[SP-F1] One with the Pack <Itzal> completed

Recommended Posts

It was twilight on the first floor once again.  He was sitting on a tree branch while Alisa slept.  She always managed to fall asleep after the long day of training but no matter how much they went through Itzal was always energized and awake at night.  Thus he would usually think about things going on in his life or gather materials.  He never fought mobs this late since if he got them active they might pose a threat to Alisa.  The wolves weren't a problem of course.  They learned quickly that she was with Itzal.  After that he even saw them watch out for her from the shadows.  Ever since he and Kasier killed the tyrant warg and helped the wolves revolt against the more savage ones in the pack, they made it clear that they wanted peace with Itzal.  After all, he did decimate the warg into pieces.  He sighed as he stared into the moon when he heard a twig snap below him.  He looked down and saw a wolf watching him anxiously.  When he didn't move the wolf barked.  Itzal made a sign to be quiet and pointed at Alisa, who stirred slightly from the noise.  The wolf saw her and nodded to the north before walking away.  Itzal was confused but stood up and began to jump from branch to branch, keeping up with ease.  What was up?  Had another warg respawned?  As far as he knew only one warg could exist on this floor at a time.

Itzal followed the wolf silently and was assuming he was being led to the cave.  As they made their way over he heard a sound and turned his attention sharply to his right and saw two boar chasing after them.  Itzal rolled his eyes as he really didn't have time for this crap.  The wolf noticed too and nodded towards him before dashing faster.  Wolves could outrun boar in the forest any day and Itzal was safe on the branches of the trees, not to mention faster, but the forest didn't go on forever.  Eventually they would have to fight.  So while he ran he checked the mobs every once or twice.  He was able to estimate that these two boar were an even level as him but not old.  The older a mob was the more likely it was going to adapt or react easier to an attack.  Young meant they were still stupid and reckless.  He looked ahead and saw the end of the forest.  That's when Itzal saw Velnia catching up with him.  He had hoped she would sleep but she rarely left Itzal behind.  He pointed to the boar and she nodded.  The wolf finally noticed what Itzal had and turned around sharply, in position to fight back.  Itzal drew Retributor and switched to Twilight cloak, wanting the boar to see his face when they died, preparing to leap from his position.

OOC- I hate stuff

Itzal was about to leap when his foot caught between branches.  He stumbled around a little but did not fall.  He watched as the two boar charged at the wolf and would have hit it hard had it not been for Velnia swooping down clawing at their heads as well as the boar's quick evasive skills.  Itzal turned his attention to the problem at hand and pulled the branches around until he finally got his foot free.  Unfortunately in the process he lost balance and fell onto the ground hard on his back.  Before he could recover the boar backed up from the wolf's attack, stepping on him in the process.  When they noticed him they stomped their feet hard on him, causing a crit but no extra damage.  Luckily the fact that he was a high level meant that he received no pain from the attack.  If he were still at a low level that would have really hurt.  He shoved the boar off of him and rose to his feet with Retributor in a defensive position.

Itzal worked hard as he deflected both boar's attacks.  They worked perfectly together, striking fluently by running in a circle around him, each striking from a different position but moving too fast for him to escape or detect where their next attack would be.  Whenever the wolf tried to charge the boar would either slow down or speed up so that it would miss them and almost throw Itzal off.  Itzal continued to deflect the monster's attacks when suddenly he noticed that one had gone missing.  It was then he felt a thud against his back.  Another crit.  And with that distraction the other boar rammed into his stomach.  Itzal called to Ulises who had gone to sleep earlier.  Eh?  Oh, more of these losers?  Alright......  Behind you, jump.  Itzal preformed a backflip, barely avoiding the boar's second attack.  With Ulises assisting him now he was able to avoid the monsters attacks.  Still, young as they seemed the boar were learning fairly quickly.

Now that Ulises was observing the battlefield with Itzal he was able to focus easier on the battle.  While Ulises was waking up the two boar managed to graze Itzal but it was nothing at all.  Instantly he knew where they were and where they might be.  He waited for Ulises to give Itzal the signal to attack.  While he did he calculated what move to use, where, when and how every time the boar changed their movement or attacked.  He deflected a few more attacks and could feel Ulises preparing when the wolf made a strike at one of the boar and cut off.  While the wolf retreated Itzal kept the other boar from attacking the wolf's side.  Once that was out of the way the process began again.  Soon Ulises called Now!  Lightning fall!  Itzal already knew which sword art to use and therefore had already activated it by the time he finished.  He leaped into the air and struck at both boar, forcing them to endure his strength and receive the bleeding effect.  Both boar squealed in pain and as he landed they grew furious as they had hit the orange health zone.

Itzal landed and was immediately struck at by both boar.  There was very little time left for them with the bleeding and they knew it.  Therefore they struck at him in earnest.  Ulises helped Itzal identify where to deflect and parry and they continued to step back from the assault.  The two boar's strength and hatred were nothing against the player's sword skill, along with the quick thinking of both Itzal and Ulises.  Together they were unstoppable.  Even better was the fact that they were working together without the use of anger.  They could use their skills, knowledge and reflexes to get the job done.  Itzal was the one who noticed the mistake the pig had made first and struck his sword in a downward strike, barely damaging it but knocking it into it's partner, preventing them from attacking for the last three seconds.  Finally the monsters shattered into nothing.  Itzal smiled.

We're getting better at this!  Next time please wake me up before we go on these sorts of things rather than WAKING ME UP IN THE MIDDLE OF IT!!  Itzal winced for a moment.  You're right I will, sorry.  He looked up when he saw the loot menu and his face lit up.  They got perhaps the rarest drop they could have received from a normal monster:  Portable mailbox.  -Send presents and gifts to other players with this-  "Alright!" Itzal said with excitement.  He glanced at the wolf who seemed impatient and nodded.  "Right, let's hurry."  As he dashed after the wolf who took off, Ulises grew confused.  Wait, did I miss something?

Itzal tried to explain that the wolf made it clear it needed their help.  Not only did Itzal genuinely want to help the wolves get back on their feet, but this might end up with some reward, not to mention strengthen the relationship between them and the wolves.  Ulises hesitated but agreed in the end.  They soon reached the cave and the wolf glanced at Itzal to see if he needed help getting through.  It nodded when it saw Itzal pull out a large glowing crystal.  The wolf began to run into the cave but not as fast this time.  Itzal jogged behind the wolf, the crystal illuminating the cave floor enough for him to get by.  As they ran along he observed the wolf and noticed that it seemed tense, perhaps nervous.  Why would it be nervous?  If they were under attack then it would be angry or frustrated.  Was the young warg turning dark?  Ulises told Itzal to let him think about it so they could gather materials.  Itzal nodded.  He could always lend some to Adhae or sell some to Xion.  As he felt the walls of the cave however he could find no usable items whatsoever.  He shook his head as they grew close to where the wolves typically lived, equipping Niger Natio just in case.

As he entered the area he noticed the wolves weren't hiding the light and he placed the crystal back into his inventory.  As he expected most of the wolves hadn't respawned from the civil war he and Kasier were a part of earlier.  Those who had fought against the rebels and later in the fight turned on their own were isolated and watched by the other wolves.  However there was something all the wolves had in common.  They all walked around, pacing, as if they were anxious.  What was going? on he thought.  Before anything else could occur however, there was a yelp of surprise from a wolf and before Itzal could detect which one had made the cry, a squad of six goblins rushed into the large room, each equipped with short swords.  Most of the wolves dashed at three of the monsters leaving the three for Itzal.  He began to draw Retributor and the three goblins noticed him, charging forward.  Could Itzal never get a break?  He tightened his grip on Retributor and let out a roar before charging to meet his foes.

The three goblins came in no particular formation and Itzal easily dodged each and every one of them, slashing the last one across the torso.  It only did minor damage of course, but that would change in the future.  Itzal was close to tier 2 and he intended to make a sword for the purpose of all out damage.  Not only that but he had almost finished grandmastering his sword skill as well.  He intended to raise search and detect up one more level first though.  Then he'd grandmaster his sword skills and finish search and detect.  Light armor would be next.  That way he could train on higher floor levels without fear of dying so easily.  Itzal watched as the goblins stumbled over each other for a moment, confused.  Of course they were.  They obviously were expecting just a few wolves to fight, not a player.  This posed a problem, especially since he appeared to be a high level player.  It was only after Velnia smacked one on the head with her tail did they realize her presence.  A player and a small dragon.  And yet the determination on their faces showed that they wouldn't go down without a fight.

Itzal watched as the three monsters charged him, eager to bring this cocky player who thought he could take on three individual goblins on down.  Itzal waited for their approach then parried their attacks one by one.  Being goblins they weren't exactly smart and therefore were easy to deflect.  However their numbers and consistency of strikes kept Itzal from returning the favor.  While Itzal kept up their defense Ulises began to scan for weaknesses, looking for the right place and time to strike.  Velnia was staying airborne, high enough to keep herself safe.  She was meant for distractions or annoyance, not actual combat.  As the strikes continued to rain down on Itzal he made no retreat.  He stood firm and kept his body relaxed and let his wrist do most of the work, his fingers letting the blade dance around them without grip.  A stiff body would tire quickly and using his wrist and fingers so casually prevented overuse of his body's stamina, which he would obviously need.

Parry right, counter left, dodge center and right, deflect left onto center, block right, the pattern continued to change and reform, a tactic that would normally confuse most beginners.  Itzal however was no beginner.  To him this was as simple as second nature, hardly noticing what he was doing, let alone that it was done so expertly.  He wasn't a true master with the sword yet, but he was getting close.  The longsword that was once slightly heavy to him had become light as a feather.  He'd need something heavier that dealt a lot more damage.  But that would come later.  Right now his focus was on the battle.  Ulises was sitting back observing, seeking out any weaknesses he could point out so Felix could exploit them.  One of the goblins stabbed at him and he parried it upward, using the momentum to slash at the goblin to the right and swing the pommel to the left.

The goblin to his right noticed the attack just in time, barely avoiding the tip of Retributor.  The goblin who was deflected was thrown backward from the force of the parry and ended up sprawling on the floor.  The third goblin didn't see the hit coming and the pommel of the sword struck him squarely on the forehead, sending him back stunned.  Itzal turned his attention to the goblin left unaffected and stood firm as it released a series of violent and eager strikes, desperately attempting to break Itzal's defense.  But it was to no avail and it seemed to be realizing it.  Fortunately it's partner had regained it's footing and charged forward, swinging it's blade across Itzal, aiming to cut off his head from the side.  Itzal ducked and the blade would have hit it's comrade if the goblin hadn't jumped back in time.  When Itzal was straightened he saw the goblin charge him with it's sword in both hands.

Itzal moved to parry the blow but realized too late that the goblin faked it, releasing the grip on it's left hand and reaching for Itzal's sword hand.  It did so and stabbed Itzal's chest.  It didn't actually hurt him and with it's low level and his minor three MIT it only really did one point of damage.  Still he was frustrated that it tricked him so easily.  However.  He let go of his sword and caught with his left arm and used howling octave, dealing massive damage to his foe.  It wasn't as much as he wanted yet, but it was enough to deal a good amount of damage.  The monster fell backward with a howl and Itzal grimaced as he was struck twice in the back.  He swung his blade around and knocked the two goblins away.  Itzal refocused as the other goblin's eyes flared red, hatred from being dropped into the red health zone.  Three enemies now surrounded him and one of them was almost down.  This would be quick.

The two goblins to his left struck at the same time but the clear threat was the goblin to his right.  The low health monster struck with lightning fast attacks, no longer caring if it got struck in the process.  Itzal now needed Ulises to help him keep each attack off of him, focusing on everything at once.  There was a moment however when Itzal noticed something:  A large cluster of glowing crystals and a large crystal that was strangely shaped like a magnifying glass.  He told Ulises to relay a mental message to Velnia and continued his focus on the fight.  The goblin was almost dead so he decided to finish it off.  He parried it's attack then used vorpal strike, the thrust deflecting it's incoming attack away from him, killing the mob and shattering it into pieces.  There was a cry of anger mixed with pain from the two goblins.  Itzal turned to them.

"It's your own fault you know.  You attacked first."  They growled before charging upon him again.

The two goblins roared in anger and rushed at him with fierce quick strikes, attempting to break his defenses with sheer strength, force and determination.  Itzal parried and deflected but he knew that if he kept this up he would run out of stamina quickly.  However he couldn't really do anything about it...  Unless something distracted them.  He was growing impatient when suddenly Velnia pulled through.  He saw the flash and grinned, rolling past the monsters and as their gaze followed him an intense beam of light hit their eyes, blinding them for a second.  In that second Itzal ran by and cut the goblin's sword hand making it flinch and turn to him in anger.  It did minimal damage but it also reduced the effectiveness of it's wrist, therefor making it's future attacks less accurate and making it easier for Itzal to deflect it's attacks without wearing himself out.

The monsters continued their assault but with less success then previously.  With the damage he pulled on the goblin it couldn't transfer it's rage to it's sword properly because of the injury.  The other goblin however still had it's full strength and Itzal knew he needed to injure it as well.  However it was more careful now and both refused to let Itzal slip past them, forcing them to see the blinding light again.  Thus he fell back to deflect, parry, counter while he thought about what he should do.  As he did Ulises was analyzing their weaknesses and flaws while also taking what they've already done.  In the end he told Itzal get in between them and dodge attacks that could potentially hit their partner.  Itzal did as he asked and startled the two goblins but they continued to attack nonetheless.  When one of the goblins stabbed at him he sidestepped and allowed it to pass by the other goblin.  He then struck the goblin's wrist.  Now they both were equally damaged and hindered.

The goblin who was attacked roared in defiance and struck with the same skill as if there were no wound.  This confused Itzal but he deflected the attack easily, parrying their blows as they moved away from him, pulling him out so he wasn't between them this time.  How was the goblin able to handle the same wound as it's partner?  Then he realized that it must be grief mixed with anger.  The dead goblin might have been it's best friend, spouse, or even it's sibling.  When grief and anger are high enough one can ignore all pain and will the body to push past it's injuries to complete one final task:  Revenge.  And that was what he saw in this goblin.  The reason it could push past it was because it had attachments to the dead goblin while the other didn't.  Still, even with this extra strength and surge of power, Itzal noticed that his skill was unquestionably higher than this creature.

Deflect right, dodge left, parry both, counter right, block left, grab right, stab right, slash both, parry both, the pattern continued to change as both sides attempted to gain advantage.  Itzal was good but while he was strong, he wasn't near the strength of a full tank.  And these two wouldn't let down.  They continued to hack at him over and over again, undercuts and overcuts, stabs and jabs, curved swings, kicks and punches, whatever they could use to get past his defenses.  Itzal was worried that if they were this good then if they hit the red zone they would become much more stronger than he could handle.  He decided it was time for chances.  He charged forward, letting the monsters hit him, and cut at one of the goblin's arm, landing a hit, and took a defensive position on the other side once again, preparing to stop his opponent's attempts at his life.

When they charged Velnia used the crystal again to strike the light into one of the goblin's eyes, stunning it and forcing it to halt it's charge.  Itzal swung his blade in an undercut with the flat end hitting underneath the goblin's own sword, sending it and the arm holding firmly to it, into the air and kicked his opponent away, watching the disgusting monster roll across the floor.  He was about to strike when the other goblin had managed to ignore the light and rushed in between Itzal and his partner.  The two began striking at each other furiously, each giving then forcing ground on both ends, going back and forth as dangerous blows were made and evaded.  As they fought the other goblin slowly got to it's feet and lifted it's sword.  It observed the two and decided to flank to the right.  As it did Velnia shot it with another beam of light, stunning it for a second and allowing Itzal to take notice of it.

Itzal glanced between the two and identified the one that hated him most and decided to eliminate him first as he was the bigger threat.  While his damage wasn't the best at the moment it was sufficient enough to drop the monster's health into the red zone.  He parried a few more blows before deflecting it's attack and piercing the monster's heart, shoving as hard as he could until he was almost on the goblin.  He then pulled his sword out and used Howling Octave as he dashed to stand behind the goblin.  It let out a roar as it's health reached the low peak and dashed at him with all remaining strength and energy.  It was literally in berserk mode and if Itzal did not have Niger Natio equipped he might have been forced to be subjected to the onslaught of strikes.  As it was he managed to dodge each and every one, making his way back to where large stones were.
