[SP-F6] Seeing Double <<The Gemini>> (Complete)

Recommended Posts

The NPC's eyes tracked the blade as Trinoko moved backwards to distance himself. In further mimicry the NPC does much the same, except forward with his spear pointed outward towards Trinoko's gut! Dreading the idea of getting skewered again Trinoko tries to defend the blow despite the speed that was involved.

Unfortunately the NPC was a bit too fast for him to fully deflect, spear running across spear so the blade of the Gemini's weapon scratched across Trinoko's side, just a flesh wound and not one that would harm him mentally.

Trinoko could feel his advantage in the start of the battle slipping, and it started affecting his morale unlike the NPC. He was starting to get a bit panicky at the idea of dying, and jabbed forward at the Gemini in the hopes of regaining some of his headway. He didn't plan on dying here, not for a moment!

In a morale boosting miracle the blade had struck where Trinoko's attacker had missed, skewering the replica of himself and causing him considerable damage from the clean hit!

Momentarily stunned by the force of the attack which had hit him, the NPC stepped back to pull the blade from it's body before impalement damage started to take affect. Sensing it's NPC going below half it's mindset seemed to switch, as if a button had been hit, it's face showed a sense of artificial worry. It swipes at Trinoko with a motion that was surprisingly reckless for the AI!

The surprise of the attack did not change that it was a missing attack, however. Even caught off guard the NPC fails to land a blow on Trinoko.

Trinoko watched as the blade whizzed past his neck, making him gulp as he sees the blade fall useless past him, staggering the NPC. The sudden change in attitude the NPC was showing was strangely dangerous and worrying. He knew better than to believe the NPC was a person like he was, but at the same time it bothered him for some reason. He shakes his head to try and remove such thoughts, lunging his spear forward to try and repeat his successful attack, not wanting to lose his chance!

Despite it being just the tip because of his hesitation, he succeeds in jabbing his opponent, a small red mark on the NPC's, in other words his own, primary arm. The NPC's face didn't become any more or less worried, but it still seemed oddly panicked.

With the NPC's continuously depleting hit points every move seemed to become more and more erratic. Less predictable and calculated. Trinoko figured it was meant to make a player hesitate, and he tried his best not to let it affect him. When the NPC struck out again he watched, trying to dodge or block it if he could.

The NPC's unpredictability proved to it's advantage. While able to keep from being wounded more than necessary, Trinoko was still met with a red marking along his arm from deflecting the attack with his spear.

Feeling himself lose another hitpoint he clenches his hands around his weapon tightly and slashes forward as if his weapon were a halberd or other such weapon. A blade was a blade, and he tried to cut his foe down another peg so that he could continue wielding a blade and keep living.

This move must have caught the NPC off guard or it was far more effective than he expected, either way a crimson scar moved across most of the Gemini's body, severely wounding him.

With the NPC's hitpoints getting critically low, to the point where his hitpoints were in the red, his look of worry turned to one of intense fear. It disturbed Trinoko seeing an exact copy of himself start to shake and cower, striking out like a wounded animal at him!

Trinoko easily dodged and deflected the pitiful attacks, having to focus on the spear to keep from staring at his own face. This battle was becoming harder and harder on him mentally with each time he cut himself down.

While feeling pity and a strange sense of dread, he had to remind himself over and over again that it was just a fake, not some grand scheme to demoralize him or predict his future. He hits one of the NPC's attacks aside and counters, wanting this done as soon as possible!

The riposte was expertly aimed, further cleaving the NPC's hitpoints to dangerous levels, the fearful gaze of the NPC looking at it's own red wound making Trinoko himself cringe in dissatisfaction despite the well aimed hit.

With the NPC on it's last leg, it's attacks seemed random and unplanned. The cold calculation of the NPC seemed completely lost to panic and fear of death, a look he would likely match if brought so lo- No! Trinoko shook his head and shut his eyes, trying to banish such thoughts as he accidentally leaves himself open.

This moment of weakness proved greatly harmful, letting an attack run across his throat which made him sputter and gasp as his eyes shoot open to see that it was a critically damaging hit.

The previous hit had shaken him back to reality. If he didn't kill this NPC, he was going to die. The real him, not some false copy of him. He grit his teeth and forced his hands to stop shaking. He needed to end this before his mind broke, nevermind his virtual body. He stabs forward, some part of him praying the NPC failed to block so he could just end this.

The desperation in his own attack showed as it was easily dodged, even by the supposedly panicked NPC. Trinoko watched with determination, trying to focus his thoughts on here and now as he prepared for the NPC's next move.

When Trinoko's attack missed, the Gemini wasted no time in swinging wildly at him, trying to damage him and give it a chance of not being destroyed, or so Trinoko's thoughts made him believe. Trinoko as before tried to dodge or deflect, his desire to live fairly strong.

Despite this, his mind was shaken enough he was having trouble focusing, the NPC scoring a few hits on him when he was not expecting it! He grit his teeth in frustration as his hitpoints lower.

Trinoko felt himself getting low in the HP department, and it bothered him. He had never been this low on HP, and it made him uncomfortable in a lot of ways. He held his spear tightly and once again assaults his body double with attacks filled with murderous intent.

Trinoko watched as the NPC's hitpoints moved critically low. He only needed one more hit. He only needed to attack him one more time to win!

The NPC's response to the attack was fairly simple. It screamed. It didn't scream like a monster, it screamed like a man would. Worse yet, it screamed in his own voice. Trinoko shuddered at the sound of his own voice shouting in pain from a strike, despite being aware that pain was not a concept in this world.

Apparently the scream had shaken him enough that he couldn't fully dodge one of the Gemini's attacks, as he noticed a red marking on his right hand after the attacks had subsided, the NPC panting as if in exhaustion.

Trinoko was so very done with this fight. Each attack made his heart skip a beat, and every move of the replica made him feel sick to his stomach. He aimed for the damned impostor's heart, wanting to just leave a fatal wound and end this fight so he could move on with his life!... but he hesitated, the NPC was staring at him with pleading eyes. "P-please... don't."

Trinoko was shocked, his own voice begging for his life. His hands shook, the spear still aimed at the NPC as hesitation froze him in place. The NPC had no such feeling though, if there was any doubt it's words were a ruse, it was when it jabbed up at Trinoko with it's spear!

Trinoko gasped in pain as the NPC scored a hit on him in his surprised state, feeling the staticky feeling of a blade hitting his body.

Trinoko didn't hesitate this time, but he was sure the NPC knew that by now. Trinoko growled in frustration and a weird sense of betrayal as he pushes forward with his spear which never left where it had been aimed. He truly hoped the NPC hadn't the will to dodge.

Trinoko gasped when the blade was dodged, and the one in his own body dove deeper, making him growl as he felt a hitpoint tick away.

The NPC didn't move, simply watching the player who was still impaled on the weapon. If Trinoko didn't do something about it quick, he was going to lose another hitpoint from being stuck on the blade that still remained trapped in his virtual form which reflected the almost equally damaged NPC.

Thankfully Trinoko was able to pull away in time, the blade leaving him and the red scar started to close itself as he sighed in relief

Trinoko couldn't take any risks or any more of this situation. He took a long breath, trying to focus his thoughts and concentrate on what needed to be done. He stared at the damned NPC that was disturbing him to his core and stabbed forward once again with his spear, hopefully for the final time!

Trinoko watched as the blade entered his doppelganger and a slightly deranged smile crossed his face as the NPC shattered apart in front of him, leaving him alive and safe at last.

Trinoko fell to his knees, supporting himself on his spear that's blade was now buried into the ground as he caught his breath and tried to relax his thoughts. That was a bit more of an ordeal than he would wish on anybody, physically and mentally. As he collected himself he saw a pop up appear in front of him. "W-...what?" A quest completion. Apparently he had accidentally taken part in a hidden quest! Trinoko frowned and said, shaking his head in disbelief "Kayaba you sick mother..." He hits the accept button on the window and sees what it was he gained from the battle.

According to this quest he gained an extra skill. It hinted at a second reward if he was lucky, which frustrated him as he felt he was entitled to a damned good reward after all that! He sighs though and takes what he was offered. At least he was alive, he thought. He stood up and headed back into town, having lost the mood and the HP to go out hunting. He was going to rest at the inn for a day or two he figured to recover. Not just his hitpoints.
