Character Profiles[Resolved] & Stats (Under Dev)

There isn't exactly a whole swarm of people here, so I don't think one topic per chara is really all that crowded. Dead characters will eventually float to the bottom as inactive posts, same for those who choose not to keep it updated, so the list will likely be relatively stagnant. Most probably won't even make new posts, just edit existing ones. It's just those existing posts could get fairly long which would make reaching other charas troublesome.

The journal isn't meant to act as a twitter. When I say summary I mean like a broad overview of like, stating on one sentence what happened in three rps, as an example.

Even in cases where awesome truckloads of characters each have their own thread, I don't see a problem with it. People could link to each of their character's profiles in their signature or profile, and I have often seen it done that in a single post someone keeps a master list of all characters: name+link to thread. As long as one is well organized, it is easy to reap the wonderful benefits of the one character per thread system.

If post spamming is a concern, it could simply be stated as a rule that you may reserve one post for use as a journal and edit that whenever something happens and you want to note it down. In fact, a post limit could be set per character thread, like: 10 posts per thread maximum. I'm sure that would be enough for people to have their character profile on one post, their acquaintances on another, art on another (if they have any), a list of links to RP's they're currently active in in another, and so on and so forth. Actually, I'm sure even 8 posts max would be enough per character thread.

Right now there isn't a swarm of people here Nevina, but later on there might be. Then it just gets crazy filled. Gotta prepare for the long run in these cases IMO.

Thats my whole bases of it, Gotta look at the "IF's" when it comes to planning like this as once it is set into motion, it will be harder to change the further we are down the line.

So shall we start up another Poll? Single Topic Character sheet's or One Topic for all your characters and just edit your post as thing change

«Nevina» The merchant of Aincrad.

Profile

» Username: Nevina

» Real name: Secret!

» Age: 25

» Gender: Female

» Height: 5'9"

» About: Nevina lives alone with two cats, but is actually fairly sociable with the few she's close with. She visits her friends and family several times a week and has a flexible schedule as she works from home. She is a professional indexer and also sometimes sells crafts online. As her work is done online, she enjoys keeping up with technology. Aside from crafting, she enjoys gardening and reading, and is also a bit of a tea connoisseur. Nevina enjoys casual gaming, and was eager to try out Sword Art Online. At the event of SAO trapping its users, Nevina was found by her family after it was aired on the news and moved to a hospital with other SAO victims..

» Virtues:

Optimistic. Nevina always looks to the silver lining and doesn't let the bad things hold her down for long.

Easygoing. Accept things as they are and move on. Her flexibility in nature means that she almost never lets stress get to her.

Self sufficient. Nevina is used to standing on her own and being independent already, and knows how to take care of herself.

» Flaws:

Squeamish. Nevina doesn't like the thought of dying in a game, and as a result becomes a bit of a scardy-cat in battle, opting for abilities to avoid attacks rather than doing heavy hitting and running away if things look dire.

Idealist. The downside of constant optimism is that she sometimes finds it hard to see the negative side of things the same way that other users might and often has impractical expectations about the world.

Self oriented. Nevina prioritizes herself and self preservation. While she'll help others, she won't do it at her own expense.

(once everyone is used to the SP/PP/OP acronyms we can use that for profiles)

How should we tell someone that their profile is approved? I don't want to post in their journal and potentially mess up any post placement styles they had planned out or something, but a PM might not be public enough to know who was/wasn't approved.

An admin/gm could click on Edit in the post, at the bottom section it says "reasons for editing post" and the admin/gm writes character approved and clicks save. When they do, whomever approved it has their name shown.

See this reply for an example.
