Most of the buildings were were low and squat being under two stories in height. There were several open air markets where various items could be purchased. Countless smells wafted from the different booths and shops that lined the Town. The pair if friends continued to walk till they found themselves in the courtyard just inside the Town's main gate. Not unlike the Town of Beginnings this towns courtyard also contained a large number if people milling about and discussing local topics of interest and news. It all combined into a full background murmur that supplied a constant drone in ones peripheral hearing. Alec stopped as he reached the edge of the courtyard and reached out his thickly muscled arm and performed a quick downward swipe with his index finger opening his inventory and showing him the various items inside. He scrolled through the items listed inside till he found his Heavy Armor. Alec tapped on the icon for his Adamantine Pauldron and his Heavy Armor shoulder pads shimmered and flickered into view resting on his shoulders. The metal used to make his Heavy Armor shoulder guards was an ultra dense metal strongly resistant to most types of damage and offered a special feature of helping him regenerate some of his spent Energy while he was in combat. The ultra dense metal began a green color and once forged darkened to a shade nearly black in color. Alec grasped his shoulder guards and tugged on them testing their fit. They were snug and secure as they were every time he equipped them. His bear skin shoulder wrap appeared draped over his armor and shoulders in it's usual resting spot. He reached a large sausage like finger out and touched the icon for his Shield of the Thunderhearts and watched as his beloved shield shimmered and wavered into existence strapped to his forearm. The shield was white with a beveled edge and a very cool lightning symbol engraved on the front of the shield. Aleve looked it over with a critical eye before gazing at the inside of the shield where and inscription had been engraved as well. Alec's eyes drifted over to the engraving and read it again as he did every time he equipped the shield. "When the tides rise, become the storm." The inscription pulled at Alec's heart as it did every time he read it. Alec moved his arm around testing the weight if the shield and to ensure that there was no binding between shield and armor, which there never was. Link to post Share on other sites
Alec 0 Posted April 4, 2019 Author #24 Report Share Posted April 4, 2019 After equipping and testing his shield Alec scrolled through his list of items within his inventory and stopped when he found his Mithril Battle Axe. His finger hovered over the icon for just a moment before he stabbed it out and poked the icon that represented it. His Mithril Battle Axe shivered and throbbed coming into vision hanging from the loop at his belt. Alec slid the axe out and ran his eyes over the smooth curved lines that made the weapon a thing a beauty and a piece if artwork. The way they flowed gently with a soft curve to the handle leading to the curved head if the axe. The sheen if the weapon was that of highly polished chrome or quicksilver. It was always reflective like a mirror and Alec could see his in reflection in the weapon. Alec took the weapon and performed a series of slow controlled practice swings testing the externally light weight agile weapon and found himself marvelling at it's craftsmanship as he did every time he beheld the magnificent axe. Alec 0 Posted April 4, 2019 Author #25 Report Share Posted April 4, 2019 Fully armed and armored and ready to find some adventure and a mutated Wolf named Venom Snapper Alec let a fierce grin spread across his face as he looked down at his friend and faithful travelling companion Humphrey the American Black Bear cub and asked "Are you ready to find and whoop some wolves my friend?" Humphrey responded by standing on to it's hind two legs and letting out a ferocious growl as he pantomimed boxing. The enthusiasm brought another smile to just face this one less fierce and more approving as he grabbed the bear cub in a rough head lock hug around the bear Cubs thick neck and ruffled his fur. "That's what I thought buddy. Now let's go find us a Venom Snapper." With that Alec released the bear cub and set out with a long sure stride out the main gate and began heading East in the direction of the dot on his map representing Venom Snappers approximate position. Alec 0 Posted April 4, 2019 Author #26 Report Share Posted April 4, 2019 Alec and Humphrey made their way out of the town of Urbus exiting crater by way of a hard packed dirt path worn by many pairs if feet and rutted by the wheels of passage of innumerable carts and wagons the pair entered into the lush green forest surrounding the crater. The forest was shadowy and dim from the large conifer trees that made up the forest giving off a strong tang of pine needles and sap. Large pine cones the size of soft balls or larger could be seen littering the ground. As they walked casually through the dense pine tree forest Alec began to think about his last trek through a forest. Alec smiled a lopsided half grin and gave a shrug as he began to search his surroundings for anything of value. Just because he was out here to find a mutated Wolf and its pack to help a beseiged Merchant in need didn't mean he couldn't spend a few moments looking for hidden treasures. Oh well he thought you couldn't find cool stuff all the time or it wouldn't be cool would it? After completing his search for hidden treasure Alec turned to his best friend Humphrey and nodded. "Well, nothing here my friend. Let's continue on and look for Venom Snapper and see if we can find the abomination and its pack of wolves to help out Gatsly." With that Alec strode off through the woods in search if the mutated wolf Venom Snapper and its pack of wolves. Alec and Humphrey passed through the woods for some time till the ground started to rise in elevation and become more rocky from the proximity to the mountain range they were approaching. The dot on Alec's map was quickly getting closer the farther they progressed. Alec and Humphrey were travelling through the pine tree forest outside the Town of Urbus in the Second Floor if Aincrad in search of Venom Snapper and its pack if wolves who had been tormenting caravans and merchant wagons in the area when Alec suddenly heard the sound of nails scratching on stone. Alec froze in place and gradually turned around to see a large mutated wolf standing atop a large rock outcrop behind him. As he caught sight of Venom Snapper standing atop the rock outcrop the beast began to growl menacingly at Alec and Humphrey. As Alec eased his Mithril Battle Axe from the loop at his hip he heard a twig snap from behind him and knew he had been caught in a trap. Alec did the only thing he could think of, he summoned the energy to power a Sword Art. The energy flooded through him and into his Mithril Battle Axe. The axe began to glow and vibrate till Alec swung his axe in a side armed swing at the wolves who had crept up behind him. The lead Wolf charged in but tripped over a chunk of rock in it's haste and began to tumble uncontrollably causing Alec swing to fly over it's lowered body. As the second Wolf approached Alec's swing took it in the chest three times in quick succession open a massive wound on its chest the vented red pixels just before the Wolf lunged at Alec snapping and biting to open a cut on his face while Alec's shield began to hum the SNAP it arced a burst of electricity into the Wolf zapping it. Alec continued swing came up short of the last Wolf as it was trailing behind the first two. It dove at Alec slashing him with a claw as Alec maneuvered his to block it causing his shield to begin to hum again then SNAP it arced into the last Wolf. Alec called on the energy to power another Sword Art. He needed to dispatch these three Wolves quickly so he had more reserves and energy to fight Venom Snapper. Alec felt the energy course into his body and flow into his axe causing to thrum and vibrate as the axes mirrored head began to glow. When the energy reached its crescendo Alec swung his axe around like he was chopping into a standing tree and released the energy stored within. The Second Wolf charged in and Alec met the animal with lighting fast chops to its chest that opened a second huge wound there that spewed red pixels as the Wolf's health bar dropped into the red. As the last Wolf charged in Alec took that creature too in the chest with three successive strikes that riped open the Wolf's chest causing red pixels to jet from the open wound while his shield again began a derp low hum that built to a CRACK as more static electricity was arced into the last Wolf causing it's muscles to seize and the animal to become Paralyzed. His Shield of the Thunderhearts had also performed marvelously and Paralyzed two of the three Wolves. Now was Alec's chance to dwindle their numbers. He had to save his Energy though because he could glance over his shoulder and see the mutated wolf glaring balefully from the top of the rock outcrop behind him. Alec brought his shield up to defend against the one wolf not Paralyzed and raised his Mithril Battle Axe high over his head to bring down on lead Wolf of the group. The second wolf dove at Alec snapping and gnashing its teeth as Alec brought his shield up and calmly blocked the wolf and knocked it away harmlessly. The third wolf followed the lead Wolf's example and stood twitching and convulsing completely Paralyzed. The two who had been Paralyzed by the electric shocks from his shield were shaking off the effects and eyeing Alec with a deeper sense of aggression and anger. Alec brought his shield up before him and bent his knees to prepare for their charge and raised his Mithril Battle Axe up over his shoulder in preparation to attack the lead wolf again. The leading Wolf tire in and slashed a cut on Alec's cheek as it raced by uncontested. The second wolf threw itself at Alec and he caught the Wolf on his shield as it thrashed and snapped at Alec finally catching Alec in the shoulder and opening a small cut there that leaked red pixels. Alec's shield began to hum in response and SNAP arced a burst of static electricity into the Wolf causing it to explode in a shower of red pixels that tinkled down and disappeared into nothing. The rear Wolf charged in following the second Wolf's destruction leaping for the recently vacated spot. Alec caught the trail wolf online his shield as it clawed and bit scratching a scratch on Alec's face as his shield again began in humming till SNAP it arcs again with another burst if static electricity into the attacking wolf. His shield reacted to the Wolf's body and began to hum then SNAP it burst an arc of static electricity into the Wolf causing it to begin shaking and convulsing before it exploded in a shower of red pixels that rained down and disappeared. The trailing Wolf launched itself at Alec and he deftly maneuvered his shield to knock the Wolf away from him as he brought it back up and placed it between himself and the last Wolf left standing as he raised his Mithril Battle Axe brandishing it confidently at the last wolf. Aleve knew things had just shifted send the fight had suddenly become real. In response he tightened his grip on his shield and growled at Venom Snapper under his breath "When the tides rise, become the storm." Then in a roar if challenge I am the storm that shall wipe you from this word!" With that Alec gripped his Mithril Battle Axe like he had never done before pulling the energy if a Sword Art through him and into his axe as lept towards Venom Snapper swinging like a lightning strike with all he was worth. As he came down his Mithril Battle Axe struck the creature as if a bolt of lightning sparking and cracking as it drove derp into Venom Snapper's hide opening a large gash in its hide that exploded red pixels. The mutated wolf was caught off guard by Alec's sudden ferocity and snapped at him but he brought his Shield up and deflected the creatures bite harmlessly. The lone remaining Wolf was so terrified by the assault that it tripped over its own legs trying to get away from Alec that it fell and landed on prone on the ground. As the energy reached its crest Alec swung his axe down and unleashed the stored up energy in a massive strike as the wolves dove in at him. Venom Snapper howled in pain and drove on throwing itself at Alec and colliding with his shield as it snapped and bit finally finding purchase in Alec's shoulder and opening a small cut there that leaked a tiny amount if red pixels. The lone remaining normal wolf was again startled by the ferocity of Alec's attacks and stumbled in its charge ending in a tumbling mass of fur and legs and teeth as it tumbled to a stop before Alec. Alec delivered a mighty lightning infused blow to the mutated wolf Venom Snapper that dropped it to just above the yellow zone. As the remaining normal wolf of its pack continued to trip and fall over its own legs again ending in a pile at Alec's feet. The Wolf rolled over and regained its footing again and prepared to lunge at Alec again. Alec brought his Mithril Battle Axe back up and called upon the energy to power yet another Sword Art and he felt the energy jump into him and course through him into his deadly but beautiful axe as it began to vibrate and glow building till it neatly over flowed then Alec brought it down with everything he had within him and released the energy at Venom Snapper as he charged and his sole remaining wolf pack member regained its footing and lunged at Alec. Spoiler Roll: 114225 BD: 4 + 2 ACC - 1 EVA = 5 (Fail) Venom Snapper: 8 (Success) 35 DMG - 40 MIT = 1 DMG (Thorns Activates 9 Unmitigated DMG) CD: 7 (+ 1 EN Regenerated) Roll: 114236 MD 3: 2 (Fail) Alec brought his Mithril Battle Axe down aimed at Venom Snapper's neck but released the energy too soon as it dodged nimbly out of the way and dove it at Alec colliding with his shield it snapped and clawed finally catching Alec in the leg and opening a small cut there as Alec's shield began to hum till it SNAP'd and arc a charge if static electricity into Venom Snapper causing it to yelp in pain and shock and jump back from Alec gaining some distance from the large man. The remaining pack wolf lunged at Alec but again he brought his shield around and knocked the Wolf aside before it could reach him. Alec prepared for the pairs next charge as he brought his shield up before him and thrust his Mithril Battle Axe into the sky and summoned the energy that powered Sword Arts and felt the energy like a tidal wave as it crashed over around and through him into his Mithril Battle Axe causing it to begin to vibrate and glow from the incredible influx of energy. When the energy reached point near bursting Alec bellowed out at Venom Snapper "I AM THE STORM!!" and brought his charged weapon down at the mutated wolf aiming for its neck as it lunged at Alec and its pack member lurched in behind it. Venom Snapper dove at him but he brought his shield around and turned the creature away before it could reach him. Its pack mate came in right on its cost tails but Alec managed to whip his shield back around and divert the wolf harmlessly away from himself as well as he turned to meet the pair and brought his shield up in front of him and brought his axe back up ready to swing again. Alec was growing short on Energy and could feel the lethargy began to firm in his body because if it. He was running low on energy so this was going to have to be a normal swing so as the creature neared Alec swung his axe around and brought it down towards Venom Snapper as it charged in its pack member hot on its heals. Spoiler Roll: 114229 BD: 1 (Critical Fail) Venom Snapper: 5 (Fail) CD: 3 (No EN Regenerated) Roll: 114230 MD 3: 3 As Venom Snapper charged in Alec stepped forward boldly to swing his axe down at the mutated wolf in mid charge as Alec planted his lead foot he felt it roll on a loose rock lying in the ground and felt his ankle twist and turn causing him to pinwheel his arms to no avail and landing him flat on his back. Venom Snapper was in mid lunge as this happened so sailed clear over Alec's prone form landing beyond him harmlessly. Venom Snapper's pack member leaped right behind its alpha and also clear over Alec's flattened body to also land harmlessly beyond him as well. Alec found himself laying flat on his back after turning his ankle mid swing and ending up prone on the ground. He placed his hands on the ground and quickly picked himself up slapping st the dust and dirt in his legs as he and brought his shield up in defense between himself and the two remaining wolves as they turned after their harmless leap over his prone form and lunged back at him. Alec quickly brought his axe back up over his shoulder to swing down at Venom Snapper as it led the charge. When the mutated wolf came into range Alec swung his axe down in a diagonal swing that caught the creature in the shoulder and opened a large cut there that shot red pixels into the air from it as Venom Snapper continued on Alec slid his shield in the way and knocked Venom Snapper to the side and away from him before it could strike him. The trailing pack member lunged at Alec thinking to sneak in behind Venom Snapper but Alec brought his shield back around and caught the Wolf on it. The Wolf thrashed and bit till it snagged Alec's shoulder and opened a small cut there while Alec's shield began to hum then SNAP it arced a current of static electricity it had stored into the wolf causing it to shudder and shack till it exploded in a shower of red pixels that danced and twirled in the air till there was nothing left if it. Venom Snapper let out a howl of pure range and lurched back at Alec with hate and death in its eyes. Venom Snapper had a new look in its eye that Alec hadn't seen before it wasn't because its health had dropped to yellow it had happened when he'd killed its last pack member but Alec didn't have time to contemplate on what it all meant so he just pulled his shield up in front of him to defend against the maddened creature and brought his Mithril Battle Axe back up over his shoulder to attack the beast when it came near. Spoiler Roll: 114223 BD: 1 (Critical Fail) Venom Snapper: 7 (Success) 35 DMG - 40 MIT = 1 DMG (Thorns Activates 9 Unmitigated DMG) CD: 10 (+ 1 EN Regenerated) As Venom Snapper closed with Alex at break neck speed Alec swung down with his axe but was far too early in his attack and missed horribly causing his momentum to carry him forward into a forward roll/summersault/forward flip that launched him into the air and deposited him flat on his back again. Venom Snapper charged in and pounced on top of Alec's prone body pinning him under his shield as the mutated wolf tore into Alec's shoulder opening a small cut there that trickled red pixels. Fortunately Alec's shield responded and began humming until SNAP it arced out and shocked Venom Snapper with a built up charge of static electricity causing the creature to yelp and leap back off of Alec's prone body. If any other Players were witnessing this Alec would be mortified. Alec rolled onto his feet and slapped at some of the larger patches of dust on him before bringing his shield up in front if him to defend himself from Venom Snapper and his relentless assault. He raised his Mithril Battle Axe up over his shoulder again to prepare for a swing when the mutated wolf attacked again. Spoiler Roll: 114234 BD: 9 +2 ACC - 1 EVA = 10 (Critical + 1) 5 DMG + 1 Crit = 6 DMG (Paralyze Activates - 1 round No Actions) Venom Snapper: 1 (Critical Fail) CD: 9 (+ 1 EN Regenerated) As Venom Snapper charged in Alec swung down as hard as he could and connected squarely with the mutated wolf's shoulder opening a large rent there that jetted red pixels while at the same time Alec's shield began to hum deeply until it let out an ear splitting CRACK and arced a huge burst of static electricity into the creature causing its muscles to contract and seize paralyzing it for a short time. Alec wrenched his axe free and drive it home again as the wolf stood convulsing and spasming.
