[F02-SP]Soaring the Sky<<Feeding your Enemy>>

Recommended Posts

It was a sunny day at the beginner's town, and Nora was walking around in a very shady looking alleyway clearly looking for something, or someone. She was not having any luck, even after straight four hours of searching, still no sight of that specific NPC in sight. She briefly wonders if the Innkeeper NPC lied to her or tricked her somehow and there was no beast taming NPC to begin with.....if so, it might be time to test her combat skill on a human shaped monster...not that attacking NPC is encouraged or even possible to begin with.

Nora sighed to herself. After about 4 hours of nothing, she was getting discouraged and wonders if she should give up and go back to hunting random beasts or something. But it was closing to about lunch time, so maybe she should grab something to eat first...with that, she turns her head towards the shopping zone and started to walk towards that way. That was when she walked right past a gypsy looking NPC.

.....

Nora narrowed her eyes and slowly turns her head to look back at the NPC, the latter of which lifted her head to smile at her with crocked teeth. "Hi there, young ones. You...want some food...?"

What kind of creepy question is that...?!!! Nora shivered, if she wasn't out looking for her she would 100% thought that it was a human trafficking NPC or something. That was when she noticed a black snake circling around the NPC's neck, it raises its head and hissed at her.

Nora blinked.

Nora was pretty skeptical about everything so she has to go double check on the NPCs name on the mini map. Yes, it took her a while but she finally managed to find out how to use the mini map in order to locate the quest NPCs. She thought about asking someone for help, but eventually managed to find it out herself just by testing the menu in the game system. Upon pulling open the mini map, she found that the NPC standing right in front of her is indeed the NPC that hands out pet food for her familiar quest. With that, Nora gratefully accepted the pet food, even if she found the NPC to be a bit shady looking. The instruction is pretty simple, she just have to go find a familiar and feed it this food and hopefully, it will want to go back home with her then.

Placing the food in her backpack, she started to make her way towards the wild. She has thought about it long and hard on what kind of familiar she wanted. At first, she thought a black cat would be kind of nice and cute, it fits into her alchemist theme and all, the witch and the black cat. But then again, a small mammal like that will find itself having difficulty traveling with her on her adventure, considering her habits and everything. It would be cute, and she will have to carry it. If the cat is small enough, she can probably puts it in her bag and carries it around, it will be a little cute traveling companion, it would be nice. However, after giving the thought some more rounds of consideration, she decided to go for something with greater mobility. Something that could fly and soar in the air.

A bird...no...a bird of prey. That's what she wanted. Some large bird that can soar the sky and look down below, locating and identifying monsters for her, can travel with her easily and can rest on her shoulder. It will be really cool, maybe it will be able to assist her in combat as well. All of her friends will be so impressed with her then!! XDDD So what kind of bird though...? Bird of prey usally includes, eagles, hawk, falcon, vulture and owls. Owls and vulture are out of the question right out of the gate, they did not have the imposing factor in their design. Hawks and falcon are both cool, slim and agile, they would make great pets...but in the end, Nora decided to go with the larger bird, the eagle. This will give the enemy an idea of what they are facing against and hopefully make them regret their choice of facing her XDDD.

Now that the type of familiar has been decided, the next question would be where to find it. The first floor is the largest floor of the game and it has multiple types of different environment, but in order to find an eagle, the safest bet would be to find a cliff or a valley of some kind. Maybe somewhere around a rocky mountain where there's a river underneath, maybe a waterfall? Nora thinks about it long and hard and can't actually recall a place that fits the description just right on the first floor. But the second floor actually have a few locations that fits the description. Or so she has heard from NPCs in the tavern. She has only been to the second floor maybe once or twice, but perhaps it is time to visit the upper floor once again. The thought of an upper floor still sounds scary to her.

Still, with the front line as her ultimate goal, she will have to get used to the upper floors sooner or later. Maybe if she went there more often, she won't be afraid anymore. There's no use or benefit of hiding inside the first floor forever, she has made her decision long ago that she won't hide herself in the town of the beginning. Once that decision was made, it was only a matter of time before she starts to climb the stairs. And it looks like the time to climb stairs is now. With that thought in mind, she checked her equipment and her backpack once again. Taking all of her possession with her, she didn't have many to begin with, and closed her Singer's Shop. She heads toward the stairs leading towards the second floor, that will be her new primary location now, and most likely she won't be visiting back here except for quests or visit her friends.

The cold and empty air of the second floor greets her silently. Nora took a look around. She has landed in the beginner's town, the safe zone, on the second floor. The fact that she doesn't know anyone here and she doesn't know any location on this floor is making her very nervous. Still, she has to get used to starting over again on a new environment. She will have to get used to this feeling. It won't be so scary after a while. She signs.

Despite everything and how much she claims to have hate and gets bored of the Town of the Beginning. Secretly, she was getting attached to the place, and having left it behind left an empty hole in her hurt. It was where she met all of her friends, but now, it is time to start exploring a new place all over again. The funny thing is, she hasn't been to a lot of the places on the first floor either, just two towns.

She has a feeling that she will need to go back and revisit some of the places again and explore some new places on the first floor that she hasn't been to. After all, she hasn't even completed all of her quests there yet. With that thought in mind, she looked at the Town's map and quickly find the local tavern of this place. A quick visit to the local tavern and the NPC owner there was able to tell here where the mountain area is and how to best get there. Appearently, there will be monsters on the way to and back from here, but if she's careful, she could potentially avoid any and all combats. Her quest is simple, to find a familiar, she does not need to engage in combat for this one quest. Thanking the NPC owner gratefully, Nora checks her equipment and heads out into the field.

Perhaps it was due to the fact that this ground was higher into the air, she felt the air surrounding this place to be a bit colder than the first. Maybe it was a good time to get herself a new armor and upgrade her weapon as well. She has been using her starter armor and weapon for the longest time, they are surprsingly useful and durable. But she will need to switch for something better and with more damage soon. But for now, they are fine for what they are. She still has Yukiro's katana, which will help her deal with most of her enemeies for now. Traveling quickly through the wild field, careful in avoiding contacting any monsters nearby, she eventually reached to a point where the rocky mountains are in her sight now. She looks at the clear blue sky and has a good feeling that she could find her familiar here.

It certainly looks like a place where eagles might be found. The cliff has a great open space concept, the sky is high, the air is cold and clear and there are lots of place to fly above. She could even see a small stream down below and some wild monsters scattering about. In the distant she heard something. Something a lot like a call from a large bird of prey, but the valley is so grand and empty that she find locate where the sound was coming from. Instead, the sound of the call seems to be echoing around the valley and bouncing off the cliff, making it extremely difficult to find the owner of the call. She is sure that an eagle can be find here, but at the moment, she just can't spot any. Maybe it is time to travel deeper into the valley. Maybe then she will find it.

Suddenly, Nora heard a sharp cry up on the tree and she spotted a large eagle looking down at her with mild curiosity. Her eyes widen in shock as she could not process what in the world is happening right now. Yes...apparently she has found a potential familiar. Quickly, she reached into her bag and finished out the pet food that she has gotten from the gypsy lady NPC and holds it in her palm. She reached out her hand towards the large bird of prey, calling it to come over and try the pet food in her hand. She's not sure if this is what it likes and she was having doubts in her mind. But it was as if miracle has happened, the large bird let out a clear chirp and flies down, it landed on her shoulder and took a bite at the pet food in her palm. It let out a soft coo, appearantly looking the food. Nora felt numb and nodded.

Yes...at this point she has basically completed her task here, with out using any of the items that she has bought with her. It is a nice feeling but she felt weird at the same time. She didn't feel like going back just yet. Besides, she has her healing potions with her, with the intention that she was gonna fight some monsters to past the time so....regardless of whether she has found a pet for not she was gonna fight anyways.

But still, she started to make her way back towards the town. Walking alongside the river, she spotted some wolve pups by the lake drinking water. Exactly what she needed right now. Nora quickly closing in on one of the wolf and uses sword art Han'ei on it. The wolf turns around and counter attacked against Nora, but perhaps it was surprised by the sudden attack. The wolf missed.

This wolf is surprisingly tougher than what Nora has initially thought. But she managed to land a hit with bleed, now she has to keep her distance and let it bleed out some more. Hopefully that will take it down that much easier.  All she has to do is to back away into a safer distance and let it bleed to death. The wolf howls at her angrily and tries to charge against her, but due to its injury, its running speed was severely hindered. Nora keeps her distance and back away when needed, always maintaining a sufficient amount of space between herself and the wolf. But this won't be a final solution to her problem, Nora needs to make her move against the wolf before the wolf take the fight to her. Nora uses her sword art Han'ei on it again, this time, the wolf missed its counter attack against Nora.

So far so good. Nora is careful in keeping up with its distance but the monsters on this floor really is a lot tougher than she has originally thought. She could still solo the fight, but it is prove so difficult that it might not be worth it in the long run. She really misses her teammates now, but still, as a dps, it is her job to bring in the damage and she can't believe how little damage she was doing. Biting her teeth, she was getting a little bit impatient with this wolf. When she saw an opening in the wolf's stance, and thought that it had turned its attention elsewhere, she charges in and used Han'ei on the wolf. The bleed affects the wolf for the very last time, the wolf's health bar is now dangerously in red. This is its final stand, it does not have enough health bar left to withstand much more attacks.

Nora bites her teeth and she felt her blood pressure raising. She can't believe how much trouble one wolf...just one wolf!!! was giving her. She has fight with this wolf with her sword art and with critical and yet she was having a hard time bringing it down. This isn't a boss or anything like that, it is just a random monster in the wild and it was giving her this much trouble. This tells her how much harder the second floor really is. IF she wants to survive the second floor, she needs to practice with her sword and level up fast!! This damage was with the bleed too, she can't imagine how this fight would have go down without the bleed effect. Thank Mar for crafting this sword, it is doing wonders here. She needs to calm down and focus at the task at hand and bring down this wolf first before she could do anything else. She still has to make her way back to town.

There's no time to rest. The second wolf is starting to look towards this way. She is so glad that these monsters are not coming at her all at once, as that would have been the end of her for sure. She wish she has more time to learn and practice with her katana, but time is not her friend. She must end the fight here otherwise her life might be in danger. Despite how much damage the first wolf's impressive display of hostility. Her health bar is still a very healthy green, she can do this...! She just need to bring on the damage and end this fight quickly. Nora took a deep breath and circles around the second wolf, trying yet failing at dodging its attack. Her sword art cutting through the wolf's skin, doing some damage but maybe not much. This looks like it is gonna be a long fight, but Nora refuses to back out of it now. She think she can still fight a bit more. Nora attacks and the wolf counters, both side took some damage.

The wolf charges against Nora, she turns to dodge but was not fast enough. The wolf bites hard into Nora's armor, breaking into her skin and drawing blood out from her arm. The armor was enhanced with thorn which did some damage to the wolf, but Nora still sucks in a cold breath of air at that impact. She remembers how much damage the first wolf did, and she is not looking forward to being bit once again. But it is not something that she could have controlled, at this point she hopes that the wolf does not land more hits on her. Now it is not the time to think about that, now is the time to bring on the offense as she once again charge against the wolf with her sword art Han'ei, slowly chipping away at the monster's health bar. She hopes to end this fight soon. If possible, she would rather not use her health potion here at some random monster.

Damn it!!!  This wolf is even harder to fight than the first one! She guessed that she got lucky when she landed those critical attacks on the first wolf. Without the critical bonus and the bleed effect, she was doing little to no damage to this second wolf. And it looks like she was running out of time. She needs to do something, but there is absolutely nothing she could have do to help her situation. Biting her teeth, Nora performs her attack Han'ei on the wolf again. The attack was so unsteady that it almost missed the wolf entirely, she lost more energy from the miss and she was running out of breath. Because her position has changed, the wolf missed its attack on her as well. But at this point she wishes it would land a hit on her so that she can feed it more thorns! Her health bar is slowly going down, but more alarmingly is her energy which has dropped below 10.

This second wolf seems to be a lot more agile then the first one, and also very stubborn as it was refusing to learn. It attacks Nora again, successfully landing a hit but the thorn on Nora's armor scratch its mouth as well, landing some damage to it. Nora cruses under her breath as her health bar has been bought down to under100 HP. Now it is in the orange range, using health potion becomes a serious consideration as soon as she exit the battle. Or just wait for a bit until her health regains back itself automatically outside of combat. Still she can't let this wolf escape now, she can see that its health bar is in the orange also, it looks like between the two of them, she was still the one better off. Nora perform her sword art on it again, bringing down the health bar to red, and the thorn finish it off.

Nora a hands her hand on top of her wounds, despite the armor, the wolves were able to getting through her defense and her health bar has dropped all the way to orange just from two random wolf encounters. She can't believe how much damages these beasts can do to her, they are not even bosses just random wild monsters and yet they were giving her a hell of a hard time. If she runs into another one of those wolfs without any rest in between, she could be done for! It is not just her health bar that is currently at risk, but she if also running very low on energy. She felt like she could drop down to the ground at any time now and couldn't afford to move a figure or a single muscle. Nora sighs at her own weakness and moves to pick up the loot from the ground. See what she gets for her trouble this time, so far she is getting col and not much else.
