[SP - F1] A fresh set of ingredients <<Nature's Treasure>>

Recommended Posts

It had been some time since Neo had gotten new ingredients for her restaurant, and she was running low. She had heard of some NPCs talking about a garden on the first floor where resources were abundant, and she wanted to check it out. There wasn't much specific information to go on, so Neo had to look for some time before stumbling upon it. Once inside, she could tell that there were many things here ready for harvest.

Guess I don't ned to worry that much about finding ingredients, I should be able to get plenty here. I'm not sure what the quality of things are in this place, but it couldn't be that bad if the game is almost forcing the hints down my throat.

Neo went to find something to hold all the ingredients in, when she remembered that she only needed to put them into her inventory. Lamenting about the slight drop in the game's realism, Neo went to work looking for ingredients.

Neo decided to just look around the entrance to see if there was anything immediately in reach, but the area seemed to have ben picked clean. As she looked around, she remembered that she had grabbed some food from her restaurant on her way to the garden.

If I'm doing this to better my shop, then there's no shame in using my own product. No one is buying them anyways, so no one is going to miss these.

She dug into one of her golden cheesy breads, not wanting to use the one piece of garlic bread she had made, and immediately felt a rush of energy flow through her. She felt like she had much sharper vision and would be able to find those ingredients with much more acuity than before.

Okay, now I can really start looking. I should be able to find plenty with the help of my own cooking.

Neo started to walk into the garden, and was in awe about its beauty. Even though there was little in the way of usable food, there were many beautiful flowers for her to gaze upon.

So many colors and shapes,  could probably walk in here for hours without even needing to rest my feet they're so distracting. Wait! I can't just stare at them all day, I need to find food to put in my restaurant. It won't hurt to look at some of the flowers, but I can't lose focus on what I need to be doing here.

Neo's sightseeing was interrupted when she quickly found a patch of carrots to grab from. She was unsure whether or not she was allowed to take from it freely, so Neo just grabbed a single carrot and continued along the way, still staring at all the flowers as she passed them by.

Neo looked around the garden, trying to find some other places where food would be plentiful. Though she didn't see any right away, she didn't lose hope. She may have gotten lucky in finding the one patch of vegetables, but that couldn't be the only one. Neo as hard pressed to find another one. She searched through a maze of flowers in vain looking for another vegetable patch.

I guess if I want to get more ingredients, I'll need to be a bit more greedy with my pickings. I don't want to hinder any other players that come here, but I guess it'll all respawn eventually. Now, where was that carrot patch at, that'll be where I can get a lot more ingredients...

Neo wandered through the flower maze, less in search of new sources of ingredients and now wanting to get back to where she was already getting some.

As Neo kept looking, she kept coming up empty. Though she couldn't be sure of it, it felt like the maze was shifting, trying to obscure her from where she had already been. Resigning herself to another long search, Neo began to reminisce about the previous time she had gone looking for ingredients. It wasn't that long ago, but it already felt like a distant memory.

I had a similar struggle with finding ingredients, guess I need to get better at searching. Maybe there's just more things here that can be used in food than I think. Of course, I wouldn't want to accidentally poison my customers with poor food choices. Not that I have customers in the first place. Maybe there's some trick to getting better customers. Probably should've gone for a more urban location, that would have a lot more foot traffic than the more rural setting I went for. But then again, urban would make the experience a lot noisier and I wouldn't like that.

Neo was still unable to find anything, and just as before found herself getting lost in her own thoughts. The flower maze may have been shifting, but it gave Neo a peaceful solace from any other outside influences. As she thought, her mind wandered from subject to subject, never quite settling on one idea before moving on to the next.

I should try and get a performer into my shop or maybe... Of course, I'll want to get stronger bfore any of that, but what if... I could try to respec, though I don't think I'm doing that... Why don't I try to fight something a little bigger... Do I want to take more risks, my life is on the line... If I stock up on a few things beforehand, I should be fine... maybe find some other people that I can go with to find better places... Maybe just tag along without anyone noticing...

Neo kept looking, but wasn't angered about being unable to find anything. It gave her more time to think about various things. Her thoughts finally begin to coalesce onto a singular topic, how she wished to make her build.

I've always wanted to try and solo my way through as much as possible, but I know that won't be easy. Of course, if I want to be on the front lines I'll still need a build that plays nice with others. Though the battle healing skill is nice, I'm not sure if I want to keep it. I would probably be better suited just increasing my damage further. I could do that by either getting better with my rapier or investing in other skills that increase my damage. If I can end a fight quickly, than I shouldn't need to rely no self-healing as much. If I am going up against a boss, than I should bring people along with me anyways and hopefully they'll either be able to tank better or heal me up.

As Neo continued to think about her build, she finally came across a small cabbage patch. She was still consumed in thought though and didn't see it until she tripped over a head of cabbage.

Guess I'll need to pay a bit more attention, won't I? Guess I'll take the one that I just knocked loos. Probably shouldn't take more than that though. Wouldn't be terribly kind of me to strip the place clean. And that's not to say that there could be defenses to prevent such greed. Better to just be kind and go other places to find ingredients. I would love to get some meats as well, but I doubt that I'll find any here. Not unless I kill some monsters, but my guess is that they are all too low of level for me to get anything off of them.

Neo put the cabbage into her inventory and continued to look for more variety in her ingredients.

After getting hold of the cabbage, Neo went looking for more ingredients. Sadly, the maze continued to beguile Neo's sense of direction, causing her to be unable to find more vegetables lying around the garden. Debating about trying to find her way out, Neo decided to just stay put for a while and let the maze sort itself out. It appeared to do this in a regular fashion. If Neo waited for it to finish moving, she could at least get her bearings and make her way towards the exit before it continued moving.

Get out. I'll do it slowly, but I should get out now while I'm thinking about it. Knowing my luck, I'll go the longest way possible. Of course, the longer I'm in here, the longer I technically have to find ingredients. Assuming that I can find any to begin with. I seem to have had my luck stripped rather bare recently.

As Neo sat and waited, her mind wandered once again. She wondered if there was something she could do to speed up her progress towards the front lines.

I've already got an in with my crafting. Speaking of which, I'll need to remember to show up to help give out some of the things that I have crafted. I got a list from someone with a couple of things that I need to make sure to make. Other than that , there isn't much else that I need to do. I should probably also get some T2 materials, as not everyone fighting on the front is at the highest levels. But if I want to fight at the front, I'll need to at least match them in level. I would prefer to be close to some of the highest leveled players before I put myself into a fight. But I think I'll see where I am when the next fight comes around.

The maze seemed to be done moving now, and Neo went in a singular direction. She had no idea which way would be out, but if she just went one direction she should get out eventually. At least that's what she hoped. While walking, she came across another patch of vegetables, cauliflower this time. She grabbed a head and felt amazed at the detail of it. Even though she had been working her way towards the top for a while now, the game still managed to amaze her with how realistic it could be. There seemed to be no facet of it that wasn't painstakingly created. Neo couldn't even fathom how hard this must've been to create.

And to have the whole thing thrown away by an egotistical maniac who didn't want players to be able to log out until they managed to go through all of its content, one painstaking floor after the next.

The maze was certainly taking its time before moving again, which Neo was perfectly content with. She took the time to harvest more of the cauliflower, as it seemed that perhaps the maze only moved after Neo left one of the patches. SHe grabbed herself another two heads and got up from her sitting position. Even though the game tried to let you continue, it also tried to simulate the tiredness of working so hard at grabbing things. It was a jarring clash to say the least. Pushing through it, Neo began to leave the patch.

Let's hope that the maze doesn't start moving again, I don't want to have to wait forever again, even if it is giving me ample time to plan things out. I just want to get as many ingredients as possible before heading back to town. Then I'll need to focus on leveling up again, and try and get closer to the front lines.

As Neo left the patch she was at, she noticed that the maze did not begin to move.

So it appears that it isn't based on my movements then, just dumb luck that I got trapped away from all of the patches.

Neo came across a celery patch next. She quickly harvested several stalks, wondering what she would make with all of this.

WIth no meat, I could probably still make a really good soup. Of course, I would need some extra protein to help with that. It would be best if I didn't make food that wasn't actually filling as that's half of the reason that people will want food from me. Well, I guess it would be a third. One third for actually good food, one for giving them buffs, and the last for sating their hunger. It really is a clever system that someone could exploit if they really wanted to. Though I guess there's nothing stopping players from going to a soup kitchen.

As Neo was leaving the Celery path, the maze began to move again.

It's sad that the maze never seems to begin moving while I'm at a patch, then aI could probably clear it out if I really wanted to. Of course, I still don't know if there is things in place to stop people from being to greedy. Maybe it's just my morals that are the only security measures. Though that would be pretty ineffective against some people. Even with a sign, people tend to take more than they should. There aren't many that are willing to follow directions for the greater good. Of course, it seems that on the front lines, that is what most of the people are. I doubt anyone could survive up there for long without listening to directions. Not doing so would likely get someone killed. Then again, what do I know, I'm just a low level player trying to scramble their way to the top.

The maze continued to move, and Neo sat down to wait it out. She wasn't sure how long it would take, but it would likely be long enough to worth sitting down.

I should go find myself a quest line. Something that will really give me a boost. I hear that those tend to be pretty hard though. I don't know how well I would be able to take that on. Maybe if I got a whole group together I could go for it. Of course, I doubt that many people haven't already done several of the quest lines and the ones they haven't aren't worth their while. Though I guess it's possible for a quest to be repeated, a quest line wouldn't really make sense. Even if it is something that different players can go through without it seemingly being ineffective, it would effect the story that that player has seen. I wouldn't personally allow for a player to go through that again. At least not for rewards.

The maze's movement seemed like it would never end, and Neo just remained sitting and contemplating about how to get to the front lines.

I've already covered what should be the best way. I need to find friends and have them be my in to the fights. I've already accomplished that, now I just need to get more powerful. WIth that I would be able to actually fight. As it stands I am already helping with supplies, so that's a good way to get my renown up. People will start to see me more as a person who is contributing rather than being a few extra numbers that they have to guard. I won't even be going near the boss room if at all possible, though I will likely need to escort myself back to the town. I should be able to dodge around monsters on my own without much difficulty, so I don't think it will be an issue.

The maze slowly came to a crawl until it finally stopped, and Neo immediately spotted another patch of vegetables. She couldn't quite tell what they were, but made sure they weren't beans. She had seen an american story once where someone stole beans from a witch's garden and it didn't turn out very well. She couldn't exactly tell what had happened due to the terrible subtitles on it, but it seemed pretty bad. The music was really nice to, it had a nice bounce to it. She stuffed two more handfuls of food into her inventory. It was beginning to fill up, but Neo couldn't seem to find her way out of the garden maze. Perhaps there was a key to some secret exit. As preposterous as that sounded, Neo would believe it could be true if she hadn't thought it up. Though maybe it was true, just maybe it could be...

Neo left that patch and the maze began to move once again. Though it certainly wasn't every time that she left a patch, it seemed to only move when she did leave a patch. Maybe it was just a trigger that could only happen upon leaving or maybe it was Neo's bizzare luck causing this to happen. Either way, she was stuck once again and sat down to wait it out. WHile waiting, Neo wondered about how she could make her shop look better. THere wasn't much that came to mind. Most of the things that could improve the look substantially would be detrimental to the atmosphere she was trying to create. Than again, it seemed as though her atmosphere was not really helping to draw in customers, at least from the way it appeared. Perhaps she could try to change around the atmosphere she had, though it would certainly be a pain to move her shop to another location. Especially while she was storing meals for the raid.

The maze stopped, and Neo could see through the bushes to the plains on the outside. She wasn't that far from the exit. She quickly went over to the revealed cabbage patch to gather some more resources before looking for the actual exit.

I just hope that there's an actual exit on this side and not just one for the entire thing. Maybe if there is one I lucked out and found myself on the same side. Or perhaps there's two and I went directly across the garden. There's so many possibilities, I just hope I get one of the positive outcomes. It would be pretty bad if I was stuck in here for a while. I just want to get back and make some food with these ingredients. I have all sorts of ideas for what to do with them. Of course, that will have to likely wait. I need to go find some people to do some quests with if I want to get more powerful.

As Neo was looking for the exit, the maze began to move. This time, it seemed as though it was actually moving in her favor. She saw the carrot patch that she first grabbed from reappear in her view along with the exit pathway. Neo quickly grabbed a couple more carrots from the patch before heading out of the garden. She went towards the Town of Beginnings and hurried past all of the small shops. It was time for her to drop off all of these ingredients and take a break from focusing on crafting so much. It would be nice to finally go back to leveling herself up. As nice as it was to be playing a support for others, she desperately wanted to be fighting on the front lines and be there to push people forward as best as she could. That was where Neo wanted to be and that was where she was headed.
