Well, at least that was't a horrible fail like when her spear was stuck in the tree or covered in sap. But man, she was really tired of missing today. All she wanted to do now was hit this boar, kill it, and be done. She just wanted to find her familiar, then go and roam with nothing to have to worry about. But no, she still had this boar that was staring her down and gearing up it looked like. So, she decided that she should still attempt to attack first, only for the boar to move out of the way before running in a large circle around her. Great, that was like what, six missed attacks now? Was there no end to this apparent bad luck of hers? As she thought on that, she lost track of the boar, before it was running at her and rammed it's head right into her stomach. Ouch.

Okay, this boar was really starting to make her mad, and that wasn't a good thing. She didn't give the boar time to back away before she slashed it with her spear using Heft. She was tired of being a play thing and well, she was going to watch as the boar dies. Only, her attack didn't do enough damage to kill it, of course. It did drop it to the red, but that wasn't dead, that was still barely alive. The boar didn't move far before it rammed it's head into her hip, but the main was minimal at least, for her. But for the boar, that was what killed it as her thorns grabbed the boar and drained the rest of the life from it. She didn't want to look at the loot, she didn't care right now. She went back to walking instead, happy to have that horrible fight now behind her.

As she walked, she started to think on who she might have made mad enough to curse her to have a fight like that one just now. Was that just her luck? Or was someone in the programming world out to get her? Either way, she didn't like it and she never wanted to relive that. She just wanted to walk and get away. Forget that things have happened. Think on the things that could be instead. But no, she still had to walk and walk just to be able to find the thing that she was out here for, a familiar. She really didn't think that the quest was going to be this hard, perhaps the gypsy later should start putting that in the disclaimer for the quest. 'Warning this will take forever and will make you regret life decisions, accept at your own risk'. Yeah, that kind of warning would be something nice to know.

She was still walking and thinking on how she might even be able to put in a suggestion to fix this quest. Wait..that wasn't a thing. Nothing was able to be fixed right now, just destroyed or killed, like the players. Ha, see what she did there? So, here she was, walking the beaten path, avoiding anything that might look like a monster marker and just keeping to herself. She wasn't in the mood to fight anymore, she was actually still in a bit of pain from getting her ass kicked so many times just now. But, that wasn't going to keep her from the goal that she had in mind for herself. She just had to find it first. Soon, hopefully soon. She was starting to get hungrier as she walked and she seriously wondered if anyone had left a campfire and some extra food laying around. She doubted it though.

Actually how do those familiar foods taste? Would they be good for a human? Or was it specifically just for the familiar? You know things are desperate when she is wondering if she can eat the quest food meant for an animal. Ugh, this quest needs to hurry up and end so that she can go and get a nice plate of eggs and waffles. Man, that sounds so good right now. Maybe even get some hash browns with them. Her mouth started to salivate as she thought about this breakfast that she had skipped this morning. It started to make her wonder why she even thought that skipping breakfast was going to be a god idea. Either way though, she was still walking. Walking and walking. No path but the one under her feet and nothing on her mind except for food. Oh, bacon sounds good. She did kill the boars they would make great bacon.

Hrm, maybe if she started a fire she could make some bacon right now? Doubtful, she'd probably end up burning herself or burning the floor down. Imagine how people would feel on that one, a burnt down starter floor because some noob couldn't even cook some bacon over a campfire. That was laughable, and sadly, completely relate able. She sighed as she thought on that before she thought that she heard something. She turned around, but nope, there was nothing there. Just her mind playing nasty tricks on her now. She did find a nice sized rock though and she went over to it and plopped her butt onto the smooth surface. This was going to have to do for right now as she tried to figure out how things were truly going for her. She figured that it would also be a good time to look at the things that she has gotten so far.

As she scrolled through her inventory, she sighed. Nothing useful right now. All of it needed to be identified. You know, she would probably make a better merchant than a cook. That might be something worthy to look into. She thought on the options before she nodded her head. Yeah, merchant sounded more like her anyways. Besides, she could always find one of the many other cooks like she did last night to get things. Right now, she just needed to get rid of some of the unidentified stuff in her inventory, but she didn't know of any good merchants. She could always look into that as well. Ugh, choices and they were hard ones. She shook her head though, these were decisions that she was going to have to end up deciding on and soon at that. For if she wanted to be able to do anything, she just needed to decide.

Who knew that a rock could be so comfortable when she was this tired and sore. One would think that the rock would be a hard surface on sore muscles, but it felt good. That was a nice little surprise and a welcomed one at that. But it still didn't help the fact that she was bored out of her damn mind. It felt like things were never going to go in her direction. So, stopping on those thoughts, she thought of Virgil. Why did it seem that her brother has changed so much and in such a short amount of time? What could he have done? What if he didn't do anything, what if Nicky had gone after him as well? That single thought made her shudder, she didn't want to think of that lady going after her brother. That made her determined to get stronger then, so that she could protect both herself and her older brother.

The rock was starting to get hot, and she still wanted to think. So, she got up and found herself a nice grassy spot covered in some shade. At least it was relaxing, sort of. Her thoughts weren't letting that be the full case really. But still, it was better than sitting on a hard rock in the sun while thinking on these things. She let her mind drift back to Issac, er, Virgil. She still hadn't got him to tell her what it was that he might have done or hasn't done. It bugged her a little bit really. She knew why she changed, and he knew as well. But she needed him to open up once more, but that was the part that was hard to get happen. She didn't know the words anymore to gain someone to talk to her. She might need to go back to working on that, but it didn't help that she didn't trust people.

As she laid back in the little field that she had found, she wondered what it was that she was missing. What is was that she hadn't figured out yet. Why she didn't think about trying to talk to others. Honestly, she's talked to three others who weren't her brother, and they all seemed nice. But there was something about each of them that held her back from trying to be nice to them. She sighed lightly, but that was soon stopped mid sigh when she heard something behind her. She slowly rose to a sitting position and looked at the thing that was, well, growling at her. It was a jet black panther with ruby red eyes, such a beautiful creature, something that Neph knew that she wouldn't mind have following her around. She slowly turned so that she was fully facing the panther, who, thankfully, wasn't growling anymore, but just watching her.

She hadn't forgotten about the familiar food. "Hey beautiful, so, I'm gonna reach into my pocket, and get you some food, how does that sound?" The panther didn't move, but it looked like she was watching Neph with sharp and calculating eyes. Well, that was something wasn't it. Slowly though, Neph grabbed some of the food and she held it out to the panther. Now, Neph wasn't expecting the panther to bond right away, that would be luck that she knew she didn't have. But she was instead waiting for the panther to turn her head up and leave. Instead, the panther sat down and just stared at Neph, as if wondering if the food was safe or something. The panther slowly move so that her nose could sniff the food and she abruptly moved her head as if saying that it wasn't the right food. Neph looked at it, and she didn't blame the giant cat, it was fruit.

So, she tossed the fruit to the side and grabbed something else, a fish. Huh, she knew that it said somewhere that cats were actually allergic to fish most of the time, but she figured that it might as well be worth it. But the moment that Neph held the fish out to the panther, the giant cat was on her paws and growling low and threatening like. Neph didn't waste time as she threw the fish far, and this seemed to instill some kind of trust with the panther as she calmed down. She didn't sit back down, but she wasn't growling at Neph and actually debating on eating the woman or not, so that was a good thing really. Nephthys didn't make any movements, instead, she just sat there and smiled at the cat. Neph was starting to like this panther more and more, she acted a lot like Neph did, and it was amazing to her.

Once she was certain that the panther wasn't going to pounce on her for moving, she reached into her pocket and grabbed another piece of food. In her hand she held a chunk of meat, and this seemed to make the panther's eyes light up. Neph took that as a good sign, so she held the meat out to the panther to see what she would do. One sniff, two sniff, meat gone. Was that a purr from the giant cat? Neph thought so as she gently reached out to pet the panther. The panther stiffened for a moment before relaxing into the pets and purred once more. "You are just a giant cat, I love it." She chuckled lightly as she continued to pet the panther. Once she was certain that she had a new friend, she stood up. "How about we go home and think of what you should be trained to do?"

The panther seemed to follow her happily, which was something nice to see really. The woman walked back to town, with a panther in tow. Who would think that she would find a giant cat to be her familiar? It fit though. "You know, I'm going to call you Bast, as the Egyptian cat Goddess." An approving purr could be heard and it made Neph laugh. A kind of laugh that she hadn't done in years now. "You might be an amazing thing for me Bast." She reached down and the panther immediately put her head into the palm of Neph's hand so the woman could pet her as they walked. A smile was on her face as they entered town, there were a few stares but people soon got over it. There was one person that Neph needed to talk to, and she son found the gypsy. "Hey, just giving this back. Thanks." She didn't stay long enough to hear anything that the NPC had to say.
