[SP-F6] Seeing Double <<The Gemini>> (Complete)

Recommended Posts

Trinoko had been suffering from a terrible case of pacifism over the recent days, so he had gone to one of the higher currently unlocked floors to try and correct this. Once there on the sixth floor, and spending some time admiring the local NPC who were all female in Amazon, he headed towards the town's exit.

As he came to approach the town's border, however, Trinoko was approached by a strange man. He had never seen him before, and all the NPC were supposed to be female here. An event maybe? He heard the NPC speak to him and say "How would you like a friendly sparring match to test your skills, sir?" The man seemed unusually friendly, and a dueling request appeared on his screen. While Trinoko was naturally wary of all this, he found himself unable to resist. As his finger moved down to try and touch the least dangerous option on the list, suddenly they all switched places and he was hit with the death duel! When Trinoko glanced up to try and see what was up, drawing his spear in preparation, he gasped in surprise. He was looking at a double of himself!

Trinoko stared at the NPC which had stolen his name and identity. He observed it's movements and soon noticed at the moment it was only matching his own movements. He was sure that was just a mind trick, to make him believe it would only do what he did. Holding his assault spear at the ready he fiddles through his menu to send a forfeit request, he would rather not risk death. Unfortunately, much like the log out button, it was absent. Trinoko saw there was no other way and knew what it was he had to do, as annoying as it was. A battle to the death!

The NPC seemed to be allowing Trinoko the first move. Trinoko himself not about to deny the kindness of such an advantage makes use of his sprint skill, closing the gap between him and the NPC quickly, spear forward and aimed for the Doppelganger's heart!

Trinoko blinked in surprise when he realized the NPC was no longer there. It had dodged, using it's Acrobatics skills to vault over Trinoko and land behind him! He had left himself vulnerable by accident, and had a feeling he was about to regret it. It was just now that Trinoko realized the NPC was using his very own skills.

The NPC smiled with a face not it's own, flourishing the large spear in it's hands before jabbing the pointed edge towards the owner of it's twin, having every intention of stabbing him in the back. Trinoko's first instinct was to try and dodge, hoping he was able to respond in time!

Trinoko gasped when he felt the force of the weapon hitting his back, knocking him forward and leaving a red scar of pixels at the point of impact, his hitpoints going down by one point. It was not the best start to the duel.

Trinoko regained his balance and turned around as swiftly as he could, he was wounded and that greatly inconvenienced him since the first strike in a duel of equal powers could decide the match. He lunged at the clone of himself, not having the spare time to entertain such thoughts like 'Only a fool fights one's self' or the like.

Trinoko grinned cockily as the blade of his spear slashed across the NPC's chest, all attempts to block or dodge a failure as the wound ran deep, leaving a large scar across the Gemini's chest. It was a critical hit!

The NPC responded to it's wound no more than a monster would, how could one expect different? It was only a fake, a replica. With cold efficiency in it's mind it prepares it's counter attack, ignoring the wound that even now marked it's body while it's hit points went down.

The NPC slipped. The AI system Kayaba Akihiko had spent so long on tripped on a rock and fell onto Trinoko's blade, scratching itself and further lowering it's own hit points! Trinoko had little time to celebrate as the NPC jumped back to it's feet, but Trinoko smiled despite it because of the copy-cat's epic failure.

Since the NPC had essentially done worse than wasted it's own chance, Trinoko had no issue taking full advantage, making several fast jabs at the Gemini to catch it off guard until one hopefully landed. He had no idea if a monster had the ability to feel shock or shame, but Trinoko hoped to take advantage of both!

Despite the NPC's attempts to keep up and avoid the strikes, one of them hit across the NPC's face, while for a brief moment Trinoko felt the desire to feel narcissistic shame for damaging his own face, he swiftly remembered it was not HIS face. The NPC had done a lot wrong in this fight, and Trinoko was happy for all of it.

The Gemini had a lot of ground to make up for, and it prepared to do just that, carefully deflecting several of Trinoko's jabs before finding an opening to attempt it's own strike, aiming to hit Trinoko's legs to limit his mobility if it could. The last thing on the NPC's artificial mind was defeat.

The NPC's lack of skill with a spear proved ever obvious. The spear had shot right past Trinoko's side, and Trinoko promptly dodged away. Trinoko didn't know if it was simply a lack of skill with a spear, or his own amazing luck, but defeat seemed like a far off fantasy to the original owner of their shared forms.

Trinoko, ever thankful for his naturally high luck stat, made a sweeping movement with his spear towards the Gemini's legs. With the NPC's consistently botched combat attempts, he hoped that the image before him was not going to become an image of the future from Kayaba himself.

As if to respond to his thoughts, a critical blow was laid across the NPC's kneecaps. Trinoko once more thanked whatever force of luck had decided to follow him to this fight as he watches the NPC's hit points move ever lower.

It was time once again for the Gemini to attempt it's counter attack. Morale was thankfully of no relevance to the programmed person. It battled just as valiantly as the fight had begun, flourishing and striking with the spear to try and land a second blow on the player whom it had challenged.

Finally showing competence in combat, it scored a critical strike on Trinoko, damaging his shoulder and leaving it's second crimson mark on the player who had up until now enjoyed his constant small victories.

In the hopes that this did not become a turning point in the battle, he tries to ignore the blow across his shoulder and instead use the opportunity to try and land his own strike, mimicking the NPC ironically which had been using his own skills and items.

Trinoko hissed as the NPC dodged the blow, predicting it and moving out of range. It looked like the AI's learning ability had finally started to kick in after so deep into the fight, leaving Trinoko open for another attack from his challenger.

The NPC, very much willing to take advantage of Trinoko's failed attempt at an attack, lunges towards him. It made use of it's sprint skill to close the distance swiftly and effectively. With a little luck, it would land another glorious attack and bring the odds closer to even.

As if mimicking Trinoko's failed attempt, or perhaps because it couldn't keep up with the speed of sprinting, the blow lands in front of Trinoko rather than on or across him. Now the Gemini's attack had left him open to a counter!

Seeing the NPC fumble and miss, Trinoko happily swung his spear horizontally towards the faker. While he had to admit, his weapons and equipment lacking any special properties made the battle safer, it also made it a lot longer than it needed to be. If his weapons had even a little of a boost to damage the battle could be close to done by now!

Once again, as if to reflect his thoughts and eagerness to end the battle, yet another critical blow moved across the NPC's virtual flesh. the NPC having been brought down almost to half health while Trinoko suffered only a few scratches.

The NPC, not designed with a survival instinct it appeared, shrugged off the damage with unnatural determination. It's spear that's blade currently rested on the ground swung upward by it's will. Trinoko was now in range, and it attempted to take full advantage of the closeness between the two.

Trinoko's leg was indeed hit by the counter attack, causing him to stagger back in surprise before regaining his composure. It was going to take more than one hit to bring him down after all of this.

While caught off guard by the surprise hit, he tried not to let it weigh too heavily. He held more than a small advantage over the NPC, and kept his morale and will strong thanks to it, the NPC's largely depleted health bar spurring him onward to jab the sharp blade of his assault spear towards the NPC.

Unfortunately when Trinoko staggered as a result of the previous attack, it put him more out of range than he expected. He himself was fairly new to using such a weapon, so he overestimated his own attack range and missed!

The chance to strike once more was on the Gemini's side, and seeing that he stepped forward to try and close the gap between them and score another blow on Trinoko. Even damaged and weakened the NPC knew there was still a chance at success and that cold calculating mind made it keep fighting.

When the spear missed Trinoko's head, instead soaring past to rest the shaft on his shoulder, the NPC paused. Had it miscalculated something? Some feedback from its host's own miscalculation?

Trinoko offered a small whimper as he saw the close shave go past him but wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth. Being in a position too compromising to bring his spear back up he instead lifts his legs, and aims to kick the NPC in the gut to push it back so that he could enter a proper combat stance again.

Unfortunatly he ended up missing his blow and tumbling as a result, hissing as a sharp stone cuts him and he gets back up onto his legs as swiftly as he could, spear still in hand and at least able to get into a proper stance again now that they weren't so close to eachother. All the same, he felt the shame the NPC was not able to feel now.

Finding the player's choice of action curious it lunged at him, trying to counter before he had time to fully recover from his failed attempt at a kick. The Gemini's spear aimed once more for Trinoko's shoulder, having sensed the discomfort this caused Trinoko with his lunging attacks.

Trinoko did indeed feel discomfort, his attacks feeling awkward when the source of much of their strength was damaged even if it was mostly in his head. He saw his hitpoints go down another tick.

Feeling the blade of the Gemini's spear buried in his shoulder he grit his teeth angrily, hating the feeling of things impaling him in this world. He lunged for the NPC's face in angered defiance, hoping to give it something to be uncomfortable about as well.

Feeling a strange sense of deja vu the spear moved past the NPC's face to rest the shaft on it's shoulder. Not liking what was happening he takes a hard leap back with his acrobatics and sprint skill to try and maximize the distance. If nothing else pulling his shoulder free of the blade in it.
