[SP-F11] Investments

Recommended Posts

There were a lot of things that he could have done with the skill points he earned recently, and some might have seen what he had done to be a terrible investment, but it was something that would help out his shop for sure. It was called Gatherer, a scout skill that allowed him to collect more materials. The reason why he had done this was because he needed to get a lot more materials in order to keep on going in his crafts. There were a lot more attempts that he had than actual things to work with, it will soon get to a point where he would have to get rid of all the materials and still have no hope in making anything else. So he decided to go back onto the floor that he had gone up to with Itzal the other day, though he was looking to get a lot more this time than he did last time, which was going to take a lot of time for sure. But that was why he spaced out this day solely for just that alone. And so out into the fields he would go, ready to see what he invested in.

And so he would be off, going into the fields to see what he was able to get . The herb leaves was the first goal that he was aiming for, the ones that were used for medicine, but food as well. It was a little bitter ingredient at first, but it makes great for aftertaste. Placing his hands in his pockets, he would look down to the ground to see what was going to be found. There was something on the ground as well, so he would pick it up. It was the herb leaf that was expected of him to find, but it was bitter and had a hole in it, two flaws that he could not allow to get into the food that he made for his people. So he would place the leaf down, concluding that that leaf was a bad one, which was something to be expected, but it was nothing that was too new. Gatherer works already.

Seeing how the world did not really have too many herbs at the start of the safe zone, it would probably be a good idea to move further. It was a risky move, because there was definitely a chance of a monster encounter. But if he followed the path that he took with Itzal previously, he should be able to get out of there without having to deal with anything. Not once did they even get into a fight, though he himself did not get too many materials. Still, for not having Gatherer on, he was certainly able to find a good load of them, though it was not enough for him to survive longer than a day now. So hopefully he would do better, for he did not find any more of them in this current area that he was residing in. So with that, he would continue to pace his way out of there.

Continuing to move down the same path that he did last time, it turns out that he was correct. There was a path where the npc monsters would not bother them since it was clear and there was not enough time to catch him with the amount of distance between him and them. That made for an easy and relaxing walk. As he did this, he would look down and continue looking for the herb leaves. Once he did, he would pick it up from the ground and look at the leaf, examining if it had any holes in it. While it did not, it was a sudden moment later in which the game would trigger his skill, and three more of the leaves would end up within the inside of his palm. Opening his eyes with glee, he would place them in his inventory, already grateful for this bliss new skill.

If the paladin scout Itzal was correct, then that meant this it was up to percentages to make up how the materials would end up being found. They could either be beneficial for them, or unfortunately low like it usually was. 25% chances to be exact. Now if he were to bundle them up, that meant one every 4 leaves would end up having the material he was looking for. And if he were to line that up with every number, the same number or materials would be successfully obtained. So statistically speaking, if he were to get 20 materials, 20 of them would actually work. It was not the proper math, but the gatherer skill allowed him to defy the logic and obtain way more than he was supposed to. He knew this was going to work out really well, and then live long and prosper.

Unfortunately, if those were the odds, he would have to wait for a few minutes before he obtained the materials that he needed. But he actually had to be searching in the process as well an hope for the better, because standing around will just pause the chances, neither increasing or decreasing the chances. Then again,he would not do whatever would end up lowering the chances of having the materials, but nothing was really going to help him gain it either. Therefore, he was just going to have to live the the chances of two coin flips at the same time. Which is not really too bad of the odds fortunately, but still, it would be a lot more comforting if he got the materials. Beggars can't be choosers though, so he would end up placing his faith in the chances.

There were no other options for finding the items while out int he plains. If there were, they would probably not be available for him until he leveled up. The herbs were nice, but they were a little scarce as well, which was not something he was going to have too much fun with. Sey understood, it was a grinding game at the end of the day, but at least let him have a little fun with it! Or perhaps, he could make his own fun. How would he do it though? If he got into a fight, he would need to be able to get the items and materials while fighting them, and he was going to be real with himself, that was definitely not going to happen. The system won't allow such a thing to occur, despite how much the player would try. Perhaps they hide the materials while in combat.

A sudden little glow would appear on the ground, so of course he needed to go investigate it. Upon doing so, he would notice that it was a small patch of herb leaves. It was a patch, and each leaf was a material for him to use! Yes! That was exactly what he was looking for in the leaves. Placing a smile on his face, he would end up picking all of them, counting them all before coming to a final total of five leaves. Add that with the four that he had before, and already he got more materials on this floor than he did last time with the help of Itzal. It was a blissful time for him, this was a fun little game. How many materials can he gather by the end of this field trip? Now that he got that, he was able to continue with more dedication, seeing how this was already going.

More glowing on the ground, more chances to get materials! Moving his feet towards the direction of the glow, he would pick up the glow and find another set of leaves inside it, the herbs were now being stacked up. So with this amount, he should be able to last another two days. But that was not what he needed right now, he needed to get a lot more materials than this to be able to survive. Perhaps it would have been quicker to buy them off of someone, but that would defeat the reason why he even bothered to get Gatherer in the first place. With this in mind, he would collect the four leaves and place them back into his inventory, increasing the earnings from there once again. Despite not being solely a luck build, he felt extremely lucky right now.

Could he go for a streak!? It was getting more and more excitement. But when one got too much pride, they would end up not gaining any more. And it seemed like the snow-haired player was no different, which to him was a huge let down for him. It was fine though, he will live with that. Besides, if he did not find any more materials, this was definitely a good amount to be working with. Placing his hands in his pockets, he would continue to search for a minute or two, but found nothing, not even a hint of a glow later on. It seems like the game was getting back at him for not being so grateful, but that was definitely not the case. With this in mind, he would continue to look with his two violet colored eyes, hoping for some kind of next step to help him gain more materials.

He tried so hard to find the materials, and he did not really get so far. So what did it really matter in the end? What does one have to do? Perhaps it was just him being a little too impatient. After all, he did break the statistics so far, he was earlier than he should be if he did his math correctly. And being a mathmatician was something he had to be taught when he was a kid in order to become a businessman for technology. But upon thinking of that, he thought of his father once again, and that would probably bring back unwanted memories. He needed to distract himself quickly, so he would hum random notes to a song in hopes that it would get him some progress. He did not know if it would help or not, but it was the first thing that came to his mind.

The glow on the ground would show itself a good distance ahead of him! Wasting no time to getting it, he would pursue the path of the material and aim to get the mint leaves on the ground. As he got close to them, he would stop in his tracks so that he did not cause something awful to happen, mainly like stepping on them. That was going to be a nightmare of a time for him if that were to ever happen, and fortunately, it did not. Placing his body down by crouching, he would pick up the materials and watch them multiply in his palm, revealing a few more leaves for him to work with now. It brought relief to him, knowing that he was able to use them in such large quantities now. For each one he finds, he adds nearly a day of work into his pocket.

With this, he would place his hands in his pockets once again before calmly continuing to walk through the scene, looking for some more glowing lights for him to follow and take. the gatherer skill was something that he loved very much now, for it helped his profits grow even larger than it did before. Now that he was able to enter the game with a good amount of scouting abilities as well as fighting abilities, he can technically claim to be a balance type fighter and no one can argue with it. Now just because he can does not mean he should. It was definitely tough to claim to do all things, only to be weak in every aspect. He at least needed to make them all "okay" enough for people to work with him and rely on him just in case that would be needed.

The materials were not arriving once again, and Sey was beginning to think that there perhaps was a little bit of a pattern going on. It was about every one to two minutes before he picked up a few more materials and then would go back to being unable to. But he was finding it a lot more frequently, a number that most certainly went against the odds that he had placed for them. It made him wonder what would happen if he actually ended up increasing his loot chances. If he were to do this, he would end up helping himself get even more materials, though it was clearly going to take some time since the tailors were usually busy with their orders. At the end of the day everyone else had a life, and the snow-haired player was willing to come to terms with that.

There it was again, the glowing that he had been working for all of this time. "Sweet! Come here, profit!" Sey would command towards the glow with the excitement and the tone of a child as he would dash towards the material with a stupid smile on his face. Once he got to it, he would notice that the items on the ground were mushrooms, though none of them were spotted, which was a good thing. So he would take a few of those as well before adding them into his inventory. With this, he would end up having a good amount of materials for his inventory, but he felt greedy. And that was not necessarily a bad thing in this game, where life and death were both very real despite how fake everything in the game was. So he shall proceed further.

More glowing materials on the ground for him would be found as he would begin the chain, continuing to let the materials guide him. It was a blissful journey, in which he could do nothing but gain. And that was the intention behind anything, to gain something at the end of it. Well, it was not like he would stomp on others to do that, not unless they were extremely awful people and deserved it. But even then, if they were bad people who had no intention of hurting him, and they ended up paying him for something, a customer was a customer, and the customer was always right. He'd treat them to what he has to sell the same way he would give it out to anyone. Now if he had something personal with them in a negative light, why they would even bother coming to him was puzzling.

The lucky two streak has officially ended, and he was left back to suffer from a few more minutes of a drought, where he would end up doing nothing but walking around aimlessly in hopes that the game would give him mercy and show him a few more materials for him to use. Oh forget it, this was a beautiful amount of materials for his shop to use, he could go home at this very moment and sleep extremely well knowing that this was how the day went. Of course, he was not going to do that, since he was far too stubborn to let himself be doing that. So with that in mind, he would keep treking forward with a smile on his face as he would see a forest a little further away, then proceed to enter it. There should be all sorts of things located there for him to find and use.

And he was correct. There were all sorts of items around here for him to collect. there were berries, that was the first thing he was going to aim for. Taking a few of the red juicy berries from the little vines where they came from, he would pluck them one by one before the vines ran out, which gave him a total of five more materials for him to be using. That was another days worth of work right there, which was exactly what he needed. Once he had done that, he would leave the empty vines alone and keep looking around to see what else he was able to take from the forest. There were plenty more, surely, but he wanted to know how much he was able to take with him. Placing his hands in his pockets, he would look all around to see what else came up.

Another set of berries were located on a bush this time, though he would look at them to notice that something about them was really off. As in, it was not something that he would quite take with him, because he was able to tell that those provided nothing but trouble for anyone that got to eat them. they were poison berries, and not the type that one might expect. These were designed to kill if the player were to consume outside of the safe zone, and they would make anyone sick when inside of the safe zone, extremely sick to be precise about it. Shaking his head, he would not even bother touching the sadly enticing looking berries, but that was the mistake that many other players have probably made in the past. Nothing can be compromised in this game.

It was kind of hard to tell what was going to be safe to bring back with him and what would not be. the red berries that he found first were okay, he was able to use them because he knew back in the real world how he used to eat them. But the ones that were dark blue, almost purple, they were kind of tough to tell. Though he was able to notice a few white spots of them, and those were definitely nothing that the body could use, if one might understand what that meant. It was annoyingly difficult for him to pinpoint the safe ones and the ones that were insanely poisonous, so not he was going to have a cautious mind as he continued to try to look around, but sadly, from little to no avail. Maybe this was not the forest that he should be in after all if he wanted to continue progressing.
