they could go on scouting missions together as well as fight in the front lines, taking every precaution of course.  Itzal scanned the grounds for another boar.  After sword arts they needed to make a plan for the future.  Spotting one he threw a rock at it and prepared himself.

As the boar comes towards her, she readies another special attack. But as she prepares it, she doesn't feel right. And she deactivates the move, going in for a swift regular attack on the boars side. She felt right, and the attack misses by a long shot as she misjudges her movement speed to hers. Stupid mistake, shes a mathie, she should know this! Her attack flies past and she stands there dumbfounded. "Gah! Thats three in a row!" she states, embarrassed, not really angry.

The boar turned to Alisa curiously, sensing she attempted to hit it.  It was considering charging her when it let out a loud squeal from being smacked hard on the read and turned around.  "Focus on me bacon!" Itzal taunted.  Outraged it charged him square in the chest.  It didn't bother Itzal whatsoever.  He also wasn't bothered or disapointed with Alisa in any way.  In fact he was a little proud of her!  It still felt weird to think of her as an apprentice but he was certain that Ulises, along with success would cause the role to grow on him.  He grabbed the boars tusks and held the beast steady for her, though he wasn't sure how long he could keep it still.

Alisa smiles as Itzal taunts the boar and gets rammed in the chest. She found it lightly funny, but this was no time for laughing. She drew her rapier back, and it glowed a faint white as she charged a Sword Art attack. Finally thinking she'll hit the attack, she finishes charging it, the basic rapier glowing a bright white. Quickly she swipes it down on the boars head then back up in a V shape, making pixelzation damage on it's head in a V shape. She pulled off 'Rip Ravine' and dealt four damage, instantly killing the beast.

She smiles, rather excited and happy. "Senpai! Look! I did it!" she states happily.

Itzal smiled as she successfully decimated her target with the sword art.  His smile widened when she showed her excitement eagerly.  He wondered if it was really necessary to call him senpai every time?  Oh well, he thought.  He walked over and patted her on the back.

"I knew you could" he said with a little excitement of his own.  "You did great Alisa!  Your getting a hand of the rapier.  Have you always chose weapons like this in mmo's?"  After the monster was killed and she had successfully used a sword art she looked a little tired.  He nodded the point.  "Let's sit down for a little ok?"  They sat down beside a large oak tree and Itzal sighed.  Somehow he loved lying in the tall grass with a wonderfully cool breeze flowing across the field.  In the brief silence that followed he decided the easiest way to decide his plans was to figure out what options there were.  Combat was a necessity and they had just covered the basics.  There were advanced fields of course but they could cover those when she got better gear.  Exercise could be implanted into the system at any time so he didn't worry much about that.  Parkour would be important if she intended to be part scout.  Stealth would also be a vital.  Social skills would also be needed but he'd need help for that.  Perhaps one other person.  Jonathan was definitely kind.  Knowing this, combat was first.  Parkour and social second.  Stealth would probably be last.  If something else comes up he can edit the system.

"Hey Alisa?  I'm both surprised and a little happy to have an apprentice.  I love helping people and you gave me the perfect opportunity.  But I do have one or two conditions."  He made sure he continued in a gentle manner.  "The first being that no matter what happens, our training won't get in the way of our friendship.  The second that even after training you won't attempt something you can't handle without people who can.  And third."  He smiled.  "No more sleeping on the stone ground.  I'll rent us each a room, it's not that expensive ok?"

She smiled happily as he patted her. Alisa listened to him as he led them over to a safer part of the field. She sat down beside him, relaxing and hearing what he has to say. The breeze felt great and sitting down rested her wary legs.

Once he starts talking about conditions she looks at him, tilting her head. Nothing affecting their relationship? That makes sense, and she felt the same way. And of course she won't try to solo much more powerful monsters than herself. She doesn't want to die. But the last one made her blush lightly and look away.

"A-Are you sure...I mean..I'm fine with it..."
