Alec swung his axe down with everything he could summon and felt his mirror finished axe head bury itself deeply within the creatures body again opening a large rent in it's flesh that spewed red pixels from it as his shield again began a deep heavy hum that raised the hairs in Alec's beard before CRACK it arced an enormous charge if static electricity into Venom Snapper that caused its muscles to seize and lock up again just as it was starting to shake off the effects of the last shock that Paralyzed the creature again. Alec said a small prayer under his breath as he focused intently at the mutated wolf as he thrust his Mithril Battle Axe up to the sky and called on the energy to power another Sword Art. Alec felt the energy respond instantly to his call as it began coursing through him like an uncontrolled torrent as it sought out his Mithril Battle Axe and surged into to fill it to a near overwhelming point as the axe began visibly vibrating and the mirror finished head began to glow brightly. When Alec wasn't sure he could hold it any longer he pulled at ever fiber of his resolve and willpower and swung the axe down aiming for Venom Snapper's neck as it stood there its muscles convulsing and twitching locked in place Paralyzed. As he swung his axe down aiming for the neck if Venom Snapper he released the energy too early and sent it flying harmlessly off into the distance. As his swing missed the mutated wolf who stood twitching and convulsing Paralyzed. Alec took a deep breath to calm his nerves. As he told himself he was a tank and his fights were one of attrition. He could take way more hits than his opponent could so there was no need to rush plus he had Humphrey to back him up if things got real ugly. With that Alec brought his Mithril Battle Axe up over his shoulder and prepared for Venom Snapper to attack. Alec took a few calming breaths and reminded himself he was a Tank and his fights were ones of attrition not speed. He needed to stay calm and let his enemy wear themselves down in his defenses and to try going for speed kills. Alec reset his resolve and squared up to Venom Snapper bring his shield to bear in front if him as he raised his axe to strike when the mutated wolf came close enough to strike. The mutated wolf leapt at Alec and collided with his shield scratching and biting at its surface till it finally got a claw through and opened another small cut on Alec's cheek while his shield began to hum in response to Venom Snapper's contact till SNAP it sparked a current of static electricity into the mutated wolf causing it to yelp and skitter away gaining distance from Alec. Alec tore his axe free from his opponent and brought his shield back in front of him as he raised his axe again to slam it down on the Paralyzed body of the mutated wolf Venom Snapper as it stood its muscles twitching and convulsing locked from the electrical shock they had received from Alec's shield. The mutated wolf merely stood there its muscles twitching and convulsing as it stood completely Paralyzed for the attack. Finally it began to regain control if its muscles and began moving in a halting and jerking manner as it lunged for Alec causing him to whip his shield up in front of him for protection and raise his axe ready to attack again. Meanwhile Venom Snapper dove in like a missile and latched its slavering jaws around Aleve bicep and bit down with a ferocious amount if force tear a large chunk of Alec's arm open and releasing a thick stream of red pixels as a burning sensation unlike any Aleve had felt before began coursing through his veins. This must be the poison the Merchant had talked about that Alec felt coursing and burning through his body. Alec looked to his friend and companion Humphrey "Now my friend, please lend me your healing strength." As he reached into one of his Battle Ready inventory pouches and pulled out the vial of Antidote he had been given by Gatsly the Merchant for just this exact situation. Alec took the vial and ripped the cork free with his teeth and spat it aside as he lifted the vial to his lips and began to drink the mint flavored concoction in two large gulps. He felt the liquids cool contents flow down his throat and begin to spread through his veins mildly soothing but not eliminating the poisons burn. Alec brought his shield up and readied himself for another attack from Venom Snapper as he felt the soothing healing energy from Humphrey begin to flow through him relieving . Alec felt the tingly warmth of Humphrey's healing wash over him as the mutated wolf dove at him Alec brought his shield around and block the abomination knocking it aside before it could do him any harm. Alec readied himself for Venom Snapper's next onslaught by raising his shield up to provide his defense and hefting his Mithril Battle Axe up over his shoulder so that he could swing it down as soon at the mutated wolf came within his striking range. He continued to feel the effects if Venom Snapper's poison burning its way through his veins drawing on his energy and weakening him. Alec brought his shield back to it's ready position and raised his axe over his shoulder to swing again at the mutated wolf when it advanced. Venom Snapper leaped at Alec a drove itself into his shield as it thrashed and clawed trying to breach Alec's defenses. Finally the mutated wolf managed to open a small slash in Alec's side that trickled out red pixels at the same time as Alec's shield began a steady hum that ended with a SNAP jolting Venom Snapper with an arc of static electricity that had been stored within the shield. Causing the mutated wolf to leap back to safety. Venom Snapper charged in again and as the mutated wolf closed with Alec he swung his Mithril Battle Axe around and buried its mirrored head deep into the mutated wolf's body and open a huge cut there. Venom Snapper lunged at Alec and managed to get past Alec's defenses causing his shield to jolt Venom Snapper with an arc of static electricity. Alec readied his defenses by raising his Shield before him and prepared to attack by raising his Mithril Battle Axe up over his shoulder and prepared to swing once Venom Snapper came into range. Spoiler Roll: 114250 BD: 1 +1 ACC - 1 EVA = 1 (Critical Fail) Venom Snapper: 2 (Fail) CD: 11 (+ 1 EN Regenerated) As Venom Snapper charged in Alec swung his Mithril Battle Axe down but as he stepped into his swing he twisted his ankle and fell to the ground landing on his shoulder. As Alec crashed to the ground Venom Snapper leaped at Alec jaws wide and snapping the mutated wolf flew over the top of Alec and landed beyond him as if playing a game of leap frog. Alec scrambled to his feet knocking dirt and dust from himself as he rose bringing his shield up before him and raising his Mithril Battle Axe up over his shoulder to bring down on Venom Snapper when he closed again within range of Alec's weapon. Alec crashed to the ground again with his last swing landing in his shoulder and hamming it slightly as Venom Snapper dove in at Alec it wasn't expecting the big man to topple over like he did so the mutated wolf's attack ended up being merely a leap over the big man as if the pair were playing a game of leap frog. Alec planted his hands firmly on the ground and pushed himself up and regained his feet knocking stray dirt and dust off himself as he rose. Alec locked eyes with his adversary as he brought his shield up before him setting his defenses and raised his Mithril Battle Axe up over his shoulder ready to strike as soon as Venom Snapper came within striking distance of his axe. Almost immediately Venom Snapper launched itself at Alec with a rate filled desperation as the beast cane neat Alec calmly swung his Mithril Battle Axe down at the crazed creature that was hurtling towards him. Spoiler Roll: 114295 BD: 6 + 2 ACC - 1 EVA = 7 (Success) 5 DMG Venom Snapper: 4 (Fail) CD: 7 (+ 1 EN Regenerated) As Venom Snapper charged in Alec stood his ground calmly waiting for the mutated wolf to come within range of his Mithril Battle Axe. When the crazed beast came within Alec's reach he swung out with his mirror polished Axe and sank it derp within the monsters back open a large tear that vented a large amount of red pixels into the air. As Alec wrenched his axe free of the beast he brought his shield around and knocked the crazed animal aside as he shifted his stance to stay with the animal as it was deflected off to the side. Alec brought his Mithril Battle Axe back up over his shoulder poised to strike the finishing blow when the beast returned for it's next attack. When Venom Snapper came within striking distance of Alec he brought his Mithril Battle Axe around in a sweeping loop that slammed the mirror finished head if his axe derp into the mutated wolf's back open a large tear there all while bringing his shield up and knocking the creature aside with a casual careful movement of his shield. Alec followed the Wolf's path with his body resetting his shield for maximum defense and cocking his Mithril Battle Axe up over his shoulder ready to swing down the final blow when the creature came back within range. Once the mutated wolf reached Alec he swung his axe around in a strong wide swing that slammed into the beast and buried its head deep into Venom Snapper's side. The impact caused Venom Snapper to begin to shake and shimmer as it let out a pained mournful howl as it's body exploded in a shower of red pixels that flew into the air and rained down disappearing into nothing. Alec 0 Posted April 8, 2019 Author #53 Report Share Posted April 8, 2019 As Venom Snapper disappeared in a twinkling shower or red pixels Alec hefted his axe up and dropped it on his shoulder as he heard a triumphant chime and noticed a quest item was sitting on the ground where Venom Snapper had just been. Alec reached down and picked it up turning it over in his hands as he read the item tag attached to it. The tag read <<Venom Vial>> and he nodded to himself as he placed the quest item in his inventory. Spoiler <<Venom Vial>> Item Type: Potion Tier: 1 Quality: Uncommon Enhancements: On a natural BD roll of 9-10, deals 10 unmitigatable DMG for 4 turns. Lasts one thread. Description: A vial of toxic venom retrieved from the drippings of a <<Venom Snapper>>'s teeth. Takes a post action to apply to a weapon. Alec turned to look at his friend and companion Humphrey shooting him a sly sideways grin as he looked over his shoulder and shot the bear cub a wink. "That one actually had a little bit of a punch there." Alec said to his friend. "Thanks for that assist there buddy." Alec said rustling the neck hair on the back of Humphrey's neck and behind his ears. "You had my back and I appreciate that." he said. "Now let's get out of here and find that Merchant Gatsly at the Bears Den Inn and wrap this quest up. The pair began walking away from the site where he had just defeated Venom Snapper and his pack of wolves when Aleve stopped dead in his tracks and looked down at Humphrey. "You know what pal I fell we had some pretty good luck here already with as easy as that fight ended up being but let's push our luck a little. Help look around and see if there's anything valuable hidden here. There must be some reason Venom Snapper decided to hang out here." With that Alec began a meticulous search if the area for anything if value in particular if he could find any hidden treasure chests that might have been stolen from any other Merchants. Spoiler Roll: 114301 LD: 12 Alec searched for what felt like a decent amount of time but was unable to find anything hidden in the area. With a shrug he turned to Humphrey and said "Oh well pal. Looks like there's nothing here to find, that or it's hidden much better than my ability to find it. It was worth a shot. Let's get out of here and back to Urbus so we can let Gatsly know we took care of his problem for him. What do you say?" Humphrey responded with a resounding growl of approval and began walking away from the site of the recent combat. Alec 0 Posted April 8, 2019 Author #55 Report Share Posted April 8, 2019 Alec and Humphrey began walking side by side away from the mountain range behind them down the sloping pine Forest back toward the crater that housed the Second Floor's main town of Urbus. As Alec walked along enjoying the sights and sounds of this digital forest he began humming to himself as he casually walked with his trusted friend and companion by his side. Alec noted the scents of pine needles and sap as he made his way through the forest. He spotted the scents of fresh dirt and peat moss as he made his way easily through the woods heading for the town of Urbus and the Bears Den Inn where Gatsly the Merchant sat waiting for Alec to return and complete his latest quest. Alec took the time to appreciate the peace and quiet out here as he made his way through the wooded slightly sloping terrain with his best friend by his side. You could almost forget non of this was real if you stopped and let yourself believe but Alec couldn't do that a lot of work and effort had been put into fooling the senses but in reality it was all still fake. Alec shook his head and sighed as he continued his walk. Alec 0 Posted April 8, 2019 Author #56 Report Share Posted April 8, 2019 Alec eventually made his way out of the pine tree forest and to the edge of the crater that housed the Second Floor's main town of Urbus. Alec walked down the slanted cut back trail that led down into the crater. The trail was worn down to hard packed dirt from countless pairs a feet walking the path and rutted by numerous carts and Merchant wagons traveling this path into the town to do business within Urbus. When Alec had reached the bottom of the crater he continued to make his way along the hard packed dirt path that lead to the front gate and the courtyard beyond that Alec could see clearly from where he was. The courtyard still looked filled with people both standing and milling about and as Alec grew closer he could begin to hear a dull murmuring drifting from those gathered within the courtyard as they talked and conversed amongst themselves. Alec 0 Posted April 8, 2019 Author #57 Report Share Posted April 8, 2019 Alec passed through the main gate of Urbus and walked till he stood at the center of the courtyard where he stopped and reached out his hand and made a quick downward swiping movement which opened up his inventory. Alec perused through the list of items contained within and smiled to himself. His list of items he'd collected was beginning to grow. He scrolled through the list and stopped when he reached the icon for his equipped Mithril Battle Axe and reached out his large hand and gently touched the icon Wich represented it. His Mithril Battle Axe immediately began to shimmer and waver as it disappeared from the loop hanging at his hip. Next he scrolled through his items and tapped on the icon for his Shield of the Thunderhearts and that too shimmered and wavered before disappearing into thin air. Link to post Share on other sites

Alec reached out and tapped that item as well causing the Heavy Armor shoulder guards to shimmer and waver underneath his bear skin shoulder wrap and eventually disappear as well. With all of his weapons and armor unequipped Alec closed his inventory and looked down to Humphrey and shot the bear cub a warm smile. "You did great today Humphrey. Thank you very much for having my back." Alec stated as he rustled the bear cubs fur on the back if its neck and behind its ears. Let's head to the Inn and talk to Gatsly then it's a pair if big steaks for us. We earned them after all." With that Alec set of at an easy long legged stride through the streets of Urbus headed for the Bears Den Inn. Humphrey kept pace easily beside Alec as the pair made their way through town to the Inn where the Merchant was who ended their quest and where their rented room was. Alec 0 Posted April 8, 2019 Author #59 Report Share Posted April 8, 2019 Alec and Humphrey made there way to the Bears Den Inn where they had first met the Merchant Gatsly and received their quest to hunt down and destroy the mutated wolf Venom Snapper. As Alec opened the door to the Inn and entered the common room he immediately pucked up the scent of the wood fire burning in the hearth as the smell tickled his nose. He looked across the bar and in the same place he had been before sat the dejected and down trodden form of Gatsly the Merchant staring forlornly down into his mug of ale. Alec strode over to the bar his boots making deep heavy thumps on the hardwood floor as he approached the man. As he drew near Gatsly raised his red rimmed eyes but as he caught sight of Alec he immediately brightened. "Oh please Sir tell me you have good news for my?" the man pleaded. Alec shot the man a wide grin of victory as he clapped the merchant heavily on the back. "Fear not Mr Gatsly Venom Snapper has been destroyed and I offer this as proof." Alec announced as he pulled out the <<Venom Vial>> and offered it to Gatsly for inspection. Link to post Share on other sites

I can now continue my caravans and will soon be able to care for and provide for my family again! Thank you so much! Here I must reward you take this same token as a gift of my overwhelming and eternal gratitude!" the Merchant gushed as he reached into a pocket and pulled out 500 Col and 4 Tier 1 Materials placing them on the bar and sliding them to Alec with an elated grin of happiness and gratitude. Alec looked over to the Innkeeper and quickly order a mug of ale himself before looking back at the Merchant. "My thanks." Alec replied "It was a pleasure to help and it makes me happy that you can now care for and provide for your family." Alec toasted the Merchant and took a long slow pull from the frosty mug of ale. "Now if you'll excuse me." Alec said I promised my friend here a large delicious steak so we're gone to leave you to enjoy some dinner." Alec told the Merchant as he stood up from the bar and headed over to sit down at one of the empty wooden tables in the Inn's common room with Humphrey walking beside him.
