They were coming up on the end now. With the guard having fallen all the way into his lowest portion of his health bar, the color had changed to an angry red. With no other options in front of it, it forewent the process of making speedy attacks, instead swinging wildly between the players to try to put up as much damage as possible. In the midst of the flailing, Shield managed to complete the gear adjustments, swapping out his sword for a real weapon, one which he had only used on occasion. Its damage was fairly unimpressive, but the jagged edges of the axe's blade could rip chunks out of flesh to cause great bleeding wounds.

Most of the attacks landed on Shield rather than Hestia, which was fine with him. His mitigation was lower than it had been, but with Hestia there to heal, he doubted the guard would survive long enough to see him even get low enough on health to even matter.

I glance towards my shield that i wield and sighs softly knowing that i can't attack without risking the chance of me paralyzing the enemy which would only lower the total damage output as i just wait to see what happens allowing my energy to recover itself as i just get my stance ready for when i need to do vengeful riposte if i will even need to use it again. I check over the guard and sees that the creature seems to be breathing heavily and slowly approaching its last legs in terms of what it could handle. I just smile at that as i relax slightly, but always keep my shield wielding arm ready to deflect and attack if need be not going to allow some mob to catch me by surprise. That is the very least my hopes when it comes to this fight. I gaze towards beat and sees him lost in fight as i frown wondering what has been going on with this supposed unstoppable force of damage that he can be. 'Did he let that damage get to his head, and the loss of that drop from the boss bothering him a lot?' I wonder to myself in thought.

There was so little left of the guard's health. The cool down timer on Shield's riposte was nearly full. He held a weapon with actual potential to deal damage. Even the most recent bout of Envenom had not yet finished dealing its damage. Even without his extra padding, there was no real danger left in this fight. Shield breathed a sigh of relief, stepping forward with his axe raised. He was no surgeon with his weapon, but for the kind of damage he hoped to do, he would not need to be. Unfortunately, as he stepped into his attack, the guard read his motions, easily side-stepping him and stabbing into Shield's side with the spike atop his halberd.

Shield gave a nod, which Lilith took as a hint and made yet another appearance, biting into him to boost his health back up to make up for the lack of defenses. There was only a thin sliver of health remaining now. "One parry left. Who's going to be your target?" Shield asked the guard, his voice mercurial and quizzical, as if either choice would result any differently from the other. "Such choices!"

I look towards the bleaksowrdsman as it dodges shield's attack not finding that surprising since the tank player doesn't seem the type to use a weapon all that much if at all, and myself knowing that feeling of trying to get back into combat with a bladed weapon and then failing horribly. I chuckle slightly as i just wait for the swordsman to most likely just end up killing himself on Shield, and with that thought in mind i just sit down upon the ground to wait for the fight to end. Figuring that if the guard's health is displaying correctly it would die by Shield's thorns most likely then anything else. I gaze back towards beat still seeing him not there at all as i sigh softly wishing i could try to slap him to awareness, but having the threat of being turned orange if i attempt to hit any green cursor player thus making it difficult to try such ideas in this moment.

This was it. Unless the foe were to miss entirely, the fight was settled. Shield reversed the grip on his axe, holding the handle with the head extending down towards the ground out of the bottom of his hand. As the foe made one last desperate attempt to stun Shield, perhaps hoping to make an escape, it enveloped its weapon once more in the dark, shadowed aura of its signature attack. It swung, but Shield swung as well, catching the handle in the curve of his axe and pulling the offending weapon off-course entirely. It grazed his shoulder, still sending out its signature shock wave, but with a twist of his wrist, he snapped the halberd, doubling the weapon's head back towards its owner and impaling the guard through the chest.

The enemy shuddered, its whole body seizing up, and with one last strangled scream, it burst, sending colorful motes of light in all directions. One by one, they melted into the air until nothing was left in the hall but the three players. Shield straightened up, turning to the open boos room door. He stepped up to the entrance and peered in side. There was a lot to take in, but most evident was the multitude of seats and the curious items placed at each spot.

"This looks... messy." He turned to Hestia. "It's time we tell you everything. Originally, Beat and I had hoped to attempt this fight alone. You would have been welcome to join. I was honest about my motivations before. The front lines are... moving slowly. It's a big concern. Beat and I had hoped to inspire players to take initiative, and to push forward with more intention but..." He looked over the room once again. "I don't like it... There are too many X-factors. If we're going to try to solo-team a fight, it needs to be a different one. For now, we fall back."

With that, he turned his back on the boss room and started back towards the labyrinth entrance. It was time to gather everyone and start planning once again.
