[F7-SP] An ubearable hunt <Feeding the Enemy>

Recommended Posts

Out again to do the near impossible, finding a familiar. Macradon was in need of this familiar, as it would greatly be used for his advantage when fighting foes. All he would need was a keen eyed fellow who could help him find weak spots in targets so he could be able to kill them faster and more accurately. With what he has with him, Macradon would reach out into the 7th floor once again, getting into the world of Aincrad and discovering what he wouldn’t be able to find other places in this castle of Aincrad. He would reach to the mountain top he usually trained at, it was quite his place, or at least he thought it was until someone showed up while he was training there. Nevertheless, it was still a special place for him, but he would take a small detour before reaching the high mountaintop.

It wasn’t the first time he had taken the quest, it was maybe the 3rd time he had tried this, maybe actually fourth. The first time was when he met Den’Um’Eal years ago, but since he was gone, all Macradon could do was to find a new familiar for him to entrust himself to. As the ground began to rumble, Macradon would look behind him and see what he was against at this time of day, and at a size that would be able to make the floor rumble like this. The creatures would appear in plain sight, and they were enormous. They were gigantic stone golems, stampeding through the forests and mountains, and Macradon was in their path. Quickly grabbing onto his sword, Scarecrow’s Sickle, he would ready himself, get into battle stance as the monsters would get closer. Macradon would use his <Charge> skill and initiate the battle. He went in with 6 destructive strikes, carving down the health of the monsters as well as applying the bleed effect of his sickle. His attack would make the four giant monsters stagger lightly, but would quickly get into stance again and quickly retaliate against Macradon. Alle four would hit at once, giving no opening for Macradon to flee, deflect or block the incoming attacks, taking in 4 heavy blows.

Even though he really wanted to strike back, it would be impossible for him, as the golems would keep on going with a flurry of blows, continuously coming at him like a gattling gun that just sprayed at him. There wasn’t much he could do, he could try to block as much as possible, but would still be hit by the others. Eventually, he would be hit by 4 heavy blows in total from the four hulking creatures standing before him. The only thing that would halt their process was his <Battle Healing> which helped him stay focused and more healthy to make sure that the monsters wouldn’t just get any free turn of damage as his bleed would slowly rack up and take down the golem’s HP. They were taken from green to yellow in one attack by Macradon, but with the bleed, they would be taken down to the red, making them easy targets for Macradon to dispose of.

Quickly flashing through what he had just begun, he was capable of figuring out the attack pattern of the monsters. It would all seem like a cluster of attacks by anyone unskilled, but Macradon has been fighting for a long time, so seeing this in front of him would give him the edge in this fight. He would quickly grab his sword in another grip, going into a more defensive pose, Macradon would begin to twirl around, doing like a dance in a small circle, he has seen the pattern of the monsters, the way they attack, the pattern they attack in and who takes what turn to attack. With that knowledge, he would be able to look at the one next to attack so he would be able to deflect that attack, and he would be able to do that to every one of them, effectively making him unable to attack back for now until he would find any opening in their attacks.

“There!” Macradon thought as he saw through their flurry of blows. It might’ve looked like a big pile of random hits everywhere, but with Macradon’s vision, he would be able to predict where and when the next attack would come, with that in his mind, he would be able to abuse the slight delay in the flurry and would retaliate quickly. A fast and quick pommel strike into one of the golems would make it crumble lightly and make the rest of the flock stagger as well. The extreme bludgeoning would be more than enough to give room for another attack for Macradon, all he had to do was to sweep once and take out the monsters as if they were nothing. Macradon would take a second to catch his breath again, now that he used <Tempest> to stun the golems. With a quick motion, Macradon would initiate another Sword Art.

While all of the golems were stunned, Macradon would position himself in a way where his blade would make contact with them all, cleaving through their stone bodies like butter. He activated his <Blast> sword art, slashing through them twice, dealing 23 damage the first strike, enough to take them down as they were already down in the red zone, but the second sweep that quickly followed dealt another 23 damage. With a critical hit also been hit, Macradon’s sword would inflict bleeding wounds, but the red pixel blood wounds would disperse together with the monsters, leaving nothing behind other than the loot they would have for him. A bunch of Col and a few mats, tier 1 mats that is. He let out a sigh as he picked it all up “I should’ve been doing some tier 2 mat hunting …” he thought as he put it all away in his inventory.

He would begin to stretch out his body, this fight was a good warmup for today, and it would probably continue along this level of difficulty when he would get through more mobs like this. Opening up his HUD, Macradon would try out something new he had just unlocked through his levels, it was the skill mod <Tracking>. Now that he knows the name of the big monsters on this floor, Macradon would try to find more of them, and take good care of them like he just did now.

Quote

What would you like to track?

____<Gigantic Golem>____

Macradon would do the inputs and begin to use his Search and Detect to look out for any clues to where other Gigantic Golems could be. Quickly glancing over the scenery, Macradon would try to find the monster’s footprints, trying to see if there was anything he could find from this new skill.

His eyes were in the same hue as normally when activating his Search and Detect, but what he saw wasn’t like the other times. His eyes could see slight indentations in the ground, small subtle changes, they were all highlighted for him to follow, which he would. “So this is how it works” he thought as he began following the trail of highlighted clues that would lead him to his next prey. Having his sword ready, Macradon would follow through the forest to an edge of a small cliff, not too tall, he would easily be able to just jump down without getting any injury. This was where he spotted his prey, the same as before, four Gigantic Golems, all just being on guard, but they probably didn’t think that Macradon would be one to sneak up on them like this. With a quick movement, he jumped down and activated his <Charge>, closing the gap between him and the monsters. At the same time, Macradon would be placed in a stance that activated his sword art <Calamity Disaster>, cleaving six times through the monsters.

The golems didn’t have too much health left, so Macradon only had to burn a bit more energy to take them out, but their sudden retaliation caught him off guard. They’re faster than the last bunch he was up against. “What is this …” he thought as he went into full defense again, but wasn’t fast enough to take on all of the golems fast attacks. They would strike him with their giant rocky fists, hitting him hard, but most of the damage would be glanced off by his armor, leaving him barely scratched by their attacks, though those attacks would’ve probably killed a lower leveled players. This was one of the reasons why he fought alone for the most part, when it wasn’t a sub-dungeon run. The attack pattern was just like the other’s they were probably all programmed like each other, but Macradon lacked one thing, it wasn’t knowledge, it was speed. He needed the speed to be able to get into their weak spots in between their blows.

Something was off. Their attack pattern was exactly the same as the ones he had fought minutes before, but why could he see something different in it, not the way or rounds they attacked in, more like they sometimes were too fast and not as synchronized as the other. They would sometimes hit each other, delaying their attacks just slightly, but not major enough to make them miss the attacks. That slight delay was what Macradon needed to abuse. A quick tumble under the golems from their flurry of clunky attacks, Macradon would throw another <Calamity Disaster> at them, killing them with his 6 sweeps of death. The loot they would leave behind was massive, double the amount in mats compared to the last batch, but the col was the same. Macradon would begin to breath heavily as he gathered the materials and col to put them away. His energy was nearly depleted completely, so he had to take a break for now.

He was happy that he begun his mob hunting close to the training peak, he would be able to quickly find a place to rest easily up there, and the view was fantastic as well, so no problem just relaxing, waiting for his energy to get filled up before he should venture out again. He would start off by quickly looking at the scenery at his current position, just so he could pinpoint where he was compared to the training peak. From what he could see, it shouldn’t be that long of a walk to the peak, maybe 5 minutes of walking to get to the foot of the mountain. The 5 minutes of walking would go by like a breeze, the terrain wasn’t too bad as large roads and paths had been made by rampaging golems like those he had been fighting. These paths were quite nice to walk on. On his way, Macradon found some kind of ore that had been knocked loose by the golems "Ooh ... I can probably use this" he said and would take it.

It did not take long for him to get to the mountain foot, only a few minutes at most. Not that much was to be done right now, alle he had to do was to relax and wait it all out, though he wanted to relax at the top, so he had to venture a bit more before he would be able to fully relax it all out. “All these possible materials, what’s with that???” he thought as he nearly every 10 minutes or so, stumbled across materials that he could use for his shop. If he kept this going, he would probably be able to use the material in his shop. Following 20 minutes of walking, Macradon would finally be able to sit down and rest, watching the midday sun strife above him. “Hm … it just gets better each time I visit” he thought and smiled, thinking about all he had been doing at this place.

Letting out a deep and heavy breath, Macradon would take in all the air that he could into his virtual lungs. This was what it felt like to be an elite, at least this was what Macradon thought of himself. He was on the frontline, he had been there for quite a while now, and he had also taken high stances at the frontlines, being a Vanguard Commander for his Guild, he has received plenty of information for these kinds of happenings. He would lean backwards using his arms as support and would stare up into the blue sky. “This place … it’s beautiful …” he thought, just looking up. He had been enjoying this place for quite a long time all alone, it was first later than he joined up with the community again, he had been grinding many levels all alone, and he kept on doing so, as he felt that was the best way to do it. And he found a material for crafting as well, it's like they're just randomly scattered places where he's at ... how convenient.

He would inhale for a few seconds and then let all the air out through his mouth in a long sigh as he slowly lowered his body so he would be laying down at the top of the mountain. He would begin to wiggle his feed a bit, for no apparent reason whatsoever. He just had to stay here and wait a bit, get everything ready and prepped. He was on a mission, that was at least his main focus, even though he had been disregarding it all this time he had been out here today. All he had to do was to find and tame a familiar, nothing else. What was he going to find anyways, he remembered Den’Um’Eal as a fighting familiar which had good stealth as well, so what was he going to find this time? Maybe something that would help him focus on his enemies, find their weak spots faster.

He was just laying there, thinking for himself when suddenly a loud noise startled him. He would roll away from the sound by his side and get back up with his hand grabbing the handle of his sword on his back. When he saw what it was, it was a small owlbear cub, screeching at him with its beak. Something was off, the owlbear was screeching, but not directly attacking, maybe it wasn’t trying to attack him, but something else. Macradon would quickly think of what mission he was on. Opening up his inventory, Macradon would grab one of the raw steaks. “I won’t harm you” Macradon said, slowly laying down the steak two meters away from him, waiting for it to approach, and it did. The small cub would slowly begin to reach the steak and gobble it up in an instant, gone. The creature was fluffy, very cuddly, but ate that meat like it hadn’t eaten for a whole year. The big gleaming eyes would stare up at Macradon, it didn’t seem like it would try to attack him. He would slowly approach with his hand stretched out. He would take small and slow steps, getting closer and closer to the owlbear. But before he had crossed 1 meter of distance, the owlbear began to approach itself and would lower its head down to Macradon’s gauntlet clad hand would touch the top of its head.

Petting the small creature on its head, Macradon would try to find out what it would be able to do, what was it capable of. Macradon would begin to slowly get it to follow him … but he also had to give it a name. “Huh … what should I name it?” he thought for himself as he stood at the road down to the bottom again. He looked back over at his newly tamed, or so it seemed, familiar. “Hm … what do you say about Snickerdoodles?” he asked his owlbear. With a fowl expression on its avian fave, it scowled at that name. “Huh, I thought it was pretty good … oh well” he said and would wave his arm to gesture that it would follow him. He had seen a group of Gigantic Golems again, so a small battle wouldn’t be a problem, it would probably also teach the owlbear how Macradon fights. A quick <Charge> would initiate the battle, followed quickly with a <Calamity Disaster>. The golems would stagger in surprise as Macradon just appeared, like out of thin air.

A critical wound would be left on the four golems as their digital wounds would shed “blood” like pixels from them, giving the effect of an open wound. This was what Macradon did with his sword, Scarecrow’s Sickle. Macradon would take in 4 hits from the golems before he would retaliate back at them to make as much destruction happen to them, but also make it as energy conserved as possible. Having his recovery proc from his necklace helped him stay stronger for a prolonged amount of time on the field, helping him slay more monsters. A quick pommel strike at the golems would make the stagger, having the stunned for a short duration, which would be long enough for Macradon’s bleed to take them out. Not much was to be done now, but something was odd. Where was his familiar? He would look back at the feet of the mountain, seeing the small owlbear cub just sit there and watch.

“What’s wrong?” he asked his small companion. “Can’t you fight?” he asked it, but maybe that was asking too much. Den’Um’Eal was born … no, created a fighter, being able to do sneaky assassinations. This lil’ feller here didn’t want to fight it seemed. It just sat there in the backline, watching, something owls did a lot. Looking at the small creature, Macradon would walk over to it, trying to see if it would do anything. “Won’t you engage into it? Or maybe you aren’t a fighter … hmm … what could you be?” he asked the small cub, but wouldn’t probably get any answer from it anyways. “Hm … should I call you by name then?” he asked and as he asked it would nod in reply “But what is your name?” he asked. Of course this was where the language barrier would be a problem, neither of them spoke the same language at all.

Macradon looked over his shoulder, looking back at the golems “Huh, they haven’t died yet? Maybe I miscalculated the bleed damage” he said out loud as the golems would begin to stampede towards him. The small owl would start out with a loud and high pitched hoot that would be heard for a long distance, followed by a loud and fear inducing howl of a bear. “That cool howl needs a cool name. What about Balthazar?” he asked the small cub, it nodded, it liked that name. Macradon smiled at Balthazar as he would begin to approach the golems. Cleaving twice through the golem’s bodies, killing them with the final strike with his sword. 2 cleaves were enough for his <Blast> sword art to deal more than enough damage to the small group of monsters, leaving them dead and incapable of doing anything else. Looking at the loot they left behind, Macradon would take what was there and put it away.

The golems were slain and Macradon had acquired a partner for his adventures “I guess my path won't be in solitude anymore” he said with a smile directed at his new friend, Balthazar. His hand would come down and gently pet the cub as the two would begin to head back to the town. Macradon had finished his mission and was successful. He had finally found a new familiar after Den’Um’Eals’ disappearance, which was great. Though Macradon still had to figure out what hi new familiar was capable of, if it could fight in a certain way or if it was just some back seat beast that just looked at the battlefield. “So Balthazar, why did you come to me all the way up the mountain?” he asked the owlbear and all it could reply with was an owl’s screech “I guess we won’t be talking then, eh?” he said with a smile on his face.
