[SP-F5] The Phantom Blade - Complete

Recommended Posts

Seldentar steps off the Teleport pad in the desert city on Floor 5. According to the info broker, this was where the ruins were. According to the myths from the Beta Testers, apparently a rare monster spawned in the ruins at midnight. Seldentar worried about what the info broker had said. She told him that the last person to buy that information was never heard from again, and according to the monument on Floor 1, his cause of death was being cut in half. Still, it was worth looking into. If it was too dangerous, he could always teleport out with the crystal, and he had his healing crystal as well, in case he just needed a push. The rare cloth it was supposed to drop would easily make for a good coat. As the sun went down, he heads out of the save zone, moving as fast as his legs will take him, his fox Shadow at his side running.

The path to the ruins was a long one, as Seldentar had to keep doubling back to avoid monsters in the field. He didnt want to risk fighting anything yet, he needed to save his strength for what was coming. He made it just before midnight, entering the ruins. He walked through them, a shiver going down his spine. He definitely did not like the look of his place, and was tempted to teleport out now. Still, if he was just going to run and hide from danger, hed never be able to join the front lines. He had to be brave. Still, as time went on, he started to wonder if this was just a hoax of a rumor. Then he felt it, the sudden pick up of the wind. An eerie red light began to shine through the ruins, and red smoke like substance began to coalesce in front of him. He watched, in horror, as the monster formed. Hovering slightly over the ground, no legs, just a flowing tattered red cloak, and two scythes for arms. With glowing red eyes, and a hideous cackling laugh that gave him goosebumps. Its name appeared . With two hit point bars, Seldentar gripped his sword tightly.

"Alright Shadow! Lets give him everything we've got!"

Seldentar rushes forward, swinging his sword in a powerful Arc, with Shadow leaping up at the monster by his side. The monster, with inhuman speed, easily avoided both attacks as it glided backwards from them.

The Phantom Blade, having dodged both attacks, suddenly switches direction of its glide. Rushing forward, its arms held high, it rushes at Seldentar, powerful scythes swinging at him. Its Scythe is stopped as Seldentar manages to get his sword up in the way in time, the impact sliding him back a few feet.

Seld feels the shock of the impact of its Scythe against his sword, becoming concerned about how powerful this monster was. Still, so far he was uninjured, and it was time to show this thing what he was made of. With a growl, he pushes back against its Scythe with all of his strength, and then lunges forward with his sword. Next to him, Shadow continued his own assault, moving behind the monster trying to flank it. Shadow can't seem to land his attack, and the monster blocks the thrust by parrying away the attack with its scythe.

Seld reels from the blow, but rushes in, seeing the monster slow down and hoping it would be a little slow on the upkeep. He brings his sword up hard at it, while Shadow darts back in jumping at the monster. It manages to dodge Shadow, but Seldentars Blade slices deep into the creature, at the same time restoring some of his own HP thanks to the special ability of his BloodDrinker

The Phantom Blade reels back from the attack, its fury rising. The game engine driving its rage, now focused purely on Seldentar for causing it damage, it rears back with both Scythes, swinging them together. Seldentar manages to dodge one of the scythes, deflecting the other with his sword. (Pincer attack, two attack rolls one with battle one with loot. 5 Turn Cooldown.)

Seld blocked, his eyes going wide as it swung both scythes at him. He wondered if thats what got the last player that fought this monster, being cut in half by such a horrible attack. He hops back for a moment, then jumps forward lunging at the creature again. Behind it, Shadow continued to jump up at it trying to find something to bite into. Selds blade finds a good shot in his thrust, although poor Shadow was having a hard time finding anything of substance to bite into.

The Phantom Blade rises up into the air as if jumping. Looking down at Seldentar, it raises its Scythe above its head, before rushing back down towards the ground, bringing its scythe down at Seldentar. Seldentar tries to jump out of the way, but the scythe clips his shoulder, sending him back a few feet from the strength of the impact.

Seld manages to stop his backward momentum, and with a push of his foot jumps forward rushing at the Creature. Jumping up into the air, he tries the same maneuver back at the creature. Behind it, Shadow takes a running leap, trying to get high enough into the air to go after its exposed arms. Without the limits of normal legs, it glides to the side, causing both attacks to miss.

Seldentar, taking advantage of the monsters miss, steps in, hoping to get too close for counterattack, and stabs forward with a thrusting attack. Besides him, Shadow jumps up onto his shoulder, then off of it straight at the monsters face, its claws forward. Both attacks seem to be successful, as the monster, still recovering from its missed attack, is unable to defend.

"Shadow! No you don't leave him alone!"

Seldentar sees Shadows hit points deplete almost by half from the single attack, and rushes to move inbetween the monster and Shadow. His sword would replenish his health during the fight, but Shadow had no way to do that. Growling, he moves forward towards the monster.

"Leave him alone! You're going to pay for that!"

He slashes with his sword, trying to cut through the monster. Behind him, Shadow whimpers and starts to stand up again, but still recovering, can not join this current attack. Seldentar grins as he sees his attack cut into the monster again, seeing its HP drop into the red zone.

The Phantom Blades HP dropped into the Red, its eyes go from glowing red, to pulsing. Seldentars thoughts of this being good would be short lived, as its Speed seems to increase as it enters its dying rage. No one will kill me, in my dying rage, all will fall. Thats the motivation the Cardinal System put into this monster, to claim the lives and souls of all those who dared to challenge it. (Rage Combat Bonuses: +1 To combat rolls, +1 Damage, -1 Enemy Combat Roll) Raising its Scythe, it swings across at Seldentar faster then ever before. While he manages to stop himself from being sliced in half, the hit, and resulting impact as he slams against a stone pillar, are enough to make him realize that, while this fight might be nearing the end, he still wasnt sure who the victor would be.

Seldentar pushes himself forward off of the pillar he hit, rushing forward. As crazy as it sounds, he was worried about the monster going after Shadow again, and wanted to make sure he had its full attention. He couldn't stand the thought of that poor fox being harmed because he wasn't able to protect it. He screams as he charges forward, lunging with all of his strength. The monster, its speed increased, manages to block the attack that normally he would have landed.

The raging monster focused its attention on the Player still throwing himself at it. The Familiar could wait, this pest had caused the most damage, and it was time to make him pay. Raising its scythe as his thrust misses, he brings it down diagonally, trying to cut through him. Seldentar swings his sword up, blocking the shot, although he drops to a Knee from the impact of the Scythes powerful swing hitting his sword.

Seldentar shudders, but, seeing Shadow back on his feet and moving in, decides now is the time to end this. With all of his strength, he pushes up against the monsters Scythe, and, for a moment at least throwing it off balance, swings his blade at the monster, even as Shadow Leaps into the air at it. Its speed incredible, it had no problem stopping his sword attack. Still, Shadow landed his own attack, clawing the monsters back up before landing on the ground.

The damage Shadow inflicted was insignificant to what the player had done, and the Cardinal System drove the Phantom Blade on, as both of its Scythes raised into the air. With a powerful Swing, it once again attempted its Pincer Strike. Seldentar, recognizing the movement from before, jumps back just in time to see the Scythes crash into the ground where he was just standing. He starts to shake from the realization that would have left him incapacitated, if not outright killed him.

"Shadow, stay back for now, ill finish this alone!"

Seld was worried about what that spin attack would do if it happened again. Last time almost took out half of Shadows HP, and it was moving a lot faster and swinging even harder now. No, he had to finish this alone. The monsters scythes imbedded into the ground, he rushes forward, stepping on the scythes, and jumping up into the air, his sword held high above his head. With a powerful scream, he brings it down, as hard as he can. The monster moves with incredible speed though, dodging his attack, leaving it hitting the ground harmlessly.
