Alec 0 Posted May 4, 2019 Author #21 Report Share Posted May 4, 2019 Alec staggered and stumbled along arms wrapped tightly about his chest trying to conserve his body heat despite the pain the contact with his ravaged skin caused when suddenly his footing gave way and he began an uncontrolled half slide half tumble as he toppled into a cammoflaged hole he hadn't seen before. As he came to an ungraceful halt in a pile at the bottom of this hole half concealed by a tarp he noticed he was sitting in what appeared to be a hidden campsite. He instantly began feeling around till he found a pile of kindling sitting within a ring of stones he quickly pulled out his axe and began striking it upon one of the stones till a spark sprang from the rock and sailed into the kindling sparking and igniting the wood into a tiny camp fire. With a fire lit Alec began to search his surroundings and before too long he found a large flat stone which was concealing a hidden hole beneath it. As Alec removed the stone and inspected the hole he found a crate hidden within. As he inspected the crate he found it full of fresh fruits. This surely was the supplies the woman had spoken of. This must be worth a fortune Spoiler on this floor fresh fruits in such an in hospitable place as this haf to of value he thought to himself. As he quickly opened his inventory and placed the crate inside he looked over to his friend and companion Humphrey. "That was really something wasn't it buddy?" Alec asked with a shake if his head and a not so real smile at the American Black Bear cub. Humphrey lifted its head from it had been resting it upon his paws and shook his head violently dislodging a giant cloud of sand that rained down everywhere inside the camp site. Alec curled up and shied away from the huge sandy cloud. "Easy there friend."Alec reproached with a smile and chuckle as he fled from the cloud. Humphrey replied with a large growl and returned its head to its paws to rest. Alec felt the exhaustion if the day as well and let out a sonorous yawn before lying down and wrapping himself in his bear skin wrap and drifting off to sleep. The sound was loud and angry and a warning!! What was wrong Alec thought to himself as he reached over and grabbed his axe and shield as he rolled into a standing position in time to see four dark shapes descending over the edge of the camp site when gleaming knives in hand as they slunk along through the dark. Now that their cover had been blown they let out an unearthly wail as they raised their daggers and charged. Alec reached out and called to the energy to power a Sword Art as he brought his axe high and his shield before him ready to do Battle once more. When power surging into his weapon reached its maximum Alec swung out like he was chopping a tree down by as his mirror finished axe buried itsef deeply into each of the attacking Bandits three times each. However when her axe head sank deeply into the second Bandit Alec's shield began a low hum that ended in a loud CRACK as static electricity arced from his Shield into the Bandit causing him to become Paralyzed as his muscles seized and contracted. The Bandits threw themselves at Alec slashing and wailing as their knives scraped harmlessly off Alec's shield. As they did Alec's shield began to hum then SNAP it arced out shocking three of the four attacking Bandits with stored up charges of static electricity shocking them in the process. When the power had reached its peak Alec swung down and sank his axe head into the keading Bandits shoulder once again causing the lightning to explode and arc into the Bandit's body. The lead Bandit responded by slashing at Alec with his knife which was mostly deflected by Alec's shield and armor. As the Bandits knife cut into Alec's skin his Shield began to hum then SNAP it arced out shocking the lead bandit and two of his followers as their blades too pierced Alec's flesh. Alec shifted his focus the leading Bandit's health bar was red one more burst from his shield and the first Bandit was dead so Alec set his sights in the second Bandit in the group and reached out for the the energy to power a Sword Art again praying for it to respond he was dangerously low bon energy and couldn't afford to waste any. As the energy reached its maximum potential Alec swung down and sank his charged axe head into the second Bandit's shoulder open s large gash there as the lightning surged out if his axe and into the Bandit. The leading Bandit stabbed at Alec but he easily deflected the knife blade away. Unfortunately Alec focused too much on defending against the lead Bandit and striking the second Bandit that all three remaining Bandits landed solid critical strikes against Alec with their knives. He had to stay focused or he was going to die here in this fight. Suddenly he heard a warning chirp he had never heard before as he looked up and saw with alarm that his health bar had turned yellow and was slightly below half its total. This had never happened before and it startled and concerned Alec greatly causing him to frantically reach into one of his Battle Ready Items pouches and pull out one of Tier 1 Healing Potions. He raised the vial up and tore the cork free with his teeth spitting it to the side as he quickly gulped the entire contents of the vial and dropped it to the ground where it shattered in and explosion if pixels. Alec felt the warm glow in healing as the potion circulated through his body mending wounds. He licked his lips tasting a faint hint of strawberry as he brought his shield back up and prepared to defend himself against the Bandits besieging him currently. As his knife bit in Alec's shield began to hum till SNAP it arced out shocking the Bandit and causing his form to begin to shudder and shake before exploding in a shower of pixels that rained down. The second Bandit was so startled he missed his strike at Alec. The other two were more focused and landed strikes but only one was repaid in kind by Alec's shield humming before SNAP it arced out shocking him. His hit points were still woefully low and in the yellow while theirs were still in the green. Alec did the only thing he could think of and reached back into his Battle Ready Items pouch and pulled out another Tier 1 Healing Potion and as he brought it up to his mouth glanced over at his companion Humphrey and in his deep baritone rumble called out. "Hit me again pal." as he bit the cork out if the vial and slammed its contents as he had the last tossing it to the side to shatter into pixels like its predecessor. Tasting the faint hit of strawberry again and the warm healing glow from the potion and his friend Humphrey he raised his shield again and prepared for the Bandits attacks. The three remaining Bandits stabbed at him with their daggers. Two managed to score hits on Alec one he diminished partially as his shield hummed before SNAP arcing out at the Bandit the other strike slid past and sank deeply into his ribs again. The final Bandit Alec was able to maneuver his shield in the way to block his attack completely. He was in a bad state but refused to give up he'd fight to the end if this is where it would be. Alec took a deep breath to calm his racing heart as he brought his shield back up to defend himself from the Bandits as he raised his Mithril Battle Axe up over his shoulder readied himself for their next attack. The leading Bandit stabbed in at Aleve under his shield and buried his knife deeply into Alec's stomach open a lathe cut there. Alec managed to swing his shield to the side blocking the middle Bandits knife attack completely as the last Bandit's knife drug across Alec's shield finally landing a cut across his arm that caused his shield to begin to hum till SNAP it arced out and shocked the Bandit with a stored up charge of static electricity. As the leading Bandit stabbed at Alec he maneuvered his shield in the way and blocked the dagger to the side easily. The middle Bandit thrust his blade forward and clipped Alec in the arm as Alec's Shield of the Thunderhearts began humming till SNAP it arced out and shocked the Bandit with a stored up charge of static electricity. The trailing Bandit however lunged in and sank his blade to the hilt in Alec ribs causing red pixels to gush from the deep laceration. It was a little help and the last he had. It was do or die time crunch time the fourth quarter and he had to pull it together or he was going to die here he thought to himself. If that happened he'd never see Gwen or Danny again and he couldn't allow that to happen. Alec brought his shield up and as the leading Bandit thrust in Alec slammed his hand with his shield knocking blade free and forcing the Bandit to retreat as he searched for his loose weapon. The middle Bandit took advantage of the confusion and lunged in planting his knife deeply into Alec side and opening a large cut there that spewed red pixels from it. At the same time the trail Bandit thrust in and cut Alec across the shoulder as his shield began to hum before SNAP it arced out shocking the Bandit. That, it he was no where near as ready to join the Front Lines as he'd hoped he was. Either way this was where it stood. Just as his fingers closed on the hilt Alec enacted Guillotine and slammed his charged axe in the back if the Bandits neck delivering a devastating blow that caused his shield the begin humming deeply before CRACK it arced out a large charge if static electricity into the Bandit causing his muscles to seize and contract Paralyzing him on the ground. The two other Bandits thrust in with their knives the middle Bandit landing a deep strike in Alec's ribs that opened a large slash there. The trailing Bandit thrust in and slashed Alec on the arm causing his shield to begin to hum before SNAP it arced again and shocked the Bandit with another stored up charge if static electricity. As Alec fought he again felt the warm comforting tingle if Humphrey's healing energy filling him and flowing through closing his wounds. The lead and middle Bandit thrust there knives into Alec open two new cuts in his body and leaked more red pixels. As the lead Bandits knife entered Alec his shield began to hum before SNAP it arced out and shocked the Bandit with one of it stored up charges if static electricity. The middle Bandits knife strike opened a deep cut in Alec's side that left a gaping slash there. As the trailing Bandit drove his knife at Alec he shifted his shield and deflected the attack harmlessly to the side and away from himself. As the fight continued the wind picked up and blew a solid wall of sand that dug into Alec's flesh and scoured his open wounds with sand as if an electric sander had been taken to his skin and open knife cuts. Alec knew he was done there was no way he could defeat these Bandits. There had been too many if them and they had been too strong. Alec's only chance of surviving long enough to free himself from this virtual prison and seeing his family again was to try and run away using the last blast from the sand storm to try and sneak away. If he didn't he would most assuredly end up dead. Not even corpse here to be found simply gone forever. Maybe his name would appear in the monument to the fallen in the Town of Beginnings maybe not. But that's not what Alec wanted. He wanted live so he could join the Front Lines and help free everyone from this abominable place. So run it was. With everything Alec possessed he gritted his teeth turned tail and ran out of the crater into the night. Please don't think worse of me Humphrey I have something far greater than myself to live for and I intend to see them both again he thought forcefully as he pumped his arms and legs harder attempting to lose the Bandits in the sand storm. He hadn't gotten completely away as the Bandits we're now in pursuit chasing him through the darkness and blowing sand of the open desert. Alec pumped his arms furiously and pistoned his legs with all his might his only thought of getting free so he could eventually see his lively wife Gwen and his amazing so Danny once more. They were all that mattered, they were what drive him, they were what he needed to live for to see them and holds them in his arms once again. Spoiler Roll: 116333 LD: 6 + 1 (Low HP) + 1 (Previous partial) = 8 (Partial Success) CD: 5 (Nothing) Alec continued to run for all he was worth but his massive body frame was built for power and strength not speed so he was disheartened to hear the Bandits continuing their pursuit of him through the billowing sand storm if the open desert his arms and legs pumping up and down as he struggled to achieve more speed. Speed was life now and he needed every drop he could squeeze out as he dug down into his reserves of resolve and will power as he pushed for more speed.
