It was a relatively boring day for her really. She had nothing that she could really do at the moment. She didn't want to go to the seventeenth floor just yet to do that crafting quest, especially since she doesn't have the materials to be able to craft with anyways. What would be the point of doing a quest that was just going to be useless for a while anyways. Actually, perhaps she should go out and grab some materials? That wouldn't be a horrible idea really.

But that was soon stopped when she got an urgent message in her mailbox. She was confused as to who it could be from, but when she opened it, she noticed that it was a quest instead of a normal quest. She read over the details of it, and was out the door soon enough with her spear in her left hand and Bast fast on her heels.

The main points of that message? There was a small village that was in need of some help. There were some sick villagers and no one is strong enough to go out and fight the things that drop the medicine that is needed. This was the reason that the message was sent out as urgent, because it was urgent. Now, as she left the town, she just hoped that she wasn't about to run into her normal problem of, where am I. So, with Bast running basically trying to keep up with her, she was nearly running to the village.

She didn't want to hear that someone was sick and wasn't able to help themselves, that was why she was around in her mind. She is here to help, and that is exactly what she is going to do. She is going to help the village with anything that they need help with. She just needed to get there first.

The walk was brisk and easy thankfully, and she actually seemed to be getting places right now without getting lost. That was a really strange thing at this point wasn't it. She started to slow only for the fact that she was in the village center now. She just needed to find the person who had the quest. The one who had sent her the urgent message. But there was a tiny problem, the town was basically barren.

She didn't like how this looked. It wasn't a good look. It looked like she might have been too late, which made her heart hurt, until she saw an NPC walk out of a building with the quest marker. She ran up to the person and she panted, "I got your message! What do you need me to do?" The NPC looked shocked for a moment before a grateful smile seemed to cross her face.

"Please help us. We need an item from one of the Nepent Variants and none of us are strong enough to go out and fight it. Please, just bring us back one of the Little Nepent's Ovule's. Just one will be enough to make sure that we can save those who are sick."

Neph looked at the NPC and she nodded, "I will be back as soon as I can with one of them, I promise." She didn't wait for much else from the NPC before she turned and started to leave the village. She had her quest, she knew what she was supposed to do, and she was going to get it done and quickly. She didn't want anyone to die while she was hunting this down.

She looked down at Bast, "Okay Bast, get ready, we are going to save a village." The panther chirped as she kept her quick pace to keep up with Neph.

Between the two, they were watching everything. Neph was watching in front of them and Bast was watching their backs. That was how this partnership worked. They made things a partnership and they made things work for themselves. Now, this pair was too used to just walking into things that they needed, but right now, it seemed like these things were going to be hard to find. She didn't like this because it was making it harder to think that she was going to get the quest done in a timely manner.

But, she still walked and waited. She watched everything, waiting to see if something was going to pop out at her that she was going to need. Of course, just trying to figure out what it was that she needed and what it looked like wasn't an easy feat. She stopped walking for a few minutes to grab her guidebook then.

She looked at the guidebook while Bast sat down by Neph and watched around the pair. She was going to try and get an insight of what it was that she is looking for. She flipped through the book until she finally landed on the page that she needed. She read over the guide and she nodded. Okay, so she just needed to kill a few Nepents and then that Variant should show up. But of course, getting the item that she needed was going to involve luck.

Here was hoping that her luck survived being able to get the item then. But, she read over the stats for all of these things, and she smiled lightly. They were going to die quickly, she already knew it. She put the book away and looked down at Bast, "Let's go hunt down some Nepents Bast. We need two of the baby ones and hopefully just one of the Variant."

The panther chirped lightly as Neph said this and the pair started to walk once more. She was really hoping that her luck wasn't going to be crap. She didn't want anyone to die really, and well, knowing how her luck was in the real world, she wasn't going to make it in time. Stop thinking like that Madeline, you can do this. This little pep talk seemed to work a tiny bit as she started to walk deeper into the wild to try and find these nepents.

The walk didn't seem to have to take very long before Neph started to hear something rustling around in some bushes near by. But there was the fact that it was just a rabbit that darted away from the pair. Bast didn't bother to chase this one, knowing that it would only make Neph mad if she did. But Neph did stop when she saw two markers on top of some monsters that she did need. There were two Nepents ahead of her, and she was going to kill them.

She looked at the two Nepents and she took in a deep breath before she gripped her spear tighter. She was going to kill these two Nepents and she was going to find the Variant Nepent. She knew this. Charging forward, her spear started to glow blue as she channeled Sonic Charge. The tip of her spear started to crackle with energy as well, and the moment she that stabbed the tip of her spear into the first Nepent, she watched it's health deplete.

There was an explosion that his the second Nepent as well and she watched as the hit from that drained the second Nepent of it's health. Both Nepents turned to fragments then and she sighed lightly. She knew it was going to be easy, but this was turning into a whole new level of easy. It was too easy, and that was something that was bugging her lightly as she started to hunt down the Variant Nepent.

So far, her walking has come up with nothing after beating the nepents. This slightly irritated her, but she was going to work with it still. She wasn't about to let it get her down, instead, she was using this to make her more determined to find this variant and kill it instantly. But, to be able to do that, she still needed to find the thing first. Bast was walking beside her chirping lowly, as if she was cursing at things in panther.

She found that funny as she walked with the panther next to her. She gently put a hand on the panther's head, "Don't worry Bast, we will get the item that we need. We will save the village." The panther looked up at her, the ruby red eyes on the giant cat seemed to be clouded with worry, or at least, that is what Neph was deciphering her eyes to be saying.

Boring, that is what she was calling this right now. She knew that she shouldn't feel as bored as she did, but hunting down this big bad field boss wasn't as easy as it seemed really. She just wanted to fight it, win, give this item to the people, then go home. Was that really too much to ask? Yes, yes it was. She sighed as she looked down at the complain panther beside her and she gently patted Bast's head.

"I know Bast, but the sooner we find this thing the sooner we get to go." The panther seemed to chirped, but it sounded sad. Neph didn't really blame the panther mainly because this was supposed to be their day off. But Neph wasn't going to turn down an urgent message. One could never know who that is going to actually be from, and she wasn't going to let others get hurt when she could help them.

Bast heard something first, and it made Neph look around to try and find the thing that the panther heard. But she saw nothing at first, at least, until she saw the red fruit trying to move away from herself and the panther. She gripped her spear tightly and she charged forward. She knew that it was a monster, and once she got closer, she knew that it was the one that she needed. Channeling Heft into her spear, she didn't attack until she got close enough.

Once she knew that she was going to hit, she quickly made a diagonal slash across the Nepent Variant's body, watching the red line appear and then the health bar of the monster deplete. It was gone in a flash of fragments, and in her inventory appeared the Nepent's Ovule. She smiled as she looked at Bast, "Let's get back to them. We have what we need."

But wait, it almost seemed to easy that she had gotten the item. She looked at it in her inventory and she just stood there, mouth open. She wanted to fight the fact that she already had the item, but she also didn't want to. She was confused on how her luck was just this damn good one things that she didn't need it to be good on. Bast pushed her head into Neph's leg then, and that brought the woman back to the moment.

She looked at the panther and heard a chirp and Neph nodded, "Yeah, right. Let's go." Nephthys closed her inventory and she turned back to the direction that the village should be in. Should being the magical word, because we all know how easily Neph can get lost, and why would now not be an exception? Good, because it happened, she got lost, by turning in the wrong direction.

So, she hasn't noticed that she is lost yet. Instead, she is just walking, her hand resting on the panther's head gently as they did walk. Of course, she figured that she would be able to make it back to the village quickly. But as she started to walk, she has started to notice something. She has now been walking longer trying to head back than she had walked when leaving. Great, that means one thing...

She stopped and looked around, noticing that she didn't recognize the surroundings much at all right now. That meant that she was way off course didn't it. She sighed as she muttered something under her breath, more of an insult to herself than anything. She turned around and figured then that walking back the way that she just came was going to help her figure out where she was faster than anything else. Here's hoping.

She walked slowly, but still quickly, it was really confusing to watch from the outside really. But either way, she was making her way back to the village, in her own little way. She was confused on why and how she got so darned lost just then. She could have sworn that she was going the right way this time. But, of course, no she wasn't. That would be too easy wouldn't it. She sighed as she continued to walk.

How does one manage to get lost so easily? Neph didn't even know this. She had such amazing luck with everything else, it kind of made sense to her then to get lost. Why make her lucky in absolutely everything? That wasn't going to be a good thing was it? This was something that she thought about as she walked, Bast making mumbled chirps under her own breath. Probably making fun of Neph if we are to be honest.

She stopped as she looked around. So, this was where she had killed the nepent variant. That means that she just needs to go in the other direction to get to the village. She was going to be able to do this, but first, where did Bast go.... She looked around and saw the black feline taking off into the forest for a moment, and moments later came back with a mouthful of dead rabbit.

Neph sighed as she shook her head and she found a log to sit down on. She was going to patiently wait for Neph to finish her meal. But as she looked at the ground, she smiled as she saw something sparkle. That was a piece of material. She picked it up and quickly pocketed the material, "Well, looks like you needing food came in good handy this time." Neph, English is a thing, you should learn to speak it better.

She watched as Bast soon finished her rabbit and the pair started off toward the village again. This time she knew that she was going in the right direction, all because she saw the paw prints of the panther from when they walked here the first time. At least, she hoped that they were from Bast. But the panther didn't seem to be getting upset from the scent that came from them, so they had to be her own paw prints.

So, they just continued to walk in the direction that they were on. She hoped that they would get back to the village in time, and she also wondered if she was going to be able to find more random materials. Of course, she wasn't watching for the materials as much as she should if she really wanted to find them. That was mainly because she just wanted to get this quest turned in, because she was worried about NPCs, funny right?

Ah, there it was. The village was starting to slowly get closer, and that was a wonderful thing to her really. She was glad to almost be back to be able to give them the medicine that they needed. But the dark thought of what if she was too late did cross her mind. Though, she was going to ignore that because she didn't want to think that she was too late to save the village.

Why was she so adamant on saving a village of NPCs that could just respawn? Because it felt like she was doing something good, even if it was just for some NPCs. The NPCs were people too, even if not everyone thought that. Have you ever been able to look at a crying NPC and say, 'oh, that's all fake and not genuine'? Okay, maybe many people have, but not Neph, she believes in those tears, and she wants to be able to stop them in the kind way of helping.

She walked into the village and immediately started to look for the person who she had talked too just mere hours before. Of course, it might have been more than an hour, but she was really hoping not for the fact that she didn't want it to be so long that she had been out there. Mainly because that would mean that her getting lost caused her to lose more time than she had thought, again. She really needed to gain some help with that navigation issue of hers.

But, as she walked around the village, she noticed that there were less people out now than there had been before. This worried her. Had someone died? Had more people gotten sick? She really didn't want to know the answer to either of those questions as she walked the village, still trying to find this NPC. She had to be around here somewhere right?

Okay, she has gone through half of the villages buildings by now, where was this dam NPC? She just wanted to give her the item so that she could help the village. But that couldn't happen if she didn't know where the person was who she was looking for. She sighed as she walked and walked, even Bast was starting to whine from the fact that they couldn't find this chick.

But soon enough, they heard her running to them. Neph turned around and she looked at the woman. "Oh thank goodness you're back. Does that mean that you have found the item that we need? Please tell me that you have found it." Neph held her hands up for a moment, "Calm down, yes we have found it. But first you need to calm down." The woman nodded before grabbing Neph's hand and started to drag her to one of the larger buildings.

She let the NPC drag her into the building and she looked around. She had a sinking feeling, there were more sick people than there had been before she left. How long had she actually been gone? She sighed as she grabbed the item from her inventory and handed it to the NPC. "So, how does this work? How do you save them all?" The NPC smiled lightly before she started to usher Neph and Bast out of the building.

"That is a village secret. But we all thank you for the help. Please, feel free to stop by any time and I am sure that we can help you if you are ever in need." With that, the NPC left her sight and went back into the building. That must be the queue for Neph to leave. She didn't have the quest completion pop up yet though, so she waited a few more minutes.
