[SP-F13] Dead Bois (Solo Guild Grinding)

Pinball's boots kicked up small clouds of dust as he ran across the wastelandish 13th floor. In one hand he loosely gripped the quarterstaff he had picked up on one of the earlier floors. It had no fancy enhancements, but Pinball found that it got the job done; especially when it opened up an equipment slot for the fish scale dangling around his neck. It was supposed to help him farm, and Pinball was finally of a mind to test it out. 

Before long, Pinball stopped for a breath. He stood in a rather large looking graveyard, every inch of which was seemingly littered with tombstones. With a small smile, he finally turned to face the crowd of monsters he had led here, pleasantly surprised to see more still joining the cluster. The humanoid figures stared right through him, purple mist spilling from the corners of their dry mouths. "Alright," he grunted, holding the staff in both hands. Let's see how many I can fight off without having to run away.

Pinball took a step back, his weapon raised. The horde began to approach him, and Pinball picked out four individuals out of the congregation. I'll focus on them first, he decided, looking over the cluster of mobs once more, then I'll jog back around and take out those three. Pinball then stood his ground, waiting for the shambling monsters to get close enough to hit. As soon as the mobs were more or less within striking distance, Pinball threw himself forward, his spear (or staff, rather), glowing white hot. He unleashed a quick AoE, his attack successfully inflicing decent damage on three of the mobs. He missed one entirely, however, and in that moment of realization, one of the "zombies" lashed out at him with a chipped, rusty sword. The slash caught him across the shoulder, and his health dropped accordingly. I deserved that, he grimaced, and there's no healer to back you up here. Don't forget that.

He had just taken them for zombies up until now, but Pinball hadn't been able to get a decent enough look at them until now. They still wore strips of what looked to be rotting leather armor, and they held weapons, albeit rusty and chipped ones. That makes it interesting, Pinball lamented, knowing he didn't have much experience with armed mobs. He mostly fought creatures; wolves, bears, giant bugs, giant monkeys. The works. This was, while not new, a fresh experience. 

With his wound still fresh and causing him worry, Pinball didn't jump into the fray like he had previously. He stepped forward only to strike the ones closest to him. His attacks landed successfully, and he hadn't been hit by any of the group, but he had only hit two, and Pinball frowned. I'll need to do better than that.

While fighting always presented Pinball with a thrill, he couldn't help but think that the way he was going about farming was a bit rash. He had gathered a horde of monsters, and so far, he had managed to focus on a select number of them. Glancing briefly over his gauges, though, and he realized that his energy was dropping significantly with each of his attacks. What's worse was that without his freeze effect readied, Pinball seemed to get hit a lot more often. I see how it comes in handy with things like this, he acknowledged. Swallowing his worry for the moment, at least, Pinball threw his efforts into another attack.
