Mina was standing outside a tent, the site of a quest location. A female NPC by the name of Evangeline Calora. She was a master alchemist that offered to teach those willing to learn about this profession. Alchemy had always interested her, and made her excited to try and design powerful potions, salves, and crystals, that could make someone's life easier. In this world, potions and crystals were a definite must-have, especially the teleport crystals. Teleport, healing, mass-healing, and antidote crystals were so expensive to buy, but when you made them yourself... they were loads cheaper! Mina smiled faintly when Evangeline offered to educate her in the ways of potion crafting, and all she had to do was go grab five of them. "It shouldn't take me too long, miss" she said softly, bowing respectfully to the NPC. "I'll be back soon." Mina began walking off, munching on an LD snack that she had received from a cook recently. that, plus the buff from her cloak and the search skill should be more than enough!

 Battle: 7

Loot: 5 (+5 is 10, no dice owo)

 MOB: 4

Mina had decided to just search near the tent where the master Alchemist had decided to set up her shop. she was having little to no luck when it came to searching, however. The searching skill had malfunctioned briefly, and she ended up picking up a snake by its tail (Cue a loud shriek from mina as she flung the serpentine mob away from herself), nearly scaring herself half to death. after she recovered from her temporary fright, she realized that in her surprised flailing, she'd destroyed the bush that she had found the poor mob within, along with quite a bit of the surrounding underbrush. She let out a sigh of annoyance, before moving to go climb up a tree, a bored look crossing her face as she did so. messing around with monsters, trees, and bushes was not her cup of tea at the current moment. It was also... rather irritating.

Mina managed to find a large stalk that was rooted deeply in the ground. After a bit of digging, she managed to uproot it, producing a beautiful looking material that looked like it would be perfect for a salve of some sort. She immediately proceeded to shove it into her inventory, smiling faintly at the object. She immediately began digging around again, hoping to find a few more materials that were of a similar size. She knew that there was a high likelyhood that she wasn't going to find something in the same area for the second time. It was a bit of a stretch, to say the least. Even then, she was just supposed to search for a bit, find the materials, and then bring them back to the alchemist so that she could try and craft a salve with them. It wasn't going to be too difficult, since most of the potions weren't necessarily that hard to craft.

mina let out a whoop when she finally managed to find another material, this one a large, juicy looking fruit. She smiled faintly when she realized that it was in a tree that was absolutely swarming with various types of insectoid mobs. She immediately rushed in, swiping at the small bugs, easily crushing them as they made to try and attack her. It wasn't too much longer before she managed to grab the giant fruit, and she simply decided to swan dive off of the tree branch, as she was being chased rather quickly by the insects... including a rather pissed-off looking Praying mantis that looked like it wanted to rip her into tiny little pieces... which didn't exactly match what she had done. All she'd done was grab the giant fruit! was it really worth chasing her over?!

Mina ended up being forced into a small brawl with the mantis, the NPC watching her flail around with a bemused expression. Mina managed to rip off one of the damned things arms, even though it had badly clawed up her arm. She let out a roar, before stabbing into it one final time, and causing it to shatter into  thousands of crystalline shards. she watched them dissipate, a bored look crossing her face. It wasn't like it was a necessarily dangerous monster. In fact, it was a rather weak monster that looked like a level 5 player could've taken it down! How pathetic of a creature, to decide to attack a higher-leveled player in the early floors. She did kind of feel bad for it, though that was only after several minutes of ruminating about the situation. Even then, it still decided to attack her. Unless she was able to get it to lose aggro against her, it was a death match, regardless of the situation. That's how most battles against monsters were.

Mina sighed with relief when she found yet another material that she would be able to work with. This one was a tangle of roots from one of the large, leafy plants that were nearby. It had taken the better part of 10 minutes to be able to yank it out of the ground, and it didn't seem to be in one piece, either. the roots were large, and a purplish red in color, with a faint strip of white towards the base of the roots, and reminded her of parsnips. She smiled faintly when she recognized that it was a bit like a parsnip in texture as well, though it smelled like a sweet potato. It would certainly make anything that she crafted have a nice texture and smell, whether it was drinkable or not. she gently began wiping of the material to clean it of the rest of the dirt that was on the large root. The NPC seemed pleased by her progress, and seemed to be doing some brewing of her own, trying to craft a potion.

... Apparently, the potion making was not going very well for the NPC, who ended up having the potion explode in her face, scaring both herself and Mina in the process. Mina face-faulted when she saw that the woman was trying to salvage the mistake, and was working feverishly over the item. Mina simply watched for a while, smiling at Mrs. Calora with an amused look on her face. Eventually, that smirk changed to one of surprise when she not only managed to salvage the potion, but craft a second one at the same time! she blinked in surprise, before letting out a surprised gasp when she remembered that alchemists, Performers, and Cooks all had the ability to provide either a unique effect, or an extra item from the materials used! it made it rather worthwhile to work with. Mina smiled when she realized the benefits of being an Alchemist.

mina continued to watch the NPC from where she was sitting, since she noticed that the woman was just fiddling around with the cauldron now. Apparently she was only adjusting the flame for something, before she moved about, crushing some ingredients, juicing some fruits. using seeds from various types of plants, the stems from one species, the flowers of another, and the roots of yet another. None of the ingredients seemed to make sense at all! It was a bit much to comprehend, as there was quite a large amount of different ingredients used just to make one potion... or was it just one. The NPC let out a cry of triumph, and pulled out a trio of bottles, before scooping the beautiful, silvery potion that she had just brewed into the three bottles. Three. The NPC had just crafted Three potions out of just the one batch of brew. Mina blinked, before walking off in order to find the rest of the materials.

Mina was staring up into a tree, a bored look on her face. There was a large vine that had several large flowers on it that resembled roses. Mina sighed, before stretching her non-existent virtual muscles, and making a wild dash up the tree to grab the item. She let out a whoop when she managed to grab the large material, and, after a few moments... the vine ended up snapping completely. Mina had one of the giant flowers in her arms, and found herself falling head-first to the ground, at a rather fast speed. She felt a bead of sweat roll down her cheek, and just closed her eyes, hoping she didn't end up eating s**t by smacking into the ground. there was an echoing thud that sounded in the immediate area as mina hit the ground, kicking up a small shockwave that disturbed several small animals on the forest floor. She let out a pitiful moan, before flopping over onto her back, still holding the giant flower.

Mina closed her eyes, still feeling slightly dazed from her fall from the tree. she had fallen quite the long way down, and had actually ended up taking around 20 damage from falling out of the tree like that. Normally fall damage wasn't something that actually affected players for any reason unless they fell from a height that would actually kill them in the real world, then they usually took damage according to how far they fell. From what Mina knew about the various ways to fall, the only real ways to die from fall damage were to take a jump off a really high cliff without water to cushion your fall, take a tumble off of one of the many mountains on various floors, throw yourself off of Aincrad (Often referred to as "Abandoning the Ship!" by players with rather dark humor), or by falling off of one of the support pillars that held Aincrad together.

Mina finally managed to sit back up, shaking her head in order to fix her mind after the long tumble. She had already long since shoved the materials that she had found into her inventory, a sleepy look on her face. She still had to finish the quest, whether she actually wanted to or not. It honestly wasn't up to her at the current moment, since she desperately needed to be able to craft items. It would certainly make her life so much easier. Especially working with alchemy items. It mean't that she wouldn't have to risk becoming dependent on players like Mars who were royal pricks. If she had to go to his shop for anything, Anything, it would be a cold day in hell, and damn near too soon. She just wanted to be able to work on things on her own, and actually end up as a supportive player. being unable to help anyone in any way possible made her feel weak, and useless when she thought of her powerful comrades.

Mina eventually managed to get up and at least start walking around to search for some more materials. The NPC had gone back to potion-making after bonking her with a rather weak healing crystal. at least it had woken her up, and she was actually alert now. Apparently she had been still half asleep because of how early she had woken up today. getting a head start on searching for the quest NPC was essential to getting started with her new profession. She remembered when she did some minor crafting for the NPC Alchemist in the town of beginnings, and how easy it was to make the potion that he requested. A simple healing potion was what she had been working on. Of course, it wasn't difficult, and she'd easily managed to get a rare-quality item for him. Maybe she could have the same luck now?

Mina began making a sprint back to the camp, a terrified look on her face. Apparently, when you decide to contest a large bear for a large Arachnid (Mina considered herself many things, and someone who was afraid of an insect was not one of those things) that looks like it would make a nice treat, you cause a fight to break out. Mina wasn't exactly prepared to brawl with a monster for any reason, so she just decided to run away, and hid in a tree, praying that the damned thing just kept on going, and left her alone. luckily, it actually did leave her alone, and mina just shoved the amber-colored spider into her inventory. She slid down the tree, a tired look crossing her face a second time. She simply decided to begin the long trek back to the camp, ignoring any of the monsters that tried to aggro on her.

Mina was working with one of the materials, the giant fruit. She was given guidance by the NPC every so often, and she commented every now and then that she was doing fairly well for someone who had only brewed up anything before... and of course, as it usually was with something like this, she ended up adding something that she wasn't supposed to and... Boom! mina blinked, her eyes wide with surprise at the colossal mess that she had somehow created just by adding too much of the fruit. The NPC didn't berate her, though, and simply laughed at her. Apparently, she wasn't the first player to have blown up a cauldron trying to make something. She wandered back over to her tent, before coming back a few moments later with a brand new one. Mina blinked with a confused look on her face. Time for round two, she mused, before pulling out the large flower from earlier.

Mina gently started to fiddle around with the flower, peeling off the occasional petal in order to add it to the smaller cauldron. She added a few more of the petals, before mixing in some of the seeds from the plant, and stirring it for a bit. Eventually, the mixture seemed to thicken up a bit, before solidifying into something that resembled a type of cream. she tapped it with a container, and it formed into an elegant little bottle filled with the fragrant. Mina checked the stats of it, taking note that it was a healing salve, albeit a very weak one. the alchemist clapped her hands in delight, smiling at mina with a happy expression. She passed the other items back to mina, and smiled at her, before a quest completion menu popped up in front of her. The quest was officially finished. Mina smiled faintly, before getting up to get moving.

Mina wandered off to the deeper part of the forest after the NPC had given her the ok to leave the clearing. She was tossing another material up in the air, a bored look on her face. The extra materials, test tube set, and the container-crafting kit were fairly nice, and something that she appreciated greatly. Mina had blushed at one of the woman's suggestions, so she had quickly packed up and left, heading back towards town... at least, that was where she thought she had been going. It turned out that she had somehow managed to get lost, and was actually way deeper within the forest than she initially thought. A bead of sweat dripped down her face as she stared at a map cube, a nervous look on her face. "Mou... w-where the hell do I need to go?!" she whimpered, her worry and nervousness increasing rather quickly over the next few seconds. she patted the salve that was in her inventory, a nervous look on her face. If she somehow managed to get in a fight, it would at least heal a small portion of her health, making her not as worried as she normally would be. Hopefully she didn't need to use it though.

Mina managed to find another material hanging from the branch of a rather tall tree, so she decided that the best course of action for her would be to climb up the tree in order to grab it. She swiftly began to climb up, her hands deftly grasping the right branches that were needed in order to continue her climb. She finally reached the branch where the material was supposed to be. She swung around the branch she was under, and she lept up, managing to grab the material, before falling down along the tree for a few feet, before catching one of the branches with a single hand. She allowed herself to fall a few feet more, before she landed on the branch beneath where she had fallen. A smile crossed her face, before she shoved it into her inventory. She figured that she might as well search for a treasure chest while she was out, since it was fairly deep into the forest.

Mina found a boar that was trotting around on the forest floor, so she decided to follow it so she didn't need to search a ridiculously long time for a new clearing. the Map-cube that she had been using had displayed a small clearing around around 20 meters away from where she'd been earlier with the alchemist NPC, a fairly sizeable distance from where she had been before. Thank goodness there wasn't a sprint meter in this game. With how "realistic" of a fantasy game this was supposed to be, it was more than likely that it wasn't included because quite frankly, people would lose their minds if they had to worry about a sprint meter... especially if they were trying to book it from a mob, and they were having trouble getting away.

Mina was still following the boar, a smile crossing her face. the boar had led her to the area that her map had pointed out as a nice place for materials to be found. Hopefully she had some decent luck, and also manage to find a chest. Hopefully that would be the case in this instance. She really wanted to try for one, especially now that she was trying out the search skill. Mina picked up a rock that looked to be extremely shiny, and had a faint bone-white sheen. She smirked at the object, before pocketing it. It was certainly worth following that mob to this area. she lept back up into the tree when the Boar turned around to face her, snorting as it looked up at her, before it trotted off. Apparently she hadn't pulled its aggro to her..? Mina deadpanned for a moment or two, before she simply decided to wander off. In her opinion, it wasn't the most interesting situation, but it was certainly a nice one to be in, especially with several materials clasped within her hand.

Mina started walking around the clearing, searching for a place that a chest could be potentially hidden. She blinked in surprise when she saw a chest nestled within a small rock pile. She set out to clear it off, moving several rocks, a few branches, and the occasional insect mob. finally, she'd gotten her hands on it fully, and started to dust it off with her cloak, an irritated look on her face. It wouldn't do at all to have opened it while it was all mucky... and admittedly, she was a bit nervous looking at it, and hoping that she didn't end up having to deal with a mimic that ended up spawning from the object. She'd heard horror stories that involved them, mainly of them eating players that had gotten too close to them, or attacking players when their backs were turned. Mina shrugged when she thought of that again. It was statistically unlikely to happen. besides,  Mimics tended to spawn with extremely terrible luck, and she actually had a golden key to use in the chest.
