Gathering for the Greater Good [F21 - PP: PM to join]

Recommended Posts

[OOC: Any materials you find will not be yours, but will go towards crafting items for the upcoming boss raid.]

Shield stood by the entrance to the mining settlement of Tomoika. Around him, the faint glow of a myriad luminous crystals bathed the cavernous twenty first floor in uneven patches of multicolored light. He crossed his arms, taking to pacing as he waited for others to join him, keeping his eyes peeled for anything of significance. It was not unheard of for materials to manifest themselves sporadically even in well-traversed areas.

Unfortunately, this did not seem to be the case, at least for the moment. Instead, he contented himself with going over the notes from the meeting. There was an extensive list of items that the players would need to have ready before stepping into that boss room. Shield recalled the glimpse he had seen on the way out of the labyrinth, of people frozen in great crystals like those all around him. He did not want to join them if he could at all help it.

I hope Itzal gets here soon. We have a lot of work ahead of us.

Itzal arrived almost right after Shield had, making his way across the floor in his purple trench coat with Velnia darting this way and that, behind and around stones and plants and structures, poking her head all over the place, looking for materials while looking absolutely adorable doing it.  And she didn't even try to look adorable this time.  This was why Itzal nicknamed her the goddess of cuteness from time to time.  Itzal's eyes were sharp as he scanned the area for any tier three materials.  To most people on the outside he would appear focused, and nothing more.  In reality however he was seething with rage.  Not too long ago at all Itzal had learned that a player named Death Adder had killed a good friend of his:  Beatbox.  He wanted nothing more than to let the anger out, but he couldn't with people around him.  He didn't want to scare them or anything.  Instead of finding materials he spotted Shield.  He took a deep breath to calm himself enough in order to smile the way he used to.  He waved to Shield.  "Hey man!  How've you been?"

Searching for Mats
ID# 88225 results: Loot: 17 + 5 = 22 - Success! +1 Material

Party total: 1

Shield gave Itzal a nod as he arrived. It had not been long since their meeting, only the previous day as it was. In all reality, Shield had yet to recover from the previous day. Between quelling arguments between friends and comforting those who needed it, there had barely been time to deal with his own grief. Still, there was no time to allow the seams to show. He would have more time soon enough, but for now, there was work to do.

"It's been rocky," he answered honestly, which he knew Itzal would have to agree with. Still, he kept his features neutral, keeping his eyes peeled for that which they came for: usable materials.

Even as he greeted his guild mate, he noticed a faint glow on his shoulder, which was the telltale sign that his earring, Finder's Keeper, had detected something useful. He turned his eyes to the ground, scanning until he discovered the source. A patch of dense moss clung to a nearby stone, most likely an alchemical reagent of some sort. He knelt, tapping the patch to bring up an interface menu, and selecting the option to collect the material. In a brief flash, it vanished into his inventory.

"Another day... another day not spent moving forward on floors." she had thought to herself, for some bizarre reason, Ruby hasn't been very active when it comes to gaining levels or anything to help her get back onto her feet. She knew joining KoB was a shot in the dark for her to do, but she just wanted a place... to call home really. "Welp, time to get my lazy butt out there and doin' some stuff I suppose." she had said stretching opening her inventory to put on whatever gear she had that Birdie had given to her. She had looked around, she didn't really have a specific direction to head to, she mainly just wanted to head in a specific direction and only move that way. Eventually as fate would catch up with her, she had eventually ran up to a familiar face and a unfamiliar face, she could recognize one to be Itzal, however the other man she didn't recognize, she doesn't know if she wanted to confront them or not, however she remained in eye sight.

Itzal listened to Shield's response and nod solemnly.  He would usually be tightening his fist by this point, but ever since the meeting he hadn't had any time alone to fuel the fire.  If he was at home Kasier was with him, and he certainly didn't want to bother her with this burden of his.  If he went out, he ended up encountering someone.  He had to bury his feelings of anger and wrath.  "Yeah...  I understand what you mean."  Then Itzal's detect mod went off, informing him that another player was nearby.  Itzal turned around until he spotted Ruby, the player whom Itzal and Kasier helped out.  Who would have expected this he thought?  He managed another smile and waved to her.  "Hey Ruby!  It's been a while!  How have you been?"  Itzal spotted another four materials and added them to the full count.  They now had five in total, and they would be receiving much more of it soon enough.

Searching for Materials

ID# 88257 results: Loot: 1 + 5 = 6 - No materials (5 total)

Shield greeted the newcomer with a nod, though he did not wear the smile that his comrade had adopted. It wasn't that he was mean-spirited, but he was not naturally a a terribly friendly person to those he did not know. Doing his best to at least maintain formalities, he spoke.

"Shield," he said, keeping his eyes in the newcomer's general area as he continued to search. Itzal seemed comfortable enough with her, so he doubted she'd start any funny business, but he still did not know her. "Itzal and I were gathering crafting materials for the upcoming boss raid."

Unfortunately, at least for the moment, he could not exactly find anything new to demonstrate the so far success of their search, so he had to content himself with continuing to sweep the area with his eyes and hoping that Finder's Keeper would find something new to which to react.

"Find something pal?" The blue-haired fencer weaved through a dense patch of overgrown fungi, keeping mindful of any thorny bushes that lived off what little light the mushrooms provided. Although a small prick afforded her 1 point of health, she soon reached the edge of the miniature mushroom forest and emerged with no additional injuries. Birdie's brow rose as she turned her gaze downwards, being met with a peculiar sight; Her ghostly wolf-dog with his snout obscured by a giant glowing mushroom, obviously chewing on something. "...What are you... no-no, come on!"

While her familiar was great at identifying materials, she sometimes wished he wasn't so curious with his finds. A small fortune of crafting materials had been the target of his insatiable appetite- despite the canine's snacking, they all seemed to be intact and worthy of gathering, and she swept them up with a refreshed sigh. "What am I gonna do with... you?"

She turned towards where her familiar (last) was. He wasn't there.

~~~
The Ethereal Canine left behind a wispy trail as he bolted along the path. His nose guided him towards a small gathering and a familiar playmate, eyes widening twofold as the purple dragon entered his view. Hoping to catch Velnia by surprise, Sirius sprinted and leapt towards her at the final moment, his paws aimed forwards for a tackle.
"Sirius!... Dang it, where'd you go boy!" A voice called out in the distance.
(OOC: Sirius for reference).
