{SP-F4} Forsaken Legacy Part 2

Recommended Posts

Itzal was approaching a hallway where he would be no doubt fighting the next wave of monsters.  He needed to recover his energy quick enough.  While he was recovering he continued to scan for any materials he could use.  After all, he tried to be as active as possible.  And besides, he needed to keep his detection skills sharp, with or without the skills themselves.  When he fought Fearx he'd be needing far more than what he had right now.  His scout skills were useful as well, able to spot any weaknesses, vulnerabilities, techniques, etc.  Itzal would not lack anything when he fought Felix in the end.  Itzal spotted another four materials and looked at his energy meter.  It was just about full so he drew his sword again, ensured that his armor was on correctly, and moved forward into the hallway.  When he did he saw two golems attached to the walls and ready to activate and attack.

Itzal was about to activate the charge skill when the golems launched fireballs with insane accuracy, blasting him back several feet and dropping his health.  Itzal shoved his blade into the ground to keep from sliding too far and growled.  He stood up straight and ran at them, avoiding the fireballs when he needed to, and once he was close enough used the charge skill...  At an angle so that he launched into the air.  Itzal activated Shadow Explosion on the two golems and dealt a total of one hundred and forty damage to each of them individually.  The golems tried swinging their metallic arms at him to harm him, right after he had attacked them, and hit him in the back.  He was so glad there was no pain in SAO, otherwise he'd have deadly burns and a broken back.  Luckily that wasn't the case.  Instead he only lost over three hundred health which was not any improvement...  Well when compared to the pain it was a great improvement, but he only had three more hits before he was sleeping with fishes.  He'd rather not do that.

OOC note:  Using new rules combat/skill rules from this point forward.  Dungeon rules unchanged since I'm over halfway through

Itzal pushed himself back onto his feet as he thought about this situation.  He would need to evade these monsters three times to keep from dying, but he'd rather avoid getting hit period.  He already had a lot of health to regenerate after all.  Over three hundred points of health.  Perhaps if he fought some really weak monsters, then his battle healing could stay activated, and he wouldn't be in danger at all.  However, he needed to focus on taking down these two golems first and foremost.  He ran at them again, this time focusing on evading their attacks, and released Shadow Explosion, knocking out more of their health, only two or three attacks needed to finish these monsters off.  Once that was done, and he regenerated his energy again, he could find some small fry to speed up his health recovery.  Then he noticed that his health increased at a slower rate.  What?  Instead of forty five health it was thirty seven points of health.  Dang it all....

The golems were becoming more and more aggressive.  They moved in to attack him but failed as he dodged at the last minute.  Yet they were no longer functioning as two working as one, but as individuals.  In other words, before hand they would only land and hit together since the mobs were tied as a group.  Now however it felt as if he were fighting two individual groups, each using their own unique tactics.  There were greater chances of him being hit now because of it.  And at the same time, lesser chance of him hitting them.  Something was different.  Not just with how they were acting, with the system itself.  He rushed at them and released Shadow explosion.  He managed to get a hyper critical on the first of the golems, but the second one dodged him completely by rolling out of the way and launched a fireball onto him, dealing a hyper critical.

The impact launched Itzal back and into the wall.  The golem gave him no time to rest as it launched blast after blast which he had to avoid quickly else he'd be hit.  That's when it appeared in front of his hud:  It was a systems update.  Of course it was.  Right when he was in the middle of a dungeon, soloing it no less, a system update had to come that apparently changed how combat would be working.  He somehow felt like dungeons would be effected by this, but due to the fact that he was dead in the middle of one, he probably wouldn't be seeing those changes just yet.  Perhaps they would change after he cleared it?  At any rate he needed to push on.  He released Shadow explosion once he had the chance, dealing damage to both but not yet slaying them...  Yet.

The first monster wasn't paralyzed anymore, and started by attempting another attack on Itzal with a fireball.  Itzal rolled out of the way and used his blade to deflect the punch of the second golem.  Change in the system or not, he was not about to let this dungeon bring him down.  He needed the col, namely for getting a house for Kasier and himself.  He needed the materials to give to others, namely players who could craft consumables for the front lines.  He needed the gear so that he could find well enhanced items that players could use, maybe even get a unique enhancement among them.  He also needed the skill points that were granted at the end of this dungeon.  This system change would not be beating him any time soon.  He released Meteor Strike on the second mob, leaving the first to die from bleed.

The second golem doubled it's speed, intent on getting a hit on him... That or just picking up the first golem's job since it was dead now, the life source drained out of it's mechanical systems thanks to the bleed enhancement.  Itzal focused on parrying and deflecting the golem's attacks, and slowly waited for the opportunity to counter attack.  The time would come soon he just needed to be patient.  Actually, if Itzal thought about it, he wondered if the system would ever send an update for housing out at any point in time.  If it did, he hoped it happened before he bought a house.  He would hate to purchase one only for the system to send it and his col back due to there being changes.  That would really suck.  Then he saw his chance and activated meteor strike again, finishing the mob off.  Itzal then looked at the loot he received.  Bonus col and materials, perfect.  He needed them the most.  That was eight out of ten mobs.

Itzal leaned against the wall and started to breath more calmly.  He opened up the update menu and began looking through the changes.  One of the biggest one changed was combat, and how the chances of hitting were individually, not against each target like he could before.  This meant that there was not only a better chance for him to dodge, but a greater chance for them to hit him as well.  There would be fluctuation in damage and thus he couldn't rely on general idea anymore, as the chances varied greatly.  Still, he needed to fight two more golems before he could fight against the boss.  and to do that he'd need not only his energy, but some more health as well.  Because of this, he may be wandering for a little while.  No time like the present he thought, and pushed off the wall so that he could go ahead and scout around for materials.  So far he wasn't seeing anything.  Maybe if he was wearing his coat but he would rather be on the safe side and wear his evasion armor.

He continued to look at the update and saw the dungeons did in fact update.  And he frowned at what he saw.  He would only be able to get stronger if he went to dungeons that were higher up.  Floors on which he would die if he went alone.  Dang it all he thought to himself.  Well it's a good thing he took this dungeon now.  He kept reading through it and saw that health outside combat regeneration had updated, as well as the survival skill.  It now allowed him to gain forty five points of health outside combat every now and then.  He smiled.  Well at least it wouldn't take forever and ever to regenerate his health before the next battle.  He ran some calculations in his head real quick.  At this point only six more health boosts before he would be maximum health again.  Then his health boosted real quick and he renumbered it to five.  Honestly he wondered if he should just wait two more times and go after the final pair of mobs.  He scanned the area but once again, nothing.  "Hey Velnia, check up ahead to see if there's any materials nearby ok?"

Velnia curled up on his shoulder and nuzzled against him.  He chuckled and stroked her, but quickly shook her out of it (figuratively not literally) "Velnia come on!  We need materials and we need to keep looking for the mobs!"  Velnia nodded and shot around the hallways.  Itzal started walking himself, wondering how he got into this mess in the first place.  He sighed as he walked and walked.  This city was impressive, but it was also massive and thus hard to walk around and navigate.  He was so tired he'd forgotten about Fearx.  Fearx of course, was watching him but decided not to interfere this time.  A second one may make Itzal reckless, and with this new update making things difficult, he couldn't have that.  No he couldn't.  Itzal started thinking about the house he and Kasier were going to get.  It was going to cost a lot of col, so thankfully he'd collected quite a bit thus far.  Hopefully things would be a lot easier once he was out of this dungeon.  He liked the idea of just going back to his shop and sitting in front of the fire for the rest of the freaking day.  In fact his limbs relaxed just thinking about it.  Then he saw some materials and scooped them all up, adding them to his inventory.

Soon enough Velnia came back again and landed on a column nearby.  "Did you find any materials for us to use, or sell?  Or give if need be?"  She grinned sheepishly, telling him she didn't.  He caught up to where she was before, but as he did so he looked again for any materials.  Unfortunately, once again, he found nothing.  At least he had the gatherer skill so he could get four materials per find rather than just a measly one.  He reached the wall where Velnia was and peaked around the corner.  Up ahead were two golems, far more massive than the previous ones.  These were at least ten feet tall with a lot of strength packed into them.  He turned to Velnia and whispered to her, "They just don't give up do they?  Gotta make them better and better."  Velnia shrugged with a grin and he turned to look at the boss again before sighing.  Better sooner than never he supposed.  He rushed in to fight them.

Itzal activated charge and the two golems came to life immediately.  He slashed at them both but only managed to hit the one on his right.  Which of course he was holding on his sword on his right hand.  That told him that only his best skill was going to help him here.  The golem he had struck received a critical hit, but before he was paralyzed he shot a fireball out of his shoulder canon, knocking Itzal back.  Right back into the other golem who struck him with one of it's balled hands.  Itzal crashed into the wall and fell to the floor.  His health had dropped by nearly three hundred and fifty health.  He needed to avoid getting crits on him.  And try to keep them paralyzed as long as he could....  Maybe he should use a stun sword art the next round just to stay safe.  And to even the playing fields a bit.

Itzal was able to get back up on his feet just in time.  The second golem shot a fireball at him and he narrowly dodged it by rolling to his right.  Unfortunately the golem wasn't giving him any time to get back on his feet and stay on his feet.  It was narrowly missing him each and every time, but kept him forced from running up and striking.  Itzal was getting tired of this so he whistled to Velnia.  The purple dragon flew around the golem and struck at it's neck, hoping that there was something loose that she could strike and either A) damage it or B) at least distract it.  Surprisingly she wasn't able to do either of those things.  The golem was heavily armored everywhere save for the front, which was the most dangerous area.  Velnia was good but she wasn't that good.  Still, when you feel a fly you react.  That reaction gave Itzal the chance he needed, and thus was able to land the stun art on the monster.  Once he had done so, however, he saw the other one was no longer stationary.

The golem started to move and Itzal had to be quicker than it.  He really was given no chance to rest at all as the monster continued to barrage him with strikes.  Pretty soon Itzal came up with a thought.  He'd need to use the stun sword art again to knock this guy down once more.  When he did, he'd use the meteor strike sword art on the other guy as soon as he could.  Then he'd use Shadow Explosion until their stun cooldown wore off.  When it did he'd just stun them again and keep up the pattern.  He'd probably use that same pattern for the boss as well.  He charged under the golem's next blow and released Nova Ascension on it from below.  When he did the monster froze up and fell.  He also saw the, bleed and...  Paralysis mark appear....  Well if he'd known he'd land the effects, there would have been no need for the stun sword art dang it.  Oh well  no use now he supposed...  Especially since the second golem was getting back up on his feet.  He really was getting tired of this, figuratively and literally.

The monster shot a fist down at him immediately, which Itzal had to backflip out of the way in order to avoid.  He was planning to lauch back up and land on the monster's hand, being brought back naturally and lashing out at it's face....  But that was impossible seeing as how the golem followed up the punch with another attack, namely it's fireball.  He rolled to the right, then jumped over it's next punch only to get knocked back by the wind of the sheer force.  He pressed his feet against the wall and pushed off of it, coming in close enough to release Meteor strike on the monster.  Unfortunately for him, the golem raised it's arm up and used the heavily plated arm as a shield to block his attack.  Making his sword art a failure.  He really needed this mob to just shatter already, or he would take forever here.  He wouldn't die, that was never going to happen.  He made a promise after all...  At any rate he needed a way to speed this up.

His energy was beginning to get really, really low.  Which of course wasn't a good sign at all.  He needed to actually hit these mobs for crying out loud, and if he didn't then he was going to be soooo pissed.  He rushed at them again and released Shadow Explosion.  He started with the one that had just got up and while he did hit the mob, it had pulled up both of it's arms as a shield and blocked the attack, getting knocked back...  What, like a centimeter?  It wasn't much at all but it did distract the monster.  He then redirected his attack to the second one which had launched a fireball.  He leaped over the attack and struck from above, dealing a hyper critical and dealing up to one hundred and fifty three points of damage, as well as applying bleed and paralysis.  Finally, his luck was coming back... ish.

With the monster now paralyzed, Itzal could focus on the other one.  When he turned around however he was met with a wide swipe from the golem's arm, knocking him over into the wall.  When the impact was over, Itzal was at eight hundred and nineteen points of health left.  That was fine as he had been gathering health with his battle healing skill.  And besides, it gave Itzal the perfect chance to make a counter strike.  He released Meteor Strike on the monster right afterwards, as a wide strike like that left him open.  He dealt a good deal of damage, but not enough to finish it off.  He had to be careful how much energy he used up now, as he was nearing his limits.  So far he was hating this new combat system as it made AoE skills sooo freaking hard to use.  He needed to start stratigizing again, and decide which sword art was the best option for him to use..  Should he risk using Shadow Explosion again?

Itzal continued to shoot around the golem, attempting to keep out of it's attack range.  He barely evaded a fireball that was sent off by the second one, that was no longer paralyzed.  This could be bad if he didn't do something.  Soon enough he figured that he may as well use his AoE sword art again.  It would reduce his energy greatly, but at the same time he'd be attacking both and he did  have plus three accuracy boost.  Hopefully he'd have better luck.  He released the sword art and struck the first golem, then rushed immediately to the second one and struck it as well.  Neither of them hit him, which was a relief, and he noticed that he finished off the first golem and reduced the second one's health down to a point where he could one shot it with his Meteor strike sword art.  Finally this battle was over at last!

The golem made an attempt to strike him but, once again, Itzal managed to narrowly evade the attack and instead released the sword art Meteor strike around it's attack, managing to land the final hit.  It ended up being a critical hit too, so even if the attack somehow failed to defeat it, the bleed would have been placed, as well as paralysis, and he would have absolutely no issues at all.  Yakimba was such a useful weapon and Itzal loved having it.  He only wished there was a way to upgrade it's tier as soon enough it wouldn't be as useful otherwise.  Oh well, there wasn't much he could do about it really.  At least he was able to use it to it's full potential currently right?  After the attack he stopped and leaned against his sword as he rested.  The loot popped up and showed that he received one material and a rare weapon.  As well as the typical one thousand eight hundred and ninety col.  In total he had twenty three thousand, five hundred and ten col.  One heavy armor, two consumables, one rare weapon, twenty eight materials, and one mithril.

Itzal watched as not only his energy rose up, but also his health.  He figured that he should wait longer this time until his health was fully restored as well.  By his calculations, that could take a while but it would be worth it.  He didn't want to be destroyed by the boss after all.  (OOC it would take 8 posts) Then again....  He recalled how dungeons worked and the boss would be far, faaar weaker than these other monsters.  Namely it was because these were loot leveled, but the boss would be leveled to the floor itself.  Even in his weakened state he could probably just fight it.  Alright he figured he'd go ahead and fight it, but first he wanted to see if there was a chest nearby.  Pretty soon he did indeed find one and grinned when he saw it.  He whistled to Velnia who flew over and landed on his shoulder.  He pulled out his lock picking tools and chuckles.  "Let's see what's inside Velnia."
