[SP-F4] Avalanche

Recommended Posts

Objectives:

  • Accept the quest
  • Defeat the Avalanche (Avalanche: 100/100 | DMG: 40)
  • Material Gathering

Pick smiled - the night was coming and he wanted to spend the night doing something today. He would use the time to do a quest that would get him a few more levels higher than he already is. He had hit level twelve already from days of grinding quests, and he would use the skill points to increase his abilities as a damage dealer. It will not be that difficult for him to complete the quest, because he had already leveled up his skills to a certain degree. The whole concept was to use the skill points that he had obtained from previous quests in order to improve himself even more. Pick smirked, putting on the mask before allowing his familiar to come out of his inventory in order to get him some air time and he can even help him out on the quest as well. Pick smirked, leaving.

Pick tore off the poster on the wall that suggested that players go and take this quest, complete it, and then use it to level up higher than they already were. This was the first time that he was here on the snowy floor of the fourth floor, and he could tell that his owl was not used to it. Pick could see that, but the owl would just have to deal with it. The owl would have to learn to adapt to situations where it would not be comfortable, since Pick would have to go to a lot of locations in order to get stuff done, the owl would have follow along as well. At this point, the owl had gotten used to Pick's transition from him in the morning to him at night where he was devastating. The owl would be in action only during the night, though.

Pick smirked, strolling up to the snowy floors of the fourth floor knowing that he would manage to defeat the boss here with little to no effort. The avalanche would be no problem for him if he had higher damage, since at the moment, he didn't have that much energy. He wanted to end the battle quickly, and with his speed, it would be awfully hard for the Avalanche to even make contact with him. Pick was confident that he could defeat it, but it was a matter of time. At the moment, Pick's damage output was falling behind because he had invested in the gatherer's skill, and as a result, he can't do extreme damage that was more than one hundred... in fact, he couldn't even do half of that. Walking up to the Avalanche, he struck first, only to miss and the Avalanche responded, which Pick dodged immediately.

[Ultimate Breaker] Activated - (7*3=21)

The opponent had activated, which gives Pick his savvy effect which allows him to be able to hit the target easier next time. With his evasion, the savvy was actually quite a good enhancement to have at night. This would make it so that his ability to fight was not hindered, and as long as his speed allows him to continue dodging opponent's strikes, Pick would be able to hit enemies with ease. He had made all these calculations far before the actual start of the game, and now it felt really nice to actually put it into effect. Soon enough, he might be able to remove the savvy effect and regen effect entirely, maybe even getting him some status effects to annoy the heck out of enemies with bleed and paralysis. His weapon did not have a lot of stun potential, as it was AoE oriented, so paralysis would actually be handy.

[Ultimate Breaker] Activated - (6*3=18)

Once again, Pick would unleash the same sword art against the monster that was fighting against him. As long as the Avalanche continued to miss him, Pick would be able to continue doing damage consistently. The chance that Pick would miss an attack was actually quite low as long as Pick kept on doing what he did best, which was jumping around and dodging attacks after attacks. This way, even though he had little damage, he would be able to continue doing the damage, defeating the monster slowly until its health points reached zero. Pick smirked, watching as the Avalanche's eyes grew more red before it started charging towards him. Pick jumped up, and went over the monster, making sure that it continued to miss. Not only was it missing, it was getting extremely mad as well, due to the frustration of them being unable to even touch Pick's body.

[Ultimate Breaker] Activated - (6*3=18)

Pick would activate the same sword art that he has been using ever since obtaining the rank two sword arts that he had in his arsenal. After this quest, though, he would obtain access to the rank three sword arts, and then he would start using the same sword arts again and again, except this time - a more powerful one. Right now, his sword art was not brilliant, as he already made skill point investments that were outside the source of the DPS skills. Pick wanted to maximize the amount of damage that he could put out in order to obtain as many Col as he can once he was strong enough. However, he was far from being strong enough to farm mobs with the amount of sword arts that he had at the moment. He would need to get stronger, and then kill mobs. For now, while he was thinking, he got hit.

[Ultimate Breaker] Activated - (7*3=21)

Pick had been hit by a massive long-ranged attack where the monster struck him by throwing a snow ball... no, many snow balls at the speed of a machine gun. Pick could have definitely dodged it if he had seen the attack coming - instead, he was thinking about other non-important things, and the result was he had been hit square in the chest. Pick sighed, standing up before activating his sword art again, and then striking the Avalanche with it. Pick would have to be more cautious from now on, because later on in tougher battles, a lack of concentration can cost him his life, and let's be honest here... that, and money, are the only things that he cannot afford to lose. All the other things, he can afford. The attack had taken away his savvy, but the avalanche attacked this time, and missed, so Pick was once again in possession of the boost.

Pick was very close to finishing off the monster here, and he could gather some materials on the fourth floor once it was complete. Pick sighed - the battle had been quite boring, and the Avalanche was barely a challenge to him... after this, he would have to do all that material gathering stuff again, just to find something to do. Pick watched as the owl came around and charged at the Avalanche, and Pick followed it. It was a technique that the two of them developed together. Pick would follow the owl while the owl acted as a distraction. It would dodge at the last moment to avoid getting hit, and Pick then struck the enemy with his golden axe. The avalanche, however, did something different this time. It used its ice attack, sending icicles towards Pick before he could respond, ending in him getting struck by a powerful attack.

[Ultimate Breaker] Activated - (Miss)

Pick gasped for air. The attack had been cold, and for some reason, it felt like his inner organs had somehow felt the frozen impact of that attack. It was a bad one, and although Pick could not feel pain, it felt terrible nonetheless, and Pick would much rather not feel that again. Not only that, because the mob had managed to hit him after all those times where it had failed to do so, Pick lost the savvy effect that allowed him to hit the target far easier than normal, and with the savvy effect, he would've probably hit the avalanche and finished it off. However, he was unable to use the savvy enhancement on his cloak, and the result? Well, he missed of course, and it wasn't even close of an attack. The golden axe had fallen on the ground - an obvious miss on his part, and he expects better.

[Ultimate Breaker] Activated - (8*3=24)

Pick watched as the owl acted on its own, something that Pick allowed it to do at times. It was only active during the night, and Pick sometimes had to restrict its freedom in order to preserve his own identity. As a result, he felt the obligation to provide it with freedom during combat. It was a fighter familiar, so Pick expected it to be able to tell what to do at certain times with training. As long as it cooperated at important times, it was unnecessary for Pick to monitor its every move. Plus, it was actually quite obedient for being a rare familiar, so that was already enough for somebody like Pick. Pick watched as it flew behind the avalanche, causing it to turn its body and then tripping itself up during the process. Pick smirked, charging with a thumbs-up, and ending the fight right there with a swing.

It was then that Pick decided that he would get some material gathering done - however, he didn't realize that the material gathering he had been doing before had been helped out quite a ton by enhancements. This time, he did not have the enhancements to help him out, and thus, it was much harder for him to find materials. He only realized this after the first attempt at gathering a material, and he knew instantly that it he kept on going with the material gathering, it would only be unfortunate for him in the end, since he realized this after failing, he decided to no longer material gathering during the night. Instead, he would just train his familiar so that it can do stuff during the night. Pick smirked, watching as the owl came to him as he summoned it from the air. It was quite obedient, like most other familiars.

"Alright Emerald, let's get some training done," Pick said, seriously under the mask. Emerald was still getting used to the difference between Pick during the day, and then Pick during the night - both of which were technically disguises set out by Pick. Although the owl doesn't truly know its owner - as in his mentality and personality since Pick appears to be a combination of two different people. The owl was still getting used to it, and it would get better for it with time. The owl was perfection - obedient, and it seems never to complain even when Pick stored it away a lot, especially during the day. Eventually, though, Pick would need to get the owl out during the day and help it with practicing how to hide, because Pick did not want it seen during the day, where anyone might be able to associate it with him. Pick sighed, looking around.

Pick continued to look around in case he happened to stumble across some materials that he can personally use. He doubted it, though, since these materials were actually quite rare, and without any sort of boosts to help him out, it would be very difficult for Pick to get any of this material gathering done. Still, the main reason that he was still out here during the night was to spend time with his familiar and develop a bond and trust, and even some form of communication so that the two can fully cooperate with each other. Pick smirked under the mask - the owl must learn how to realize that he is who he is without seeing his actual face. During the night, the owl's vision was amazing, able to see enemies and targets with ease, but during the day, it was not as awake, so its abilities would be toned down.

Pick concluded that the owl would have to recognize him through scent, and that was easy - he would just have to spend some time with him. Pick took out his golden battle axe, before signaling to the owl to come near him. It was then that he began his lecture to teach the owl how things would work.

"Hey, owl, remember to never come out during the day unless I instructed to," Pick referred to Emerald as owl when situations got serious. It was only when Pick addressed Emerald as "owl" when Pick meant business. "This way, my identity won't get exposed. I'll be getting a better battle axe soon, one that would fit this personality, you see, but this golden axe will be what I rock during the morning. During the morning, do not come and fight with me if you see this golden axe, got it?" Pick instructed.

The owl nodded, as if it actually understood what Pick was getting at. The owl had gotten used to Pick looking like this with the mask on, which was a positive since that would mean Pick would have the ability to use the owl without the owl being confused. Pick will have to start getting used to calling his owl Emerald later on, though, but only during a certain time. If he was heard calling the owl the same name both as his secret identity and as his real identity, there's only one way that that would go - he would get exposed, of course. Pick smirked, watching as the owl seemed to dance in joy during the night. He was active, and deadly as well, and can definitely be a scare to random passing players. It was perfect - Emerald... no, he was perfect. Pick looked around, checking for materials only to not see any.

Pick smiled, under his mask with a smirk and a chuckle. It had been a while since he killed the Avalanche, and the night was approaching the day. Pick had spent quite a while with Emerald now, so he had managed to develop quite a bond already with the familiar. Pick smirked, adjusting his mask so that it wouldn't fall off as the owl went into the sky and cycled twice before coming down forcefully and stopping without slowing down. it was an impressive move, and a great juke that would surprise the enemy that Pick was fighting in order for Pick to follow up immediate with a battle axe sword art. The battle axe was a heavy weapon, so Pick needed to have something distract the enemy in order for him to get a clean strike off without him having to learn how to wield the weapon faster than usual.

Pick carried on, but finally, the time was right for Pick to get the owl and allow him to rest. Emerald slept mostly during the day unless Pick fed it some coffee, but coffee wasn't that good for you in real life, so Pick would be cautious and be aware when he needs the owl during the morning. Besides, just having him was enough to get him the damage boost that it provided. That was actually enough - everything else the owl does was what Pick trained it to do - to fight along side him and to communicate with him with the situation requires it. Pick sighed, petting the owl as it closed its eyes after flying onto his hand. The first floor was filled with his friends, and the fourth floor, actually, had some acquaintances as well. Now, he shall go and negotiate with these players, and hopefully, they'll be of use.

Before Pick would enter the safe zone, however, Pick would check around to see if there were any materials near the entrance to the main floor. He felt quite cold at this point, and it had begun snowing since it was during the day. To be completely honest, this floor was actually much more comfortable than the first floor for Pick. Here, it was chilly, and people tended to do less during snowy days, because it's cold. Everything seemed so at peace - just perfect for Pick to do something to ruin the peace that this place seemed to pull off. Pick sighed, realizing that he was not going to be able to obtain a material because he had none of the equipment that he needed to successfully do material gathering. Pick smirked, taking off the mask before entering the safe zone. At this point, only a few night wanderers were active.

Pick went into the closest bar, also known as the most famous bar on the fourth floor, because not only was there cold drinks such as beer and wine, there were warm drinks fitting for the fourth floor's coldness as well. Pick smiled, changing everything fully back to his original costume as well before going into the bar and looking around. It was there... it was there that he noticed a strange girl in a cloak. Finding her interesting, Pick sat down and tried to peek under the cloak only to be unable to see what was beneath it. He began to speak,

"Early morning, huh? Not many players become active during the mornings. What might you be doing out here by yourself so early in the morning?" Pick asked, smiling and fixing his blonde hair from the previous night's adventures. He was tired, but not tired enough to pass up an opportunity.

Before the girl could speak, a huge fist slammed right into the desk. "She doesn't speak. If you want to talk, you're going to have to do it with me," Pick heard, looking up to see an extremely buff man with dark blue hair staring down at him. His other hand was making the shape of a fist, as if he was prepared to attack him at any moment. Pick sighed, sitting back to show that he wasn't even intimidated.

"Why jump to violence? We can sort something out, you know. It seems that we might have some similiarities, if you know what I mean. After all, I think I'm not that far from yourselves." Pick smirked, "you guys aren't good guys either, right?" Pick asked, switching from his gaze from the buff man to the girl on the right.

"Clever," Pick was surprised to hear the girl speak, "that's right..."
