[SP-F11] Stock Up

Recommended Posts

And that was the plan. Today, he needed to go out and gather as many materials as he possibly could in order to keep his shop running. Even if it was just for a short amount of time, he was going to keep looking so that he could get a few days of work in. It might take a little bit of time, and he understood this. But that was also better than waiting 24 hours, and he would rather not lose his progress that he worked really hard to keep. It was not going to be easy, so he decided to try to make some food for himself that would help enhance the amount of materials that he could find. Sadly enough however, he was unable to do it since he was already dealing with some orders, and it was just his final craft that finished the final order that he needed.

Sey would move out into the fields already to see what the materials would be able to provide for him today. It was going to be a short hunting day, and he was then going to get out before he was noticed. Perhaps he would have done a little bit better with some more time, but this was just a time for him to rush. As he would advance, he would already see the first little glow on the ground, alerting him of it’s existence. Placing his palms out towards it, he would swipe them from the ground to pick out the most common material that he noticed back when he was hunting for the materials the last two times. The leaves of herbs, which were good for many recipes. So he would place the four of them into his inventory before proceeding to advance further, hoping to better his shop.

The first set of herbs that he got the first time were lucky enough to be taken off from the stem just like that, but he did not seem to have a streak like he did the first time he went hunting alone with the gatherer. It was just his luck, and not even the highest of the high amounts would be able to save him from getting the unfortunate luck of being able to miss the next glow that was on the ground. It turns out, if he did not rush his way through, he would have been able to yield results from the hunt. But he was on a crunch for time, making him rush through all of it with no results to help him at the end of the day. It was unfortunate, but he was able to pull through as he would continue to push forward.

As he ran through the fields, another glow would appear, right in front of him, forcing him to stop the best he could. The lack of traction would make him slip a little bit, causing a pair of wild arms to flail around in an equally wild manner to prevent himself from falling to the ground. But once he did, he would then have his balance obtained before placing himself onto the ground by bending his knees, looking at the glow to notice that these were mint leaves that were on the ground. Sweet! So those he would pick up from the ground as well, adding a few more of those into his inventory for him to use in the future as well. With that set, the next few materials were probably within close range, and Sey finally realized this, so there would be no more need for running fortunately for him.

But for him there was no such luck it seemed. Sure, he got a good amount, but it could be better, and that was what bothered him about it. As long as there was space for him to improve, he would not stop until he got what he wanted. This was what the guild wanted from him last he checked, and so he was going to do that for them, to make them proud. So he would continue to pursue on foot, though using a walking pace rather than a running one. This would allow him to look for more materials for him to use in the future when he needed them, and because of this drive, he was able to get a days worth of materials stocked up. A day to him thanks to how much he can craft all at once, but it was still something that it noticeable.

There did not seem to be any further advancement on the materials as he would continue to move on through the fields. Herbs and mints seemed to be scarce, despite how hard he was looking for them. It did not mean they were not there though, and he should probably have a better mentality than that. So with a high head, he would continue to scout the scene, hoping that the game would at least give him a small clue as to where the next one would be. But the system probably did not know the difference between the ones who were trying to fight the monsters and the ones who were trying to get the materials. That probably figures, since the hunting was a little bit difficult to do in the first place, and hunting seemed to be easier depending on the player who went out. And for those who could sneak and hide, even better.

But it turned out that his patience would eventually pay off as the payout of the next material hunt was more than worth it, as he would end up plucking a few more of the herbs from the ground with a smile, learning that this was having a pattern with him, and if he could get the hang of the pattern, he would be very well off in this hunt. It did not mean that it was completely guaranteed, but it still meant that there was hope for him to continue getting the materials. He was nearly able to hold himself up for two days as of right now, which was something that he heavily appreciated. Placing his hands in his pockets, he was not carrying a light amount of herbs and mints on his body, which can be increased even further if he could continue searching. Still a limited amount of time though.

More mint leaves to be picked up off of the ground, another world for him to see as bliss as the reflection on the leaves with the dew that they left behind. Or perhaps that was the glow that told him that those were the materials that be needed. Regardless of what they were, they looked bliss. And so he would add them as well for him to make something out of them later. Now he probably would need some spices as well, which also came from the plants, so he was in the right place, but he needed to look hard for them. So he would proceed to continue advancing, hoping to add as many things to the inventory as he could possibly do. It was surely going to take a bit of time to get everything, so he won’t do it today, but probably finish it off tomorrow.

And because he was searching for them now instead of the leaves, he would end up finding a few more of the ingredients popping up a few seconds later. This would allow him to pluck a few spices from those areas and use them in order to make some real meals. All he really made were desserts that had a huge addiction to rum, and some snacks as well. His creativity seemed to be a small amount currently unfortunately. On the plus side, he could expand that further now that he was able to get the materials needed to give the good he makes flavor. All of those sweet treats no longer had to go to waste. After all, it got to the point in which he was able to make the smile cookie, a stupid idea that actually obtained it’s own little special effect, which to him still blew his mind.

The more items to add onto his tray, the better. The game most certainly have thought so, as many new doors were opening and he would collect through them all. The feeling of having so many items at his disposal was something that he truly enjoyed and would actually like to do often. Of course, this was a wonderful fantasy, for everything needed to eventually end. It was as if he were powerful without all of the stats, but being able to find all of the things needed in order to make power items. Sure, drops were available, but only to those who have a lot of searching potential. Sey was not one of them yet, and neither were many other players. In fact, he had only met one scout throughout the game, and that scout was the paladin of the guild that he was soon to get inside of.

The streak must eventually come to an end, for all good players, they eventually ended up with their time. While he was having such a good time, it seems like the glows would begin to go out one by one. Whether the animals like ants began to eat through them, or simply because they have gone past the point of no return and eventually became expired, they were now no longer available or safe for anyone to eat. So with this in mind, he would see nothing again, which left him confused since he now had no idea where to look for the herbs or the mints, or what he should be finding now. If he were to go too far, he would end up in the night without any night vision, making his sight far too useless and the night vision was something he’d be forced to get… If he even had the skill points, which he did not.

Did it not take a while to get the materials? That was a question that those who did not have the gathering skill or anything that was worth any loot chances were able to ask themselves, probably a lot more than once as well. It was an unfortunate case as well, he did not like to search for things without any help, it was why he was only able to get so many things back when he was looking with Itzal, who tried to get him some things and give him some advice on doing it, but Sey only left with a handful of materials. At the end of the day, he just needed to work on his stats and skills to bend the way that they were supposed to, so that he was able to provide a good amount of support for the future when fighting against the floor bosses.

But eventually, a blind squirrel is able to find a nut. Did it take a lot of time? It felt like an infinity for that to happen. But it was bound to happen. That the was case when he successfully found a few more viable items that allowed him to progress further in the shop with the materials being successfully obtained. They were just some berries from a little plant, a small amount, but there were a good handful of them. And the best part was that they were not shining, which was a good sign to show that they were not holding a lethal amount of poison in them or anything. With this out of the way, he would place them into his inventory and place his knees straight back up. Placing his hands in his pockets, he would look to the HUD screen statistics to see what he had now.

And so let all of the berries come along as there were more, though they were not from the plant, but from the ground. Plenty of them as well, showing that he was able to handle them easily without any trouble. Seeing how they were about to ripen though, he needed to start picking them up from the ground as quickly as he could before they could turn black. In the real world, it would take far too long for them to end up in this state. In this game, that might just happen is about a couple of seconds before just shattering to pieces of data. For once, it was the real world that had the better feature to it, the fruit that was able to resist air. And apparently a plant was able to make it immune to this same air. The game logic was most certainly the best.

But his only hope would be shattered at the point as the berries would do the same thing, ending with the same result as he expected and mixing in with the air before becoming nothing. Nothing, like a good waste of materials and he ended up getting nothing out of it. On the plus side, the HUD screen showed that he had a good 32 materials so far, which if he did his math well enough, he would have nearly 5 days worth of work there. But it was still too early to call it quits. There was still enough time to pursue the goal of making a lot of materials off of this, and this amount was certainly a good amount thanks to the fact that it was more than what he was able to start with in the first place, and that was definitely a lot, despite the experience.

But it seems that with a few berries came a few more items along as well, as there were some ants trying to carry some leaves or herbs as well. It was kind of hard to see a moving glow so that was what caught his attention at the corner of his eye. When he turned his body around, he would see that they were trying to get away with the materials that now belonged to him. Yes, anything that he saw that were materials belonged to him, despite him not being the first one to get there. So he’d rush the ants quickly and pick up the leaves that they were holding, blowing gently to get them off of his leaf before placing them into the inventory, making them materials now. He should be set for a good amount of time, but there was a small window of time for him left.

With a packed backpack, he was set to go back home. While in the fields though, he can still pick up anything if they just so happened to by lying around waiting for him to collect. He had a feeling that might not be the case, but it was a possibility. So with this possibility being… Well, possible, he would continue on with a small smile, very satisfied with the work that he was able to get done today. It would not take too long for him to get out of there as he would then begin to get towards the safe zone, the gates were beginning to close, but walking alone should help him. Another glow would appear, revealing a few roots that were able to provide a bit of health to the food that he planned to make. No need to kill his customers off with a heart attack now.

No such luck though as he would end up pursuing a little bit further before finally making it over to the gates, and there were no more materials for him to collect for today. Progression was successful, and he would make the crafts tomorrow while he still could. It brought him hope knowing that he was able to progress without stopping in his tracks. It would have been annoying to deal with something as stupid as having no materials to work with in the first place. It would go against what he invested his points in, and he hated to go against what he worked hard to build. It was a little bit of a businessman instinct, when they see money fly out of the window, they can’t help but feel angry at whatever caused it, and in this case, it would have been himself had he not known any better.

So that was the end, he needed to get back to his shop so that he was able to organize the materials. That meant leaving the floor though, and the teleporter was a little bit of a good distance away. Still though, he would make his way towards the center where he would find one small version of it, thanks to a good friend of his being able to locate it for him during the night time. Getting outside during the night brought out a lot of risk, and the shelter of the safe zone never felt better. Players still could kill each other, but no one earned his trust right now, and no one can force him into a duel while he was not looking. Therefore, they can’t manipulate the total loss dueling system against him. Not right now at least, which was enough for him until he grew stronger.

Eventually, he did find it later on and bring himself back to the floor in which he belonged. It was the first one, which was funny enough considering his level but that was where he put his shop, and nothing else was able to provide him a good amount of col for pricing and a house. It was just something not possible for him unless he went col hunting, and thanks to the health and his damage infliction, it was extremely tough. Placing his hands in his pockets, he would end up going back to the first floor shop in which he owned, opened it up, and would then lock it behind him as he would then begin to organize all of the newfound materials that he had found. It was a successful day for him indeed, and now it was all over, as much pleasure at that brought to him.
